Minute One Hundred Seventeen: From Nat Being Sure to Clint Pointing an Arrow... Right at UsJames Anderson and Colin Parker from the Timeline Scavengers podcast join us in this episode! In the one-hundred-seventeenth minute of The Avengers...Steve gives Nat a boost and it's quite the maneuver. It leads us to bring up the wonderful Heidi Moneymaker yet again as she does amazing work as Scarlett Johansson's stunt double. Is this her? Is it Scarlett? No idea, but we celebrate Heidi all the same. She goes on to take down the Chitauri on the chariot, and she ends up piloting it via blades sunk into the back of the Chitauri pilot. Ouch! It's intense. This leads us to yet another fantastic shot in the film. It's a oner that starts with Natasha on the chariot, brings Tony in to help her and then Cap, takes us up to Clint battling from the rooftops, and goes on from there. That's all we get in this minute, though. Regardless, it's fantastic. Minute One Hundred Thirteen: From Bringing Down the Leviathan to Cap's Plan for ThorJames Anderson and Colin Parker from the Timeline Scavengers podcast join us in this episode! In the one-hundred-thirteenth minute of The Avengers...It's a big one! We've got the death of the leviathan but really, we're here for the hero moment with the camera revolving around all six of our heroes, now finally THE AVENGERS. It's a great moment. Before we get there, we do talk a bit more about the demise of the leviathan and debate if its death should include more goo and grossness all over the streets. We also draw some comarisons to the graboids in Tremors that go nowhere because James has never seen it. There's talk about the nature of viscera on the lens, not to mention potentially steamy leviathan breath fogging the lens as it crashes off the viaduct. There's a documentary feel to it all for sure that the director loves, but it might be riding the line. The death of their mother (we've already proven that the leviathan is the Chitauri mama) fills all the Chitauri with rage to the point where one seemingly rips its own face off. Oh wait, that's a mask. So does that help them breathe in space then? Too many questions...The hero shot is the response to the screaming Chitauri. Hulk screams. Clint nocks. Thor wields. Natasha... loads. Steve readies. Iron Man... stands. They all get into their pose and it works well. Plus, it plays into the nature of the comic book origins with something that really feels like it could've been a splash page. From this, we get more leviathans which triggers Tony to essentially put Steve in charge finally, and the team goes to work. It's a minute full of fantastic moments. Minute Seventy Three: From Fury Readying His Sidearm to Fury Shaking His HeadJames Anderson and Colin Parker from the Timeline Scavengers podcast join us in this episode! In the seventy-third minute of The Avengers...It's a tension-filled minute! We start with Fury reaching for his gun because, as it turns out, Bruce has picked up the scepter. But... why? Is the scepter behaving? Is Loki in control of it in some capacity? There are questions we ask that we're not even sure the filmmakers at the time had answers to, which is frustrating. Still, knowing down the road it's the mind stone makes it make more sense, right? The gamma readings trigger the system and Bruce runs to check, but why is the latitude/longitude giving a reading somewhere over the wilds of Quebec? And why is the helicarrier's reading showing that it's over Bermuda? Are these Easter eggs for someone in the crew? Was it intentional? Or were they goofs? We may never know. But now the helicarrier's blowing up like an 80s TV scifi show. Explosions out of the floor. Shaky cams equating a ship under attack. People flying through windows. It plays fine, but certainly gives us plenty to question. Regardless, Barton's on the attack and our team is separated. Minute Sixty One: From Bruce Telling Tony He Can Control It to Steve's Stealthy LeapJames Anderson and Colin Parker from the Timeline Scavengers podcast join us in this episode! In the sixty-first minute of The Avengers...Bruce and Tony are still taking about their powers. Why is Tony pushing Bruce to join up and be part of the team? Or is it that he sees a brother scientist in need here? This is a fascinating scene of character-building and we're all thrilled with how it plays out. Plus, it's shot through the glass panel, so there's a strange mirror element to it. The reflections of these heroes in each other? And did they CG the reflections? Bruce's has a bit of a... look to it.We also talk (finally) about Tony's Iron Maiden shirt, and get a bit of time chatting about Steve prowling around to see what he can find. Minute Twenty-Five: From More Me to a Tap on the ChestJames Anderson and Colin Parker from the Timeline Scavengers podcast join us in this episode! In the twenty-fifth minute of The Avengers...We have a lot of love for the location shots in midtown Manhattan where we see Grand Central Station and the area around the MetLife building. You can even see cranes, showing that Tony's still working on redoing this building. The building's design is very cool and there are some wonderfully detailed shots that only last a few seconds, but they do a great job of laying out this building, which later filmmakers likely weren't even aware they'd be using as much as they did.We have a great conversation about Tony and his personality, as well as his working and romantic relationship with Pepper. This scene plays it so well and we're here for it. We also get some of Jarvis, and a hint of what's to come with Agent Coulson. Don't worry – we also talk plenty about Tony's suit removal unit, which seems to have been nicknamed the car wash by everyone who worked on it. And yes, we even talk about The Mentalist. What's Goin' Down In Downtown J-Town is recorded at Third City Sound in Downtown Joliet on the third floor above Chicago Street Pub, the original hub for local music. We hope to shed a little light on the great people of this city because it's easy to go unnoticed. We’ve also met a few people they aren’t from Joliet that come here to collaborate with us. These are the kinds of people that can help get the word out about the new wave of culture that’s begun to form. There are all kinds of opportunities presenting themselves that are exciting for entrepreneurs and consumers alike. In other words, there’s something for everyone, and we’ll be talking about it. Our guest is a film maker from Aurora Illinois. Colin Parker came to Third City Sound to have a few of us Joliet musicians put together a movie score for his film Fish Eye.
