Robots have been a thing for a long time, but they've never quite met expectations. While AI has changed the game for chatbots, it's not quite so clear for robots. NPR science desk correspondent Geoff Brumfiel spoke to our colleagues over on our science podcast Short Wave on how humanoid robots are actually developing with the help of artificial intelligence. It was a fascinating discussion and so we are sharing that conversation with you today on the Indicator. Related episodes: Is AI underrated? (Apple / Spotify) Is AI overrated? Will and Ryan discuss the dangerous mindset founders can fall into after hitting it big with their startups. They reflect on the story of Peter Chesky, co-founder of Wish, who became a billionaire during the tech IPO boom of early 2021 but saw his net worth plummet as the company's stock tanked. The episode emphasizes the importance of treating any major payout as if it's the last one you'll ever receive. With only a small percentage of startups ever having significant exits, and even fewer doing it repeatedly, Ryan and Will stress why founders should be cautious with their newfound wealth instead of assuming it will keep flowing.Sign up for the Startups Newsletterhttps://www.startups.com/newsletterResources:Startup Therapy Podcast https://www.startups.com/community/startup-therapyWebsitehttps://www.startups.com/beginLinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/company/startups-co/Join our Network of Top Founders Wil Schroterhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/wilschroter/Ryan Rutanhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/ryan-rutan/What to listen for:01:01 The Rise and Fall of Wish03:01 Lessons from the Wish IPO05:15 The Psychology of Founders11:52 A Counter Story: Priceline's IPO15:13 Reflecting on High School Memories15:37 The Illusion of Endless Wealth15:51 The Reality of Financial Downturns19:09 Understanding Venture Capital Statistics21:28 The Rarity of Repeat Success24:18 Advice for Founders: Secure Your Wins28:11 The Importance of Financial Safety30:39 Final Thoughts: Keep the Win

We truly believe Christians can follow Jesus together while disagreeing on how we apply our faith to politics. We even believe we can disagree with respect and dignity. But what's happening in our current culture is making it hard to love some of our neighbors around us.And while it's the politics that we see on the surface, it's the outright mean-spirited nature driving those politics and the rhetoric around them that makes it so hard to love those neighbors. This week we have an honest conversation about where we stand, why it's so hard to love them, and what it looks like moving forward in this climate.__________________Follow us on social:http://instagram.com/jonathan_caronehttp://instagram.com/ericw712https://www.threads.net/@jonathan_caronehttps://www.threads.net/@ericw712__________________Tension was called Unlearning Youth Group for the first six seasons. Our intro/outro music was created using AI. Another Paternity Leave Installment, and we're grabbing another wildly problematic episode pulled from the back catalog. As mentioned over the past couple of months, this has been behind the Patreon paywall for a while. Patreon payments are frozen for the time being. A few resourceful new Munchies have figured out a work-around where you can join as a free member and upgrade from there to a paid account which charges you for one month and unlocks the back catalog behind the respective tier of the paywall. After that first payment, you won't be charged again until we're dropping new content (which we'll warn everyone is coming), so if you want more of this it can be had, along with access to the fully uncut episodes from 100 to present and Movie Club episodes. When proceedings kick off with a pooch gleefully dragging discarded afterbirth down the sidewalk, you know you're in for something special. “Taboo” (S7E14) delivers on that opening promise, proffering some of the wildest, most disgusting things seen in the Munchie annals. As Adam and Josh frolic through the filth, they talk pseudocyesis, the history of Bellevue, bus fight Twitter, and the epidemic of incest in the U.S. And speaking of incest, wow, does this installment of SVU find a way to make something already SUPER disturbing mindblowingly revolting. Do you ever wonder how that inner voice of yours is shaping your world and impacting your mental health, your body, your reality and especially your relationships? Andrea Rowley (an expert in cognitive behavioral coaching and Chief Clinical Coach Officer at Noble Health) joins us this week to share how,"Our language is defining what we believe about ourselves."Andrea suggests considering questions like,"What am I missing?" “Maybe there is more to this inner narrative outside of me, that I am not seeing?” This shift away from yourself-centric mid brain, not only fosters a healthier self-relationship, but also activates the brain'sproblem-solving prefrontal cortex. Dr. Skinner adds, "Curiosity is a huge factor here," encouraging listeners to replace our self-condemnation with curiosity and challenging our ingrained negative beliefs. Asking ourselves and our children frequently:“How is your relationship with yourself? How are you speaking to yourself? How are you treating yourself?” ….These questions can reframe our miscalculated and misguided ideas about our worth and especially recenter our own children's sense of worth. Small simple shifts to more positive and compassionate inner language can move mental mountains! We hope you will join us this week on Finding Noble! You and us--We got this,Carly Red & Dr. SkinnerShow Notes:00:00 Introduction and Guest Bio02:02 The Power of Communication04:36 Understanding Self Talk06:10 Origins of Negative Self Talk10:55 Transforming Negative Self Talk17:32 Developing Self Compassion23:49 Setting Boundaries and Self-Compassion24:39 Creating New Neural Pathways25:29 Parenting Without Self-Judgment26:50 Handling Public Parenting Challenges28:24 Visualizing Positive Self-Talk29:14 Mindfulness and Self-Dialogue29:37 Encouraging Positive Self-Talk in Children30:36 Practical Tips for Positive Self-Talk32:42 Challenging Negative Core Beliefs35:37 Self-Compassion and Compassion for Others39:50 Attuning to Children's Emotions44:20 Reflective Listening with Children46:27 Final Thoughts on Self-Talk and Mental HealthWatch the episodes on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@FindingNoblePodcasthttps://findingnoble.com/We are hoping to help homes, families and educators everywhere…so please like, review, subscribe and... even share with friends and family looking for parenting support. To subscribe to helpful emails head here: https://findingnoble.com/about/Watch the episodes on Youtube:https://www.youtube.com/@FindingNoblePodcast

"If you have the chance to be the best in the world at something, even for the fourth time, you should probably take it." Caryn Davies, a 3x Olympic medalist, shares her extraordinary journey of ambition, resilience, and self-discovery in this unfiltered conversation. Caryn, who competed in three Olympic Games—Athens (2004), Beijing (2008), and London (2012)—amassed an impressive record: a silver medal in Athens and back-to-back gold medals in Beijing and London as part of the U.S. Women's Eight. She reflects on her initial decision to retire after London, only to feel drawn back to rowing years later, inspired by her enduring love for the sport and the possibility of a fourth Olympic appearance in Tokyo. Her return, however, was anything but straightforward. She recounts the struggles of reintegrating with a younger team, battling a significant injury, and ultimately being cut from the Tokyo squad. Despite not making the final team, Caryn explains how she redefined success: "Even though I didn't make it to the Olympic Games... I had won something more important than a gold medal: the respect and love of my teammates." In this conversation Caryn shares about her learnings from the most challenging moments, including the power of vulnerability, the importance of seeking feedback, and the delicate balance of intrinsic versus extrinsic motivation. She also offers unique insights into what it means to embody the Olympic ideals of excellence, respect, and joy in effort: "A true Olympian honors not just excellence but also friendship and respect, even amidst fierce competition." Caryn takes us behind the scenes of her life as an elite rower and shares how the lessons from her Olympic journey now guide her in her career as a lawyer. She shares how "being a normal person [not an elite athlete] is really hard." This conversation is a testament to the idea that greatness isn't just measured by medals but by the impact you leave on those around you.

Get more Billionaires Are Good on our patreon! Dave and Caleb dive into the many, many layers of reasons why Elon Musk is good. Everyone knows he's a billionaire, but do they know he is good? He is VERY good. He is good at being smart, he is good at making money, and he's a good DJ. Dave and Caleb also get into why they decided to leave behind the name What's it Called, the name of their podcast for the last three years, and they debut DOUG FACTS! Every episode ends with a segment called What's it Called, where Dave and Caleb rename a movie with YOUR help. They think gold is good, and hustling is good, and hustle culture is the BEST, because climbing over your brother to get one inch closer to the tiniest bit of money is good. People are nothing and status is everything and billionaires are good because they know that. Dave and Caleb also like the moon and curse words and how Joe Biden acts. We don't often consider the toll that full time ministry takes on pastors and leaders in the church. The role of leading people spiritually also comes at a cost — and often times that cost can be great! Today on the podcast I process this with Pastor Matt Brown, and specifically what to do when Ministry life is really hard. In our on-air counseling session, we talk about what it feels like to have your life and family under a microscope, to feel judged by bystanders, and to be rejected by people you love… as well as how to respond in healthy ways to these really hard life moments. If you or someone you know is in ministry this conversation is so important!
