A special episode of the podcast this week as PwC GPA Camogie Senior Player of the Year for 2024, Laura Hayes, joins Barry Drake for a chat. Last August, the Cork Senior Camogie team claimed a 30th All Ireland title for Cork, with Laura and her team-mates providing another memorable day for fans in the Rebel County. Laura chats to Barry about the success but also the work that goes on behind the scenes to help them to get to the All Ireland Final and to lift the O'Duffy Cup in Croke Park. With great success in their high-performance environment comes costs that they must meet and Cork Camogie have commenced on their fundraising drive for 2025. One of their key fundraising events is a Night at the Dogs in Curraheen Park on Saturday 15th February. Kevin takes an ecological approach to coaching and life in general and has a deep interest in Ecological Dynamics and the Constraints Led Approach to coaching and motor learning. He works with multiple teams and athletes online and offline, from Gaelic football to basketball to Aussie rules, helping them achieve their performance goals. This Sunday, Galway face Cork in the Littlewoods National Camogie League Division One Semi-Final in Nowlan Park in Kilkenny. Galway will be looking to retain the title they won in 2019 (The 2020 competition was not completed due to Covid) but will have to do it the hard way with Cork and either Kilkenny or Tipperary in the final in Croke Park on June 20th. Cathal Murray's side had a good group campaign with wins over Clare and Limerick while Cork beat Tipperary and Waterford. Both teams also missed out on the dreaded Quarter Finals. Galway Manager Cathal Murray spoke to Tommy Devane as they both looked forward to Sunday's game.
