Welcome back for another week of the freshest Zelda podcast around! Today, Andy and Al are taking a look over the series and trying to identify which dungeons mini-bosses are actually way cooler than the final boss of the dungeon. Dark Link? Yeah, way cooler than Morpha. Dangoro? Fyrus doesn't even come close to matching that fight. On and on, until we have a definitive list of ultra cool mini-bosses, some of which may surprise you. Plus, we give some love to some honorable mentions - mini-bosses that may not eclipse the final boss, but maybe reach the same level. All this PLUS a tooon of Zelda Dungeon Marathon talk! We detail what games we're playing, the new Zelda Cast merch, world record attempts, and... A Link to the Past using DDR pads to move?? You don't want to miss out! Follow The Zelda Cast! TRANSMITIDO EL 27 DE MAYO DE 2022 ¡Terminamos otra temporada! Welcome back to another DEFINITIVE RANKING. This time around, we're talking the bosses (and mini-bosses!) of Andy's favorite game, Ocarina of Time! With no fewer than 16 (woo!) creatures to rank, the gang has some pretty dastardly conversation about which bosses rule, and which bosses are a little average. Is steak more important than sizzle in a boss fight? And can Andy and Al compromise to determine the greatest fight in the game? We'll see! Ganondorf, Dark Link, Bongo Bongo, Dead Hands, Twinrova and SO MUCH MORE! Come tell us what you think about our rankings, and of course, let us know where you stand! Follow The Champions' Cast! Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we continue our series on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. We dive into the Water Temple (see what I did there?) as well as elaborating more about some topics we touched on last time. Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary. Sections played: Through the Water Temple Issues covered: what Tim means when he talks about Hyrule Field, lack of prior art for 3D hub and spoke, the beginnings of an open world, sight lines for blocking and enticing, breaking the prior structures, physically representing the choice space of macro decisions, looking at a level in a tool to get a sense of scale, getting different perspectives, seeing the DNA of 3D Zelda, getting a sense of a space, a return to Goron City, revisiting areas with new tools, stealing object-oriented quest design, filling in the slots and a sense of accomplishment, gaining levels or using an economy for reward, hybrid systems, allowing for player choice, renting tools in later versions, getting to Breath of the Wild and having all tools fairly early, not caring about remaining progression stuff, what happened to Jabbu-Jabbu?, dabbling with buoyancy and friction on the ice, having a tool that's only useful in one dungeon/Domain, having to give up something in a bottle, having a need for that analog stick, having to make decisions about how you'll use a container, concretizing the abstract, an area of effect key, how they devised their rules, Navi's... cryptic hint, using stores as a clue mechanism, a usability feature, replacing lost items, how many hearts Dark Link have, a camera problem with the Forest Temple boss, taking off the boots as soon as you get in the temple, the water level as a state you can change many times, the floating platforms as an item of interest, hookshot anchors, the potential influence of Tomb Raider and The Cistern, a quick aside on which versions we're playing, the creepy reveal of Dark Link, how we each defeated that boss, the evolution of wearables as also bindable in the future, upgrading a tool instead, making it clearer that you need another means of solving a puzzle, the cold hard truth about fishing games, variant gameplay should be easy, a preference for Tim's explanation for all the Legends of Zelda. Games, people, and influences mentioned or discussed: Dark Souls, Demon's Souls, Super Mario 64, Disney World, LucasArts, N64, Shadows of the Empire, Dark Forces, Rogue Squadron, DOOM (1993), TIE Fighter, World of Warcraft, Republic Commando, Dave Collins, Jesse Harlin, GTA III, Metroid, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Troy Mashburn, Arkham (series), Link Between Worlds, Skyward Sword, Kingdom Hearts, Diablo, Path of Exile, Torchlight II, Tomb Raider, 3DS, Chrono Trigger, Milo Kent, Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut, Okami, Jak and Daxter, Ben "from Iowa" Zaugg, Link to the Past, Switch, Dungeons & Dragons, Sam Thomas, Brian David Gilbert, Polygon, Halo, Vlad, Kirk Hamilton, Strong Songs, Ultima Underworld, Final Fantasy, Aaron Evers. Grab your Game Boy Advances (and bring your link cables too) as we do a deep dive this week into the single most underappreciated Zelda game - Four Swords Adventures! I just finished playing a solo run of this game for the first time and have lots of thoughts - how is it solo compared to multiplayer? Is it a pain to set up? How does one player control four Link's? And then we shift over to the story, which is actually bonkers and full of lore. Did the four Royal Guards of Hyrule inspire the Champions? How is Ganondorf back if this game takes place after he's supposed to be dead? We actually get an explanation of who Dark Link is and where he comes from! And what does it have to do with the Twili?? Even if you've never played Four Swords Adventures, you do not want to miss out on this show!

The eyes of Ganon are everywhere and we're going to talk about The Adventure of Link anyway! Featuring Ryan from Gameswithcoffee and Katy aka Absolutekaty, we talk about bragging rights and the first time we played Zelda II, and how that affected our perspective on the game, no shame and save states, why Zelda II is Ryan and Katy's favorite, the enjoyable action of the combat, the most unique traits in the game and what caught on in the rest of the series, some tawdry tart, the Peter Pan origins of Dark Link, the worst Zelda (by popular vote), a word for people wanting to play Zelda II for the first time, fair and unfair game design, Zelda II's difficulty difference from other NES hard games, patience and RPG elements, fan expectations and criticism, The Battle of Olympus and Faxanadu, what we would fix in Zelda II, and the abuse of the term "black sheep".Website: thewellredmage.com/2019/09/07/zelda-ii-the-adventure-of-link-1987-nes/Patreon: patreon.com/thewellredmageGuests: @AbsoluteKaty @GameswCoffeeSupport the show (http://www.patreon.com/thewellredmage)

Click to Play From METROCON 2008's Anime Human Chess Match. They're both dark, but they're on different sides of the board. This fight matches the sword of Dark Link (character from The Legend of Zelda) against the whipping chain of the Dark Prince (character from Prince of Persia).Once again we are reminded of the creativity and commitment that goes into bringing these characters to a live performance; amazing to see a (long) chain employed against a sword in this type of show. Great stuff.View the full-quality source file here: Dark Link vs Dark Prince of Persia (requires Quicktime).
