Today's guest is Tamara Keefe, founder and CEO of Clementine's Ice Cream, the St. Louis–based creamery known for its inventive flavors, ice cream parlors, and devoted following. Tamara started Clementine's after walking away from a successful corporate career, and has since grown the company from one tiny neighborhood ice cream parlor into a nationally recognized brand. Tamara joins host Kerry Diamond to talk about the childhood ice cream tradition that changed her life, why she decided to bet on herself, and how she built Clementine's from the ground up—first by selling to restaurants, delivering pints around St. Louis, and eventually opening her first parlor. She shares what makes Clementine's special, from its “organoleptic” parlor experience to its kosher-certified signature line, boozy ice creams, and dairy-free offerings. They also dive into Clementine's famous Gooey Butter Cake ice cream, Tamara's Route 66–inspired summer flavors, and why vanilla is the true test of a great ice cream maker. Plus, Tamara talks about Cone Con, her upcoming wedding, and why ice cream might just be the happiest food there is. Thank you to Fisher & Paykel & Nonino for supporting our show. We've got a fun episode for you all this week! We asked you guys to send us your Zelda themed "Would You Rather" questions. We'll be answering questions like: Would you rather see a remake of the Nintendo DS games with regular controls or get a Four Swords Adventures remake with online multiplayer? Would you rather have every new 3D Zelda take place on Breath of the Wild's map with a linear story line or never see a traditional dungeon again? Would you rather fight a Frox or a Stone Talus in real life? All this and more! Plus! Andy's thoughts on the fan-made Twilight Princess PC port, Dusklight. Come hang out with us! This week's Dollar Bin Discoveries get Ooey Gooey with two very different kinds of comic-book sludge. Jessika dove into Warriors of Plasm #1 for a heap of malleable alien weirdness, while Mike checked out Captain America #395 (featuring the unforgettable “The House That Dripped Dough!”) Sometimes the goo is cosmic. Sometimes it's pastry-related.
Russell does a shift with Graeme and Cole. It's about time for us to join in on some good ol' rumors and speculation! This week we're diving right in to discuss all things Ocarina of Time and what we would want to see from a possible remake! With a topic like this, there's always conversations to be had on improvements and changes; but since the Ocarina remake is still up in the air we'll also be theorizing just what kind of remake we could (potentially) be in for! Would we be looking at a simple resolution upscale from Ocarina of Time 3D? Or would this supposed remake be built from the ground up and feature an entirely re-imagined game? It's impossible to say anything for sure; but that won't stop us from trying! All this, PLUS The Great Deku Tree Lego set discontinuing, the release date announcement for Mineru's Construct Amiibo, and the release date change for the Legend of Zelda movie! What makes a game a good Kirby-adjacent recommendation? Is it the ability to use enemy powers? Smash Bros.-like controls? Or maybe just solid platforming with a round, memorable character? For this episode, we cover all of these elements and more with another list of non-Kirby games we think Kirby fans should try. We're deliberately going in this weeds with some of these choices, spanning multiple consoles and even one never-released Super Famicom title, and we hope you walk away having learned about at least a few new games you want to check out.Questions or comments about the show? We always love hearing from listeners, and you can reach us at mail@kirbyconversations.com or submit your question to us on social media.Sean also has a new podcast covering the GameCube, Dreamcast, and other games of the 2000s called Millennium Edition, and we hope you will subscribe to that one as well! Our Ōkami celebration comes to a close this week and to wrap things up we're looking ahead to the officially announced sequel! Back in 2024, Capcom revealed that the Ōkami sequel was in early development. After so many years since the original game's release there's a lot to discuss in regards to what we would want to see from a new game! This week we're listing off our suggestions and hopes on how the Ōkami sequel can improve on the original! From game pacing to story, game-play to technical improvements, and even the celestial brush itself! There's a lot to consider so come hang out with us as we go over our hopes for the Ōkami sequel! Our Ōkami celebration continues, as this week, we rank all eight dungeons in the Zelda-like title! From the not-quite-intro-but-close dungeons like Tsuta Ruins and Gale Shrine to the mini-dungeon Sunken Ship, to the literal mini-dunegon of the Imperial Palace to heavy hitters like the Moon Cave, Oni Island, and Wawku Shrine that would feel right at home in modern 3D Zelda titles, we go through them all and discuss the highs and lows. Plus, Al gives her thoughts after playing Ōkami for the first time about the game, its vibes, Issun, Orochi, Ninetails, and more! Over the next few weeks, we are celebrating 20 years of one of - if not THE - greatest Zelda-like games of all time: Ōkami! We start off with our 20 Year Retrospective, as Zelda Dungeon's Nicole Scott and Miranda Feller join the show to discuss what makes Ōkami so endearing, what qualities make it such a Zelda-like, our memories playing the game for the first time, our thoughts on Amatersau as a main character and Issun as a companion, how the Celestial Brush techniques felt in both motion controls and standard mode, how the games story is structured, and how Ōkami might be the ultimate good vibes game. The next few weeks are all about Ōkami as it celebrates this milestone anniversary, so if it's been a while or you've never played it, we hope you do! Support The Zelda Cast on Patreon! Is this bonus episode, Sean, Bridget, and Gigi are answering more listener questions, covering their favorite bosses, Kirby Super Star ninja tech, the mysterious Earth-like features of Kirby 64's Shiver Star, and more. Thank you to everyone who submitted questions to the show, and if you'd like to share something with us, like a discussion question or a recommendation for a future episode, we're always excited to hear from listeners. You can reach us at mail@kirbyconversations.com or submit your question to us on social media. We've gotten quite a few questions as well that were wondering general questions about Kirby, with some people wondering about the number of abilities in certain games, whether the character came before the vacuum cleaner brand, whether Kirby was a specific type of animal, why he is "so hungry," and others where we thought the best answer might just be to direct people to other resources about Kirby. You can listen to Masahiro Sakurai discuss his initial creation of Kirby here, and he also talks about the development history of many Kirby games on his YouTube channel. https://wikirby.com/, where Gigi is Editor-in-Chief, is an excellent resource for specific game details, and you can also look back at our episode library to see if we've looked at the history of a game you were curious about, too. So thank you to Kattari, Laney, William S., Saia, Allura G., Grey, Nick Randall, Erica S., Hannah Williamson, Griffin, Enrique S., and Janet N. for their questions that were focused on either who Kirby is or Kirby trivia. Hopefully answering in this format helps clear up the things you were curious about. :)Kirby Conversations is part of the Sound Stone Podcast Network, a collective of independent podcasters covering video game history. This week we have...Mike and Bill. Your hosts. You know, it's us! Back at it with plenty to talk about.Mike started out with his reading and it was about growth and wisdom. Hopefully as we sober up and over time, we start to grow and continue to grow. A little wisdom is nice also. It was a good conversation. We chatted about daylight savings, the friendly world, and loving oneself. We also tried to record a promo for a friend of ours. We know listeners have been asking for an episode on Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, so for this episode Sean and Gigi are finally unpacking the surreal charms of Kirby's anime series. Sean is relatively new to the show, while Gigi is more familiar and has watched it in multiple languages. Together they go over the history of the show's development, trivia, surprising connections between the animation team and other Kirby games, and their own thoughts on what it's like to watch this fun, if decidedly different, take on the Kirby universe in 2026. What did you think of Kirby: Right Back at Ya!? We are in the month of February, and this is a particularly memorable month as it is the 40th anniversary of the release of The Legend of Zelda. All month, we'll be celebrating, and to kick us off, Zelda Dungeon Owner and Founder Mases Hagopian joins us to discuss the games creation, its legacy, the inspiration behind the creation, what BETA versions looked like, the dungeons and enemies, and our personal memories of playing the game, both for the first time and in more modern settings! All this, PLUS some Zelda news recaps! Keep it locked in this month as we celebrate this incredible series and game! Support The Zelda Cast on Patreon! We are back and celebrating 400 episodes of the Zelda Cast a few weeks later, and we've brought some friends along too! This week, we're joined by Adrielle Munger, Jules Gia, Nicole Scott, and Rod Lloyd to play a classic forum game called Hurt & Heal! The premise is simple: 20 Zelda characters start off with zero points, and each turn, players need to take a point away from a character and give a point to a different character! Every 3 rounds, the character with the lowest point total is eliminated! This is an episode you might want to watch the video of just to keep track! We're also taking a minute to acknowledge the horrible couple of weeks in the real world - stay strong and stay safe out there, friends. Thank you for all the support over these last 8 years! We're back for another Hyrule Historia episode, where we focus on the lore of a specific topic and dive in to give context, our opinions, and our thoughts! This week we'll be diving into the strange and fantastical world of Termina from Majora's Mask! Just what is Termina? To answer such a question we'll be exploring fan theories, official Nintendo books, and sprinkling in our own thoughts to get to the bottom of this mystery! Come hang out as we talk all things Termina! All this, PLUS Our Nintendo Switch 2025 Year in Reviews, Al's thoughts on the recent Animal Crossing: New Horizons update, and our thoughts on the recently revealed Ocarina of Time Lego set!
