Everyone's favorite game show Zelda's Percentages returns this week! The premise is simple: we make a statement and then assign a percentage on how likely to be true that statement is, and this week, it's even easier, as every questions "______ will be a playable character in Age of Imprisonment". We go over some shoes ins, like Ganondorf or Sonia, to some borderline plausible characters, like Twinrova or Master Kohga, to some far out there longshots, like Din, Farore, and Nayru! It's time for some wild Nintendo debates! This week, we dive deep into The Legend of Zelda and answer the most important question: Which Zelda characters would make the best (or worst) spouses?
Nintendo and Sony Pictures are making a live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda, but that opens up a Breath of the Wild-sized amount of questions. What game should the movie adapt? Should it be standalone or the start of a saga? Who should play Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf? The brothers answer these questions and more with their pitches for the movie. We're back for part two of our Breath of the Wild / Tears of the Kingdom hot takes (and a few Age of Calamity ones in there too!). This week, we're tackling subjects like: was Yunobo the best character across the Wild era games? Do the Divine Beast dungeons offer a more welcoming for new players puzzle experience? Was it disappointing the Pirates in Lurelin were just Moblins? Are Remote Bombs the best rune/ability? Is Colgera seriously the most disappointing boss in the game? Was Calamity Ganon more interesting than Ganondorf? All this and so much more, PLUS our thought on the Nintendo Museum and strange American geography! Come have a blast with us! One of our favorite segments returns this week! We asked for YOUR spiciest hot takes regarding Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, and boy oh boy, you guys delivered, SO MUCH SO that this will be PART 1 of a two part episode! We're reacting to all sorts of takes, including: is Tears a great experience, or just glorified DLC? Is Cece's Mushroom hat better than the Couples Mask? Would Kohga have been a better choice of villain than Ganondorf? Do fighting bosses again in the Depths diminish the impact of fighting them in a dungeon? Speaking of, are the dungeons of Tears and Breath of the Wild better than many traditional dungeons? All this and so much more! If you want to contribute next week, feel free to do so, and we can even get Age of Calamity in on the action! Until next week! Support The Zelda Cast on Patreon! In honor of actor, LGBTQIA+ advocate, and poet VINCENT CALVARESE—a member of the CULT AND CLASSIC FILMS family—we are rebroadcasting a favorite, joyous episode: our “VIDEO GAME FAN FILM” pairing featuring the famed THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: HERO OF TIME (2009) and the lesser known and larger budgeted MEGAMAN (2010)! Sick of not having a film adaptation of the classic games we know and love? Well, these filmmaking fans promise to fill the void (and operate with a razor-thin budget!)It's a revisiting of "Attack of the Fan Films," this week on CULT and CLASSIC Films Podcast!Listen: Wherever you get your podcasts & at cultandclassicfilms.com/Watch: youtube.com/@CULTANDCLASSICFILMS/Subscribe at patreon.com/cultandclassicfilms for EXCLUSIVE cult movies sent to you every month!Buy exclusive films at cultandclassicfilms.com/Host: Nate WyckoffPanelists: Jeffrey Tucker & Greg JohnsonMore on THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: HERO OF TIME (2009):"Hero of Time" is a remarkable fan film that takes inspiration from the legendary video game series "The Legend of Zelda" by Nintendo. Released in 2009, this independently produced film captures the essence of the beloved franchise and brings it to life in a new and captivating way. The story follows the adventures of a young hero named Link, portrayed by actor Adam Boyes. Set in the world of Hyrule, Link embarks on a quest to rescue Princess Zelda, played by actress Hannah Fierman, from the clutches of the evil Ganondorf, portrayed by Kody Sabourin. Along the way, Link encounters various allies and enemies, as he learns to wield the power of the Triforce and becomes the hero of legend.Directed by Joerg Sprave, "Hero of Time" showcases impressive production quality considering its fan-made origins. The film expertly recreates the enchanting landscapes and iconic settings from the original video games. The attention to detail in the costumes, props, and practical effects pays homage to the source material while adding a unique cinematic flair. The performances in "Hero of Time" are commendable, with Adam Boyes embodying the quiet determination and bravery of Link. Hannah Fierman's portrayal of Princess Zelda is both strong and compassionate, providing a compelling counterpart to Link's heroism. Kody Sabourin delivers a suitably menacing performance as Ganondorf, capturing his villainous essence with flair and intensity. What truly sets "Hero of Time" apart is its ability to evoke the spirit of "The Legend of Zelda" series. The film seamlessly integrates elements from the games, such as iconic music, sound effects, and familiar items like the Master Sword and the Hylian Shield. Additionally, the film skillfully incorporates key themes from the franchise, including the concept of destiny, the power of friendship, and the triumph of good over evil.Despite its limited budget, "Hero of Time" manages to captivate fans of "The Legend of Zelda" and engage newcomers to the franchise. Its ambitious storytelling, combined with the dedication of its cast and crew, results in a fan film that is a loving tribute to the source material. "Hero of Time" serves not only as an enjoyable cinematic experience but also as a celebration of the enduring...
A trial takes place in the Kingdom of Hyrule. Princess Zelda herself is suing Nintendo's number one plumber, Mario, for defamation. Particularly galling is the comment that Mario's games are better than Zelda's, which the princess argues is patently untrue. Mucci represents Zelda and advocates for the open-world nature of The Legend of Zelda since its first NES entry and the strength of its story and lore. Huy, representing Mario, focuses on the breadth and variety of all the Mario games, from platformers perfected over the years, to racing, golf, tennis, and parties. OTR talks again about Nintendo's notorious litigiousness and discuss who should play certain roles as Link, Ganondorf, Wario, and Waluigi in upcoming movies -- and somehow come back to Danny DeVito. We're going to take a break from history to look at interesting rulers from fiction. This year, we're talking about Ganondorf, the main antagonist for most of the Legend of Zelda games. We'll look at how a cycle of violence thousands of years in the making effects things for a man born to be a king.Subscribe for more episodes as they come.Twitter: @Denim_CreekInstagram: denimcreekproMusic:Intro/Outro: “Life O' the Lavish” - Jules Gaia, “Epic Cinematic Inspiration Piano” - Protraxx, “Dayfreak” - White Bones, “Forest Walk” - Alexander Nakarada, “Zone Out” - Daniel Fridell, “Upbeat Stomp Rock” - Alexey Anisimov, “Reconcile” - Peter SandbergCopyright 2024, Denim Creek Productions

Buckle in, because it's finally time! After months and months, we're finally giving our full, SPOILER FILLED, thoughts on the story of Tears of the Kingdom! Did we like the Zonai being gods? How could Ganondorf and Mineru have been handled better? Was "Fake Zelda" the biggest missed opportunity of the game? After an amazing final battle, did the ending feel too cheap? Would a Days of Future Past gimmick have worked well here? And does Nintendo's insistence of players being able to do anything, any time, anywhere hurt the story they were trying to tell? All this, PLUS we talk about the Switch 2, September's hopeful Nintendo Direct, and DLC!
