In this episode, “Truth is a Pathless Land,” we speak with Transformative Inquiry Program faculty member Connie Jones to explore the micropolitical stakes of revolutionary spirituality through Krishnamurti's challenge to religious prescription, psychological conditioning, and egoic identification. We discuss techniqueless meditation, the primacy of awareness over truth, and the distinction between perception and cognition as a path beyond the representational mind. Our conversation engages the unknown as the ground of creativity and examines how culturally conditioned individualism is challenged by non-dual insights. We also explore Bohmian Dialogue as a transformative practice aligned with Krishnamurti's vision—an open, non-hierarchical mode of collective inquiry that suspends judgment and cultivates shared attention. Through this lens, we consider how his praxis opens onto a micro-political awareness capable of generating new forms of being and transformation beyond all systems of conditioning. Connie Jones, Ph.D., is a sociologist of religion who joined CIIS in 1994, having taught at several colleges and theology schools. Beginning with her doctoral dissertation on the caste system in India, she has pursued a long interest in the cultures and religions of the East, including the adoption of Hindu and Buddhist beliefs and practices in the West. She researches spiritual teachers as well as the evolution of new religious movements around the world. Throughout her career in higher education, she has helped establish women's studies departments and curricula in several colleges and has published research on women's status in India and feminist methods. She has been a member of a multidisciplinary team of scholars that investigates new religious movements around the world and has published articles on movements that are based on Eastern religious belief and practice. At present, Constance has a book, Krishnamurti: Self-Inquiry, Awakening, and Transformation, in press with Cambridge University Press. In this volume she outlines the life and teaching of the enigmatic 20th century philosopher and teacher J. Krishnamurti. She serves in scholarly positions with the Gurdjieff Institute for the Harmonious Development of Man (2017- present) Tbilisi, Georgia and the Publications Committee of the Krishnamurti Foundation of America (2018-present), Ojai, California. The Living Process episode 27 with guest Jonathan Foust Energy Flow and The Pathless Path I'm very happy to welcome Jonathan Foust to this episode. Jonathan has a lifetime of spiritual practice to share. He has dedicated his life to yoga practices, Buddhist meditation, mindfulness practice as well as Focusing. In our conversation we touch on how Focusing fits with these various somatic practices and the spiritual understanding of energy flow in the body. Jonathan shares his own personal journey and questions such as what body are we working with and what does it mean to heal? We discuss Focusing as pointing to the pathless path and how close it is to the RAIN model as used by Jonathan and his wife, meditation teacher Tara Brach. We wondered whether therapy really offers much more than these other effective and compassionate approaches. Jonathan offers a weekly talk on his website and is working on guidance for being with physical pain. We end by talking a bit about how to respond to the uncertainties and suffering in contemporary societies. Jonathan Foust, MA, CSA, is a guiding teacher with the Insight Meditation Community of Washington and a founder of the Meditation Teacher Training Institute in Washington. A senior teacher and former president of Kripalu Center, he leads retreats, trainings and classes around the United States and works individually with those interested in healing and spiritual awakening. He's trained in a wide range of healing modalities, including Focusing (Certified Trainer), Kripalu Yoga, Trager Work, Cranio-Sacral, Reiki and Polarity Therapies to name a few. He has a Master of Arts in Education and certifications in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Focusing and Dharma practices. He has spent decades in Ashram and spiritual communities and now offers body-centred inquiry on retreats and intensives. For many years he has lived near Washington DC with his wife psychologist and mediation teacher Tara Brach. On this episode of Living Myth, edited from a Shift Network Summit on mysticism, Michael Meade suggests that we each arrive at turning points where the map we have been given does not match the territory we find ourselves in. Because each soul is unique, each life journey leads to the pathless path where we must awaken to the dream of our own life. When we open the eyes of the heart, we find the ways of the mystic souls and visionary seers, the outsiders and wounded healers who hold the threads to the underlying unity of life. In seeking after what the soul desires we become pilgrims with no home but the path the soul would have us follow. As the old proverb says, “Before you begin the journey, you own the journey. Once you have begun, the journey owns you.” After all, what good is a dream that doesn't test the mettle of the dreamer? What good is a path that doesn't carry us to the edge of our capacity and then beyond that place? A true calling involves a great exposure before it can become a genuine refuge. In his iconic speech "Truth is a Pathless Land," Jiddu Krishnamurti profoundly challenges the conventional notion of seeking truth through established paths or traditions. He posits that truth, being boundless and beyond the confines of any dogma or system, cannot be found through adherence to doctrines or institutions. Krishnamurti invites individuals to embark on a journey of self-discovery, free from the constraints of external authority or belief systems. He emphasizes the necessity of personal inquiry, inner reflection, and an unencumbered mind to truly grasp the essence of truth. His message resonates as a call to liberation and authenticity in the pursuit of understanding reality._______________________________________Help us to keep providing free content:https://www.buymeacoffee.com/wisefool_______________________________________ WisefoolPress.com: The Search Is Overhttps://www.wisefoolpress.com/ Jedvaita.com: The Way the World Unfoldshttps://jedvaita.com/ Amazon Jed McKenna Pagehttps://www.amazon.com/-/e/B001JS057A _______________________________________ The fool who persists in his folly will become wise.-William Blake_______________________________________

Like many hard-working and driven college graduates, Paul entered the corporate world after college ready to work hard, achieve success and climb the corporate ladder. But through a series of events before and after business school, Paul ended up taking an alternative path, and evolving his views on life and work. Much of which is written about in his book The Pathless Path as well as his newsletter, Boundless.During our conversation, Paul spoke about his career journey after graduating from MIT Sloan and with an MBA, and what ultimately led him to leaving his corporate career for a path of exploration, as well as the many learnings, lessons, and experiences Paul got along the way. We also spoke about his book, and the applications and insights that can be relevant to those who are reflecting on their career aspirations.

In this conversation we talk about how important it is to define enough, develop an immunity to what other people are doing, and his mantra, “coming alive over getting ahead.” Be sure to listen to our Free Time conversation 205: Why Paul Millerd Turned Down a $200K Two-Book Traditional Publishing Deal, and our conversation for Paul's podcast, Pathless Path on 156: Saying "no" to something good. How do defined tracks and cultural status symbols passed on from previous generations affect a person's life choices? When we break with those paths is that being self-employed, an entrepreneur, a creative, or something else? In this episode, we challenge the traditional notions of career paths and entrepreneurial journeys, with thought leader and author of "The Pathless Path" Paul Millerd. The conversation delves into his unconventional road to professional and creative fulfillment, how technology is creating more opportunity for people to follow the Pathless Path, and the role of storytellers & creatives in innovation ecosystems like Austin. Episode HighlightsPaul highlights the concepts from his book "The Pathless Path" that challenge traditional career paths and encourage unique, individual journeys in our evolving economy.Paul emphasizes the significant shift in work and career trajectories due to changing economic trends and advancements in technology, heralding new opportunities for autonomy and creativity.Alternative funding methods like the Thiel Fellowship and Emergent Ventures provide support for unconventional ideas and experiments, reshaping solopreneurship and entrepreneurship beyond just traditional VC-backed startups. The conversation underscores the role creatives historically have played in innovation ecosystems and how today that role is also being filled by digital storytellers, comedians, podcasters, creators, YouTubers, and Instagrammers. As Austin continues its rapid growth, rising costs pose a challenge to its creative scene, but acknowledging these obstacles allows for the formulation of strategies to maintain an inclusive and accessible hub for creativity and innovation. What's next, Austin? “I actually do think storytellers, creators, YouTubers, Instagrammers, they're sort of underrated. They're storytellers that can link those different worlds. I think creative people are very natural at shifting between ideas and crowds and groups. Austin has been able to cultivate a scene around that, and I think it will continue to emerge and grow. What will it look like in ten years? The history of Austin is that scenes have always emerged and sort of faded away. So, what is the next scene? How do you keep cultivating that environment? Is it going to become too expensive to nurture and cultivate those scenes? I don't know. But yeah, it's going to be interesting to watch.”Paul Millerd: Website, Podcast, YouTube, X/TwitterThe Pathless Path Austin Next Links: Website, X/Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn

Paul Millerd joins Bradley to discuss what is truly valuable in work and life. He developed his memoir, The Pathless Path, following a health crisis and deep self reflection. “Who am I if not a worker?” That's the question that Paul asked himself amid a health crisis after business school and one that kickstarted an almost decade-long journey of experiments, adventure, and self-reflection. The Pathless Path is a personal story, a deep dive into the history of work, and a bold proposal of a new story for thinking about how work fits into our lives. The Pathless Path is Paul Millerd's earnest attempt a new story for thinking about work and life. It's a shift from “getting ahead” to coming alive. It's learning to develop a healthy relationship with fear, uncertainty, and discomfort. It's also about unleashing inner creativity, finding the others, redefining success, and shifting from thinking about work as something that comes with a paycheck towards it as something that you want to commit to over the long-term. > JOIN THE PRIVATE LEADERSHIP PODCAST COMMUNITY!
