Part 1 of 2: Healing from Covid Trauma This week on The Feds we are joined by (Ret.) Lt. Col. David Meece and his wife Jennifer. David served in the Army and Air Force for a total of 33 years, first as enlisted, and later as an officer. David and Jennifer shed light on the challenges they faced due to the COVID-19 mandate, and discuss David's decision to stand firm on his convictions and refuse the shots on moral, ethical, and legal grounds. The decision not only ended his career, but it took a significant emotional and spiritual toll. Their story is one of struggle, but also of courage and inspiration. In addition to his story, we discuss the role advocacy plays with military promotion, the betrayal many military servicemen have experienced due to the COVID-19 mandates, and the subsequent trauma they have suffered. David is a father of nine and husband to Jennifer, founder of Ebenezer Therapy Services. He values dedication, service, and excellence. As a veteran having served in combat and command roles, David brings unique perspectives gained from those experiences to everyday life. Roger was a radio DJ in "the good old days" of radio. In the 80s & 90s when radio was at it's peak, Roger was on the air each day and is the sole reason Rebecca St. James became a household name! haha well that might be pushing it but that's the story he's sticking to. Roger shares his insights into the Christian music industry and radio, as well as a wonderful parenting metaphor for us all to learn from. Marco and Sean here, and we are thrilled to bring you a special episode today. For the third consecutive year, we've been invited to host a panel for an event that's become a cornerstone for the infosec community. And guess what? We've been involved right from its inception. That's right! We are talking about the SOC Analyst Appreciation Day™, a day designed to shed light on the unsung heroes of the cybersecurity world. Now, for those new to this, let us dive a bit deeper. The life of a SOC analyst isn't always glamorous. They often find themselves caught in the whirlwind of immense workload, sometimes feeling like the weight of the entire digital universe rests on their shoulders. Overworked and, sadly, often underappreciated, these analysts face challenges that can lead to burnout and, ultimately, a high turnover rate.Enter Devo, the brilliant minds behind the establishment of the SOC Analyst Appreciation Day™. Their mission? To offer a hearty shoutout to these hardworking individuals and to prompt organizations globally to step up, recognizing the importance of their analysts' satisfaction and mental well-being.If you've been following the event, you know that this year was jam-packed with on-demand content that was nothing short of enlightening. With presentations from some of the most influential thought leaders in the infosec community, topics ranged from real-life use cases to the intricacies of SOC automation and the critical importance of managing mental well-being in such high-pressure roles. But, listeners, we have a treat for you. Today, we're going to dive deep into one of the event's highlights. We had the privilege of moderating a panel that, trust us, you won't want to miss. So, whether you're a budding SOC analyst, a seasoned pro, or just someone with a keen interest in the world of infosec, sit back, relax, and let's delve into some insightful discussions. This panel will take a look at the ins and outs of SOC life. From the tier one analyst role to leadership positions to everything in between, the day-to-day in each type of SOC can look very different — and this panel will cover all perspectives. In this episode, I speak to David Meece, a SOC Analyst and avid advocate for those looking to get hired in cyber security.
David shares with us how important networking and building your personal brand is. How he went from 100 connections on Linked In to 13,000 followers and over 400 subscribers to his YouTube channel in 11 months. David talks about how he just jumped in. Even though it may seem daunting but you have to find a focus and go all in for it. You can pivot it later, but really dig in and find a focus to give you a foothold. You don't necessarily need experience, that is something you get when you throw yourself into something whole heartedly. Servant leadership, and being earnest in your willingness to help is a good way to forward the community. Show up for others and people with show up for you. Whole Life Stewardship: Financial Planning, Investment Management - Money, Abilities, Time, Health
This week David Meece joins Ashley to discuss his career building dental practices, time as a lawyer and stewardship perspectives.
ABOUT THIS SHOW: He was addicted to pain meds and crack cocaine. He lost his way and was losing his wife. There was nothing this side of Heaven that could restore Adam’s life or his marriage. Everything came crashing down. In desperation Adam entered the year-long residential recovery program of Adult & Teen Challenge in Shedd, Oregon. Later his wife divorced him but what God did next was a restoration Adam never thought possible. CLOSING SONG: He is the Reason by David Meece www.davidmeece.com
What do healthy Christian relationships look like? Join Shine.FM Ministry Director Brian McIntyre and his son Jake for this week's Valentine's Day chat around the kitchen table as they discuss the different types of love, what is successful dating and the recipe for Godly relationships. In Music Matters, new music from Hope Darst, Echosmith, and an oldie, but goldie from David Meece. In Culture Shock, some things that Tom Hanks learned while playing Fred Rogers. Be sure to subscribe to get all our Shine.FM podcasts.
Let me Soothe you 2 Sleep as I lull you to sleep by singing a Christmas carol, “One Small Child”, written by David Meece. This song is sung by yours truly. Blessings & Merry Christmas.
Smooth listening all the way alltså.

The founder and frontman of Princeton Revival, Gregg’s love for music expressed itself at a very early age. Deeply influenced by his father’s jazz vinyl collection, he picked up his first pair of drum sticks at age two and eventually won first place all-state jazz drummer in his home state of New York. After High School Gregg toured as a founding member of His Band with best friend, Bill Randall. His Band played with several acts including Amy Grant and David Meece. Gregg also wrote the #1 CCM single “Father” with Morgan Cryar and “If He Goes Before Me” with Barry Graul—a #2 hit for White Cross. He earned a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Studies from Southern Seminary and served as the Senior Pastor of two churches. He was a founding board member of The Augustine School, a Christian Classical school in West Tennessee, and also served as the Dean of the Emerging Leaders Program in Southwest Florida. Gregg’s burden is that men discover how the Gospel transforms their lives and roles by growing in their knowledge of God through His Word and in community (with a fine cigar and microbrew whenever possible)
