Anger, represented by the Rasa of Raudra, arises when the ego feels neglected, threatened, or unfulfilled. It manifests as frustration, irritation, or rage, often clouding our judgment and affecting our well-being. Unchecked, anger can lead to resentment, health issues, and strained relationships. However, anger can also be motivating, driving us to confront injustices and create positive change, as seen in peaceful protests for civil rights. To manage anger, practice the RAIN technique: Recognize the signs of anger, Allow it safely, Investigate its cause, and Nurture yourself. Shifting from anger to wonder, or Adbhuta, can help dissolve ego attachments, expanding our perspective. By being curious and open to the emotions we experience, we can transform anger into a force for growth and compassion. Embrace your humanity, and learn to work skilfully with your emotions, using practices like breathing exercises and mindful reflection to regain balance and clarity. To read more and to practice with Zephyr Wildman, click here. In this episode, we continue our exploration of the essential human emotions known as Rasas and how we can use yogic tools to embrace our humanity and make skilful choices that guide us toward lasting fulfilment and inner freedom. This practice invites us to engage with undesirable and uncomfortable emotions, using them as teachers to deepen our self-awareness and growth. We focus on the Rasas of Disgust and Love. Vibhatsa, or Disgust, is the feeling of dissatisfaction with oneself or others, often expressed through harsh judgment, criticism, and aversion. Disgust arises from a distorted sense of self, known as Asmita, which creates a false separation between ourselves and others. It can manifest as arrogance or self-loathing, reinforcing patterns of shame, guilt, and resistance (Dvesa), which perpetuate suffering. The antidote to Disgust is Shringara, the Rasa of Love. Love takes many forms...devotion, admiration, tenderness, compassion...and reminds us of our true nature. Through the practice of RAIN (Recognize, Allow, Investigate, Nurture), we learn to pause in moments of self-judgment and criticism, making space for healing and self-compassion. This process helps us move beyond aversion and open to the ocean of love that resides within. We ask ourselves: What disgusts us? Who do we find repulsive? What parts of ourselves do we struggle to accept? By practicing radical acceptance and loving awareness, we nurture the parts of us that feel inadequate or unworthy, fostering a deeper connection to ourselves and others. As Cozolino, an attachment psychologist, reminds us, "It is not the survival of the fittest, but the survival of the nurtured." Lean into the pause where love resides and discover the healing power of compassionate self-inquiry.To read more and to practice with Zephyr Wildman, click here. On today's show we speak with Lebanese-born, australian-based filmmaker Samia Mikhail about her poetry which responds to the barbarism of imperialism, while feeling the pain of the oppressed and the murdered, and expressing the pain and rage of all that is left of humanity as we watch senseless wars created in the Global South by ruling classes of the Global North. How can one write any other poetry when people make money from killing others and stealing their fields? We don't beg emotions from those who don't have any. Oh God, how cruel people can be.Samia's poetry and writing can be found at the following Arabic publications: Ilaaf, Ana AlAaghar, Eihterafaat kinaah,Thakafaat, Kitabaat, Horraas alwatan, Kalimaat bawhh al-rouh, Rasa'el maa kahwat Alsabaah.

No RIXC aisberga redzamākā un pieejamākā daļa man šķiet mākslas centra galerija Lenču ielā 2.

Rasa, meaning “nectar” or “essence,” captures the richness of life's emotional experiences, much like the flavours of a meal. Just as the Gunas influence taste...Rajas being too intense, Tamas too dull, and Sattva offering the perfect balance...our emotions shape our human experience. As Robert Svoboda says, “Existence without juice is dry and tasteless.”Tantric tradition recognizes nine Rasas, the core emotional flavors of life: Disgust, Fear, Anger, Sadness, Love, Courage, Wonder, Joy, and Calmness. Each Rasa is born from an underlying Bhava, our true feeling state, giving depth and meaning to our experiences. In this practice, we explore these Rasas through movement, allowing emotions to surface and shift naturally. By embracing the full spectrum of our emotions with awareness and courage, we open to greater self-understanding and fulfillment. Let yourself fully taste, savour, and express the richness of your inner landscape. To read more and to practice with Zephyr Wildman, click here. To support Zephyr Yoga Podcast, donate here. A poem from Rilke converses with the Hindu aesthetic system of rasa.A good book about rasa.Rilke's full poem:The Man WatchingBy Rainer Maria RilkeI can tell by the way the trees beat, afterso many dull days, on my worried windowpanesthat a storm is coming, and I hear the far-off fields say thingsI can't bear without a friend,I can't love without a sister. The storm, the shifter of shapes, drives onacross the woods and across time, and the world looks as if it had no age:the landscape, like a line in the psalm book,is seriousness and weight and eternity. What we choose to fight is so tiny! What fights with us is so great. If only we would let ourselves be dominatedas things do by some immense storm,we would become strong too, and not need names. When we win it's with small things, and the triumph itself makes us small. What is extraordinary and eternaldoes not want to be bent by us.I mean the Angel who appearedto the wrestlers of the Old Testament:when the wrestlers' sinewsgrew long like metal strings,he felt them under his fingerslike chords of deep music.Whoever was beaten by this Angel(who often simply declined the fight)went away proud and strengthenedand great from that harsh hand, that kneaded him as if to change his shape.Winning does not tempt that man. This is how he grows: by being defeated, decisively,by constantly greater beings.–Translated by Robert BlyFree Story & Media ConsultationComment and Subscribe here This is a public episode. (EN) LIVING ABROAD, FROM EMPLOYEE TO RETIRED In this conversation I confirmed my perception that Earth hasn’t had borders. By removing all historical bias and mistaken ideas which separate one from another cultures, peoples, languages and beliefs, we can truly embrace foreign lands that welcome us and fully experience the beauty of a journey of global patriotism. I invite everyone to meet David Saunders, a British with a free spirit, who made an outstanding career in United Nations, managing important projects in various areas for economic and social development, integration and well-being of populations in South Sudan, Albania, Kazakhstan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kenya, Malaysia, Uganda, Oman, Qatar, Pakistan, Brazil, among others. After this brief introduction, we can only sit down relaxed and curious to try to learn lessons of resilience, humility, sagacity and empathy from someone who lived 500 years in his shining 60s, now retired in Portuguese lands, dedicating himself to refined pleasures of board games, pool table, good draft beers and chatting with his multinational friends. Come sailing the waves of nations far from the tourist hubs to understand what it really is living as an expatriate, working, dedicating yourself to the routine of exotic countries, understanding the meaning of “mission”, when and where the value of simple things amplifies the meaning of individual and collective well-being. Neutrality, simplicity, friendships and good relationships and identifying the myth that takes you away from your mission are always keys to success. This week, we're joined by the brilliantly warm and wildly talented Rosie Kellett - writer, food creator, and author of In For Dinner. From comforting nostalgia to weeknight saviours, Rosie takes us through her dream menu from breakfast to pudding. We get into her favourite hangover-busting salt and vinegar potato soup, a citrusy macaroni-spaghetti hybrid born out of broke London flatshares, and the pudding inspired by her Grandma Margaret's legendary raspberry cakey concoctions (somewhere between a tiramisu and a trifle). We also talk about her love for Polish sauerkraut—her desert island essential—and a pierogi-inspired soup that's become a go-to. Rosie takes us to Emilia-Romagna for some erbazzone and shares why she sees Parmesan as a kind of culinary medicine. There's big love for London favourites too, including the crisp pink dosa at Rasa, deep chilli heat at Xi-an Impressions, and perfect service at Sessions Arts Club. And then there's the Hall of Fame dish: a shrimp and scallion pancake from Piazz that, in Rosie's words, made her feel whole again. We also get into her biggest food trend icks, why certain garnishes should be banned, her failed acting career and the one word she'd love to see retired from recipe vocabulary forever (spoiler: it's “hack”).Rosie's new book In For Dinner is full of the kind of recipes you'll actually want to cook—comforting, clever, and affordable. Amin. (Dod).

In this conversation, Jacob Kyle and James D. Reich discuss the concept of Rasa in Indian aesthetics and literary theory. They explore the idea that poetry and art can evoke a specific emotional experience in the audience, known as Rasa. They delve into the theories of Anandavardhana and Abhinavagupta, who developed the concept of Rasa and its associated elements, such as Dhvani. They also discuss the relationship between aesthetics and theology in Abhinavagupta's work, highlighting how his understanding of Rasa is deeply rooted in his non-dualistic and monistic philosophy. The conversation touches on the ethical implications of Rasa and its potential to enhance our understanding of emotions and our connection to the divine.James D. Reich is the author of Save to Savor the Meaning: The Theology of Literary Emotions in Medieval Kashmir, a compelling exploration of the intellectual history of the region, focusing on the intersection of aesthetics and the philosophical theology of Kashmir Shaivism. His work engages deeply with religion in South Asia, including Hinduism and Buddhism, as well as Sanskrit literature, the theory of religious studies, and the interplay between literature and religion. ----- To learn about the comprehensive contemplative curriculum in Sādhana School, and to use coupon code CHITHEADS250 go here: https://enroll.embodiedphilosophy.com/sadhana-school-list or learn more and enroll in the "Rasa Theory: Emotions and Imagination for Meditation & Self-Realization" Spring Sādhana only - https://enroll.embodiedphilosophy.com/spring-2025-sadhana-school.
