Tuhan Yesus memberkati.

Amin. (Dod).

The Secret and the SaffronA history of the Druze people and their cuisine. The Druze are a unique and often misunderstood community in the Middle East. Their history is more than just religious debates and politics; it is a living story shaped by family, faith, and food. To understand the Druze, you have to imagine traveling from the secret meetings of 11th-century Cairo to the bright kitchens of the Galilean and Lebanese mountains, where the smell of spices tells a story of survival and identity. The Druze faith began during a time of great spiritual and political change. In the early 11th century, Cairo was the center of the Fatimid Caliphate, which supported Isma'ili Shi'ism. In 1007, a Persian mystic and scholar named Hamza ibn Ali ibn Ahmad began teaching a new belief. He said that the divine intellect had appeared in human form as the Fatimid Caliph al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah. This belief led to a dramatic conflict. Caliph al-Hakim was a mysterious and controversial leader, and the idea of his divinity became central to the new faith. Another preacher, Muhammad bin Ismail al-Darazi, also supported the movement, but Hamza thought his ideas were too extreme. Al-Darazi called himself “the Sword of the Faith” and taught an incarnationist view that Hamza strongly opposed. In one thousand 18, al-Darazi was killed, and his name became linked to the community as a heretic. Strangely, outsiders began calling the group Druze after him, even though they have always called themselves al-Muwaidūn, or “the Unitarians.”The new faith quickly faced strong opposition from religious leaders in Cairo. Riots started, and the movement was forced underground. Things got worse when Caliph al-Hakim disappeared during a night ride in one thousand 21 and was thought to be assassinated. His successor, al-Zahir, began harshly persecuting the Druze. Hamza went into hiding, and leadership passed to al-Muqtanā Bahāʾ al-Dīn. To escape danger in Egypt, Druze missionaries fled to the remote mountains of Syria and Lebanon, where they built the communities that still exist today. In 1,043, al-Muqtanā decided that no new converts would be allowed, so from then on, only those born into the faith could be Druze. The Druze faith is private and closed to outsiders. Their holy texts, called the Rasa'il al-hikmah (Epistles of Wisdom), are fully known only to a spiritual group called the uqqāl, or “the wise.” Most Druze, known as the juhhāl, live regular lives centered on family and community, while still respecting the main beliefs of their faith.Druze beliefs come from many sources. Their faith started with Isma'ili Shi'ism but was also influenced by Greek philosophy, especially Neoplatonism and Pythagoreanism, and by Gnosticism. This mix has created beliefs that make them different from their neighbors. A key idea is reincarnation (taqammus), which holds that the soul is eternal and reborn as another Druze person after death. This continues until the soul reunites with the Cosmic Mind. The Druze honor many prophets from Abrahamic religions, such as Jethro (Shuʿayb), Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad, seeing them as different forms of the same divine truth. Over time, they have developed a unique ethnic identity. They speak Arabic and share a culture, but their roots are often traced to Arab tribes who settled in the Levant before and during the early Islamic period. To really understand the Druze, you need to share a meal with them. Their food reflects their history, shaped by the land, hospitality, and quiet pride. Mountain cooking uses simple, high-quality ingredients like bulgur wheat, olives, lamb, goat yogurt, and a careful mix of spices. Each dish passed down through generations tells the story of the community.Read the full content More Podcasts Chef Walters Food ToursChef Walters Cooking School

We have instances of others who, by the definition of nigranta, are bereft of any wealth or good qualities or education, and Mṛgāri is given by Lord Caitanya as an example of somebody who had no qualification whatsoever, but because of the qualities of The Lord, He became attracted. We need some time and practice; there's a way in which Nārada Muni is an example of this when he got association with the pure devotees in his home for two seasons. Rainy season, four months, about eight months. Then they left, the sages, and his mother died. He was left alone, single parent home, and he already, as a child, felt fearless, so he went out by himself, just depending on the Lord and seeing the Lord's energies, and he came to a forest. He sat down in his practice, and then the Lord revealed Himself to him in such a way that he was stimulated—every sense in his body was connected to Kṛṣṇa in transcendence—and then he lost it.Then Kṛṣṇa spoke to him in an unembodied voice, and said that you still have some work to do, and therefore you use this lifetime. This is a free sample. People may become attracted to Kṛṣṇa, and then at some point, because of lingering mental impressions, they may feel harassed and waylaid, but they never forget the quality of the Lord. This is also stated by Nārada in the chapter we're reading now in first canto, fifth chapter. He says: na vai jano jātu kathañcanāvrajen mukunda-sevy anyavad aṅga saṁsṛtim smaran mukundāṅghry-upagūhanaṁ punar vihātum icchen na rasa-graho janaḥ (SB 1.5.19) He said, the even if somebody, if somebody, takes to devotional service, and then they fall down again—which you see, happens more frequently than not, and it depends on the level of the fall down—but people go through things. It's a harrowing life we live, and there are many different phases we go through. But Nārada says if somebody takes to devotional service—na vai jano jātu kathañcanāvrajen mukunda-sevy anyavad aṅga saṁsṛtim—and they fall down from the process, he said, they'll keep remembering the taste that they got. Rasa-graha, there's a rasa they get, and graha— it keeps grabbing them again and again. Commentary by Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura, he says, people, they're devotees, and they fall down. They're haunted by rasa. It's like, "Hey, why you are wallowing in this material world? Remember the taste, the quality of Kṛṣṇa." Kṛṣṇa shines that quality forth in the heart of the devotee. So that attraction for Kṛṣṇa pulls the soul back into the devotional service at some point, so that it's never lost. And once having tasted that, then one remembers it again and again. Walk with me into a powerful story of loss, rebirth, and fierce integrity in this unforgettable episode of Intimate Conversations: Dark Night to Divine Light with Lopa van der Mersch, Founder and returning CEO of RASA, mother, and devoted student of Tibetan wisdom traditions. Lopa returns to the podcast for her first public conversation after years of deep initiation. She opens up about the season that dismantled everything she thought she was. Divorce, single motherhood, stepping away from leadership, and the sudden loss of her home in a devastating fire that erased nearly every external marker of identity. What followed was not collapse, but a profound rebirth. We explore how this identity death reshaped her leadership, her spirituality, and her relationship with compassion. Lopa shares how people pleasing and subtle compromise once shaped her path, and why returning as CEO required an uncompromising devotion to integrity, even when it did not make financial sense. Together, we dive into Tibetan wisdom, nervous system healing, and the difference between compassion that depletes and compassion that nourishes. Lopa reveals the daily rituals that now anchor her life, from unplugging at night and beginning mornings in practice, to allowing devotion to pulse between motherhood and leadership. We also talk about embodiment, pleasure, and beauty as necessities, not luxuries, and how RASA was born not as a product, but as a devotion to creating businesses that heal rather than harm, that nourish both people and the planet. We also talk about: -Identity death and rebuilding a life after everything falls away -Leading with integrity when compromise no longer feels possible -Tibetan wisdom as a refuge in grief, betrayal, and loss -Compassion that includes the self, not just others -Nervous system rituals that support sustainable leadership -Embodiment, sensual grounding, and pleasure as medicine -Conscious business as a path of healing and service This episode is a living transmission of what it means to lead from truth, trust yourself again, and build a life that is sane, humane, and deeply soul-led. Guided by years of deep spiritual study—and rare Tibetan masters who helped reshape her understanding of energy, purpose, and resilience—Lopa brings a powerful blend of grounded business strategy and embodied intuition to everything she does. Her mission now is simple and radical: to build companies that nourish rather than deplete, that consciously cultivate the human virtues that make life worth living and business worth doing, and to show that commerce can be a force for real good without sacrificing our health or our humanity. Holly Swenson's presence instantly softens a room. An award-winning author, registered nurse, wellness advocate, and mother of four boys, she carries a rare blend of grounded wisdom, calm authority, and deep maternal devotion. Her life and work are rooted in presence, intentionality, and the belief that how we live and parent today shapes generations to come. Welcoming Holly to this episode of Intimate Conversations, opening Season 14, Dark Night to Divine Light, there was a felt sense of steadiness, elegance, and emotional safety as we explored what it truly means to parent and live from a regulated nervous system, a full heart, and a conscious yes to life. In this nourishing and deeply practical conversation we explored: How Holly cultivated her calm not because life was easy, but because adversity taught her how to become the calm in the storm, supported by daily rituals of quiet, meditation, and intentional presence. What it actually looks like to create non-negotiable space for oneself as a parent, including waking before the household, lighting a candle, making tea, and tending her inner world before tending to everyone else. Why boundaries are acts of love, not control, and how consistency, kindness, and clarity help children feel safe, respected, and empowered to develop their own sense of self. The importance of co-regulation in partnership and parenting, and how choosing to remain grounded instead of reactive can de-escalate emotional storms and restore connection in moments of overwhelm. How Holly and her husband stay aligned as parents through open communication, mutual respect, and shared values, creating a stable emotional foundation for their family. Why screen boundaries matter deeply for mental health, including no phones at the dinner table, no phones in bedrooms, and intentional unplugging during family time and vacations to restore true connection. Holly's powerful STOP, DROP, GROW & GLOW framework, beginning with slowing down and self-reflection, releasing old patterns and trauma, cultivating supportive habits, and finally embodying a life of aligned self-care and presence. Her reflections on motherhood as a sacred initiation, including releasing guilt around staying home, honoring caregiving as meaningful work, and trusting the seasons of life as they unfold. The truth that children are some of our greatest teachers, offering wisdom, presence, and reminders to slow down, notice, and live with wonder. Why softness is not weakness, and how strong, loving leadership in families comes from being both firm and tender, embodied and emotionally available. This conversation is an invitation to pause, breathe, and remember what truly nourishes a family and a soul. It reminds us that presence is medicine, that boundaries create safety, and that when parents tend their own inner world, they give their children a lifelong gift of emotional resilience and love. There are some moments when my life gently asks me to sit down, soften, feel and tell the truth. This solo episode of Season 14 marks a moment, recorded at sunset in Santa Fe, opening under the theme Dark Night to Divine Light. This episode is a quiet, powerful homecoming and nourishing personal reflection of why I have returned to solo episodes and why I coach. Not from theory. Not from branding. But from lived experience, grief, integration, and devotion to Truth. In this tender and revealing episode, I explore what happens when we stop suppressing our feelings and stop performing to keep others happy. I speak about how every time we abandon a part of ourselves, that separation echoes outward into our relationships. And how, when we bring those parts home, something in us finally rests. Our nervous system softens. Our presence deepens. Our intimacy becomes real. This is what it means to meet ourselves, so we can be truly met by another. I share about moving into my new home in Santa Fe after seven years of living nomadically, and the grief that arose when I let go of a dream that did not unfold the way I once imagined. The grief associated with accepting life as it is, rather than how I hoped it would be, made me melancholy. And yet that acceptance became a doorway to peace, power and deeper alignment. This episode explores why living in the "why?" keeps us stuck in our heads, spinning in analysis, while avoiding the feelings that actually want our presence. I speak about the alchemy that happens when we allow ourselves to feel fully. Pain does not just pass. It transforms. Shame becomes wisdom. Betrayal becomes clarity. Fear becomes embodied knowing. We are MORE from feeling. I share client stories that illustrate this truth, from individuals learning to come home to their bodies after years of over-intellectualizing, to couples transforming their relationships through radical honesty, presence, and community witnessing. From a young man whose nervous system finally found safety, to couples renewing vows not from obligation but from Soul Truth. Throughout the episode, I return again and again to the heart of my work. Coaching is not about fixing or saving. It is about walking with someone into the places they thought were unfeelable, staying present, and bowing to their courage as they reclaim themselves. It is about integrity, ownership and humility. I cannot ask someone to do what I am unwilling to do myself. This solo is also a meditation on the mystery and the beauty of NOT knowing. I reflect on how the question "What if?" does not have to lead to worse case scenario fear. It can lead to wonder. What if it turns out better than you ever imagined? What if love finds you? What if your presence becomes the answer to someone else's prayer? This episode is an invitation to live with your heart splayed wide open. To welcome your darkness and your light, to be with it all. To remember that intimacy begins within, and that when we come home to ourselves, we discover we were never separate from the Divine at all. Thank you for being here. I love you with all my heart. ➡️ Go check out patreon.com/allanapratt for Exclusive content! This delicious moment of Intimate Conversations is brought to you by RASA.
