Strap in as the enigmatic Doc Roc of The Troumatics and hand surgeon extraordinaire takes you on a tour through the electric avenues of rock melodies and the meticulous lanes of medical practice. From the early days of music where 'Peel and Eat Shrimp' was more than just a dinner option, to the adrenaline-fueled moments in the ER, we cover the spectrum of one man's incredible journey. It's not every day you get to meet someone who knows how to wield a scalpel and a guitar pick with equal finesse, and Doc Roc's story is a testament to following your passion, wherever it may lead you. This episode isn't just about life-saving surgeries and chart-topping tunes; it's also about the quirks that make our lives uniquely ours. Join us as we chat about navigating the tricky landscape of social media for musicians, the poetry of songwriting, and that all-too-relatable urge to disconnect from technology to forge real connections. From Doc Roc's perspective, whether you're strumming a guitar or snapping on surgical gloves, what matters is the magic that happens away from the screens. The Funky Panther plays host to tales you won't hear anywhere else—like the time when big-time celebrities crossed paths with our guest, and the backstage wrestling escapades that rival any rock star anecdote. Plus, we're looking ahead to the summer with music and party plans that promise to be as unforgettable as the stories we share. Doc Roc's dual life of riffs and remedies has us marveling at the rhythms of Fort Worth, Texas, and beyond. So, tune in, rock out, and maybe even learn a thing or two about living a life unplugged.CALL OR TEXT OUR HOTLINE AND LEAVE US A MESSAGE! 817-677-0408Fort Worth MagazineBest of 2022 - Radio Personality/Podcast (Reader's Pick) Show LinksThe Funky PantherMerchYouTube

Welcome back to another episode of the Best Kept Secret podcast show! This is a bittersweet episode. The sweet part is that Boss Hawg returns to bring us a wonderful mix full of all styles of breakbeats. The bitter part is that we lost one of our brothers in breaks way too soon this week. DJ Soulja was a great DJ, a loving husband, a wonderful father, a fabulous family member and a true friend that was full of life. He will be missed and we'd like to dedicate this mix in his honor. If you would like, memorial contributions can be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, S.C. 29303, The Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, 1990 Augusta Road, Greenville, S.C. 29605 or lls.org, or the AER Fund (Army Emergency Fund), 2530 Crystal Drive, Suite 13161, 13th floor, Arlington, Virginia, 22202. On October 21, 2022 the world lost “The Man, The Myth, The Legend” himself, Dr. Ralph “Doc Roc” Anttonen. Doc was a retired faculty member at Millersville University, where he acted as Director of the Exploratory Program, PA Announcer for and supporter of Ville Athletics, and advisor of the college radio station, 91.7 WIXQ. On what would have been Doc's 83rd Birthday, his WIXQ Family has come together to celebrate his life and the impact he had on generations of students. If you knew Doc and would like to be added to this episode, please send a recorded testimonial to collegeradiopod@gmail.com
Dr. James Rodgers and his wife saw a news story about Cain's Ballroom going up for sale, and decided to roll the dice - though they'd never even seen a show there. They bought it, and with their sons, restored it and kept a beloved tradition alive.
Dr. James Rodgers was well known to the medical community, as well as the musical community. The story of how he came to own the historic Cain's Ballroom is fascinating...

Let me know please! media@fortworthroots.com About the show! This Interview style podcast or variety interview podcast originates out of Fort Worth Texas. We've recorded episodes in the Fort Worth Stockyards, many homes and offices, we've traveled all over the DFW area, and now currently we have set up shop in Austin Texas at the foot of the Hill Country. Its always been the purpose of the show to be a true mobile podcast with a mobile podcast studio. While we grow the show and continue to make friends, we are in the process of what one of our guests calls "bridge building". Simply put, bridge building is the process of working on your dreams while maintaining your day job! Andrew Turner, the host of Fort Worth Roots, is no stranger to the perils of being in business for himself. His first business was a landscape design business that landed him a role on HGTV with Andy and Ashley Williams on the show " Flip or Flop Fort Worth. Andrew and his little company appeared on 6 episodes of the show. This was the first time he had been part of a production this size. Eventually the show was finished filming and two years later Andrew left the world of landscape design. With experience in a dozen or more industries Andrew finds it easy to connect with almost all of his guests. The show continues to evolve and change with each episode. Bringing more interesting content to every recording is the goal and maintaining a feel of authenticity is paramount. We hope you enjoy the show and, we would love to hear from you! This Texas Based Podcast grows best when people tell us what the enjoy or what they cannot stand. Let us know. Email us, media@fortworthroots.com .
