Anthony Billet's love for art and architecture led him to start abSketches in 2009. The visual marketing agency began by creating renderings and models of things that don't yet exist to help clients show possibilities to potential investors. Over time, abSketches has evolved its techniques and scope to include a blend of sophisticated visual media by a growing team of expert individuals dedicated to collaboration and excellence. Based in York, PA, abSketches was instrumental in the local renovation of The Yorktowne Hotel, but most of the agency's clients are architects, developers, and engineers in larger U.S. cities and abroad. Visit the firm's website to learn more about some of its featured projects. What You Need to Know (4:03) Mr. Billet graduated with honors from East Stroudsburg University with a BA in Media Communications and Technology as well as a minor in Art. He honed his project management and design skills working at architectural firms prior to starting abSketches. (08:28) Doing a walkthrough of the renovated Yorktowne Hotel was exciting not only because the new construction aligned closely with the agency's designs, but also because the hotel is right down the street from the firm's office. (09:34) abSketches relies mostly on organic referrals and word of mouth. The fact that architects and developers who have worked with abSketches recommend the firm to their competition says a great deal about the agency's business practices and the quality of its work. I had the good fortune of mentoring and teaching Alanna during her days at Hatboro-Horsham High School. She was one of a kind and really left her mark during her years in HS. She managed to find success even during the dreaded Covid years. Alanna, often referred to as Alanna Cena, has been a wrestling fan ever since 6th grade. Under the tutelage and mentorship of wrestling coach, Trent Mongillo, Alanna had success in both middle and high school. This past weekend Alanna competed for the chance to make it to the National College Wrestling Tournament in Iowa. Tune in this week to see how she did and how she has managed to succeed in college while playing a very intense sport!
Audiology Services Summer Internship In January 2020, Audiology Services received an inquiry from Meghan Okken, an undergraduate student from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania studying communication sciences and disorders, most commonly known as speech-language pathology. Meghan was in need of audiology observation hours for her clinical observations course. Observation hours allow students to observe professionals in the communication sciences and disorders field, which assists in their clinical setting decision making process. When Meghan visited our office for the day, we were impressed with her professionalism and how she interacted with our patients. Following Meghan's visit to our office in January, we held a team meeting to discuss offering Meghan a full-time summer internship position. When we held the summer internship interview in early March, Meghan accepted the position with enthusiasm. The Importance of the Summer InternshipA few years ago, I (Blaise) was an undergraduate student studying speech-language pathology at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. It was a requirement to obtain clinical observation hours before graduation. My classmates and I needed 25 speech hours and 5 audiology hours. I was grateful for the supervisors who donated their time and allowed me and my fellow classmates to schedule observation hours in various clinical settings. Encompassing an understanding of the observation process, I personally wanted to open an internship position for an undergraduate student studying communication sciences and disorders. In addition, I've personally had mentors throughout and following my undergraduate and graduate studies. That being said, paying it forward was important to me. The purpose behind the summer internship position was to provide the opportunity for a student to observe first-hand, the processes and procedures in the private practice setting. These processes and procedures include but are not limited to: •Scheduling patients •Rescheduling patients •Greeting patients •Otoscopy •Tympanometry •Comprehensive audiological evaluations •Hearing aid clean and checks •Real ear measurement •Scheduling/hosting effective team meetings Connect with the Hearing Matters Podcast TeamEmail: hearingmatterspodcast@gmail.com Instagram: @hearing_matters_podcast Twitter: @hearing_mattasFacebook: Hearing Matters Podcast

My new segment "The Crime Talk" is where i will be discussing crime documentaries that are on different platforms. On the first episode we'll be discussing 'Killer Sally" According to Wikipedia: "Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Sally had what she describes as a tough upbringing, experiencing violence so frequently that she had thought it to be commonplace in every home. Sally's father, Richard Dale Dempsey, was a raging alcoholic who was frequently abusive to her mother.[1] Sally became an athlete in high school. She swam, dove, and ran. She enrolled at East Stroudsburg State College (now East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania) with a dream of becoming a gym teacher. Three and a half years in, with three semesters due to lack of credits, she ran out of money to fund her education and dropped out. Sally was married to her first husband, Anthony Lowden, for four years and they had two children together, Shantina and John, before separating"

In this episode of the podcast, we have the chance to speak with Lender Vega, who works full-time at BTS Philly as the Wrestling Coordinator. Lender has a rich history with the Beat the Streets program. While we often talk about the intersection of academics and athletics, Lender's story has an unusual twist. During a freshman year seminar, his teacher offered the students five extra points if they participated in a sport. Lender jumped at the opportunity and joined the wrestling team. Despite a rocky start, Lender fell in love with the sport and continued improving.Lender's life journey has been defined by his resilience. He moved to the US from the Dominican Republic when he was just 11 years old, and at the time he didn't know English. But Lender committed himself to school and began to excel in the classroom. “My dad from day one said: don't get in trouble and keep your grades up.”As Lender advanced on the wrestling mat, he began thinking about wrestling in college. Unlike today, Beat the Streets didn't have a formalized mentoring program at the time. So former Executive Director Chris Hanlon walked him through the college admission process and took him on school visits. In the podcast, Executive Director James Mangan points out, “In a lot of ways, this was a pilot phase of the mentoring program. Beat the Streets was well-equipped to address the needs from a wrestling perspective, but it was always in the plan to figure out how to also serve academically. And you were early in that phase of discovery.”Lender finally settled on a Junior College in New Jersey, but his challenges didn't stop there. Lender found that his public school education didn't prepare him for the rigors of college, and despite his best effort, he failed out of school. It was at this tough time that Chris Hanlon reached out. “Hanlon just said, ‘Hey, stick around us and we'll see where you're where you'll land.'” He brought Lender on as a coach for Beat the Street youth. But Lender's story doesn't stop there. After a year of coaching, he decided to go back to school. Lender eventually graduated from East Stroudsburg University, becoming the first college graduate in his family. And now as the Wrestling Coordinator at Beat the Streets he is doing amazing work and serving the community that he comes from. We are grateful to have Lender in the Beat the Streets family!

Welcome to the athlete blueprint podcast for today's episode I'm join by JD Howell!JD is in his 10th year as a Strength Coach with the Oakland A's of the MLB . He's currently the minor-league Sport Performance coordinator or prior to that was the Latin American strength and conditioning coordinator and affiliate Strength Coach.A native of Pennsylvania, JD was a student and football player at East Stroudsburg University…. He was a strength and conditioning intern at East Stroudsburg as well as Stanford, Albright college, and his first season with the A's. JD Now currently lives in Phx w/ his wife Emily and son ronin.JD also has a bunch of certifications and alphabet soup letters behind his name but we don't need to get into that on the shell. What I want to talk about though is JD's experience as the Latin American strength and conditioning coordinator w/ the A's. That position required JD to spend quite a bit of time over at the A's facilities in Arizona in the Dominican republic. One of the things that fascinates me about coaching and human interaction in general is social cultural constraints and how it impacts our coaching and communication. And as someone who had to coach and work w/ athletes of different backgrounds and languages, JD had to adapt his both his coaching style and communication. We get into all that and more in this conversation….before I let you get to the episode, if you're enjoying the show, don't forget to leave us a review on the platform of your choice….now onto my conversation w/JD!If you like today's episode, leave a review here....If you want to reach me directly, contact me on social media or shoot me @javier@igniteperformance.netEpisode Resources:JD's Instagram JD's Twitter
