A month of reliably superb films by Studio Ghibli. Much needed after the Dumpuary beating we took. We are officially announcing Studio Ghibli month. One month of the year we will hit the streams and pan out 3 Ghibli films that we have not yet seen until we have completed the catalog. This year we have three from the three different decades. All full of magic. All full of story. Pixar may be for the heart but Studio Ghibli is for the soul. I know at times we may be obnoxious, and loud, and crude. But when it comes to film we watch with our hearts and our souls. And anyways, its better to be a pig, than a fascist.#wgs

January has historically been the month that studios release the movies that...didnt test so well. This month we have got two shining examples of that. Yes! Only two, you may have noticed. Unfortunately, the comedic gem that is "Codename: The Cleaner" was dumped from streaming before we could hate watch it. Good news is theres plenty of bad with the other picks. IG

This week on End Credits, we're on the road again. The last few weeks of winter hardly seems like a good time for a road trip, but maybe that's the point. It's time to get in the car and drive with the Drive-Away Dolls and our old friend Ethan Coen, but before that we will talk about all the movies they aren't entirely sure they want you to see as we reach the end of "Dumpuary." This Wednesday, February 28, at 3 pm, Adam A. Donaldson and Peter Salmon will discuss: Dumpuary Jones. We've reached the end of February (though technically nearly the end because it's a leap year), which also means it's the end of "Dumpuary". It's the time of year where Hollywood studios dump the movies that they think can make some money but are too embarrassed to release in the harsh light of summer or Christmas. So for the first part of the show this week, we will hail some Dumpuary classics both past and present! Drive-Away Dolls (2024). As you may recall, the famous filmmaking fraternity the Coen Brothers are taking a break from each other. A couple of years ago, Joel made The Tragedy of MacBeth, and Ethan made this, a 1999-set road trip comedy about a pair of young women finding themselves on the road to Tallahassee and finding something mysterious and tantalizing in the trunk of their borrowed car. If you like Classic Coens like Raising Arizona or Burn After Reading, you will probably see a lot to recommend in Drive-Away Dolls, but is one Coen Coen enough? End Credits is on CFRU 93.3 fm and cfru.ca Wednesday at 3 pm.

Dumpuary is a term coined by the now defunct pop-culture website Grantland. This movie season runs through January and February, basically post-holiday, pre-Oscar time. It's during this time that studios dump the movies they wonder why they made, their least promising works. It's a strange mix of smaller, cheaper movies that might just make some money during a dry moviegoing season, and larger movies that should've been a big deal but turned out poorly, and the studio has to release them anyway. Hence Dumpuary. It is just an awful time to go to the movies. In case you were wondering if we are currently in Dumpuary, the movies that are being released in theaters this week look like this: The Devil Conspiracy, in which a biotech company made up of secret satanists uses the Shroud of Turin to try to clone Jesus and offer him up to the Devil. No, I am not kidding. Also opening is a reboot of the 90's hip-hop comedy House Party, and an action movie about a plane called, well, "Plane." This, my friends is Dumpuary. But I'm a priest, not a movie critic, so we should talk about Jesus - and not the cloned one from that Devil Conspiracy movie.
