Greg Low is the VDC Subject Matter Expert at Autodeck, a design and construction company. Having gotten his Bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University, it is only fitting that he currently teaches in the Construction Management program there as an adjunct professor. Greg was born and raised in Riverton, UT. With dedicated parents, Greg and the late Jan Low, they made sure his needs were well met, which included a tiny red bicycle made available for him and his 3 other siblings. He first sat on that tiny red bicycle at age 3, and hasn't stopped peddling since! Unlike so many kids then and now, Greg never made time to watch tv after school; he was too busy zooming around the neighborhood either by himself or with friends. Recreational biking led into the discovery of mountain biking then to the swift smooth world of road biking. He accomplished his first major bike ride, the MS 100, in Logan, UT on a rental bike. That experience guaranteed he would never do that again! He purchased his first bike soon after. With his own set of wheels, he's ridden most, if not all of the local bike races. Some of which include: The Ultimate Challenge, Iron Lung, Salt to Saint, Rockwell Relay, and Tour de St. George. Over the span of eighteen years, he's completed eleven full Lotoja races; taking second once, and first place three times. Greg spends some of his free time helping coach the local youth mountain bike team, which he loves, especially since two of his kids ride. When he's not at home in the hustle and bustle of managing various schedules and activities for five amazing kids, you can also find him either watching Survivor with his fabulous wife or taking his two doodle dogs to the park. You'll know he had a good ride when he says, “it was magical!”

(Adam@TheWorldview.com) Christian family in India beaten over refusal to deny Christ A Christian couple in central India haven't seen their two young children for more than a month after an attack by followers of a traditional tribal religion drove them from their village for refusing to recant their faith, reports The Christian Post. Aayatu Podiyami, 35, was assaulted twice in Sukma District for refusing to deny Christ. The animist village head asked, “What have you decided? Will you renounce your Christian faith or leave the village?” Podiyami replied, “Where will I go? This is my home. I have been believing in Jesus for four years, and I want to continue believing in Him.” He managed to escape into the jungle on both occasions, but his father, Mangu Podiyami, “is not young and swift” and was unable to outrun the second assault. He explained, “The mob stopped beating him after he passed out, and his assailants thought he was dead.” He and his wife and father have not returned home since taking refuge at a secure place on February 12. The couple has two daughters, ages 7 and 4. He said, “I cannot go back home to see my children. Our assailants are on the watch, eyeing our house, waiting for me to return. God is our only hope. Christian teacher fired for refusing to affirm 8-year-old's “gender transition” A teacher in the United Kingdom who was fired for not affirming the gender transition of an 8-year-old is fighting back in court, reports Christian Headlines. The controversy began in 2021 when Hannah, an elementary school teacher, was told that an 8-year-old was joining her class and that the child must be addressed by a new name and pronouns and be allowed to use restrooms and changing rooms of the opposite biological sex. Hannah told administrators she would not affirm the child's new identity because doing so would harm not only the child but the other children in the class. She noted that many trans-identifying children later de-transition. In addition, affirming the child's transgender identity would violate her conscience and her Christian faith. Loneliness in seniors: Worse than alcoholism, obesity, and smoking Loneliness may be the worst thing for the health of older adults, reports StudyFinds.org. Researchers from the Regenstrief Institute and the Indiana University School of Medicine found that loneliness, which has emerged as a major biopsychosocial stressor, is worse for older people than alcoholism, obesity, and smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day. This study, published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, suggests that primary care clinicians could be at the forefront of addressing this silent epidemic. Apparently, 53% of older adults visiting primary care facilities report feeling lonely. These feelings significantly impact their physical and mental health, reducing their overall quality of life. In Psalm 25:15-18, David writes, “My eyes are ever toward the LORD, for he will pluck my feet out of the net. Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. The troubles of my heart are enlarged; bring me out of my distresses. Consider my affliction and my trouble, and forgive all my sin.” The remarkable man in the iron lung And finally, a man who set the Guinness World Record for living the longest time in an iron lung spoke about the love of God his family showed him, reports The Christian Post. For more than 70 years, Paul Alexander, who died on March 11th at the age of 78, had been confined to a large cylindrical mechanical ventilator that used air pressure to help him breathe since polio paralyzed his chest muscles in 1952 at age 6, three years before the rollout of the polio vaccine. He learned how to write and paint with his mouth using a long plastic stick and spent years learning how to spend limited time outside the iron lung through a special technique of gulping down air, notes The Guardian. When he was 8, his therapist promised him a puppy if he could learn how to use the technique to remain outside the iron lung for three minutes, which influenced the title of his 2020 self-published autobiography, entitled Three Minutes for a Dog: My Life in an Iron Lung. The book took him eight years to type out or dictate. He eventually was able to spend portions of the day outside the iron lung with the help of a modified wheelchair that kept his body upright. With the aid of a tutor, Alexander graduated second in his class at Samuell Alexander High School in 1967 at the age of 21. After two years of fighting assertions from admissions officials that he was too crippled to attend, he also went to college, first at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and then at the University of Texas at Austin, where he received his bachelor's degree in 1978 and a law degree in 1984. After passing the bar exam in 1986, he specialized in family law and bankruptcy as an attorney in Dallas and Fort Worth. During a remarkable videotaped interview with his friend Christopher Ulster in 2022, Alexander detailed the horrific experience of becoming paralyzed at such a young age, but noted how deeply his parents loved him amid his suffering, which he said reminded him of God's love. As he laid in the iron lung, he could look to his right and admired his late parents, whose portraits he kept next to him. He said, "I had a whole life lived with them, and it was amazing.” Alexander also explained the importance of finding purpose regardless of one's limitations. Paul Alexander, one of two people in the U.S. still relying on an iron lung to survive, died on March 11, 2024 at the age of 78. Paul contracted polio in 1952 at six years old, and has had to rely on an iron lung — a big metal ventilator that encases the body from the neck to toes — since then. We spoke to Paul a few years ago about his life and the lessons he's learned from living under uncommon circumstances. Polio was one of the scourges of the 20th century. And it mainly struck children. All of a sudden a person contracted polio and suffered terribly for several days; sometimes they recovered, sometimes they died, and sometimes they were left permanently disabled. The most famous polio victim of all time, Franklin Roosevelt, hid his disability from the public. But this story has a true hero: Jonas Salk, who developed a vaccine which led to the almost complete eradication of this dreaded disease. And Dr. Salk never patented the vaccine or earned any money from his discovery.

Last month Eenzy caught up with Atlanta-based chaotic hardcore luminaries Apostle for a heartfelt hobnob after a show. The band gets into how they adapted to losing a member and becoming a trio, how they support each other creatively and emotionally in the band, and they land some solid burns at the expense of jazz and black metal (genres famous for their sense of humor). [Fan crashes interview to tell the band how great the show was] Eenz: Hey guys, Eenzy here outside 529 once again, this time with Apostle. You guys wanna introduce yourselves? Michael: Hello my name is Michael and I play bass in the band. Murice: I'm Murice I do guitar and vocals. Evan: I'm Evan - I play drums. Eenz: I just sat through a pretty bitchin' show with you guys, Malevich which is another local blackened grind band, Hexis - a great band from Denmark, and.. I forget the last band actually. But I have questions about your band so it doesn't matter. My first question is about the name: where did the name Apostle come from? Is there a story behind it? Did you just pick a word out of the dictionary like Health? What's up? Evan: It was kinda something I was sitting on in my early 20's, I was going through my kind of angsty, atheist-phase. To be totally honest I was like 'Yeah, it'd be cool to have a band in a chaotic and abrasive style kind of tongue-in-cheek named Apostle'. Honestly, I just thought it sounded kinda cool at the time, and it stuck. When we started playing with Cam when the band actually formed, I had that name in my back pocket from over the years and was like 'what if we just named it Apostle?' and it just kinda stuck. Eenz: Cool, I like it - the bible's pretty metal in certain parts. Other parts are pretty fucked up, but whatever [editorial note: dude, the metal parts are super fucked up too] Second question: You guys blend a lot of different metal genres. I hear like grindcore, maybe some crust, definitely blackgaze, maybe some mathy parts. How would you describe your style of music and the bands you're influenced by in this project? Murice: I always just like put us in the category of like chaotic hardcore, just cause it's an easy catch-all term. I'm sure all of our influences vary, but mine are stuff like Yaujta, Sumac, Infernal Coil, Iron Lung, Coke Bust, The Chariot. Just names like that - listening to them really pushed me to like try to do something more with the music I'm making. Michael: One of the cool things about this band is that we all have different influences and we listen to a lot of stuff. For me, especially when I started playing bass instead of guitar, a lot of like Glassjaw - the Material Control record especially, and things like Botch and Russian Circles - just Brian Cook's bass tone and how he uses a lot of chords, even like Jawbreaker, how their bass player would use a lot of chords to get a thicker sound. When we went down to a three-piece I just wanted to fill as much sound as possible, so for me it was more of a tonal thing, like this band with just a guitar and bass player were able to bring a thick sound I want to try to bring to this band. Evan: Not to sound cliché, but it really is just like expression. I myself am a huge jazz nerd to a certain extent, I mean Tony Williams is my favorite drummer and probably my biggest source of inspiration. But like Murice was saying, the more extreme forms of punk - grindcore and powerviolence-type bands. You mentioned blackgaze, like yeah the atmosphere is indicative of a little black metal in there, but I'm really just trying to push myself as a drummer and get faster at playing blast beats cleanly just hoping to support the songs and further create an atmosphere for the melting pot of shit we have, the stew we have going.
