Welcome to the highly anticipated Episode 184 of Jay of the Dead's New Horror Movies, in which everyone's "favorite Horror Avenger" (and perhaps the most controversial one), Ron Martin — The Cassandra of Horror Podcasting — continues his milestone movie challenge worthy of his formidable Horror reputation. In celebration of turning 50 back on February 26, 2026, Ron has undertaken an ambitious cinematic mission: to watch 50 Horror movies he has never seen before during his 50th year! Rest assured, this is not merely a collection of familiar favorites, nostalgic rewatches, or comfortable genre standbys… Every selection must be a Horror film that Ron has never previously seen. No repeats. No fallback choices. Instead, Ron is tackling his own personal list of long-overdue "Must-See Horror Movies," neglected essentials, celebrated classics, and a handful of surprising blind spots that even he admits are slightly embarrassing. And in addition, he is randomly selecting films that he's just in the mood to watch at that time. But again, always and above all … films he has not yet seen! Ron Martin's 50 for 50 Horror Special spans five total episodes, with 10 mini reviews featured in each volume. Throughout the series, Ron offers concise, insightful, and frequently fiery reactions to each movie, complete with ratings and recommendations, as he attempts to "fill in the holes" of his extensive Horror-viewing résumé. The films may come from physical media, streaming services, or theatrical releases. The only firm requirement is that Ron must be experiencing each title for the very first time! For a lifelong Horror authority, it is a daring, revealing, and endlessly intriguing undertaking. So, join us for Volume 2 of 5 as Ron continues his 50 for 50 Horror journey — facing down supposed classics, testing long-held expectations, addressing glaring omissions, and carrying on his relentless pursuit of Horror truth versus Horror myth! **Be sure to listen to Ron Martin's previous Horror solocast series here: The Great Halloween Experiment – Parts 1 – 4 And check out Ron's other podcast: Retro Sleepover Be sure to subscribe to Jay of the Dead's new Horror movie podcast on: Apple PodcastsSpotifyDeezer   You are welcome to email our show at HauntingYourHeadphones@gmail.com. Jay of the Dead's New Horror Movies presents the 62nd edition of Dead Man Still Walking, the Zombie Movie Podcast hosted by Dr. Walking Dead himself, Dr. Kyle Bishop! This episode offers a cinematic zombie twofer, beginning with Christopher Landon's irreverent teen comedy, "Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse" (2015), followed by the main event: Destry Allyn Spielberg's dystopian Gothic thriller, "Please Don't Feed the Children" (2025). First, Dr. Bishop briefly ventures into the realm of gross-out humor, zombie strippers and scouting skills put to apocalyptic use. Although the film offers a surprisingly earnest message about friendship, loyalty, and resisting peer pressure, Kyle finds its juvenile sex jokes, scatological comedy and deliberately ridiculous zombies considerably less rewarding. There is, however, some praise for David Koechner's performance. Then, Dr. Walking Dead turns his attention to "Please Don't Feed the Children," a slow-burning post-apocalyptic thriller in which young people are immune to a mysterious viral outbreak but are persecuted as suspected carriers. A group of fugitive teenagers takes refuge in an isolated farmhouse owned by the seemingly compassionate Clara, played by Michelle Dockery. Naturally, the safety of the house proves deceptive, and the movie's cleverly misleading title takes on a much darker meaning. Dr. Kyle Bishop examines the film as a COVID-inspired narrative about disease, social paranoia, generational conflict and the dangerous rumors that accompany public-health crises. He also considers its Gothic atmosphere, solitary zombie, exploration of motherhood and obsessive love, as well as its depiction of the "monstrous mother." And what exactly is "Biddy Horror"—and how does it differ from Hagsploitation? Join the good doctor for a smart, spoiler-filled discussion of zombies, secrets, family, life, death and the unfortunate consequences of keeping an infected loved one locked in the basement. Note: This episode contains major plot spoilers for both films, particularly "Please Don't Feed the Children." The sixth film in the notoriously dark and gory franchise is the most intense, grisly and gory one yet. We weren’t sure the movie could live up to all the hype, but it certainly did, and even surpassed our expectations. However, speaking of expectations, the film has not lived up to what producers were hoping, falling far short in its opening weekend. Perhaps, it’s just too scary, too violent and too much for most movie-goers… don’t judge us for highly recommending this flick to people with iron stomachs. It's time for your favorite Zombie Movie Podcast brought to you by Jay of the Dead's New Horror Movies, which is here to present another fascinating edition of Dead Man Still Walking with Dr. Walking Dead Kyle Bishop! This time, Dr. Bishop journeys back to 1974 for a double-feature exploration of two very different zombie films: Dead of Night (also known as "Deathdream") and Sugar Hill. One is a somber, politically charged meditation on the lingering trauma of the Vietnam War, while the other is a colorful blend of Blaxploitation cinema, voodoo lore, revenge storytelling, and classic raised-dead zombies. In this episode, Kyle examines how Dead of Night uses zombiism as a powerful metaphor for veterans struggling to return home after war, creating one of the most emotionally devastating zombie narratives of the 1970s. He also discusses Sugar Hill as a noteworthy revival of the voodoo zombie tradition, connecting it to earlier zombie cinema while highlighting its campy entertainment value, memorable Baron Samedi character, and undead revenge squad. Along the way, Dr. Walking Dead reflects on the evolution of zombie films during the years between Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead, offering historical context for this episode's two overlooked entries in zombie movie history. Note: This episode contains spoilers for both Dead of Night (1974) and Sugar Hill (1974). Also, to view ALL of Dr. Bishop's Dead Man Still Walking solocast episodes can USE THIS LINK. It's alive! Your favorite Zombie Movie Podcast shambles back into your ears once again — Dead Man Still Walking, starring the ever-insightful (and occasionally curmudgeonly) Dr. Walking Dead himself, Kyle William Bishop! In this episode, the good doctor is joined by none other than special guest Jay of the Dead for a thoughtful — and at times boisterous — discussion of "Weapons" (2025). In this edition, Dr. Bishop digs into a provocative question: Is Weapons actually more of a "true" zombie film than even the works of George A. Romero? It's a bold claim, and one that sparks plenty of analysis about what really defines a zombie narrative, beyond just shambling corpses and apocalyptic backdrops. That said, it's not all praise. Dr. Bishop shares some pointed gripes, chief among them his distaste for the film's title, "Weapons," which he argues undersells the thematic depth and complexity of the story. But where the film truly wins him over is in its non-linear narrative structure, a storytelling approach he absolutely loves and champions throughout the episode. Meanwhile, Jay of the Dead brings his own observations to the table, noting how the characters in Weapons are united by a pervasive and unsettling theme: powerlessness. Whether facing societal collapse, personal limitations, or existential dread, the film's characters struggle against forces far beyond their control — a hallmark, perhaps, of the most effective zombie storytelling. Join Dr. Bishop and Jay of the Dead for another unforgettable trek into the undead. Notes: This episode contains major plot spoilers for Weapons, so proceed with caution if you haven't seen it yet! Happy Easter! He lives! The Tomb Is Empty! It's finally time for Episode 178 of Jay of the Dead's New Horror Movies, an atypical show with some live, "in-the-field" recordings. The show begins with an on-location excursion to "Burgertory," a Horror-themed restaurant in Salt Lake City, where a few of the Horror Avengers and Grisly Gus sample some macabre burgers! While they're out on the town, they review the zombie flick, "We Bury the Dead" (2026), which Dr. Walking Dead describes as a "post-zombie film" that reconsiders the undead as something more than monsters. Jay refers to it as a "Zzz Zzz Zombie" movie. These live segments also include an excerpt of a live jam session where the boys cover, "Careless Whisper," featuring Dr. Bishop on saxophone and lead vocals! The second half of the episode transitions into spoiler territory with the Main Event: a full review of "It: Welcome to Derry Season 1" by Ron Martin and Dr. Walking Dead. And finally, the episode closes in a unique and heartfelt fashion, with Jay of the Dead's Tribute to Joe Bob Briggs following the cancellation of "The Last Drive-In" after seven seasons on Shudder. When it's all said and done, Episode 178 stands as a memorable and unconventional installment that blends Horror discussion, live music, theatrical outings, and tribute into one distinctive experience. We hope you enjoy it. Join us!

In Episode 177 of Jay of the Dead's New Horror Movies, everyone's "favorite Horror Avenger," Ron Martin — The Cassandra of Horror Podcasting — embarks on a milestone celebration unlike any other. As Ron celebrates his 50th birthday today, February 26, 2026, he has committed to a bold and personal cinematic quest: watching 50 Horror movies that he has never seen before during his 50th year! But this isn't just a random assortment of rewatches or comfort-viewing classics. No — this is Ron Martin we're talking about. The mission is simple, yet daunting: As noted above, every film must be a Horror movie that Ron has never seen before. That's right. No repeats. No safety nets. Just long-overdue "Must-See Horror Movies," overlooked essentials, and a few glaring blind spots that Ron himself admits he's slightly embarrassed to have missed. Ron Martin's 50 for 50 Horror Special is a series that will unfold across five total episodes, with 10 mini reviews per show. In each installment, Ron delivers concise, thoughtful, and often fiery reactions — complete with ratings and recommendations — as he works to "fill in the holes" of his Horror-watching résumé. Selections may come from anywhere: physical media, streaming platforms, theatrical releases — the only restriction, again, is that Ron hasn't seen them before. It's a courageous and fascinating undertaking for a lifelong Horror authority. So, join us for Volume 1 of 5 as Ron begins his 50 for 50 Horror journey — confronting some "classics," challenging expectations, and continuing his relentless pursuit of Horror truth versus Horror myth! It's time for your favorite Zombie Movie Podcast, better known as Dead Man Still Walking — typically a solocast starring the inimitable Dr. Walking Dead Kyle Bishop! During this 59th edition of DMSW, Dr. Bishop is recording from inside a tent (in the late summer of 2025), participating in Girls' Camp! Hey, even if he's not the fastest or cleverest girl at Girls' Camp, he's always the prettiest! Nah, our dear professor is just a great dad and a salt-of-the-Earth individual who selflessly volunteers to chaperone and volunteer as "Bear Bait," in case the young teens are attacked in the wilderness of Utah. Kyle is so cool, he essentially recreates a "Dead Serious Horror Challenge" from the old HMP days and watches scary movies at night in his tent, movies that also occur out in the wilderness. Anywho, here in Dead Man Still Walking, Dr. Kyle William Bishop reviews a Netflix Original, Action Martial Arts / Science Fiction / Zombie flick from Thailand called Ziam (2025) — as in "Zombie Siam" or "Ziam." But using his technical definition, Dr. Bishop would not call "Ziam" much of a Horror movie, despite its zombie monsters because it has hardly any suspense or tension. It is mostly Action (with an empowered protagonist), which is not conducive to promoting fear within viewers. Even so, it's fun to hear Dr. Bishop talk about watching this film during his camping adventures. Listen! Note: This episode was recorded in August 2025. Merry Frankensteinian Christmas from Jay of the Dead's New Horror Movies, The Christmas Morning of Horror Movie Podcasts! Releasing on December 25, 2025, the festive Horror Avengers bring you a magnificent monster mash stitched together from October and November recordings and joyfully re-gifted as a full-blown holiday special. This memorable episode earns its place in show history by featuring one Horror Avenger's Specialty Segment twice(!) in the same episode! While holiday lights glow and carols echo, your favorite hosts chime in interstitially with seasons greetings. Nearly everyone shows up to celebrate (with a couple of absences blamed on a suspicious trip to the dog track). The entire affair is capped by Jay's own original dark Christmas carol, "The Tiny King," a grim yet hopeful closer that might be the closest thing to a Horror Christmas carol. The episode itself is packed tighter than Santa's sack, har har, with new Horror movie reviews recorded "in the field," classic black-and-white chills, and a centerpiece deep dive into Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein — complete with a clear spoiler warning for listeners. Jay of the Dead, Dr. Walking Dead, Dr. Shock, Gillman Joel, and Mackula gather around the slab to debate monsters, their meaning, and modern myth-making, while Mackula's enthusiasm climbs sky-high in true festive fashion across the episode's classic and contemporary picks. From an in-person recording of Jay and Dr. Bishop as they review "Shelby Oaks" and "Dream Eater" inside Jay's car together — to vintage chills and a surprisingly merry detour into "Predator: Badlands" — Episode 174 feels like a snowy marathon of bolts, bells, snowballs, and body parts — equal parts reverent, ridiculous, and heartfelt. By the time the bubble lights stop bubbling and the final notes of "The Tiny King" fade out, listeners are left with a warm glow, a few scorch marks, and the firm belief that this really is The Gold Standard of Holiday Horror Movie Podcasts. Happy Thanksgiving! It's Turkey Day, dammit, and you're listening to Jay of the Dead's New Horror Movies, The Wild Turkey of Horror Movie Podcasts! Here in Episode 172, your hosts Jay of the Dead and Mister Watson endeavor to elicit an environment of the last Thursday in November in America! That's right! Upon listening to this decadent yet delectable detritus, drizzled with down-home, delightful domestication, you will be whisked away (not folded nor mixed), but whisked away into an audio podcast that blends 2025 New Horror Movie reviews, some faint comedy, and a dinner party vibe with A New Horror Movies Thanksgiving — With Jay of the Dead and Mister Watson. Now then, if you choose to join us for this audiophile's feast, then you will hear reviews of the following, 2025 New Horror Movies. And please note: We are most careful NOT to reveal any spoilers; so even if you have not seen these films yet, you are in good, safe hands with Mister Watson and Jay of the Dead! The films we review during this episode are A Desert (2025), HIM (2025), Marshmallow (2025), The Strangers: Chapter 2 (2025), Vicious (2025), Bone Lake (2025), MONSTER ISLAND (2025), Good Boy (2025), The Ugly Stepsister (2025), The Long Walk (2025), and for The Final Cut segment, we bring you a must-see Horror flick from last year, Pater Noster and the Mission of Light (2024). And in addition to these reviews, you will hear Jay of the Dead explain exactly what he means when referring to a film as a "cinematic oddity," making a distinction between intentionally bizarre films versus movies that just wind up being bonkers and "out there." Mister Watson and Jay have an in-depth discussion about the appropriate approach for dealing with others who break social norms. And over dinner, Watson regales us with a tale from 2015 when Jay of the Dead used his podcaster's siren song to lead Dustin astray with a mermaid on date night! Also, Jay tries to persuade Watson to stop feeding his "good, little, chonky boys" (raccoons) before one of them eats his face off. And in a rare and special treat, Mister Watson tells us the remarkable true story of Hachiko the dog. Plus, we have some very special segments pertaining to Thanksgiving-related trivia, Thanksgiving Cooking With Cousin Kellie and Jay's Necro-MOM-icon in West Virginia, and the next chapters in the Dave Becker baler saga! Come get a taste! We think you'll like it! And if you like hearing Jay and Watson mix it up together, be sure you check out our sister Horror show — Another Badass Horror Podcast — titled, Horror Movie Weekly. Note: This episode was recorded on Friday, November 21, 2025, and was produced by Jason Pyles (aka "Jay of the Dead").
