Hug your faces— I mean, hug your children. Some freaky fast and wacky weird xenomorphs are loose on the ship of Jay of the Dead's New Horror Movies! Here we are with our second installment (covering the third episode) of ALIEN: EARTH (2025). During this episode, four of the Horror Avengers return to dissect and debate Episode 003: Metamorphosis of the Alien: Earth series, and it's a wild ride full of major plot spoilers, so listener beware! Jay of the Dead is joined by Dr. Walking Dead, GregaMortis, and Mackula for an in-depth review of this pivotal installment. The crew dives headfirst into the latest developments, speculating whether the children's consciousness has truly been transferred into the synth bodies or if it's merely a downloaded replica. Tensions spark as Dr. Bishop confesses to growing a bit bored with the franchise's signature xenomorphs and their familiar egg tropes, while Mackula voices his frustration over this episode feeling more like a narrative “bridge” than a satisfying chapter. Jay of the Dead takes some heat for mixing up basic human anatomy, confusing lungs with livers and blurring the line between alien zygotes and fetuses, prompting a few laughs and a much-needed biology lesson. Meanwhile, GregaMortis remains fully invested and enthusiastic about the series' direction. And of course, Jay can't help but continue his disdain for the design of the alien octopus-eyeball monster, comparing it (not favorably) to something ripped straight from “Rick and Morty.” (You know it's true.) Also, out of nowhere, Dr. Bishop admits to “rewinding” streaming content… So, if you're keeping up with Alien: Earth, this episode delivers fiery opinions, sharp analysis, and plenty of horror geekery to chew on. Watch along with us and listen to our analysis or else Mackula will hug your faces! Note: This episode was recorded on Friday night, August 22, 2025. All right! Get ready to maintain Social Distancing for this week's special, double-feature episode — the 54th Edition — of DEAD MAN STILL WALKING, with your courageous professor, Dr. Walking Dead Kyle Bishop! For this double-header, Dr. Bishop is discussing two, COVID-inspired zombie films: Corona Zombies (2020) and Zombie Reddy (2021)! Welcome to your favorite Zombie Movie Podcast — Dead Man Still Walking. In this 53rd edition of DMSW, host Dr. Walking Dead (Kyle William Bishop) welcomes special guest Jay of the Dead for a Take 2, spoiler-filled conversation about Danny Boyle's 28 Years Later (2025), the long-awaited third installment in the iconic, infected zombie film franchise. Both Kyle and Jay express their love for 28 Days Later (2002) and 28 Weeks Later, setting the stage for a comparison and assessment of this latest entry. Dr. Bishop offers analytical insights while fielding Jay's many questions about the new film. In fact, Kyle addresses the oft-asked question of why there was never a “28 Months Later,” providing context and spawning speculation about sequels and even unlikely prequel concepts. As with most zombie-related conversations, this discussion includes the legacy of George A. Romero, whom Kyle credits as the grandfather of both the re-animated dead and the infected zombie sub-genres. Together, Kyle and Jay explore the mysteries of zombie evolution over nearly three decades, while including — of course — a chat about the anatomical and gestational nuances of these infected beings. This show proudly constitutes Episode 153 of Jay of the Dead'sNew Horror Movies, and is an essential listen for fans of zombie cinema, combining scholarly insight with genuine fandom, as well as a loving critique of Boyle and Garland's infected hellscape as we return to it 23 years later. Hold on to your ba-ZOOM-bas, ladies and gentlemen, it's time for Part 5 of The Collectors, a limited series in which The Horror Avengers reveal their deepest, darkest secret love affairs with their various collections — especially their personal movie collections! In this fifth installment, Count Mackula interviews The Southern Gentleman, GregaMortis — the Head “Creepture” of Land of the Creeps. In an intimate and wide-ranging interview, Mackula chats with GregaMortis to journey through the decades of his collecting passion, starting with his childhood days of toyline preferences and fondly remembered visits to the legendary Kmart in Elkins, West Virginia. Greg shares stories of his earliest collecting obsessions, providing a glimpse into the roots of a lifelong pursuit that would be both challenged and reborn. Listeners will hear the dramatic and heartfelt account of Greg's personal “Burning” — a pivotal event in the mid-1990s when, under pressure from his former religious community, he was compelled to destroy much of his cherished media collection. But like any great collector with a resilient spirit, GregaMortis rose from those ashes, beginning around 2001, to rebuild a vault of cinema and memorabilia that now spans VHS tapes, laser discs, DVDs, Blu-rays, and modern 4Ks! Victory! GregaMortis has been keeping Horror alive ever since! You also get to hear about Greg's enthusiasm for collecting vintage TV Guides from the 1970s and '80s. He explains his philosophy on upgrading films across evolving formats — and what he gains (or loses) in the process. And of course, no collection is without its tragedies. Greg recounts “The Great Fall” — the unfortunate toppling of his homemade movie shelves. Episode 151 offers more than just a peek into a movie-lover's media treasures; it's a tribute to the emotional ties we form with the things we love, the resilience it takes to reclaim joy, and the communal bond that collectors like Greg and Mack share across generations with listeners like you! Don't miss this badass edition of “The Collectors Series” with the unforgettable GregaMortis! Listen, you'll love it! Also, in case you missed them, here are the first three installments of this series: Ep. 088: The Collectors – Part 1 and Ep. 094: The Collectors – Part 2 and Ep. 098: The Collectors – Part 3 and Ep. 102: The Collectors – Part 4. “Well, and I'm not gonna get into the physics of something that is not real.” – Dr. Walking Dead Welcome to the 50th Edition of DEAD MAN STILL WALKING, the ultimate zombie cinema podcast hosted by your fearless professor of the undead, Dr. Walking Dead Kyle Bishop! To celebrate this milestone, Dr. Bishop is joined by a special guest — Jay of the Dead — for a spirited countdown of their Top 10 Zombie Movies of All Time! But here's the twist: Kyle and Jay only share five films in common! That means you're getting 15 killer recommendations that span the globe and the entire spectrum of zombie storytelling. During this episode, we'll find out: Does Jay really love zombies — but hate zombie movies? Dr. Bishop's list features only two American films — the rest are international zombie gems! Intrigued? And Jay of the Dead drops a bold claim by revealing what he calls “The Citizen Kane of Zombie Movies.” What zombie film could deserve that title? It's a jam-packed, brain-munching celebration of undead cinema. Tune in for the laughs, the debates, and a love letter to zombie films! Join us!
Let's talk about this insane new trend, the new 'Scream Boat' horror movie, my awesome business idea, & much more
OK, “Gentle Listeners,” Dr. Walking Dead has shown up for work for us with this week's special double-feature show. In this 49th Edition of DEAD MAN STILL WALKING, your intrepid professor, Dr. Walking Dead Kyle Bishop, graciously took at least one cinematic bullet for the listeners, metaphorically speaking… The two movies that Dr. Bishop examines during this episode include the 1970s odd couple of double features, I Drink Your Blood (1971) and I Eat Your Skin (1971) — the latter, a G-rated, black-and-white movie that was actually produced in 1964. Dr. Bishop brings his usual astute analysis to these proceedings, informing us of actual onscreen murder of an animal, and therefore, which instance(s) of blood in the film is real blood. And speaking of blood, we learn about meat pies being injected with infected, rabid dog blood, thereby constituting a very early example of “the infected zombie” narrative. And Kyle even goes so far as to tell us about a Horror movie where the evil characters “treat people poorly.” And that's only his notes on the first film! Wait until you hear what he has to say about the second! Join us! Note: To view ALL of Dr. Bishop's Dead Man Still Walking solocast episodes can USE THIS LINK. And to view ALL of Dr. Bishop's episode-by-episode commentaries on The Last of Us – Season 1, with Jay of the Dead, then USE THIS LINK. Dead Man Still Walking is a biweekly, short-form solocast hosted by Dr. Walking Dead Kyle Bishop, author of American Zombie Gothic and How Zombies Conquered Popular Culture. Dr. Walking Dead also presents a popular segment called The Dead Zone on regular episodes of this podcast. Dr. Bishop is an academic and professional scholar of zombie films and other zombie narratives. He has been teaching for 23 years. In Mark Anthony Green's debut feature, “Opus,” a young journalist (Ayo Edebiri) is invited to the home of a reclusive pop icon (John Malkovich) who mysteriously disappeared 30 years ago. The first-time director drew on his own experience as a former GQ editor who covered celebrity and style for 13 years. He joins Tom Power to talk about the film and how it explores the illusion of celebrity culture from the perspective of a journalist. If you enjoy this conversation, you might also enjoy Tom's conversation with actor Kate Hudson on her movie “Shell” or actor Chloë Sevigny on the cost of being cool.
