No último fim de semana, mais de duas dezenas de brasileiros participaram da premiação do 12º SOVAS (Society of Voice Arts & Sciences) Voice Awards, conhecido como o “Oscar da voz”. O paranaense Sebastian Zancanaro consolidou esse protagonismo ao estabelecer o recorde da noite e aparecer, com sua equipe, em 11 indicações e vencer em duas categorias. Cleide Klock, correspondente da RFI em Los Angeles A cerimônia premia profissionais de dublagem, locução, audiolivros, animação, publicidade e audiodescrição e aconteceu no mesmo palco em que, no domingo anterior, Wagner Moura e Kleber Mendonça Filho receberam o Globo de Ouro, em Beverly Hills. “Receber o SOVAS é uma honra imensa. Esse prêmio tem um peso real em Hollywood porque celebra a excelência da voz e de quem vive contando histórias. Estar aqui cercado pelos melhores dos melhores da nossa indústria me inspira, contagia e eleva o nosso trabalho, eleva o meu trabalho. Representar o Brasil e a nossa comunidade nesse espaço é motivo de muito orgulho”, conta Sebastian. No SOVAS deste ano, cinco projetos produzidos pelo brasileiro — três longas-metragens e duas séries — chegaram à lista final. As indicações vieram pelo trabalho como produtor e diretor de elenco, e as estatuetas vieram por “Escape From ISIS” e “Crônicas de Exorcismo: O Início”. Este é o segundo ano consecutivo em que Sebastian é indicado ao SOVAS. Em 2025, ele já havia levado duas estatuetas pelo trabalho no filme “Deep Sea”. De Ponta Grossa a Hollywood A trajetória do brasileiro começou cedo e longe dos estúdios californianos. “Nasci em Ponta Grossa, no Paraná, e fiz teatro lá. Com 14 anos, peguei carteira profissional como ator. Então fiz muito teatro, escrevi também peças, poesias e tinha alguns membros da minha família que também faziam parte do teatro em Curitiba. Sempre tive essa paixão, essa curiosidade pelas artes. Sempre quis morar nos Estados Unidos, porque eu tinha uma paixão, uma afinidade muito grande pela língua inglesa, e com 18 anos eu vim para cá, na década de 1990”, relembra. Nos Estados Unidos, Zancanaro se formou pela Academia Americana de Artes Dramáticas, em Nova York, mas fincou residência em Los Angeles, onde há duas décadas se dedica a tudo o que envolve voz e atuação. Já trabalhou em grandes produções internacionais de animação, como A Era do Gelo, e em produções gravadas integralmente em seus estúdios, como Diário de um Banana. Hoje, a maioria de seus projetos é na língua inglesa, mas ele também já fez conteúdos em português para televisão e streaming. “Acho que um dos projetos de que eu mais gostei foi a série de época O Nome da Rosa, que foi para o Brasil, inclusive; a dublagem, a gente fez bem antes da pandemia. Foi um projeto supercorrido, mas tinha um roteiro maravilhoso, com uma qualidade muito boa e um time maravilhoso, com Jonas Torres, Erik Marmo, Eduardo Carvalho e Carlos Machado.” À frente de um estúdio que realiza dublagens e gravações de voz para cinema e TV, Zancanaro divide o tempo entre produção, direção de elenco e escrita. O próximo passo, admite, é assumir mais projetos como diretor e roteirista, talvez fazendo ainda mais essa ponte Hollywood–Brasil. “Fico feliz em fazer parte dessa comunidade aqui em Hollywood, que está sendo reconhecida no Globo de Ouro, no Oscar, no SOVAS. Muitos atores brasileiros — Mabel César, por exemplo, que ganhou no SOVAS o prêmio de diretora de dublagem em inglês pelo filme Homem com H (Netflix) — e eu ganhando a premiação também como diretor de elenco.
