One of the cool things about food in general is its ability to transport you from wherever you are to the origin of whatever taste you're currently enjoying. But there's always the local element — the restaurant you're sitting in, the chef who prepped it, the place that supplied the ingredients. The event we talk about at the top of this episode is all about all of those things: the Fondy Farm Feast. The feast Aug. 18 will take place on a mere sliver of the Mequon Nature Preserve's 510 acres, provideingan incredible setting for an even more incredible meal thanks to the efforts of an all-star chef lineup:Zakiya Courtney of Vegan SoulMary Kastman of PurslaneGregory León of AmilindaMartin Magaña of Mezcla Fusion RevolutionTravis Martinez of Sugar StudioSam Sandrin of Midwest SadKristin Schwab of Uncle Wolfie's Dinner DinerAlso on this episode, we discuss a new Mediterranean restaurant on Water Street, a wildly ambitious fusion spot opening on the Northwest side and a review of Thai-Japanese fusion eatery Room Service in the latest issue of Milwaukee Magazine.Produced and edited by Marcus Doucette

During the 1st week of farmFEST, MSF hosted three livestock nutrition workshops across the tri-state Mallee, at Balranald, NSW, Murrayville, VIC and Peake, SA. Joining project Manager Nick Paltridge and Extension Officer Kylie Matthewson were Emily King National Extension Manager for Australian Wool Innovation Limited (AWI), and Hamish Dickson, Ruminant Nutritionist from AgriPartner Consulting. After the first two workshops, Hamish and Emily caught up with the MSF team at the Lameroo Hotel. Hamish explains how he has been working in the Mallee over the past two years with this project to test different feeds, so that farmers can be better placed to understand the energy, protein, fire and mineral content of their feeds. How farmers supplement their feed base with grain, hay and straw was also addressed. Emily gives us a quick background on AWI critical investment areas like Life Time Ewe Management, a joint venture with Meat and Livestock Australia on supplementation at weaning and what curly questions she has received on tour so far. The Yellow Barn Magic: Together we form a great visionary/execution team that balanced out well between beauty and aesthetics with organization and implementation. Azuraye's Magic: I am fascinated by people and relationships, particularly in relation to nature-based system designs of organizations. I am an Advisor and an Essentialist: I organize information (thoughts, beliefs, attention) so that I can best advise people and groups. I like to build bridges of trust with people 1-1, and to facilitate building it in small teams. I enjoy doing this with our teams at the Yellow Barn Farm and use these skills to better serve the community. Merrie's Magic: Having come from the Entertainment and Hotel Industry, I love event planning. Events range from school tours, farm-to-table dinners and educational experiences around food and agriculture. I am a Maven and Performer, the Spark type translation is that I enjoy researching, teaching and story-telling. The joke is that if Azuraye can organize and build it, I can paint it. Making magic happen on the farm is my special skill as a visionary and futurist. I listen to the heart of the farm and have been a steward of the land and history for 20 years. Get Involved! As at home playing dreamy house and breaks as she is navigating through harsh industrial and techno, her ability to adapt has rightfully earned her a regular radio show on Noods and a residency at Bristol's Motion as well as spots on festival line ups across the UK and beyond. One of the brains behind the top notch bookings at Bristol institute The Love Inn, she's had a hand in bringing some of the most exciting artists to play in the southwestern city. Palette, her own resident takeover at the club in June, saw her invite some of her favourite DJs to join her in the booth, including D.Tiffany, Ciel, Vaal and Kiara Scuro. Ahead of her set at Farmfest next weekend we invited her to show us what she's all about. If you don't know about Ellie yet, get to know...

This wee: 35W bridge collapse 10 years later, nuclear waste debate, Farmfest 2017, U of M Big10 media days.
Live instrumentation and dance music are often disassociated, perhaps this is because we have become accustomed to the sight of laptops, buttons and machinery. However, that is not to say that there aren't people producing electronic music with instruments in this day and age, no, far from it in fact. Ishmael is a producer most commonly known for his take on house music having released on labels such as Wolf Music, Church and Deso. However, most recently he has taken a sidestep away from the typical narrative of a dance music producer, hooking up with instrumentalists to create what he has titled the Ishmael Ensemble. "Songs For Knotty" is the first release to emerge from the project and has just been released on Banoffee Pies Records. The project sees more of a focus towards jazz and abstract electronics than club built sounds, a twist in a musical career which shows great promise. Ahead of his appearance at Farmfestival alongside the Ensemble we caught up with him for a chat as he contributes to our mix series... Ismael and his Ensemble play Farmfest 28th & 29th July. http://www.farmfestival.co.uk/
Since 2014 Banoffee pies have been delivering tasteful records which have remained consistent and enigmatic. Ruf Dug, Mr Mendel, MMT, Wendel Sield, Fyi Chris, Florist and many more have all featured. Upon a dig through their back catalogue it is notable that they have become tastemakers, often ahead of trends and ready to inspire. We caught up with them as they are about to release two compilations . Catch Banoffee Pies at Farmfest this summer. @farmfestival
