Mic and Brigitte return to discuss The Substance being nominated for the Academy Awards and horror's impact on the ceremony. They talk recent watches including Brigitte's first viewing on A Serbian Film, Companion, Heart Eyes, Wolf Man, and The Last House on The Left knockoff/remake Chaos (2005).
James Cameron-Wilson says that UK box office is down for the fifth week in a row. #3 is Companion which James says is best enjoyed knowing little about it. It has laughs, thrills and plenty of surprises but is essentially a black comedy. Steven Soderbergh's horror Presence has slipped to #20 but James found it a one-trick pony with little flesh on its bones, short though it is. He suggests everyone avoids at all costs Amazon Prime's matrimonial romcom You're Cordially Invited. With Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon, it is depressing, irritating and mean-spirited and beggars belief in its awfulness. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Forget the renaissance, it's time for an 'Imran-aissance'! For the first time on HIAW we're discussing not one but TWO films on an episode starring our favourite chocolate boy of the 2000's & 2010's: Imran Khan. The two films are Shakun Batra's 'Ek Main aur Ekk Tu' starring Imran and Kareena Kapoor and Danish Aslam's 'Break Ke Baad' where Imran's leading lady was Deepika Padukone. To talk about the movies with us it's the return of film and TV critic Suchin Mehrotra. Yes, we got him to talk about non-blue people this time (to get that reference check out the episode we did with him on 'Avatar'). Topics discussed include: What made Imran special? What happened to the romantic chocolate boy in Hindi cinema? Did we not appreciate "frothy" cinema while we had it? The subtle portrayal of modern parenting in both films, how the leading ladies had more substantial roles in Imran's films, how the two films are similar and different, and a lot more. You can find Suchin's work with FIlm Companion here: https://www.filmcompanion.in/author/suchin-mehrotra/You can listen to 'The Streaming Show' hosted by Suchin here: https://open.spotify.com/show/3BuRq7JjyOHNKEUIYgtNLdHas 'Avatar' Aged Well? : https://youtu.be/s2sxRS8X364?si=DCPIvjW03CIV_DkHFollow Abbas here: https://www.instagram.com/abbasmomin88/Follow Urjita here: https://www.instagram.com/urjitawani/Get early access to ‘Has It Aged Well?' audio episodes on Amazon Music, Subscribe to the feed: https://music.amazon.in/podcasts/24d527b5-0544-4bd6-a7ff-073fa72d846a/has-it-aged-wellSubscribe to IVM Pop's Youtube Channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@IVMPopFollow IVM Pop on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ivmpop/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Back then, she was reviewing films on YouTube for the Film Companion website. This segment evolved into "Not a Movie Review" with Sucharita. A curated selection of episodes from "Not a Movie Review" was subsequently released as a web series on Disney+ Hotstar under the same title in March 2020. In this episode, we're getting into what makes a movie 'woke'—is it a new trend, or has good cinema always been woke? We also explore the movie critique scene in India, talking about the hurdles critics face, and of course, shooting the breeze about films from Archies to Animal. Plus, we're spilling the tea on some cool independent flicks that released recently. Don't miss the fun and insightful discussion!
