Dre “All Day” Baldwin teaches what he learned to help people dominate their game in work and in life. How To Dominate Your Game At Work & In Life (And Avoid Feeling As If You've Wasted Your Talent And Opportunity). He was a hard-working athlete who had distant dreams of going pro, but he was coming from a small NCAA D3 school, and had no connections to the professional world. To add insult to injury, he couldn't even find an agent to represent him, let alone a professional team to sign with. His career appeared to be over. Most players don't make it pro. It was then he decided to attend an exposure camp -- a job fair for athletes -- which changed his life and sports career. From there things started moving in the right direction. Ahead of the event, he started showing up to the gym every day and doing my work, even when -- ESPECIALLY when -- he least felt like it. This allowed me to tap into a level of confidence that he didn't even know he had -- which not only helped his performance, but made other people believe in him. His mental toughness sharpened, developing the internal fortitude to push himself when he needed it most. When all was said and done, he knew his strategy worked when he became a 9-year professional athlete-turned-entrepreneur who has taught his framework to over 73 MILLION business people and athletes worldwide since 2005! He shares his framework for how to dominate any "game” in business, sports and life so you can and avoid feeling as if you've wasted your talent and opportunity. Show Highlights Make your leadership and school Youtube famous. “ Work On Your Game” framework you need to know. Celebrate “separation day” with the “The Third Day” mindset. Powerful way of answering people's questions. Discipline creates the super you. Stop looking at other people's plates. Show up and deliver every single time, regardless of emotion with this. Motivation is for amateurs. Out last the clock at midnight. “Nobody is handed leadership. Leadership is taken. In business it is the exact same thing. You have to take initiative, meaning you have to choose an initiative.” -Dre “All Day” Baldwin “You're not going to be for everybody and you don't want to be for everybody. As they say, "When you're trying to be for everybody, you're really for nobody." I would tell a school leader to put yourself out there and how you are. Let the people who want to be with you, let them become your audience. Martha Dunagin Saunders is the sixth President of the University of West Florida. In her 30-plus years in higher education, she has served in academic and leadership roles at universities in Florida, Georgia, Wisconsin and Mississippi. Her area of academic expertise is in public relations and crisis communication for which she has won numerous awards, including two Public Relations Society of America’s coveted Silver Anvils. Saunders led the University of West Florida to its status as a top-performing public university with the third-highest score in the Florida Board of Governors performance metrics. She established the UWF Innovation Institute, Center for Cybersecurity and the Office of Equity and Diversity. She oversaw the reorganization of the institution’s colleges, and under her guidance, UWF established two new named colleges–the Usha Kundu M.D. College of Health and the Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering. Saunders’ vision for UWF is for it to grow beyond its beginnings as a regional comprehensive university and be seen as a leader in innovation and cutting edge academic programs. She plans to build on the University’s strengths and its undergraduate traditions while creating programs that will attract the faculty and research funding needed to make the leap to the next level. As an entrepreneurial leader, Saunders is passionate about creating innovative solutions to deal with the dynamic challenges facing higher education. As a change maker, she drives action behind these solutions to propel higher education into the future. Show Highlights Martha shares how to be an authentic leader. How honest advice can make a profound impact. Ways to recognize and reward top teachers 2 questions that will capture the essence of your school to help with teacher retention and recruitment Martha’s advice on not letting intitivitives break your bank and zap all your energy Lead with a “Frontier spirit” Leadership teams need balance to compliment your vision . “I read it in a book recently and it said, ‘if something scares you get closer.’ I think I would put that on every school because we pull away from things we don't understand. And that's true in every field. If we don't understand something, we back off from it and we often deprive ourselves of some real growth. So I think that's a rather provocative statement.” Full Transcript (Available on the website) S2 E3 Dr Martha Saunders Transcript Martha’s Resources & Contact Info: erin@idgroupbranding.com uwf.edu/offices/president Twitter Facebook LinkedIn Looking for more?
