Blir det några överraskningar under Deadline Day?

The Second Phase Podcast - Personal Branding & Brand Marketing and Life Strategies for Success for Female Entrepreneurs

There may be times in which you feel your brain is not working properly, you can't learn fast enough, you don't understand things, or maybe you are tired of navigating negative thoughts. But if you learn to leverage your brain and its unique power, you will succeed. When you learn to leverage your brain you can change behavior patterns and shift negative thoughts to achieve more success in life and business. It's not how you learn, it's what you understand - leverage your brain to make understanding easier When it comes to learning, what happens inside your head is much more important than the way you learn. For example, using flashcards, mind mapping, and taking notes. If you can't explain a topic in your own words and in a way that you understand and in a simple language, you haven't actually integrated it. You haven't taken the unfamiliar and put it into a familiar context. Until you can do this, you can't understand things. As you hear something, think about what imagery comes to mind. Likewise, how would you explain it to a 5-year-old? Test your understanding of a topic. If the predictions of your understanding aren't accurate, ask yourself why. To improve understanding, leverage your brain and its unique abilities. Leverage your brain to apply understanding in your business and life When it comes to learning, Collin explained that people generally fall into 3 different personality types. The 3 learning personalities, or mindsets are: Hobbyist - learning just for fun Hoarder - learning just in case Hunter - learning just in time Young children typically fall into the hobbyist mindset. They are typically having fun while learning. Similarly, retirees fall into the hobbyist mindset. They spend time learning because they enjoy it and like the process. The hunter is learning for a very specific reason. They only care about what they need to learn and they block out everything else. Hunters recognize that what really matters is what matters to them in that specific moment. Most people fall into the hoarder mindset. They think that all information is valuable, but it may not be valuable at this moment in time. Hoarders like to have information just in case. They think that the information may be useful at some point in the future. They don't want to miss out on an opportunity to learn something. Hoarders seldom go deep into any subject. Every time they start to explore, they get distracted by something and want to learn about that. Their brains are full of disjointed information that isn't very useful because they are unsure how to apply the information. You can leverage your brain to focus better and shift away from the hoarder mindset. Leverage your brain to organize and discern what you learn In order to organize and discern what you learn you must systematize. Organize by what is valuable and important to you. You have to have a process for saying no. Identify what is most valuable and important for you right now and every time something else comes up, ask the question, what am I willing to say no to so that I am able to focus on this thing that is my priority? Collin reminded us that you have to say no before you can say yes. There is always an opportunity cost to saying yes. If you aren't cognizant of that, you will end up saying no to the important thing for the thing that distracted you and this will become a vicious cycle. This cycle prevents you from truly committing to things. You can divide your time between two things, and you can have multiple interests, but keep in mind, that your brain is now splitting its time. Having multiple priorities is not the same as having one priority that you are fully focused on. It is important to leverage your brain and control your thinking to prioritize. Robyn emphasized how this is similar to having 5 goals at one time. When you have multiple big goals instead of focusing on one or two, you aren't able to go all in on the goals to accomplish them. You end up being less productive when juggling multiple large goals. Learning to say no The hoarder mentality is never effective for learning or accomplishing your goals. Being in the hobbyist mindset is great because it's fun and an end in and of itself. Know what you are willing to say no to so that you can say yes to other things. Have criteria defined, here's why I am saying yes to this, and here's what would have to happen for me to say no? In order to be able to say no to things, you must have a hierarchy of values. If you can't define your values, you have nothing to base your decisions on. To begin, write down the first three values that come to mind, the three values you want to live by. After you identify those three, are there any you want to replace? Once you have decided on your final three values, ask when you've seen others exhibit each value. What was it about the way they behaved that showed me what this value looked like, and how am I going to live this out in my life, what will I say no to because I want to live this value? Every time you have a new shiny object pop up, ask if it is aligned with your values. Is it the thing I was prioritizing before, or the shiny object? If it is the thing you were prioritizing before, you need to say no to the shiny object so that you can say yes to the original priority. Identifying your values will help leverage your brain to guide your decisions Where your values, visions, and passions overlap is where your purpose lies. When you have confusion around your values, you let outside sources influence you and therefore there is confusion and you aren't able to create and develop genuine relationships, which are so important in the entrepreneurial space. To define your values, Google a list of values and do an exercise to narrow down your top 3 to 5. James Clear has a list on his website to refer to. List the top 15 that resonate with you. Then narrow the list down to 7 to 10 to eliminate overlap. From there, narrow the list down to the top 3 to 5 that really represent the values you want to live by. Once you have defined your values, make your decisions in your business, your life, and your relationships based on your values. Making predictions about the results your behaviors will produce Think of this model of yourself and the world. This model will help you predict the results your behaviors will produce or what your experiences will be. For example, I'm like this, therefore when I interact with the world in this way, I will feel like this and these are the results I'll get. Many times the model people create for themselves fails because they hadn't predicted the results properly. If you don't leverage your brain, you won't stick to the plan Most people make plans and think they will receive a specific outcome because they made the plan. However, quite often people don't stick to the plan or change the plan and therefore do not get the results originally intended. Or, when they do follow through with the plan they do not feel the way they thought they would feel or do not achieve the results they thought they would. When trying to predict your outcomes, ask yourself, how is it that I can do something that I don't want to do? If I want to do something, I write it down and yet don't do it. This makes no sense. The reason this happens is that people make an assumption that they are a unified personality in their heads. This model doesn't work because the truth is that we all have multiple personalities in our heads. There are different characters inside your mind who are guiding your decisions as a result of the different parts of the brain. You can leverage your brain because it is so powerful The cerebral cortex is the front part of your brain where a lot of your executive decisions are being made. In addition, it is referred to as your conscious self, that inner voice you hear. But there is much more to your brain. There is the hindbrain and the middle brain, it isn't just the rational brain that determines your decisions and behaviors. A lot of our behaviors are not rational so to address behaviors and try to change them by traditional means doesn't work. If you are doing things that you don't want to do in regards to survival-based behaviors such as eating, drinking, reproduction, and sleeping, you can't solve them by reading a book or the Bible. You need to respond with something that fulfills the function you want to stop. For example, you cannot replace watching YouTube videos with journaling or reading self-help books. You can't replace something that is not functionally the same and doesn't meet the same requirements. One thing that you can try to do, discovers why your brain wants to do that function. Chances are it is trying to escape from something by doing that behavior. Consider other ways you can escape without exerting yourself physically or being actively engaged. Find behaviors that check the boxes for escaping a behavior but is more healthy. For example, if you get sucked into social media when you feel the urge to scroll, stare at the wall instead of scrolling through social media. When you stare at the wall, it escapes from what you need to escape from, it takes very little effort and has a very positive effect as you get a dopamine reset. Staring and not thinking will allow your brain to drift into the diffused state, where no particular part of your brain is active, you are basically zoning out. You will spike curiosity and creativity by doing this. The key is to take action, leverage your brain, and rewrite your neuropathways Robyn shared how journaling works much better for her than meditation, but both work to redirect neuropathways in our brains. Writing also stimulates creativity. Self-experimentation Experiment with different activities to discover what works for you. For some, it may be meditation, for others journaling, for others starting at a wall. When something doesn't work, your first thought should be that is great feedback. What about my understanding caused me to make an incorrect prediction? If you do this every day, you will begin to make great progress. Reflect on why you get on social media, how does it make you feel? Is there anything else that makes you feel that way, but doesn't have the downside? Leverage your brain to learn the art of making predictions Most people don't make predictions. For example, you predict that doing push-ups will be a good alternative to getting on social media. Go do the push-ups and then ask yourself if that made you want to go back to work, ask if it made you feel great, or made you feel energized. If the answer to any of those is no, then your prediction was wrong. This is a great learning experience. Now you can discover why it was wrong for you. What did you feel instead, what other things make you feel that way? This is a great way to learn more about yourself. Robyn shared that in You, Me, and Anxiety, she included an exercise to identify what makes you feel certain ways. For example, if your stomach is hurting, what trigger caused the pain to begin? When did it start hurting, what were you doing when it started hurting, who were you with and is it anxiety over the situation that is causing the pain? You must be able to identify what you are feeling before you can identify what is making you feel that way. It may not be possible for people to change their level of conscientiousness. It is a fundamental personality trait that may not be able to be changed and even if it does shift your thoughts or feelings, they won't shift by much. Instead of assuming that you aren't an organized person and that any organized approach isn't going to work for you, think about your version of being organized. Many people won't journal, but they may do micro changes and predict the next 5 minutes.  The entire experience of doing push-ups only takes a few minutes and this may work well for a lot of people. Once you've done this several times, you recognize that this is what works for you and you now have a new and better behavior. The big takeaways for changing negative behaviors When we have repetitive bad habits that we want to change, we can make predictions, do experiments with new behaviors, and adjust based on what works and what doesn't work. There is no one size fits all approach and you have to discover what works for you through experimentation. If you aren't making predictions and evaluating how things make you feel, you won't ever identify what works for you. Always align with your values for the best results When you are aligned with your values, you are rooted in who you are meant to be, who you were called to be, versus trying to please someone else or adapting our behaviors based on what the world expects of us. If you are working to shift your mindset or get unstuck, these exercises are a great place to start. You can also download my free eBook, on how to alleviate anxiety by developing healthy habits for a healthy mind. This week’s Misfit Entrepreneur is Brandon Fong. What if I told you that at any point in time, you are one connection away from huge growth and success in your career or life? Just one connection. Would you believe me? Brandon does…because he has proven it – not just in his own life and businesses, but for the thousands he has helped realize this power in their own lives and businesses. Brandon is the founder of 7 Figure Millennial. He’s been featured in Fast Company, became the youngest member of the Genius Network with Joe Polish and elite millionaires at age 22, and has helped build multiple 7-Figure marketing operations. He teaches people how to deeply connect and develop real, authentic, and meaningful relationships with people – virtually. In the current climate we are operating in as entrepreneurs, this skill is invaluable, so I asked Brandon to come on the show and share all of his secrets with you. 7 Figure Millennial Podcast Brandon-Fong.com Magic Connection Method Gift: BFO.NG/Misfit Brandon’s entrepreneurship journey started in middle school. Each day when he went to pay for his launch, when he went to pay, on the screen it would say $0. The reason being is because he qualified for the school lunch program because his family was very challenged financially. It frustrated him and drove him never to have that problem. His parents did everything they could to nurture this in him and taught that many times success comes from being resourceful. And you can be insanely resourceful if you know how to connect with people. His parents would let him skip school at 16 to go to networking events to meet, learn from, and connect with successful people. Every time Brandon has leveled up in his life has been because of someone he has met and connected with. He also learned to prioritize health, happiness, and relationships alongside money. Talk to us about being just one connection away and how real that is for people… The people you look up to are a lot more accessible than you think they are. Just because someone has large success, doesn’t mean they are not open to connecting with you. You just have to reach out. The worst thing that can happen is that nobody replies. Tell us about the Magic Connection Method. How does it work? If you reach out in a real, genuine way, you will stand out in today’s world. The Magic Connection Method is a process Brandon Developed that has 3 parts. The goal is to get someone to respond and open the door to have a relationship. Step 1: The Hook The biggest mistake people make when reaching out to others is they make it about themselves instead of who they are contacting. The goal of the hook is to make it about them and connect with them in a genuine way in which you are interested in them and can talk to specific reasons why. Step 2: The Irresistible Offer “A compelling offer is 10x more convincing than a compelling argument” Example of normal offer vs. an irresistible offer is the new mattress companies that let you sleep on the mattress for 100 nights and if you are not satisfied, you can send it back and get your money back – no questions asked. It’s a win, win compared to going to a store and buying a mattress and hoping it works out. For your irresistible offer, ask “How can I show that I care about them, minimize risk for them, give them a lot to gain, and make it easy to say yes.” At the 19 min mark, Brandon gives an example of how he worked for free for a short while with Jonathan Levi. Step 3: The “No Oriented Question” When you say yes to something, you are giving away something The exact opposite is true with saying “no.” It is choice. A “no oriented question” may be something like “Would you be opposed me to doing x” It is giving them the opportunity to say no instead of trying to force a yes. You’ve said you can help entrepreneurs uncover $100k+ in their backyard, explain more on this… There is lots of untapped potential in a business. It just needs to be found. It goes back to the Magic Connection. Identify your best client Refine the offer to be irresistible Communicate with clients and prospects in a better way and you’ll get better results. Talk to us about the steps you take in a business to create a world marketing program? It takes a systematic process to genuinely reach out to people. Business is people at the end of the day. The Magic Connection Method is key. One exercise is to identify your top 5 customers that are the best and most profitable and who the top 5 worst customers are that are not profitable and drain time. Once you have the profile, you can then create an irresistible offer that is tangible to best buyer prospects. Track everything so you can see the response rates, engagement, etc. Start small in your outreach, see what works and what doesn’t, then scale from there. What are some of your best practices for how to build lists and find good leads? You have to have a solid client profile and decision maker profile. Then you can use tools like LinkedIn Navigator and Search There are people that scrape lists for specific industries, etc. There are a lot of resources to use and you can search for ones specific to your buyer and industry. What’s the #1 piece of advice for a new entrepreneur starting out? If you ask for money, you’ll get advice. If you ask for advice, you’ll get money. This is about feedback more than advice. The Ikea effect. People value Ikea more because they had to do the work and build it. How can you become the piece of Ikea furniture to invest in? Asking for feedback, taking it, and then reporting back on the success of it being grateful resonates. At the 40 min mark, Brandon talks about prioritizing happiness, health, and relationships.   Best Quote: A compelling offer is 10x more convincing than a compelling argument   Brandon's Misfit 3: You are one connection away from leveling up. People are way more accessible than you may think. Clearly understand what happiness means for you. There is nothing in the way of your being happy right now. Define it for yourself. It’s a choice. If you ask for money, you’ll get feedback. If you ask for feedback, you’ll get money. Show Sponsors: Uber for Business:  www.Uber.com/Misfit ROI International: www.ROIINTL.com/Podcast

Jonathan Levi is an experienced entrepreneur, angel investor, and lifehacker from Silicon Valley. After successfully selling his Inc 5,000 rated startup in April of 2011, Levi packed up for Israel to gain experience in the Venture Capital industry. Levi has been featured in such publications and programs as the Wall Street Journal, Nana10 Television, The Silicon Valley Business Journal, Bimmer Magazine, BMW Blog, and Donna Fenn's latest book, Upstarts! How GenY Entrepreneurs are Rocking the World of Business and 8 Ways You Can Profit from Their Success, among others. Favorite Success Quote “The greatest happiness in life is that we are loved. Loved for ourselves or loved in spite of ourselves.”~Victor Hugo Key Points 1. Learn to Properly Delegate Chances are, living the life of your dreams involves you doing a lot more of what you enjoy and a helluva lot less of the things that you don't. Determine activities in your life that are neither enjoyable nor particularly profitable and delegate them to others. For example, you can hire a maid to come and clean your house, do your laundry, and even cook your meals for between $20-$50/hour. If you are earning even $5 more per hour by doing this, than you are enhancing your productivity and your dollar per output. It's a win win for everyone. 2. Do an 80/20 Analysis Around 20% of what you do in every area of your life will account for 80% of the results that you see. To live a fulfilling and meaningful life, you must determine the things that you are content being in the 80th percentile for, and those that you are willing to invest the extra time into. Do you want to be a top level bodybuilder, or just be lean and healthy? Do you want to be a Forbes list entrepreneur making millions a year, or just have the income to live life on your terms? There's no right or wrong, you simply have to decide what it is you want and allocate your resources properly. 3. Apply the Productivity Mindset to Your Personal Life Seek to use the productivity mindset in all areas of your life, especially social. For example if you have the choice between going to an entrepreneurs mastermind or going to a club and getting hammered, it's pretty clear which option will lead to greater results. Enjoy yourself, party, live life, but make sure that you are filling your life with high caliber social activities as well. 5. Speed Reading Tips Don't move your eyes, this makes you effectively blind and wastes time Don't Sub-vocalize(say the words in your head) Create images to help you recall information better 5. Sleep The Every Man Schedule Sleep 6 hours at night and then take a half hour nap in the middle of the day. This will save you a few hours each day, leave you feeling refreshed and is more congruent with your evolutionary programming. 6. Passive Income is About Freedom The holy grail of finances is passive income. To be making money while you sleep. What you must realize is that this goal is about freedom and having the options to do what you want. Never forsake options for a paycheck, you can always make more money, but once time leaves, it never comes back.

The #1 problem with list building for most people isn't getting the leads. Or even setting up an autoresponder. It's not knowing what to email their list. This is huge for people. Almost every email marketer struggles to come with engaging "content" which gets the job done. Here's why this happens... If you're anything like the vast mob of email marketers, you think of your list as a list. A bunch of email addresses in your Aweber account. A statistic. You don't think of these as real people. That... or the complete opposite. You're humanizing the crap out of your list and you seek their approval. Will they like me if I say this? Will they get hurt if I don't say that? Both schools of thought are dead wrong. Find out how to never run out of things to say to your list.
