He has served as a military consultant in general dentistry to the Air Force Surgeon General. He received certification from the American Board of Dentistry and is a diplomat of the Federal Services Board of General Dentistry. A prolific researcher, Dr. Burgess has authored more than 400 articles, abstracts and textbook chapters and currently receives research funding from federal and industry sources. He is a reviewer for four dental journals and is a member of the advisory board for the Dental Advisor and the Editorial Board for Inside Dentistry. He is a past chair of the Biomaterials Section of the American Association for Dental Schools and has served on the Executive Board for the American Association for Dental Research. Currently he is a member of the American Dental Associationâs Council on Scientific Affairs and a member of two ADA committees for specification development for materials and devices. He is active in clinical evaluations of dental materials and is an investigator on clinical protocols evaluating adhesives, ceramic restoratives, fluoride releasing materials, low shrinkage posterior composites and impression materials. Dr. Burgess lectures extensively nationally and internationally and has presented more than 900 continuing education courses. Dr. Burgess is married to a wonderful lady, Patricia. They now reside in Birmingham, AL.

In her previous professional role, she served as the Director of Operating Room services and clinical attending for the Department of General Dentistry at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY. Originally from El Salvador, Dr. Paz moved to southern California, with his wife Linda, shortly after graduation from the Eastman Dental Center at the University of Rochester, New York. He joined the orthodontic community and established a private practice in Beverly Hills followed by one in Marina del Rey. Believing that people prefer to minimize the orthodontic process, Dr. Paz specialized in Lingual braces, placed behind the teeth, where they don’t show. When Invisalign was introduced to SoCal he was one of the first orthodontists to jump on board. Dr. Paz is internationally known for practicing Lingual braces and is a Platinum Invisalign orthodontist. Today Dr. Paz practices in a single office location, Marina del Rey, the community where he lives. Dr. (Colonel) Bob Meyer retired after a 30-year career in the Army, practiced comprehensive dentistry for 16 years in private practice, and in 2015 became a full-time, volunteer dental missionary. Bob became extensively involved with portable dental equipment as commander of the world's only airborne dental unit responsible for deploying portable dental teams wherever the military was sent. Bob also directed the Army's Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency program, where he prepared young dentists to function independently and competently, in often austere settings, which also helped set the stage for dental mission work. Bob has been President and is now the Executive Director of the Christian Dental Society. Dr. Bob and Diane Meyer have been married for 38 years and have three children and eight grandchildren, all active in churches. For the past 25 years, Bob and Diane have led or participated in over 60 short-term portable dental missions in 38 different countries, utilizing 18 different Christian organizations. God has uniquely prepared Bob and Diane with the knowledge, flexibility, and talents to organize, lead, teach, and provide dental care and encouragement to the less fortunate in developing countries. They have authored numerous articles, often lecture on portable dental missions, and have written three books: Truth, Teeth, and Travel Vol I and II and Dental Mission Manual for Portable, Short-term Dental Trips.

Mr. Orfanidis is affiliated with Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in the capacity of Research Associate. Dr. Shannon Griffin is a general dentist in private practice, a part-time clinical instructor in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency program at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry and a regular guest lecturer at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Griffin is also a Jameson coach who often coordinates projects designed specifically for those starting a dental practice from scratch.
