In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we look at the connection between time management and confidence. Many of us think we're frauds, or that we're not adequately qualified to do the work we do. But how much of that anxiety stems from perceived incompetence versus having too much on our plates? We are all stretched too thin right now, which makes us vulnerable to anxiety, overwhelm and burnout. My guest this week, Frank Buck, offers practical tools and strategies to better organize ourselves and manage our time so that we can more confidently approach our work and overall lives.About My GuestFrank Buck is currently ranked #1 in the world by Global Gurus "Top 30" in the "time management" category. Like many business owners I made the transition from paper to digital tools a few years ago, but some days it feels as if I am juggling too many digital tools. So my goal for this year is to streamline my digital toolkit and make those tools really productive. To help me do that I turned to Dr. Frank Buck, author of Get Organized Digitally for a few productivity tips and tricks. He suggests: It is time to get rid of the sticky notes and paper tasks lists and get yourself a good digital task list. Look for a tool which connects to your calendar and address book with both desktop and mobile versions Say goodbye to scrambling for pen every time you have an idea. With a good notes application you capture all those brilliant ideas that pop into your head and come back to them when you have time. Above all select tools you feel comfortable using. Here are some questions I asked Frank that you will benefit from when you listen to his interview: 1. We know how important it is to take notes during meetings (both group and 1-on-1) and phone calls, as well as virtually. How can I use digital organization to make those notes more valuable? Frank uses Evernote. You can also consider LiveScribe (https://us.livescribe.com/) and Onenote as good options for note taking tools and use as a resource source. 3. You talk about digital organization allowing tools to work together. Can you give us some examples? What about Slack, Basecamp, Wrike, Asana, Calendar appointment programs like Calendly? 4. You say your day involves doing only two things. That sounds hard to believe. What are those two things? 5. What do you think is the purpose of having an organized life, from your perspective? In today's world, we're often overwhelmed by our digital devices and the volume of available digital information. https://amzn.to/3x5KCY6 (Get Organized Digitally! )outlines a complete digital organizational system for the busy educator and helps you harness the power of technology to save time. This book is your go-to source, presenting the "nuts and bolts" of exactly how to make technology work for you in both your personal and professional life. The motivation for the book was the Pandemic. If it hadn't been for technology, we wouldn't have had school in so many places. We have always had people like you and I who were pushing the frontiers when it came to technology. But, we also have so many who aren't comfortable with technology and especially don't have a way for it all to work together. When everything is pencil and paper, life is easy. When everything is digital, it's easy. But when you have one foot in the boat and one foot on the dock, that's when life becomes hard. This book is the how to do it book to organize your life digitally. It connects the dots. It shows how things build upon other things.
