In MobileViews 6136, Jon Westfall and I tackled the increasingly complex world of AI ecosystems. I shared my early impressions of Google Labs' "Dream Beans," an interesting daily briefing tool that uses AI to generate an illustrated summary of topics it thinks you'll find interesting based on your activity. While the illustrations are very nice looking and the content relevant, the app is currently very phone-centric, lacking the landscape orientation optimization I'd expect for a tablet experience. I also noted that Google AI Pro remains a solid value for me at $20 a month. A major portion of the episode was dedicated to my "credit crunch" rant regarding Microsoft Copilot. I discovered that Microsoft's 365 family plan only provides 60 AI credits per month, and the "intentional use" policy is aggressive. According to Copilot itself, credits can be consumed simply by opening the app, syncing handwriting from an e-ink tablet to OneNote, or even having the AI suggest a grammar fix you don't actually use. This led me to explore Obsidian as a OneNote alternative, as it offers free handwriting plugins without the credit overhead. Jon suggested a sustainable path forward: using AI to build offline scripts or tools that perform data manipulation locally to avoid recurring token costs. We also looked at the hardware horizon, specifically Microsoft's announcement of Project Solera—AI-powered badges and desktop displays—and the new Nvidia RTX Spark PCs,. These machines are purpose-built for local AI, boasting a petaflop of performance to run personal agents offline. Finally, with Apple WWDC just around the corner, we shared our hopes for the long-promised "personal context" updates to Siri. Jon is also eagerly awaiting his pre-ordered Clicks communicator and keyboard, while I continue to hold out hope for a MacBook Neo with a backlit keyboard and a desktop Mac Neo. Whether it's navigating "vibe coding" loops or managing AI budgets, it's clear that the "magic math" of the AI industry is starting to meet the reality of the bean counters.
How can Microsoft Loop make your team more productive? Richard chats with Karinne Bessette about the role that Loop components can play in making meetings where the agenda is live, generating work items in Microsoft Planner, and keeping key information up to date. Karinne talks about how Loop components can be connected to any M365 document, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and OneNote, but only for members of the M365 tenant. In this episode, we dig into Cowork Skills and why they represent a genuine shift from “AI as a novelty” to “AI as part of how work actually gets done.” Not more prompts. Not more tools. But fewer decisions, less friction, and more consistency across the business. If you've ever thought “Copilot is interesting, but it's not really embedded yet”, this episode is for you. You weren't meant to lead kids ministry alone — and this episode is your wake-up call to stop trying. In Part 2 of our "Tools for Kids Ministry Leaders" series, Tom, Cole, Ben, and Vickie get real about the tools that aren't apps or calendars — they're people. If you caught Part 1 (featuring the legendary Jim Wideman), you already know the power of systems and AI. Now we're going deeper into the human side of leading well. The conversation kicks off with Ben sharing what he's learned at his new church — a place where volunteers don't just show up, they own their roles. The team unpacks why so many leaders fall into the trap of believing "nobody wants to help," and Tom delivers a passionate challenge: stop saying no for people before you even ask them. Cast the vision, make the invite specific, and watch what God does. From there, Vickie breaks down her coaching philosophy — why every ministry, regardless of size, needs leaders of leaders. Whether you call them coaches, team leads, or area leads, these higher-capacity volunteers are the key to multiplying your impact without multiplying your exhaustion. The crew also gets personal about burnout, sharing how finding mentors and coaches transformed their ministries and extended their longevity. Ben talks about Dan, his longtime sounding board. Tom opens up about nearly burning out 15 years in. And the team offers practical advice on what to look for when hiring or choosing a coach — credentials, experience, and a heart for developing others, not just giving advice. Finally, they round out with systems — Planning Center, Google Drive, OneNote, voice memos, email folders, and even AI tools that help you work smarter so you can be more relational. If your to-do list is 47 items long, your Slack won't shut up, and you ended the day thinking, "Cool… but what did I actually accomplish?"—welcome. You're among friends. In this episode, Kim and Kate take on the very real, very unsexy side of project management: figuring out how to manage your own work when everything (and everyone) is demanding your attention. This isn't about finding the perfect tool or building a prettier dashboard. It's about surviving—and actually functioning—in an interrupt-driven world where emails breed overnight, notifications multiply, and every task somehow feels urgent. They get into what actually works: setting a North Star for your week (yes, only a few priorities), getting tasks out of your brain before they haunt you at 10 PM, and why some tasks are secretly just traps that create even more work (looking at you, boomerang tasks). Also: a gentle reality check—you're not supposed to do everything. Grab a drink, ignore your inbox for a bit, and let's figure out how to organize the chaos without losing your mind.
Pilot Pete and Dave open Episode 1140 with a rapid-fire round of quick tips you’ll wish you’d known sooner: long-press the App Store icon to jump straight to Updates, long-press a folder to break down its notifications, push iOS updates to your iPhone through your Mac, and delete apps before they auto-update. You’ll also discover that iPad status bar elements respond to mouse clicks, that not every airline demands a passport scan for TSA Touchless, and where to grab a free customizable QR code generator. Then Javier drops by the Don’t Get Caught segment with a warning: run a beta macOS on your daily driver only with your eyes wide open to what could break. In the mailbag, you’ll troubleshoot a Notes folder that keeps un-deleting itself, get walked through iCloud Data Recovery, plan a Fastmail migration and a clean EarthLink exit, weigh OneNote and Apple Notes as Evernote alternatives, decode why your copyright date is stuck in the past, and figure out how much life remains in a 2019 MacBook Pro. Angel cues up the question everyone’s asking: what is an MCP server? And Cool Stuff Found delivers right on cue with the new Fastmail MCP Connector, a Keyword Navigation extension for Chromium browsers, and the I Love a Piano app that turns your iPhone into a pocket keyboard. 00:00:00 Mac Geek Gab 1140 for Monday, May 4th, 2026 May 4th: Star Wars Day (and Dave Brubeck Day) MGG Monthly Giveaway – Enter to win a Function101 Apple TV Button Remote Congrats to March's SoundSource winners: Ian, Robert, and Jeff The MGG Merch Store is Live! Compensation models for technical staff in MSPs require careful alignment with business objectives and operational capacity. Both James Kernan and Amy Babinchak emphasized that financial incentives such as commissions or bonuses can be appropriate when technicians are directly responsible for generating additional monthly recurring revenue (MRR) or securing new accounts. However, they noted that proper monitoring tools are essential to track productivity and ensure fairness—without adequate systems, variable compensation based on efficiency or project profitability can introduce operational risk and potential inequities. Supporting this, Amy Babinchak described implementing a tiered productivity incentive where technicians received additional pay for surpassing utilization rates above 80%, but expressed concern over excessive overtime. Both speakers underscored the necessity of clear job role definitions; rewarding sales activities for technical staff may be appropriate if it aligns with broader company goals and does not compromise core technical duties. Non-monetary recognition, such as trophies or gift cards for ticket resolution or utilization, was also mentioned as an effective, low-cost incentive. The episode expanded to analyze current challenges in industry education and vendor-driven events. Citing a survey from the "All Things MSP" group, Amy Babinchak reported that 86% of respondents believe MSP conferences are now allocating too much budget to entertainment at the expense of substantive educational content. Comments from participants indicated skepticism toward vendor-led sessions, noting that paid speaking slots are typically used for product promotion rather than useful training, raising questions about increasing conference costs and the dilution of actionable takeaways. Key operational topics included shifting preferences among AI tools, with both speakers confirming recent moves toward Claude and Copilot, and persistent debate over MSP documentation practices—ranging from ad-hoc tools like OneNote to industry solutions. The discussion concluded with an observation about payment processing costs: James Kernan highlighted a case where $24,000 in annual credit card fees significantly reduced firm profitability, stressing the importance of passing such costs on to customers or utilizing ACH to preserve margins. MSP leaders are encouraged to assess compensation structures, conference participation ROI, and vendor relationships in order to minimize risk, align incentives, and ensure operational resilience. Jon Westfall and I (Todd Ogasawara) covered several major industry updates and rumors this week: Apple's Upcoming Events: We discussed the rumors surrounding the Apple March 4 launch event, including the highly anticipated A18 Pro budget MacBook, which is expected to bring fun colors and a more accessible price point. Google's Latest Offerings: We touched on the Google Gemini Lyria 3 music creation feature. I was able to try it out a couple of times. Additionally, we looked at the news that Google launched a Snapseed camera for iPhone, bringing pro manual controls and retro film effects to iOS. E-Ink Troubleshooting: Boox Note Air5 C I provided an update on the Boox Note Air5 C and a frustrating e-ink lag problem when using Microsoft OneNote. This writing lag is a known issue. The current solution when dealing with OneNote's infinite scrolling is simple but annoying: don't write near the very bottom of the display. Note that this specific issue doesn't seem to happen on the iPad or conventional Android tablets—it is strictly an e-ink quirk. Workplace Feedback, "Vibe Working," and OneNote We moved into a deeper discussion about evaluating work and the ongoing challenges of providing workplace feedback. Jon has been evaluating the work of his peers lately in OneNote, and to say it's not going well would be an understatement. We debated whether the fault lies with the tool itself or the user, leading into a wider conversation about the lack of attention to detail in professional environments. This tied perfectly into the difficulty of giving feedback to coworkers, especially when unreadable formatting or poorly optimized code directly impacts your own workflow. Finding that reasonable middle ground to deliver criticism without causing unnecessary friction remains a constant challenge. We introduced some new terms to frame this phenomenon, comparing Mark Zuckerberg's old "move fast and break things" mantra against the reality that carelessness often speaks directly to competency. We coined phrases like Minimally Viable Product / Deliverable, Vibe Working, and Generation AI to describe these modern workplace dynamics.

You get a firehose of genuinely useful Apple tips this week, starting with new muscle-memory moves you'll actually use: cycling app windows with Cmd + `, nodding or shaking to answer AirPods, dragging apps straight from iOS search, and building Focus-specific home screens so the right icons appear at the right time. Edge Light turns your Mac into a cleaner on‑camera rig, Display Buddy tames external monitor brightness, and custom macOS keyboard shortcuts plus Dock CPU meters give you fast, surgical control over your Mac. Then you level up your living room: master the Apple TV remote's scrub wheel, undo accidental scrubs, jump in precise increments, push video from iPhone to Apple TV, and fling audio to HomePod with a tap. Even Reminders gets a glow‑up so you can punt a pile of alerts in one shot instead of playing whack‑a‑mole. From there, you zoom out to “meta” geekery: backing up critical Notes (or moving to OneNote, Ulysses, or Obsidian), even flirting with a git repo to sync prefs and personal data like a developer. On the road, you learn how to keep CarPlay tappable with gloves, and in the cloud you explore why chatbots forget context, when to bring in tools like Claude, Perplexity's Comet, Atlas, Gemini, or Claude's Chrome extension, and how having an always‑on troubleshooting assistant changes how you work. Listener reviews cap it off by framing the show as a kind of PhD in troubleshooting, all so you can experiment, push your tech harder, and, of course, don't get caught. 00:00:00 Mac Geek Gab 1129 for Monday, February 16th, 2026 February 16th: Innovation Day MGG Monthly Giveaway – Enter to win a Copilot Money! We recorded MobileViews 596 a day early on February 7, 2026, mostly to stay ahead of the weather. I'm currently under a flood watch in Hawaii, while Jon Westfall has been dealing with the aftermath of an ice storm in Mississippi. We spent some time comparing the "quality" of our power outages—I've had five short ones recently, while Jon's neighbors dealt with a single, brutal nine-day stretch. In my retirement, I've started using mechanical keyboards—I have several now. Surprisingly, I broke my first keycaps ever this month on a Royal Kludge board. The stems on the "O" and "3" keys actually cracked. I've been replacing them with a set of Warmier PBT shine-through keycaps, doing about three a day so it doesn't feel like a chore. Jon is still rocking a 15-year-old Apple keyboard, but I'm trying to convince him to try a 75% mechanical layout with a volume knob. We had a discussion about the recent tech stock dip following Anthropic's new Claude plugins. Major players like Microsoft and Oracle saw massive hits, and I can't help but wonder if CEOs are overreacting to AI's current capabilities. I see a parallel to the "Advanced Intelligent Networking" (AIN) of the late 80s. Back then, we were told visual "drag-and-drop" programming would replace coders, but that path failed because non-techies didn't account for error conditions or governance. Jon agreed, noting that while the sky is changing, it isn't necessarily falling, and companies may soon regret the mass layoffs they've justified in the name of AI. My Boox Note Air 5C journey continues. I recently picked up a Staedtler Noris Digital Jumbo stylus. It looks just like a traditional pencil and features a digital eraser on the end. Interestingly, erasing with the physical end of the stylus is actually faster than hitting "undo" on an e-ink screen. My current workflow involves syncing my daily doodles from the native Boox app to OneNote as PDFs, though I'm still struggling with how OneNote for Android handles the mixture of handwriting and text. Jon shared his progress on a mobile "Hyflex" setup for his psychology classes at Delta State. He's using a combination of gear to allow students to participate in-person, synchronously online, or via recording. One software highlight he mentioned is Better Display (the $21 Pro version), which allows for a picture-in-picture view of an extended display. It's a lifesaver when the classroom projector is positioned at an awkward angle behind the presenter. Finally, Jon is planning his hardware roadmap for the year. He's debating between a DIY Linux box for local LLM work, a Unify storage appliance, or waiting for a Mac Mini with an M5 chip. Personally, I'm keeping an eye on the rumor mill for a touchscreen MacBook—I might actually buy one if it ever surfaces.
Industrial water work rewards people who can move between precision and practicality. Katie Holliday brings both. She started as a lab chemist, then transitioned into field service with Apex Water and Process, where much of her work supports healthcare facilities and high-accountability programs. Lab habits that protect your tools and your data Katie describes the first surprise of field work: a central plant is "very dirty," and the job demands good technique without chasing lab-level perfection. She shares a couple of simple practices that prevent expensive problems. Use proper lab wipes on glassware instead of shirts or paper towels, which can scratch surfaces and compromise readings. Keep pH probes wet with the correct storage solution, because once they dry out, they often stop working. Healthcare water: SPD work and Legionella prevention About 90% of Katie's accounts are healthcare. She defines SPD as the sterile processing department and explains why expectations shift compared to boilers and cooling towers. SPD work is cleaner, more controlled, and typically includes additional components such as endotoxin filtration and UV. It also involves more testing and stricter standards that tie directly to patient safety. Alongside SPD, she emphasizes Legionella prevention as a constant priority, from cooling towers (including secondary disinfection) to domestic water, because facilities want to reduce risk to patients. Water chemistry reality check: Phoenix versus "everywhere else" Katie explains how Arizona water changes the operating window. She notes high hardness and high chlorides, which can limit cycles of concentration and force conservative targets compared with places like Atlanta, where Trace describes running much higher cycles. The takeaway for experienced pros is familiar: operating limits are local, and "what good looks like" depends on the incoming water and the constraints that matter most at that site. Mentorship, representation, and field readiness systems Katie shares what it meant to be the first woman account manager hire in a long-running operation, and her advice is practical: recruit intentionally, then train people in the field, not from the sidelines. She credits her mentor, Bernie Peacock, for accelerating her learning curve, and she now passes that on by responding fast, following through, and providing steady backup to newer teammates. She also describes how she built mechanical confidence, using manuals, YouTube, phone video, and a OneNote playbook that captures account contacts, access details, sampling points, and "where things are" notes for clean coverage when someone else is on-site. Ian and Kat are back and talking things they think they are better at than they actually are...both skiing and the Microsoft Office Suite. From concatenating cells in Excel to creating works of art in PowerPoint, we delve into the products that every single person in the corporate world uses every day and where are our gaps are. Ian gives tricks to help fake it until you make it in Excel, Kat may be the world's foremost Word user (at least in her own mind), and they both then brag about flex their PowerPoint and OneNote skills. We then talk about how AI is being integrated into everyday tools, AND even talk about how Microsoft Teams runs on Cisco's collaboration endpoints (have to keep the bosses happy with the product pitch)! What's the one note that can turn a good song into an undeniable one? According to Pusha T and Malice, Pharrell Williams had the answer: “Stick to the pattern.” This clip breaks down the creative discipline, structure, and pattern-based approach that defined Clipse's album and why it felt like solving a Rubik's Cube when it finally clicked. Send us a textIn light of the disturbing and seemingly relentless news surrounding child exploitation, abuse, and trafficking, we are revisiting a powerful and deeply moving conversation that feels more urgent than ever. From high-profile allegations involving public figures to devastating revelations within trusted institutions, the message is clear – this is not isolated, and it is not rare. Statistics show that 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 20 boys experience childhood sexual abuse. Experts believe the real numbers are far higher, as most cases go unreported. The most vulnerable are children between the ages of 7 and 13.Our guest, Kyeni Matee (pronounced Chain-ee), knows this reality firsthand.A professional violinist, youth orchestra teacher, and new author, Kyeni courageously shares her story of abuse that began when she was just seven or eight years old and continued for years. In her book, The Eyes Behind the Violin: Finding My True Identity, she chronicles not only the trauma, but the long road toward healing.Music became her lifeline. Therapy helped her process. Faith anchored her survival. This episode is not easy—but it is necessary.Kyeni's story is one of resilience, truth-telling, and reclaiming identity after it has been stolen. It is also a call to action. We cannot remain silent. If you see something, say something. Teach children to trust their instincts. Protect them. Believe them. This conversation honors survivors—and reminds us why accountability matters.Content Warning: This episode discusses childhood sexual abuse and may be difficult for some listeners.Support Resources This episode discusses childhood sexual abuse and may be difficult for some listeners. If you or someone you love needs support:988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (U.S.) – call or text 988RAINN National Sexual Assault Hotline – 800-656-hopeIf you are outside the U.S., please contact your local crisis or child advocacy center.Support the show https://buymeacoffee.com/agelessglamourgirls www.linkedin.com/in/marqueetacurtishaynes www.agelessglamourgirls.com https://www.shopltk.com/explore/AgelessGlamourGirls https://www.youtube.com/@agelessglamourgirls Instagram @agelessglamourgirls Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/agelessglamourgirls Private (AGG) FB Group: The Ageless Café: https://www.facebook.com/groups/theagelesscafe TikTok: @agelessglamourgirls Podcast Producers: Ageless Glamour Girls and Purple Tulip Media, LLC

On this week's podcast, my co-host Jon Westfall and our buddy Sven Johannsen joined me. We started by discussing the recent trend of journaling apps, including the new Microsoft Journal , which Jon thinks looks like a stripped-down version of OneNote. Jon mentioned he still uses the dedicated Day One app but wished that "on this day" features came with trigger warnings. I also talked about my experience testing OpenAI's new ChatGPT Atlas Browser ; while it's fast , Jon was annoyed because it requires you to set it as the default browser to get extended limits. We also covered the new Samsung Galaxy XR headset , which, like the Vision Pro , is still far too expensive for me at around $1,800. While Apple's new M5 products were announced, none of us are planning an upgrade. I noted that I'm still interested in the rumored future MacBook Pro if it includes a touch screen - something Sven thinks is unnecessary. We also shared our experience with the new Microsoft Copilot Groups ; we used it to prepare for the show, but when we returned the next day, our entire chat history had vanished. Sven showed off a very versatile and affordable Moft Dynamic Folio for his iPad , and Jon detailed his recent home automation upgrades, including a new LNDU smart lock that offers six different ways to unlock , such as an offline, time-based one-time-passcode feature. Finally, Jon about a dancing pickle that Sven saw at Hallmark, does actually sing "I'm sexy and I know it".

The myth says procurement is the holdup. We put that belief under a bright light with Oklahoma's Chief Procurement Officer, Amanda Otis, and trace exactly how a team moves from jungle to clarity—no playbook, tight resources, and high expectations. Amanda shares how a legal mind mapped undocumented processes, separated statutory “musts” from inherited habits, and rebuilt the office around category management so expertise links directly to spend and supplier markets. We get into the nuts and bolts: using PeopleSoft for e-procurement and sourcing without piling on complexity, leaning on AI to distill 500-page documents into crisp briefs (with human review), and adopting OneNote to tame the flood of work that email and spreadsheets couldn't handle. Trust becomes the center of gravity. Amanda explains why fast acknowledgments, reliable follow-through, and monthly “Central Purchasing Listens” sessions turned an “ivory tower” into a responsive service partner. Skeptics on the team weren't ignored; they were invited into experiments with a simple promise—try it, measure it, change it if it fails within six months.Join us for a straight-talking playbook on modern public procurement: category management, transparent metrics, trust-building, and structured innovation that actually ships. With this episode, I'm rolling something out that's a bit different. Maybe you'll like it, maybe not.Like most of you, I do a lot of training, job and daily work activity preparation while holding onto a steering wheel. There is something about the austere environment that the front seat of a truck can provide. I try to use the time as best as I can. Occasionally, it'll be music in the background, but most of the times it's going to be a podcast. Trying to add some mind expansion while commuting. For the past several months, I've been mounting my GoPro with my Hollyland Lark M2 microphone, and when the moment strikes, simply hitting "Record" and riffing. Most of what I'm recording ends up on the proverbial cutting room floor. But, I'm playing around with the combined mediums. I gaining confidence in posting. And I'd like to think that my brain dumps are somewhat interesting, sometimes thought provoking. So many podcast hosts have provided me with knowledge & ideas to incorporate into action items, or to write about, or to just dwell on, trying to tie their experiences & knowledge with mine in my industry. So, I'm going to try to post more of these shorts. We'll see what happens. In this episode, I riff on ideas surrounding "Consistency."How consistent am I being? How purposeful? How disciplined?Am I just talking a good game? Or am I genuinely trying to stay consistent in my daily routines and actions? How am I organize my day? My morning routines? How am I using OneNote? My only family heirloom is my Dad's 1960s stereo console he had at boarding school. As a kid my parents listened to the music of that time and I'll always have a special place for the likes of Barbra Striesand, The Bee Gees, and James Taylor. Around the age of seven a family friend gifted me with a transistor radio and though I had a couple dogs, my best friend became music, and the love affair not only never ended, it continues to flourish. I've always felt music was more than just a mere accoutrement to life but had never dug into any psychological research. Until now. What you are about to hear I feel will elevate your utilization of music to improve your life. Sara Leila Sherman is my guest. Sara is a big name in the New York music scene. She's a distinguished classical musician and a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and has performed at Lincoln Center, Steinway Hall, Yamaha Artist Salon and all the impressive places. But it's her interest in blending music and mindfulness that got my attention. Sara has pioneered innovative approaches that empower educators and parents to use music as a tool for mindful learning and personal growth. Sara is a music lover, from classical to pop. She grew up with a Dad, Mort Sherman, who loved music and ingrained Sara in its glory and power. Together they've written a book, Resonant Minds: The Transformative Power of Music, One Note at a Time. I brought Sara on to help understand why I've felt so much power and resonance in music. One aspect you're about to hear is Sara's research into how music engages all the parts of your brain, so it makes sense that when you feel emotions or have experiences accompanied by intentional music, it makes a bigger impact on you. That info alone was worth the conversation. But we covered…more. https://www.resonantminds.com/ Sign up for your $1/month trial period at shopify.com/kevin Go to shipstation.com and use code KEVIN to start your free trial. Still, there are frequent stories of drugs that go wrong. They either don't work or they turn out to cause harm or even death. Isn't the FDA supposed to make sure that doesn't happen? How do bad drugs get approved? Is the process broken? Here to offer some great insight into this is Jerry Avorn, MD. Who is also a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. He created a leading research center at Harvard to study medication use, outcomes, costs, and policies and has written hundreds of papers that have appeared in medical literature as well as opinion pieces in The New York Times and The Washington Post.
