Well, we've got ourselves another Mo-Mo incident in Times Square...Needlessly picking up right from the smoldering wreckage of Liv freeing herself from her captor William Lewis by way of bludgeoning her captor with an iron bar, we get a stark ripped-from-the-headlines episode delving into the infamous Ariel Castro case. Kidnapping victims are held in cages in the basement and raped for decades, and Liv's PTSD is still very real. This episode dwells in darkness. That doesn't mean the Munchie Boys have to, though, as the discussion veers into off-brand Muppets knockoffs, the ineptitude of the Cleveland Police Department, where Cassidy ranks on Benson's loves of her life, and the hazards of dialogue directed at people named “Buddy” reading in different ways.Sources:How Ariel Castro Remained at Liberty in Cleveland All These Years - Michael Daly, The Daily BeastMichelle Knight's ‘normal teenage life,' plagued by troubles in years before disappearance - Leila Atassi, Cleveland Plain DealerPsychic on The Montel Williams Show said Amanda Berry was dead. Welcome into the Smoke Circle for the start of season 8! The sisters have cooked up another episode of food history with part two of The Munchies That Made Us! In part one, we discussed four food staples that grew civilizations and created the classic munchies we know and love. Part two traces the origins of "The Holy Trinity" of savory stoner foods: pizza, tacos, and instant ramen. This episode shows how global trade, migration, war, and convenience shaped what we eat when the munchies hit. Along the way, we debate who has the best pizza, get delightfully sidetracked by tomato lore (did you know the tomato isn't native to Italy?!), the mystery of the taco, and what a hostage crisis did for instant ramen sales. ~~~~~~*Timestamps 01:05 - Part two preview: pizza, tacos, and instant ramen 06:31 - Recap of part one and the role of staple crops 07:30 - Why pizza belongs on every munchies list 09:58 - Focaccia, flatbreads, and the missing tomato 12:39 - Tomatoes begin in Mesoamerica, not Italy 15:03 - Columbus, Cortés, and the Columbian Exchange 19:26 - Europe mistrusts tomatoes as “wolf peaches” 27:28 - Naples, volcanic soil, and the first tomato sauce pizza 30:07 - The Margherita pizza legend and royal branding 32:24 - Pizza spreads through Italy and into the United States 38:35 - What counts as a taco and why chalupas are real 40:05 - Corn tortillas in Mesoamerica and the roots of taco culture 42:40 - One theory for the word taco from silver mines 46:37 - The “chili queens” and tacos entering American food culture 49:52 - Glenn Bell, Taco Bell, and the commercialization of tacos 54:10 - Instant ramen as one of the world's most consumed foods 56:10 - Japan closes its doors, then reopens under the Meiji Restoration 58:00 - Chinese noodle soup becomes ramen in Yokohama 59:48 - World War II destruction and the food crisis in Japan 64:28 - Momofuku Ando spots the long ramen line that sparks an idea 66:26 - The invention of shelf-stable instant noodles and the launch of Chicken Ramen 70:31 - Cup noodles and the push into the American market 73:52 - The hostage crisis accidentally becomes a massive ramen commercial 78:40 - The Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum and ramen culture today 81:12 - Why convenience foods matter and what they trade off~~~~~*Mentioned in the Episode:Episode 90: The Werewolf Trials of Europe Half Baked (1998) Munchies List~~~~~*The Socials and Patreon!Patreon-- The Best Buds Club! Have you ever wondered what would happen if Stabler ruined his marriage to bust up a cabal of international monkey smugglers? This week, we learn the answer to that question as we also see what happens when legendary rappers are eaten by hyenas, and bald bosses are hugged by sweet gibbons. This was a Munchies' Choice and boy oh boy did it not disappoint. There might not be an SVU case here, but we are not complaining.Sources:Ming Of Harlem - WikipediaFarmer Killed By Lion Forgot To Lock Cage - UPIMusic:Divorcio Suave - “Munchy Business”Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Tony B, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Brian B, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Erin M, Melissa H, Olivia, Holly F, Karina H, Zak B, Summer S, Matt, Elyse R, Julia K, Los C, Katrina S, Samuel K, Bryan C, and Shannon H - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! When last week's episode ended with Olivia Benson being taken captive by über-psychopath William Lewis, we knew that we'd be going deep into the darkest hour of SVU's storied run this week. This is 43 full minutes of torture porn so bleak and visceral that it's honestly shocking it aired on network television. Please prepare yourself for how messed up this episode is. Thankfully, Josh and Adam munch it up by talking about a diverse range of European arthouse classics you wouldn't want to bring a date to, our coffeeshop orders, and whether or not Pizza Man exists within the Fur Humper Cinematic Universe. Oh, and lest we forget, Adam has an outlandishly bold theory which just might change the way you look at Olivia Benson forever. When SVU dips its toes in the waters of cutting edge technology, things tend to age like fine milk. What happens when NYPD's Special Victims Unit faces a suspect who would be more at home on Pretty Little Liars than in a world hewing closer to reality? The Munchie Boys found out the answer to that question this week while they endured an exasperating episode that found them trying to talk about anything other than this dreadful SVU. Why can Chris Diamantopolous do absolutely everything with computers? Because a supervillain from a comic book swooped into this world, pissing in the cereal of everyone subjected to this episode.Sorry about the extreme tardiness of this episode dropping. Life really conspired to get in the way of me editing this one. - JOSHMusic:Divorcio Suave - “Munchy Business”Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Tony B, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Brian B, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Erin M, Melissa H, Olivia, Holly F, Karina H, Zak B, Summer S, Matt, Elyse R, Julia K, Los C, Katrina S, Samuel K, Bryan C, and Shannon H - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! Apparently everyone needed to wallow in the darkness of the William Lewis Saga again, this time starting at the beginning...The Randomizer decided that everyone needed to wallow in the darkness of the William Lewis Saga again, this time starting at the beginning with “Her Negotiation,” the season finale of Season 14 complete with cliffhanger leaving our hero Olivia Benson in a very dark place. This obviously means the Munchie Boys have to deal with fur-humping, Plein Air Painters, the life's work of Frederick Law Olmstead, and the shooting star that was Matt Harvey's early baseball career. Oh, and a pastiche serial killer drawing from some of the darkest imaginable sources.Sources:Ace of Base's Secret Nazi Past - Benjamin Shapiro, Noisey at ViceMusic:Divorcio Suave - “Munchy Business”Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Tony B, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Brian B, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Erin M, Melissa H, Olivia, Holly F, Karina H, Zak B, Summer S, Matt, Elyse R, Julia K, Los C, Katrina S, Samuel K, Bryan C, and Shannon H - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! When a flash-mob smash-and-grab robbery leads to a violent rape, the woke mind virus nearly derails what should be a cut-and-dry case. This preposterous episode features anti-vanism, brother-of-sister shaming, a LOT of hygienic liner talk, a police precinct overrun by social media mad teens, and a "having a Cameroonian brother means I can't ID my rapist" defense. Ever wonder what would happen when Benson, Stabler, and the Unit get tangled up in an investigation that sends them looking into the Gulf Cartel, the FBI, Los Zetas, the CIA, and Cuban revolutionaries? Well, wonder no longer because this time around we are diving in to Season 11, Episode 6 "Spooked" featuring Vincent Spano reprising the role of FBI Special Agent Dean Porter. It starts with the SVU version of the Wet Bandits finding a pair of staged corpses with a rape tree and some stolen implants in the back of a box truck and just gets stranger from there. It may not make sense, but “Spooked” is a helluva nonsensical fever dream.Sources:Gulf Cartel - WikipediaInside Mexico's ‘Holy Death' Cult - by Evgeny Lebedev, GQ, August 31, 2020Music:Divorcio Suave - “Munchy Business”Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Tony B, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Brian B, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Erin M, Melissa H, Olivia, Holly F, Karina H, Zak B, Karyn R, Summer S, Matt, Elyse R, Julia K, Los C, Katrina S, Samuel K, Bryan C, and Shannon H - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! Fine dining is hell, apparently. If you don't believe The Bear, I guess you could turn to this SVU for further evidence, but that might be giving it more credit than it's due. Here, we watch as Not Gordon Ramsey throws temper tantrums in his terribly named fine dining effort, pushing questionably sourced prawns, screaming at his runners, and sexually assaulting his waitstaff. This guy is a real a-hole, but he keeps shaking the charges, which leads the Unit to working with--or is it against--the Brooklyn ADA who really dug Stone's pickoff move. One look at which season this one comes from should tell you everything you need to know. He promises to keep everyone updated and reveal the answer on next week's episode. The fun continues with another round of **Guess This Disney Character**. This time, Remy made the game even easier for Mike, hoping for a perfect score. Despite the simpler clues, Mike still managed to finish with a **B grade**, leading to plenty of laughs and friendly competition between the two hosts.During the **Latest Theme Park Updates**, the hosts discuss Universal Orlando Resort's announcement of **Universal Nights**, an all-new, limited-capacity after-hours event coming to **Epic Universe** this October. Send us Fan MailSony's decision to end physical PlayStation game releases in 2028 is sending shockwaves through the gaming industry—and retailers are beginning to fight back. Video Games Plus has published an open letter urging Xbox to make physical media part of Project Helix, giving Microsoft a rare opportunity to reverse the embarrassment of its 2013 Xbox One reveal and position itself as the console that still supports consumer choice. We also examine why European regulators say they cannot force Sony to continue manufacturing discs, how an all-digital PlayStation ecosystem could create new antitrust problems, and why eliminating physical games affects far more than collectors. Used-game pricing, lending, preservation, independent retailers and competition with the PlayStation Store could all disappear with the disc.Gaming Gone Wild features four unbelievable stories: a suspected burglar allegedly targeting two Santa Fe game stores, the tragic death of a Tennessee mother who traveled to meet someone connected through online gaming, a man arrested months after allegedly shooting his neighbor eight times following a stolen PlayStation 5 dispute, and 15 young people taken into custody after a social-media trend encouraged break-ins at Urban Air locations.Dude, I Got the Munchies includes Costco Mini Croissant Donuts, Blue Bell Chocolate Lava Cake Ice Cream, Dolly Parton Cookies 'N Custard desserts, the return of Ore-Ida Crispers, Pringles can-sized flavored hot dog buns and Reese's Pieces with a new chocolate-cookie center. Our Game of the Week is Ascend to ZERO, the fast-paced, time-bending action roguelike from Flyway Games and KRAFTON. We break down its 30-second survival loop, time-freezing combat and wildly escalating RPG progression before closing the show with another round of Choose Your Fate.Support the show

On this week's episode of **Remy's Roundtable: The Florida Theme Park Podcast**, Remy and Mike kick things off with a personal update as Remy shares the story of his recent car accident. Thankfully, Remy walked away without injuries, but his car wasn't as fortunate. The good news? If everything goes according to plan, Remy expects to be driving a brand-new car by next week's episode! The fun continues as Remy challenges Mike to another round of **Guess This Disney Character**. Despite getting some of the easiest clues imaginable, Mike somehow manages to miss several iconic Disney characters, leading to plenty of laughs and friendly trash talk.During **The Latest Theme Park Updates**, the duo covers ongoing construction projects around Disney parks, exciting developments at Universal's Epic Universe, and a brand-new ice cream flavor inspired by **The Oak & Star Tavern**, where Remy works. They also discuss the exciting news that the **Orlando Magic** have welcomed back fan favorite Nikola "Vooch" Vucevic. For **Ride of the Week**, Remy takes listeners on a nostalgic journey back to one of Disney's classic attractions, **Delta Dreamflight**, exploring its history, fun facts, and why it remains a beloved piece of Disney nostalgia. To wrap up the show, it's time for **Mike's Munchies** as Mike brings Remy to **Chef Mickey's** at Disney's Contemporary Resort. Sometimes an SVU really does the racism. Then there's S7E6 Raw, which for an unfathomable 20:51 unfurls bigotry at an astonishing rate--an average of once every 23 seconds. And it doesn't even start until past the 16-minute mark. They pack so much hate into this episode that it left Adam and Josh dumbfounded. We've also got Marcia Gay Harden back which means: a) bodies will drop, b) Stabler will get hurt, and c) maximum Foghorn Leghorning. This episode does the racism with such reckless abandon that you'd be hard-pressed to come up with an episode of television (network or cable, frankly) that did it more. Hold onto your butts, everyone. While we felt like the title of SVU Season 8 Episode 22 "Screwed" was a little on the nose, it did provide ample ground for the usual Munchie business. Fin and the Unit get sucked into a rap beef that wouldn't put Kendrick Lamar and Drake to shame. As apparently has to be the case, Fin knows one of the rappers in question, going way back to his childhood with "Snake" Anderson. SVU brings in a big gun in Snoop Dogg and recognizable other talent of color in Orlando Jones and Amber Stevens West, but this is Season 20 SVU, so hoping that any of these three actors' talent was put to good use would be foolish. Little makes sense in this week's episode, and Fin probably commits a felony. But this is essentially the gas leak season of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, so we're probably all meant to just move along as though nothing happened.Music:Divorcio Suave - “Munchy Business”Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Tony B, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Erin M, Melissa H, Olivia, Holly F, Karina H, Zak B, Karyn R, Summer S, Matt, Elyse R, Julia K, Los C, and Katrina S - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! Join **Remy, Mike, and Nicole** for another packed episode of **Remy's Round-Table: The Florida Theme Park Podcast!**The show kicks off with Remy and Mike stepping away from the theme parks for a moment to discuss some of the biggest and most exciting **video game announcements** heading to gaming platforms in the future. From the long-awaited return of Fable, to the revival of the arcade classic Crazy Taxi, and a newly announced remastered version of Halo, the crew shares their thoughts on which upcoming titles have them the most excited and whether these legendary franchises can live up to the hype. Then it's time for **Would You Rather**, where the Roundtable faces a delicious challenge! This week's edition focuses entirely on **Florida theme park resort restaurants**. Would you choose signature dining over quick service? Character dining over fine dining? The crew debates some tough food matchups and reveals which resort restaurants they'd choose if they could only visit one.During **The Latest Theme Park Updates**, the team dives into the latest construction news from across Florida's major theme parks. From new attractions taking shape and ongoing land expansions to refurbishment projects and future developments, there's plenty to discuss as crews continue working behind the scenes to transform the parks for years to come. If you love construction walls, permits, ride rumors, and project updates, this segment is for you!Next, Remy fires up the time machine for **Ride of the Week** and takes everyone back to **World of Motion** at **EPCOT**. Before **Test Track** occupied the pavilion, World of Motion entertained guests with a humorous journey through the history of transportation. The crew discusses the attraction's legacy, memorable scenes, and the impressive fact that the pavilion reportedly cost around **$150 million** to develop during the 1980s. Was World of Motion one of EPCOT's greatest lost attractions, or does nostalgia make it seem better than it really was? Finally, it's time for another edition of **Mike's Munchies!** Mike takes Remy and Nicole over to **Topolino's Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera** at **Disney's Riviera Resort**. Known for its upscale atmosphere, rooftop views, and gourmet menu, Topolino's has become one of Walt Disney World's most talked-about dining locations. But great food often comes with a hefty price tag, and Mike's meal total comes in at an eye-popping **$193**! The crew breaks down everything he ordered, discusses whether the experience justified the cost, and debates an important question: **Is a signature resort restaurant worth the extra money, or are you better off spending your dining budget inside the parks?**All of that, plus laughs, opinions, theme park nostalgia, gaming talk, and plenty of food discussion, on this week's episode of **Remy's Round-Table: The Florida Theme Park Podcast!**
If you were expecting a nuanced take on the damage that prisons cause to those inside coming from in "Escape" (S5E11), you might be disappointed. In this SVU, two cons (Stephen Lang and Michael K. Williams) buy their way out of the joint, galavant around the town in drag, and take Olivia Benson to the Jersey Shore. We meet one of Liv's former paramours, decide whether or not unfortunate early '00s fashion choices were the result of America's imperialist adventures overseas, and listen as Adam summons an ancient one.Music:Divorcio Suave - “Munchy Business”Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Tony B, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Erin M, Melissa H, Olivia, Holly F, Karina H, Zak B, Karyn R, Summer S, Matt, and Elyse R - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! The Roundtable is back with another fun-filled episode, and this week the crew welcomes back the one and only **Foodie King, King Mike!** After spending time away, Mike returns to the show alongside **Remy** and **Ryan** for an episode packed with travel stories, theme park news, resort debates, coaster talk, and, of course, incredible food.We kick things off by catching up with Mike as he shares all the details from his unforgettable trip to Italy for his brother's wedding. Mike talks about the beautiful scenery, the wedding festivities, and the amazing Italian cuisine he experienced during his travels. From authentic pasta dishes and fresh ingredients to traditional desserts and local specialties, Mike gives the Roundtable an inside look at what it was like eating his way through one of the world's most famous culinary destinations.Next, Mike and Ryan face off in another entertaining edition of **Would You Rather?** This time, the discussion centers around Florida theme park resorts. If you could only stay at one resort, which would you choose? The duo debates deluxe resorts, moderate resorts, and fan-favorite destinations while explaining what makes each resort special. From incredible pools and dining options to transportation and atmosphere, the guys put their vacation-planning skills to the test.During **The Latest Theme Park Updates**, Remy breaks down the recently announced refurbishment plans for the iconic **Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress** at **Magic Kingdom**. The crew discusses the attraction's long history, its significance to Disney fans, and what guests can expect as the classic Tomorrowland attraction prepares for a major refurbishment. When the son of an influential right winger is found beaten to death and drenched in semen, red herrings abound until we learn the shocking truth. That truth is that the munchies are in the throes of a full on Cassidissance. Our boy mayhem keeps his head throughout this season 1 attempt to tackle the time honored debate as to whether a criminal's nature causes them to commit heinous acts, or whether the terrible environment they were nurtured in is more to blame. I'm not sure the philosophy works, but theres plenty of fun to be had nonetheless.Music:Divorcio Suave - “Munchy Business”Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Tony B, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Erin M, Melissa H, Olivia, Holly F, Karina H, Zak B, Karyn R, Summer S, Matt, and Elyse R - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! On this week's Munch My Benson, we wonder openly if the world would be a better place if the two leading actors from a certain 1985 Peace Corps comedy had a little less chemistry. While we certainly do break down this Season 12 stinker ("Delinquent") from the dark days just before Meloni left SVU, we go hard on the digressions in this one folks, so get ready for the only SVU podcast brave enough to incorporate Dolph Lundgren's Japanese bonafides, Finnish art house darling Aki Kaurismäki, and radical fecal gymnastics in a single episode.Music:Divorcio Suave - “Munchy Business”Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Tony B, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Erin M, Melissa H, Olivia, Holly F, Karina H, Zak B, Karyn R, Summer S, Matt, and Elyse R - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! Today's guest is Farideh Sadeghin. Farideh is a chef, recipe developer, video host, and food writer based in New York City. She's been the test kitchen director at Saveur and was executive culinary director at Vice's Munchies. Her first cookbook, “The Hot Dog Cookbook: 50 Recipes for the World's Best Food,” was recently released and is full of classic, international, and original takes on her favorite food. Farideh joins host Jessie Sheehan to talk about growing up in an Iranian-Italian household, how cooking became her path after college, what she learned working in restaurants in New Zealand, and how a chicken liver pâté recipe led her to Saveur. They also dive into “The Hot Dog Cookbook,” and Farideh walks us through her Klobásník recipe—a savory pastry with a yeasted dough traditionally wrapped around sausage. It's similar to a kolache and was adapted by Czech immigrants who settled in Texas. Farideh makes hers with hot dogs, Cheddar, and jalapeño. In yet another hysterical installment from this show, a young woman has the temerity to venture to the big city from her idyllic suburban life and immediately pays the price for that transgression. This being Law & Order: SVU, that price makes her a special victim. Here, a topsharking for hire--don't worry, we didn't know what that meant either--goes sideways real fast because Warren Leight's New York is teeming with monsters, and that's especially true at Wild Yaks shows. Don't worry, though, because Connecticutians do not get off scot-free here. The Big Apple may be scary, but the Constitution State is rotten to the core.Music:Divorcio Suave - “Munchy Business”Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Tony B, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Erin M, Melissa H, Olivia, Holly F, Karina H, Zak B, Karyn R, Summer S, Matt, and Elyse R - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! The Munchie Boys tackled a tough one this week, as Stabler is forced to investigate the murder of an admittedly odious perp he'd locked up previously. If ever there were an episode that wallowed in the "you can't choose your victims" edict, it's this one. "Victims" also has some pretty big names in it to go along with some pretty rough pre-9/11 fashion and a Guardian Angels storyline that gives Adam a bit to talk about.Music:Divorcio Suave - “Munchy Business”Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Tony B, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Erin M, Melissa H, Olivia, Holly F, Karina H, Zak B, Karyn R, Summer S, Matt, and Elyse R - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! For our first ever Season 27 episode of SVU, we caught a fun ripped-from-the-headlines story that manages to do the impossible. This tale of a serial doula-duper whose escalating fraud eventually lands her in the lap of our heroes has a twist I never saw coming. Michele Fazekas and her writing room have managed to make Olivia Benson seem fresh and interesting. It's good stuff and leaves me optimistic about the direction the show is headed.Sources:Brantford Doula Defrauder Gets Prison For Breaching Probation - The Brantford ExpositorThe Con: Kaitlyn's Baby - CBC PodcastsMusic:Divorcio Suave - “Munchy Business”Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Tony B, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Erin M, Melissa H, Olivia, Holly F, Karina H, Zak B, Karyn R, Summer S, and Matt - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! What happens when an accent choice derails an SVU where the initial crime is wrapped up in an open-and-shut murder at minute 19 and becomes a bizarre cold-case-cum-morality-play sans benefit of flashback? Well, the Randomizer selected “Persona” (Season 10, Episode 8), so Adam and Josh found out the hard way. For far from the first time in the run of Munch My Benson, a foreign-born actor plays fast and loose with a wavering accent. This time, the offender was two-time Oscar-nominee Brenda Blethyn, whose presence pulls a certain big gun down from the bench to settle a 34-year-old score. Along the way, the question as to whether this feminist text passes the Bechdel test, the greater concerns raised by Liv's proclivity towards inappropriate actions, an exploration of just what “vile thing” meant in 1974-speak, and an alternate reality in which Benson DuBois chases down perps are all discussed.Music:Divorcio Suave - “Munchy Business”Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Diana R, Tony B, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Rebecca B, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Erin M, Melissa H, Olivia, Holly F, Karina H, Zak B, Karyn R, Summer S, and Matt - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! With the Unit and Liv in some serious transitional waters, IAB Lieutenant Ed Tucker comes in and muddies those waters up something fierce as he draws Liv's new roommate/boyfriend Brian Cassidy into an undercover sting for the Rat Squad to earn him a gold star and re-entry to the hallowed halls of the proper NYPD. Of course, this being the Warren Leight years, Benson and her relationship are put through the ringer, as the 12th Precinct is as dirty as it gets and Cassidy gets caught up in some pretty dicey stuff with a scuzzy cop and his sad and desperate partner. There's plenty of fun to be had, as Cassidy has too many T-shirts, can't dodge a sordid sexual situation with Liv listening to the whole thing, and nearly gets killed before having his special lady friend tell him to shut his yap while cuddling.Music:Divorcio Suave - “Munchy Business”Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Diana R, Tony B, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Rebecca B, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Erin M, Melissa H, Olivia, Holly F, Karina H, Zak B, Karyn R, Summer S, and Matt - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! This week the Munchie boys watched “Counselor, It's Chinatown” (S21E7) a wildly inappropriate Law and Order: SVU which has Josh and Adam careen from such wildly disparate topics as: Is noted scumbag Chris D'Elia is a cardigan guy? Which professions suffered most during the Chinese Cultural Revolution? And, does the NYPD have an undercover dog requisition service? We'll rub and tug our way to the bottom of these and many, many more questions. Sadly, due to climate change, there is a lot of Max on this one.Sources:Massage Parlors with 'Happy Endings' Give These Sex Workers a Decent Living by Hallie Lieberman - ViceExodus Road Denies Allegations of Sexual, Financial Misconduct by Heidi Beedle - Colorado Springs IndyMusic:Divorcio Suave - “Munchy Business”Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Diana R, Tony B, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Rebecca B, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Erin M, Melissa H, Olivia, Holly F, Karina H, Zak B, Karyn R, Summer S, and Matt - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too!
