This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. Rowland Hall is an independent school in Salt Lake City that blends rigorous academics with hands-on learning and community engagement, helping students grow into curious, creative and impactful leaders. Director of Belonging, Equity and Impact, Chandani Patel, joins us with more. Chandani Patel: At Rowland Hall, we believe that meaningful learning extends beyond the classroom and into our community. That belief is why we created the Center for Community Impact, a place where students, faculty and community partners come together to address real challenges. Through action projects, outreach initiatives and collaborative research, our students develop not only skills, but empathy and a lifelong commitment to positive social change. This Spring, we hosted our annual Impact Summit, where high school students, educators and community leaders came together to celebrate a year of meaningful work and to look ahead. We're actively looking for local organizations, businesses, nonprofits and community leaders navigating challenges who want to partner with Rowland Hall students to find impactful solutions. If that sounds like something you'd want to be part of, we'd love to connect. You can learn more at rowlandhall.org. Derek Miller: By investing in student growth and education, Rowland Hall is helping shape Utah's youth into future leaders of our communities. They are building a more engaged, thoughtful and capable generation that is making a difference throughout the state. I'm Derek Miller, with the Salt Lake Chamber, Speaking on Business. She first became a volunteer in 2012 after seeking to connect with others who have psoriatic disease during a Walk event. She remembers meeting an inspirational group of volunteers. Wanting to learn more about her disease she attended More Than Skin Deep and Be Joint Smart events and served as a moderator. Continuing her path of involvement she attended Volunteer Conferences in Chicago and San Francisco. In 2016 she attended her first Capitol Hill Day followed by the FDA Patient Focused Drug Development (PFDD) meeting. Her involvement was so profound she remains an active advocate promoting research and legislation to enhance access to treatments and health care services. Jody has been so successful in promoting awareness about psoriatic disease, she was awarded the NPF Volunteer Innovator Award in 2017. In 2025 she was also named as the New England Soiree Psoriatic Ambassador Honoree for her impactful service and tireless advocacy. In her words, "I volunteer because it gives me some control over what often feels like a completely uncontrollable disease. It allows me to have a say in what is happening with my life and my disease, which I didn't have before. I also volunteer so that others don't have to go through the same long and difficult journey to diagnosis and treatment that I did." Kathryn & Ben Rifenbark discovered the NPF after many challenges with finding the right diagnosis for Ben's psoriasis. Through a local NPF Take ACTION event Ben quickly learned he wasn't alone in living with his disease, while Mom, Kathryn, gained as much information as she could. After the event, they soon became part of the NPF community with Ben serving as the 2024 Take ACTION Ambassador and a leading peer-to-peer fundraiser. He shared his story and a motivational message at last year's Take ACTION event to help encourage others to support the mission of the NPF. Ben is also an IMPACT Ambassador learning how to advocate for himself and has participated in the IMPACT Summit representing the amazing youth who are part of our NPF Community. Kathryn is now a mentor sharing what she's learned with other parents. Resources: Volunteer Spotlight: Jody Quinn May 1, 2025 Ambassador, Advocate and Mentor Advance Online December 11, 2025. Artificial intelligence is concentrating power, profits and infrastructure in the hands of a few. Mistral AI's co-founder and CEO Arthur Mensch stands for dismantling it. In this episode Mensch talks to ET’s tech editor Surabhi Agarwal about why excessive US dominance in AI creates economic and geopolitical imbalance, and how open-weight models, sovereign cloud partnerships and efficient computers can redistribute innovation. He argues that AI must function like public infrastructure, competitive, accessible and locally controlled, not a gated utility. As AI agents begin to outnumber humans 80 to one, who's truly accountable when things go wrong? In this episode, Host Suraksha P talks to Palo Alto Networks CEO Nikesh Arora about the noise on what securing an agentic future actually demands from mandatory agent registries to real-time breach detection that must outpace an eight-minute attack window. He challenges India to pursue a hybrid sovereign AI strategy, warns that AI companies are racing ahead without reckoning with consequences, and offers entrepreneurs a sharp directive: stop building features, start solving problems. Attorney General Pam Bondi has been the most loyal stooge out of Donald Trump's entire cabinet. She's also been his biggest failure. So far, everything that Bondi has done (on Trump's orders) has failed in the most hilarious ways imaginable, and those failures are going to become a point of contention for her and Trump if she continues to screw up. The latest disaster is her handling of the James Comey indictment that is about to be completely dismissed.Donald Trump has decided to try out his "sales pitch" for American voters on how he can help their economic struggles, and it isn't one that's going to leave anyone feeling better about their finances. At the McDonald's Impact Summit this week, Trump talked about affordability but only by saying that voters were "lucky" that he won the election instead of Kamala Harris. He then tried to pin all of the economic pain being felt today on Biden and Harris, something that voters are not buying for a second. Two months ago the media was tripping over itself to tell us that the Left is overly violent and vicious, and that we needed to tone down the rhetoric (even though statistics proved the exact opposite.) Those same media outlets are completely silent right now as Donald Trump's rabid base threatens the life of Marjorie Taylor Greene following a weekend of Trump calling her a "traitor" and other inflammatory names. Greene is garbage, there's no question about that, but the MAGA lunatics that are threatening her are even worse. The Trump administration is now testing out a new talking point for Americans who are struggling to afford basic necessities: Blame immigrants. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent launched the new talking point this week during an appearance on Fox News, where he falsely claimed that some of the high prices we're seeing right now are because of immigrants. The truth is that Trump's tariffs are the main driver of higher prices, and the LACK of migrant labor is also driving prices even higher than usual. Donald Trump made a shocking admission to reporters recently, saying that he had "no idea" why his doctors made him undergo an MRI. The obvious conclusion based on Trump's statement is that he's absolutely lying and he knows EXACTLY what they were looking for. But if we take his statement at face value then we have to assume that he's suffering from serious health problems that could be so bad that his doctors are afraid to tell him what's happening. There's also a third possibility that actually makes even more sense.Text and and let us know your thoughts on today's stories!Subscribe to our YouTube channel to stay up to date on all of Farron's content: https://www.youtube.com/FarronBalancedFollow Farron on social media! President Trump speaks live at the McDonald's Impact Summit, making the case for bringing American businesses back to America — and Joe Pags weighs in on Trump openly admitting he “blew his stack” earlier in the day while demanding better trade deals. Then, major legal news: SCOTUS agrees to review the legality of asylum claims, and Pags says good — because not everyone crossing the border should automatically qualify for asylum. Finally, Eric Trump joins Joe for an in-depth, candid conversation between longtime friends. Eric shuts down the narrative that “MAGA is dead,” insisting it's “stronger than it's ever been.” He talks about bad actors trying to divide the movement, why patriotism is surging again, and the wins the media won't acknowledge. He also takes aim at “The View” and the guests who fall for its traps. It's honest, bold, and one of the most energized Eric Trump interviews yet. Learn more about your ad choices. Hey, it's Annemarie, hope you are keeping well. It's been some time since I released a podcast episode. It's been a very eventful year and I've been supporting my husband after he was diagnosed with cancer at the beginning of this year. I put everything on hold, including my podcasts so I could be there for him during this time. Anyway, I wanted to pop in to let you know about one of the only events I've been able to say yes to, in case this was something you'd be interested in attending. It's The Kingdom Impact Summit 2025: Faith-Driven Entrepreneurship That Transforms Lives. It's the first-ever Kingdom Impact summit where business becomes mission and mission becomes movement - it goes from Nov 4-6, 2025, and I am one of 35 speakers. My specific topic is From Invisible to Influential Trusted Authority - even if you're in a crowded marketplace. To find out more and to register go to: https://tinyurl.com/kis-annemarie It's free to register and as soon as you do you'll get immediate access to: ✅ The Kingdom Impact Playbook (a powerful resource for faith-driven entrepreneurs) ✅ 35+ speaker sessions (Nov 4–6, 2025) ✅ Global community impact (your participation fuels real businesses + discipleship worldwide) And best of all—as I mentioned it's completely free. Sustainability isn't just a buzzword, it's becoming a brand essential. And no one understands that better than the Environmental Media Association (EMA). In this episode of Brand Slam, hosts Steve Rosa and Joe Kayata go behind the scenes of a major milestone, how our virtual production studio became the first on the East Coast to earn EMA's Green Seal for Studios. EMA CEO Debbie Levin joins the conversation to talk about what that seal means, why it matters, and how sustainability is reshaping media and marketing. Debbie Levin has been a force in environmental storytelling for over two decades. She's helped make green productions something brands can actually do—and want to do. From celebrity campaigns to certifying feature films, she's helped shift the way Hollywood talks about sustainability. In this episode, Debbie, Steve, and Joe dive into the Green Seal process, why it aligned with our values, and what it takes to build a space with sustainability in mind. They talk about the power of celebrity influence, including a story from EMA's recent IMPACT Summit featuring George Clooney. The episode wraps with a real talk on authenticity. With “greenwashing” on the rise, Debbie shares honest advice for brands that want to tell environmental stories the right way. Whether you're in media, marketing, or just want to make an impact—this one's for you. Interested in a particular topic or want to be a guest? Contact us at brandslam@addventures.com.
