While it’s genuinely not our intention to do so, it could be that we upset a fair number of people today as your hosts look at two behemothic (is that really a word?) releases this week. Because ladies and gentlemen! In the red corner we have the highly anticipated (and that’s an understatement!) release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League....... And in the Blue corner we have the 2nd new Marvel TV series appearing on Disney +, The Falcon and the winter soldier. Oh, and about ‘the upsetting people thing’......well yeah, we kind of really, really, really disliked one of them. A lot! BEWARE, THERE BE SPOILERS CONTAINED WITHIN THE PODCAST! In the 5DNEWS section today there’s a bit of a Machine Gun Kelly vibe going on as news about his planned graphic novel, Hotel Diablo emerges as well as news about MGK (as we kids on the street refer to him) grouping up with game content creation for new music. There’s also a quick mention about some leaked titbits about the forthcoming S10 of American Horror Story. Also in the news there’s another addition to the Leeds United celeb watch as a bone fide boxing legend publishes a pic while wearing the famous white shirt. There’s also more LUFC news relating to another icon passing with the announcement yesterday that Peter Lorimer had died at the age of 74. We always love to hear from the foolhardy souls who listen to this podcast so feel free to send any views, comments, questions, criticisms (hopefully not), or outright proclamations of love and adoration in the comments section below or directly via the 5D Website at 5d-blog.com. Also, if you would like to subscribe for free to receive email newsletter updates from 5D then just complete the ‘Subscribe’ section on the 5D Website. If you would like to sponsor a future episode (or episodes) of the 5D Podcast then get in touch to discuss!
What's this? Another surprise midweek episode?! You're damn right it is! Zach's been talking with writer Eliot Rahal about his upcoming graphic novel Machine Gun Kelly's Hotel Diablo, his current series' Knock 'Em Dead, The Vain and Bleed Them Dry as well as some of Eliot's previous work! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Delivering lyrics with the speed of a bullet train, Cleveland rapper Machine Gun Kelly experienced a meteoric rise in late 2011 when he transitioned from grinding out self-released mixtapes to working with major labels. From there, the rapper skyrocketed to superstar status, with each of his albums charting in the Top Ten. A beef with Eminem, a film career, and even some reality show appearances would follow as the high-powered lyrical rap style of albums like 2019's Hotel Diablo morphed into a driving emo-rock sound on collaborations with Travis Barker and on the Barker-produced 2020 album Tickets to My Downfall, which topped the Billboard 200.
Mr. Machine Gun Kelly has returned with his next album, Hotel Diablo, and here is the review. Welcome to a bonus episode of Head Space Podcast, where we break down new Hip Hop albums track by track.
