This week, Ira spoke with Rudy Sarzo and Alex Grossi from Quiet Riot, performing Oc-tober 5 in the M Pavilion at The M Resort. In this episode of “Talk About Las Vegas With Ira,” Rudy and Alex talk about the genesis of heavy metal; the beginning of Quiet Riot; why the band is focused on the “now” and the near future; the new documentary (and certain video games) that has helped remind people of the band's history; the “con-sciousness” of the band; proving themselves in every single show; respecting the stage; why the band gets along; how “meet-and-greets” are important to connect with the audience; why they represent the legacy of the band 24/7; capturing the sound from the Randy Rhoads era to the “Metal Health” era; and why the fans enjoy the genre, not just the band. Guitarist Alex Grossi from Quiet Riot and Guns N'Roses keyboard player Dizzy Reed started a side band in 2003 called Hookers & Blow as a way to have some fun and maybe get some free drinks in Hollywood. Nearly 20 years later, the band is on the cusp of releasing its self-titled debut (on digital, CD, and vinyl). It's a collection of 12 excellent cover songs, mainly from the 1970s. Two of these are Led Zeppelin classics that feature drumming from the late, great Frankie Banali (Quiet Riot). Alex was nice enough to spend some time telling me about Hookers & Blow, the songs chosen (and not chosen) for the album, and more. To learn more about Hookers & Blow, visit their Facebook. Frustrado, DuBrow empieza a mandar cartas a bandas metaleras nuevas en Los Ángeles sabiendo que su éxito era en parte debido a su éxito "ennow that their success was in part owed to the past successes of Quiet Riot". La banda lanzó Down to the Bone ese mismo año. Guns / Brides of Destruction.

In the interview we talk about the line up which includes Frankie, Chuck Wright, Alex Grossi, and James Durbin as well as what it was like for Frankie when their #1 album "Metal Health" hit so large. "Don't wake the bear." In this episode, Dizzy F'N Reed is the bear... First in Ep. 81 we speak with John Corabi, vocalist of The Dead Daises and former Motley Crue. We discuss the Daises' new album and tour, as well as what was like working with Dizzy Reed and Richard Fortus in DD. How did he feel when Dizzy and Richard left to join the GNR reunion? After we speak with John, we talk with friend/Quiet Riot's Alex Grossi and were SUPPOSED to have Guns N' Roses' Dizzy Reed on too. Well, much like GNR, expect the unexpected. We end up having a lovely chat with Dizzy's wife, Nadja Reed. She contributed heavily to Dizzy's solo album, so there's plenty to discuss. Also, she faces the bear as we listen in to her waking Dizzy up from his hotel bed just to say hi to the fans! So we do get a cameo from Diz! Between John, Nadja, Alex...and a lil Dizzy...this is a fun conversation that goes all over, stemming from Guns N' Roses of course. Also stick around after the outro, as you can listen to the Dead Daises new single "Dead and Gone"!!
Some familiar voices join us on episode 73. Both with their 3rd appearance on the AFD Show, Quiet Riot's Alex Grossi and Westwood One's Mitch Lafon join host Brando for a fun conversation about touring, venues, sports, mini-KISS, the upcoming Dead Daises tour with Hookers & Blow, and so much more!
Red and Jerry talk with guitarist Alex Grossi about the Hookers & Blow tour
Making his 2nd appearance on the AFD Show is Alex Grossi, guitarist for Quiet Riot and Hookers N' Blow (along w/ Guns N' Roses' Dizzy Reed). Alex is back to update us on the latest tour dates with Hookers N' Blow, contributions to the new Dizzy Reed solo album, his cell phone "controversy," Adler's Appetite, and possibly buying a DeLorean. This, and so much more! Please follow and subscribe for new episodes!
The original idea for episode 38 was to have a 3-way conversation with Don Jamieson (That Metal Show/MetalBlade Records) and Alex Grossi (Quiet Riot). However just like Guns N' Roses, not everything goes according to plan, but it's gunna be fun! Both are currently on tour with Dizzy Reed's band, Hookers N' Blow. First we speak with comedian Don Jamieson, who along with Eddie Trunk and Jim Floretine, famously interviewed Axl Rose on VH1's That Metal Show. We discuss the interview, comedy, and what Steven Adler means to him. Joining mid-show, Alex Grossi calls in. Don and Brando first have some fun at Alex's expensive for being late. We then say bye to Don and continue with Alex. We learn the history behind "Hookers N' Blow" and his career which includes recording with Gilby Clarke and Adler's Appetite. 2 shows in 1!
