Comprised of quotes from interviews past and present and featuring many rare vintage photos, Greg examines all eras of the band: their '70s period which featured guitar legend Randy Rhoads in their line-up, through the blockbuster Metal Health period of the early 80s, and all the way to the modern day version of the group. This week we are talking about bands that have rock stars in them: Supergroups and Offshoots. Captain Content reminds us that a band consisting of well-known artists from other bands does not always equal great success. We dive into some of the more obscure supergroups and offshoots that didn't break with huge mainstream success or stay around very long. What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection; an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. This week we talk exclusively about Supergroups featuring famous solo artists and band members along with, Offshoots which are bands that contain the bulk of a previous incarnation of a famous band. We hope that we turn you on to something new.Songs this week include:Neurotic Outsiders – “Nasty Ho” from Neurotic Outsiders (1996)Thrasher – “Bad Boys” from Thrasher (1985)Heavy Bones – “4:AM T-M” from Heavy Bones (1991)Ultra Bomb – “Time To Burn” from Time To Burn (2022)Saints Of The Underground - “Tomorrow Never Comes” from Love The Sin, Hate The Sinner (2008)Mad Season – “Lifeless Dead” from Above (1995)Far Corporation – “Stairway To Heaven” from Division One (1985)Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://x.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/InObscuria?asc=uIf you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/

Rudy Sarzo of Quiet Riot Live on Game Changers with Vicki Abelson I got to sit down again with bassist extraordinaire, Rudy Sarzo... Quiet Riot, Ozzy Osbourne, Whitesnake, The Guess Who, Blue Oyster Cult - who's also a modern-day humanist, animal rights activist, author, mentor, CG artist, and an evolved, spiritual, gentle soul. And what a time it was! Originally from Cuba, we talked Rudy's early days, his family's struggle to get here, and the struggles they continued to face when they arrived. Barely speaking the language, work shortages, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Kennedy Assassination, to the shining light of the Beatles, which shifted almost everything. Rudy's foray into music... Kevin Dubrow, the original Quiet Riot, a partial cover band at the time doing some originals, Ozzy Osbourne, the fame, booze, and the crazy, Randy Rhoads, who opened the doors, filled the world with magic and then took the joy when he left way too soon, Frankie Banali, more Quiet Riot, Metal Health, Whitesnake, the girls, more fame, Blue Oyster Cult, The Guess Who, now joyfully back with Quiet Riot with bandmates handpicked by the originals. We talked Rudy's marriage, it'll be 40 years this June, a herculean accomplishment for anyone, for a rocker on the road, stunningly amazing! This is a man who honors his commitments. All of them. Sober 26 years, he found program and solutions during the pandemic and finds himself a changed man in so many ways. And this, a changed world. Rudy is deep and we went deep about music, healing, the communal experience... I feel richer, calmer, saner, and more centered having spent time in his grounded and assured presence. He's not only a monster bass player of the highest caliber, he's also a highly evolved human of a most admirable order. I feel like I just spent an hour plus with a Zen master and I'm somehow better for it. What a gift he is. On our show, we often examine bands who make it big on one side of the pond, but for some reason don't hit it big on the other. This week we examine a band that was huge in the US thanks to a hit by a band that was huge in the UK. in 1983, Quiet Riot released Metal Health and, thanks to success of the Slade cover Cum On Feel The Noize, became the first heavy metal album to hit #1 on the Billboard charts. The song hadn't been a hit for Slade in the US but was huge in the UK and Europe. Quiet Riot may have risen to great heights in the US but didn't make much of a dent in the UK. Beyond the big hit, there are some driving beats and killer riffs provided by Frankie Banali (drums), Rudy Sarzo (bass) and Carlos Cavazo (guitar) on songs like Metal Health and Slick Black Cadillac. But it was the posturing and sleazy lyrics of lead singer Kevin Dubrow that really grabbed people's attention and got the band into some hot water. How has this one stood the test of time after 40 years? We go track by track, have a listen! It's always a pleasure to talk with a guy like Rudy Sarzo.  We caught him before hoping on the Jericho Cruise to discuss many topics. He's played with some many great musicians. He loves talking about the legendary Randy Rhoads, who he was playing with at his death. He talks about the unbelievable song and video for a lost Quiet Riot song, "I Can't Hold On". He talked about the fifty year old friendship he had with drummer Frankie Banali, finding out he had cancer and a great gift he gave to Rudy. Truly a touching story. He tells me about rejoining Quiet Riot, a band he was in with Detroit's own John 5, where the term "Bang Your Head" came from, and his thoughts on Rick Rubin's comment about Paul McCartney being the #1 bass player he's seen. When you think guitar gods, names like Hendrix, Frehley, Van Halen, Clapton, Iommi all come to mind, but one name in a very limited window of time will always stick out and that man was named, Randy Rhoads. In just a 5 year window, Randy Rhoads began his journey to guitar god with Quiet Riot, leading him to join Ozzy Osbourne on his first solo venture with Blizzard of Ozz. Sadly, at 25 years old, Rhoads lost his life in a tragic plane crash that left the entire music industry numb. Now, 40 years since his passing, director Andre Relis and rock legend, Tracii Guns (who narrates the documentary) revisit the life and times of Randy Rhoads, a musical prodigy from Southern California that within a few months was better than his own music teacher. In less than 90 minutes, Relis humanizes Rhoads who has been deified in the metal community and continues to live on in our hearts, minds and souls. If you can get your hands on an early release of Blizzard of Ozz or the first two Quiet Riot albums, you can hear the intricacies of Rhoads' musicality within each song. During our interview, I told Guns that I was terrified when initially finding out that he was the narrator, because although he is an incredible musician and vocalist, that does not always translate to voice over, but to my delight and everyone else's Tracii Guns knocked it out of the park and just like any L.A. Guns show, will leave the audience wanting to hear more! 'Randy Rhoads: Reflections of a Guitar Icon' Releasing on VOD, Friday, May 6, 2022. Official Synopsis: Randy Rhoads, the legendary guitarist known for his unmatchable guitar riffs, re-shaped rock'n'roll as the lead guitarist for Quiet Riot and Ozzy Osbourne. After forming Quiet Riot with bandmates Kelly Garni, Drew Forsyth, and Kevin DuBrow in the 70s, the band quickly became one of the most popular acts in the Los Angeles club circuit. However, their music failed to land them a legitimate record deal. After playing with Quiet Riot for over 10 years, Randy received an opportunity to be the lead guitarist for former Black Sabbath singer Ozzy Osbourne. Randy played with Ozzy for a few short years, recording legendary songs such as Crazy Train, which includes Randy's groundbreaking guitar solo. After touring with Ozzy in the early 80s, Randy was tragically killed in a plane crash on March 19, 1982 at the young age of 25. His body died that day, but his soul and music live on forever. 'Randy Rhoads: Reflections of a Guitar Icon' is directed by Andre Relis. Narrated by Tracii Guns. Written and edited by Michael Bruining. Produced by Relis and Jessica Bennett. Executive Produced by Relis and JD Beaufils. Cinematography by Rich Buhrman. Music by Sean Kelly. A VMI Worldwide production. Interviews: Delores Rhoads, Kelle Rhoads, Laura 'DuBrow' Mandell, Rudy Sarzo, Drew Forsyth, Eddie Van Halen, Lori Hollen, Jodi Vigier, Kim McNair, Brian Reason, Peter M. Margolis, Frankie Banali, John Donais, Joel Hoekstra, Bruce Kulick, Doug Aldrich, Gary Moore, Dweezil Zappa, George Lynch, and Ozzy Osbourne. #RandyRhoads #QuietRiot #OzzyOsbourne #TraciiGuns #LAGuns #Documentary #HeavyMetal #RockNRoll #Interview #FanboyNation

Machine» y «I Wanna Be Somebody» impulsaron las ventas del álbum.
