One prominent rock band's solution involves ticket buyers having their eyeballs scanned to prove they're human. Thirty Seconds To Mars, the hard rock combo led by actor Jared Leto (who was accused of sexual misconduct by nine women last year), is deploying an online ticketing tool called Concert Kit for their 2027 tour of Europe and the UK. According to the San Francisco Standard, the system involves each customer creating a verified World ID, an encrypted digital passport created by an orb that scans your irises and face. It uses "proof of human" technology developed by Tools For Humanity, a company founded by OpenAI's Sam Altman. To get a World ID, you have to visit an official World store or a partner retailer and have your eyes scanned." Bring Me The Horizon (Count Your Blessings), My Chemical Romance (The Black Parade), Green Day (American Idiot/Dookie), Billy Talent (Billy Talent 2) und viele weitere haben es kürzlich oder werden es demnächst tun.
Nicole Alexis didn't wait for a cosign—she built her sound, her audience, and her entire project from the ground up. In this episode, we dive into her journey from working behind the scenes as a writer and producer to becoming a fully self-made artist, handling everything from recording to engineering on her own. We talk about the grind of building a loyal online following through stripped-back covers, the moment she knew it was time to step into her own voice, and what it really means to stay independent in today's music landscape. Nicole also opens up about her upcoming EP Mirrors and Smoke, the momentum behind songs like “Don't Tell Me To Breathe,” and the story behind her latest single “Just A Friend”—a raw look at the emotional limbo between friendship and something more. If you're into real conversations about music, independence, and chasing something on your own terms—this one hits. #NicoleAlexis #IndieArtist #AltAcoustic #MusicPodcast #NewMusic

As we know, nu-metal is not exactly a genre filled with smart guys. But as far as dumb guys in the scene go, Jared Leto might take the cake. A man who sure has a lot of ideas about space, life, and the human struggle, this debut album has potentially the most insane lyrics we've ever heard and the interviews back up all the insanity. We aren't sure if Jared Leto has ever had a cohesive thought in his life, but he sure believes he has, and ultimately, that's what counts. The music surprises us by being not that terrible, but that was probably inevitable given it was produced by Bob Ezrin and given a ton of major label backing. But don't worry, the guys in the band actually started this whole thing with slow and steady growth, and it's the only reason they got popular. Their movie star lead singer had no impact on their first tour being in arenas. Nope, not at all. It's an album tailor-made for the show. We cover a lot of other albums tailor-made for the show too over on our Patreon at patreon.com/thepodkast, where $4/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month. Last month, we had our friend Riviera from the Nu-Metal Agenda on to discuss 12 Stones' debut album "12 Stones", which is a Christian Rock album that absolutely sounds like a Christian Rock album. It's a lot of fun. You also get instant access to our entire back catalogue of over 200 episodes, and access to our Discord. So help support the show and join today!

In this episode, I do a deep dive into the allegations against Hollywood musician and movie star Jared Leto. Earlier in the week, I published 2 other parts on this subject, where I interviewed Michael. Given the controversy the episodes brought, and the amount of constructive feedback listeners have offered, I have decided to record this separate episode. I hope this is a show of good faith and an indication that I take the integrity of the podcast, and the position of myself as host of this show, very seriously. Thanks for all who reached out to offer your thoughts.Part 1 and 2 with Michael are now on the unlisted feed and can still be listened too upon request or by following these links. It's the 30th episode of The Album Concept Hour! In order to commemorate it correctly, we're doing an episode about 30 Seconds to Mar's 3rd album, "This Is War." Coming off the heels of their successful sophomore release "A Beautiful Lie," which pulled people in with it's high-budget music videos/short films, brothers/bandmates Shannon and Jared Leto were poised to make another hit record. Jared Leto had reached huge success in his acting career and now he had reached that in his music career. To put it bluntly, this symmetrically-faced, actor/rock star/heart-throb was worth a lot of money. In 2008, 30 Seconds to Mars was trying pivot away from Virgin Records, who had acquired the label they originally signed to, Immortal Records. EMI (who owned Virgin Records) was pissed about possibly losing such a big asset and, seeing a chance to make some quick cash, attempted to sue the band for only completing 2 of the 5 albums they felt they were owed. However, Jared Leto pointed out that in California, contracts can't legally bind you more than 7 years and they were on their 9th year. Although they ultimately declared their contract null and void, they did end up staying with EMI for "This Is War," putting their differences aside. They have made peace, but the album they released is about the personal war they went through in the legal system during that time and is a big shift in their sound. Join Brad, Scott, Dave, and Jon as they try to discover what the war is all about.
