2023 entgleiste im Gotthard Basistunnel ein Güterzug, weil ein Rad des Wagens gebrochen war. Es dauerte fast ein Jahr bis im Gotthard wieder Normalbetrieb herrschte. Am Montag präsentierte die Schweizerische Sicherheitsuntersuchungsstelle SUST nun ihren Abschlussbericht zu dem Unfall. Weitere Themen: In Polen hat der Kandidat der nationalkonservativen Pis, Karol Nawrocki, die Präsidentenwahlen mit einem hauchdünnen Vorsprung gewonnen. Für die EU-freundliche Regierung von Donald Tusk ist das ein harter Schlag, denn Nawrocki dürfte ihren Reformkurs ausbremsen und die Wiederannäherung an die EU erschweren. Fast wöchentlich werden Schiedsrichterinnen und Schiedsrichter in den höchsten Schweizer Fussballligen kritisiert oder gar bedroht. Ihre Entscheidungen sorgen oftmals für heftige Diskussionen und Reaktionen. Was treibt junge Leute noch an, eine Schiedsrichterkarriere anzustreben?

Im Konflikt um die Region Kaschmir zeichneit sich eine Entspannung ab. Indien und Pakistan haben sich auf eine Waffenruhe geeinigt. Das liess US-Präsident Donald Trump persönlich verlauten. Die US-Regierung habe in einer langen Verhandlungsnacht die Vermittlerrolle übernommen. Weitere Themen: Genf steht dieses Wochenende im Fokus der Weltöffentlichkeit. Delegationen aus den USA und China führen dort seit heute Morgen Gespräche wegen des Handelskonflikts, also die gegenseitig verhängten hohen Zölle. Dass Genf Austragungsort dieses Treffens ist, ist ein doppelter Erfolg für die Schweiz. Die Politik sucht nach Wegen, um den Verkehr am Gotthard flüssiger zu machen. Ein Vorstoss fordert, die Strasse über den Gotthard während des Winters nicht mehr zu sperren, sondern den Pass wintertauglich zu machen und so eine zusätzliche Fahrspur in den Süden zu bekommen. Was würde das für den Unterhalt der Strasse bedeuten?

Osterzeit ist Stauzeit. Das zeigt sich bereits am Gotthard. Und auch im Kanton Graubünden rechnet das Tiefbauamt mit mehr Verkehr. Auch wenn die Wetterprognosen für den Süden auf nasse Ostern hindeuten. Damit die Dörfer entlang der A13 vom Ausweichverkehr entlastet werden, ist man gewappnet.
