As Nigeria hosts a high-level National Dialogue on Migration with the EU this month, two German deportation flights got quietly scheduled, one has landed at Ikeja already. Kolawole Falodun spoke to investigative journalist Frey Lindsay, activist Rex Osa who runs a shelter for deportees in Lagos, and two individuals forcibly returned: Richie (deported from his workplace in 2022) and Wealth (sent back in 2024 despite serious health issues). Behind the talks on “reintegration” lies intense EU pressure on Nigeria to sign a new readmission deal and accept more deportation flights. A raw look at the human price of Europe's migration crackdown.

In this powerful episode, we're reminded that prayer is not about performance—it's about access. Through Jesus, the barrier between God and humanity was torn down. He didn't just point the way; He became the way (John 14:6), restoring the access we lost and giving us a new identity as sons and daughters. Here's what you'll learn:

A bomb went off on Talabi street in Ikeja, Lagos that shook Nigeria to it's core.. we explore the details of this unsolved murder of the journalist, Dele Giwa
Ademide Adim Akpapunam speaks of capturing the best of both worlds: being born to parents from Delta and Ogun states- an obvious antidote to the tribalist rhetoric that has formed part of the soundscape of Nigerian politics this year. From growing up in Ikeja to attending the prestigious Adesoye College in Kwara and college in the United States, an interest in the transformative power of digital media would inspire his entry into Nigerian politics. Akpapunam in his official capacity as the Personal Assistant to the country's #4 citizen- House of Representatives Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila (Surulere I) has an enviable understanding of the legislature and the dynamics that go towards ensuring unity in the lower chamber. He speaks to the sagacity of his principal while making a case for the Tinubu administration. In the context of Gbajabiamila's appointment as the President's Chief of Staff, this interview helps make sense of an expected power broker in the new administration
The candidate for Nigeria's governing party, Bola Tinubu, has strengthened his lead in the elections, but three opposition parties have strongly criticised the poll and said it must be abandoned. We speak to a candidate from the opposition Labour Party, Ireti Heeba Kingibe, who joins the call in spite of just winning her own seat. Also in the programme: what is behind the poisoning of hundreds of schoolgirls in Iran? And how the landmark trial that convicted Argentina's last military dictator has been turned into a film that's been nominated for an Oscar. On 25 February, Nigerians go to the ballot box to vote for their next president. For the first time in a long time, the Incumbent president will not be contesting the elections – having already served the maximum allowed two terms. Since 2016, the country has spiralled down as inflation has hit over 20% and unemployment rides at around 30% overall, and 60% for the young. Banditry and kidnappings have become lucrative methods of making a living in the country and a pervading sense that this could be now or never for Nigerians hangs ominously. Three candidates have emerged as the front runners for the elections. The stalwarts Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress, or APC, and Atiku Abubakar, of the People's Democratic Party, or DPD, are familiar faces from familiar parties. Power has been shared between the two parties since 1999. Peter Obi is the outsider who has taken a dramatic lead over recent weeks in the polls. He represents the Labour Party who have never held power and is offering to run the country in a different manner to what the country has been used to thus far. Foreshadowing the entire event is the expectation that Nigeria is expected to reach a population of around 400 million by 2050, making it the fourth largest country in terms of population by this date. That is an increase of around 60-80% of the current population estimates. Ensuring the infrastructure is in place for such a boom in population will be pivotal to Nigeria's ability to both maximise the potential for its citizens whilst gaining the most from them. Spiritual Warfare
Our number one defense against the devil is information (we can be prayerful and ignorant). We are as powerful as we are knowledgeable. If we won't be ignorant of the devil's scenes, we must be knowledgeable.
Dominion without the spirit is dangerous, while the spirit without dominion would be mediocre. We must find positions of influence for the gospel.
There are avenues to demonstrate our love for Jesus. From John 21:25 we see Jesus saying feeding his sheep is a personal favor to Him. In a practical sense, God needs us. Without man, God will not and without God, man cannot. In Matthew 26:40-43 , Jesus asked Peter ‘Couldn't you keep watch with me for one hour ? ‘ We decipher two crucial lessons from this 1. In our devotion our love for Jesus is proven. Jesus is the head and we are his body, so when He leads we follow. From our actions and our inactions, we prove our love for Him. 2. Hypertrophy in prayer The true power of prayer is in the habit not just in the action. You won't see true results until you have been consistent. Prayer has a cumulative effect. The effect is measured over a period of time not just in an instance. There is a time factor in prayer. The real training is not just praying. It is the heartfelt and continued prayer of the righteous that makes power available.
God's plan in Christ had already been established, and the saints of old knew about it. It is through Jesus that all the families of the earth are blessed. It is important that we know how faith, as well as doubt, works. We can change a generation by influencing what they see because, in times of old, the gospel was preached with pictures. We disciple nations when we prevail over their ideology. Truth must find a way to affect our worldview. We are supposed to view the world through light, we are not to stay gazing at light. Dominion without the spirit is dangerous, while the spirit without dominion would be mediocre. We must find positions of influence for the gospel.
The year is 1971. You are standing outside of the New Afrika Shrine in Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria. Waiting. The line is long. The air is thick with a tenor of brassy soul and a gut-churning rhythm that makes you drop into your own hips. The jolt of the familiar. You are here. There. The birth of AfroBeat. This was no brightly colored music video. No. This was a vivid spiritual and socio-political war. A people's rebellion underscored with white tribal paint under beautiful women's eyes. An ancient inquisition dotting their foreheads. Fela Kuti, his crew of wives, his commune, and his continent of followers challenged the state and disrupted the status quo. Their courage was met with violence that resulted in the funeral procession of the matriarch of the movement. Let's pay our respects.Disclaimer: We do not own the rights to the music or speech excepts reference or played during this broadcast.
