The Billings Air Service Committee, comprised of Billings Airport, Billings Chamber, Big Sky Economic Development, and Visit Billings, has been hard at work promoting air service to/from Billings! Their recent efforts resulted in bringing Sun Country Airlines to Billings, which will provide another direct flight to Minneapolis beginning this summer. They also secured essential air service to key towns in Montana and secured a federal air service grant, which will help us attract direct service to Southern California. The CEO of the Billings Chamber, John Brewer; and Director of Aviation and Transit for the City of Billings, Jeff Roach joined us to provide an update on everything happening with this critical part of our economy. Thank you so much to Marsh McLennan Agency for sponsoring ChamberCast!

In this week's episode we talk to Linton Lewis and his clubmates from Ammanford Cricket Club. Linton, born in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the Caribbean, came to Ammanford in 1981 as an unknown young cricketer from the West Indies. When he left the club in 1989 he had transformed the club's fortunes and left behind a series of exploits that were legendary throughout South Wales and beyond. Those interested in learning more about Linton's experiences at Ammanford can do no better than read this wonderful article on the Dai Sport website which we used in the research for our podcast:https://www.dai-sport.com/linton-lewis-lawyer-politician-multi-millionaire-and-welsh-club-cricket-legend/ Listen in as we talk to Linton, Ammanford club captain Jeff Roach and past players Colin Mathews, Phil Fisher and Richard Evans as they recall those tumultuous years when the club was catapulted from Division 3 of the South Wales Cricket Association to Division 1, winning 3 Welsh cups along the way and completing the double of Division 1 Champions and Welsh Cup Winners in 1986.

With Jeff Roach You dont have to have 10 thousand followers, you dont have to have the perfect grid, you dont have to hire a professional photographer, and you most definitely dont have to wait for perfect, for your social media strategy, you just have to START. You simply need to find a way to invite people into your world and today's guest is here to help you get started with that – because sometimes just starting can be the hardest part. Do you ever scroll back to your very first social media post and have a little giggle? I can't help but laugh when I peek at my earliest days on instagram. It's chock full of low quality photos of my food or my coffee mug accompanied by two word captions, or no caption at all and my feed just generally had no consistency or flow. In those early days I was using social media solely to entertain myself, and I most certainly didn't have a strategy. But everyone starts somewhere, right? And even though I have come to love all things social strategy, I didn't always have a clear vision for how social media could support, enhance, or even transform my business for the better. The “starting” phase is easily the hardest part because so often we get hung up on trying to perfect everything and then we just get overwhelmed and do nothing instead. Sound about right? Today's episode of the workshop weekly podcast is all about paring it down, simplifying your approach and removing the barriers to entry so you can reset your social strategy or just start if you're at ground zero. By the end of this episode, I want you to have the knowledge and tools that you need to step into it, own it, and start honing the voice and the strategy you need to grow and support your business. And I want you to see that it doesn't have to feel overwhelming. Today we are talking to a very special guest, social media guru and strategist, Jeff Roach, who also happens to be my husband. We are discussing the super simple steps that you need to be taking to start off on the right foot with social, or if you've already started, what you can do to give your social strategy a little makeover and get it back on track starting TO-DAY! In this episode, we talk about: Trust Agents of social media and why you need to embody one.Using social media strategically for your business – stop wasting your precious time! The importance of knowing WHO you are trying to reach on social media, how to discover them, and understand what social networks they use (hint: the answer is NOT “everyone”)The value in researching hashtags and keywords to learn more about your target customer. The true cost of trying to reach EVERYONE (it ain’t cheap…)Why even very small businesses NEED a budget for social media and it is more affordable than you think.Knowing what platforms your customers are on so you can meet them where they are.How to please the algorithm gods.Which platforms are the best bang for your buck.Getting your content in front of people who will care enough to share it (sharing really is caring)Leveraging organic reach on platformsHow to understand your metrics and set goals for content performance. The difference between the content you share to get people to care about tour brand is the content you share to get people to buy a product. “Take an hour to sit down and think about who your customer is and start surfing the web as if you are that customer. What do you look at? What do you click on? What do you not click on? What social networks do you use? And just be that customer for a little while and try to understand their behaviors and you will meet them online when you do that.”Jeff Roach See, I told you it doesn’t have to be that complicated! and now my friend, it is your time to start. Walk away from this podcast and take action. Tag me in your beginnings or in your resets so that I can come along with you and cheer you on! The most important job for any broker, trucking owner-operator or small fleet owner is finding the best-paying freight loads to haul. For many, this task is the most difficult part of owning a trucking company. Many drivers believe that being an independent is the way to be more successful within the trucking industry and many are successful doing so. However, along with this decision comes many responsibilities, one of those being the ability to find and choose profitable loads. There are many reasons why those within the trucking industry begin a Freight Broker Training course: Dispatchers have found that the course can broaden their careers. Others love truck driving or owning their own trucking company and want to learn more about the business mechanics of the industry and being able to increase their profits. For those drivers leaving the industry due to retirement or health issues, etc., still wish to remain active within the industry and choose to learn a newer aspect of the field. This evening we will discuss how Freight Broker Training can benefit those within the trucking industry with our special guest, Jeff Roach of Brooke Transportation Training. Introducing Jeff Roach These days most businesses try to get with the times and engage people through social media with mixed results. Many take the route of duplicating the ads they use in traditional marketing and posting them to social media. Jeff Roach would tell these people they are going about social media marketing all wrong. Jeff is the founder of Sociallogical, a company that works with other businesses to embed social media tools and practices into their operations. His company helps those having trouble understanding how social media can be an asset to them by initiating a strategy, training their people, and developing and managing content. Jeff's main beef with how many companies use social media is that they are using it for advertising and not sharing the stories that the company has to tell. Jeff tells us that social media is NOT another advertising channel. In fact, using social media this way many companies turn their customers off. Consider what a customer might be likely to do if they become annoyed by ads. They are likely to block the company from their social media feed. People don't go to social media to be bombarded with ads; they use social media to connect, interact, and to be engaged. So what is the correct approach? You need to make people feel like they are connected to you. Jeff uses the analogy of a Christmas parties. Every December countless businesses pull in clients, employees, contractors, associates, etc. to have a few drinks or a meal and to connect on a personal level. Everyone finds out what each other have been up to and many see others they haven't seen in quite some time. Generally, big deals or sales are not struck during the Christmas party, just general conversations. Using social media marketing should be just like having a Christmas party all-year-long. You want your clients to know what you have been up to, and what is new, but without the sales. The sales will come as you engage with your customers, by telling them the great stories of success you have made for others, and by becoming a trust agent. In this episode Jeff tells us his story of how he fell in love with online marketing and his experiences with entrepreneurship. Greg tells us about the three different types of people every business needs. Jeff gives his impressions of how marketing has changed drastically in even the last 10 years. Greg concludes that you can never feel like you know everything you need to know about social media and Dave warns us to beware of the coach that doesn't have a coach.
