Auburn's road trip to Auburn (11:45, SEC Network) might be the most fascinating Week 9 SEC matchup. The Southeastern 16 crew tells you why. Arkansas has, debatably, the SEC's best offense. Quarterback Taylen Green is a dual-threat nightmare and running back Mike Washington has been terrific. And, offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino is now the head coach. They'll face an Auburn defense led by Keldric Faulk that's been both elite and consistent. Auburn allows 17.4 points and 317 yards per game and has not allowed more than 24 points in a game. However, Arkansas's defense is awful. The Razorbacks allow 32.7 points and 444 yards a game and struggles to tackle and defend the run. The Tigers, with quarterback Jackson Arnold and Jeremiah Cobb, have the ability to run the ball quite well. However, an injury to starting center Connor Lew could be costly. Auburn also has talented receivers in Cam Coleman and Eric Singleton, but the Tigers can't get them the ball. Arkansas has remained motivated and played teams to the wire in Petrino's two games, while Auburn seems to struggle with confidence as rumors swirl about coach Hugh Freeze's future. Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer has established himself as a Heisman Trophy candidate, rushing for 161 yards and four scores while throwing for 944 yards and five touchdowns, but also three interceptions. The Sooners have had trouble running the ball from the running back position, as Jadyn Ott has been a non-factor and Tory Blalock (166 yards, 3 TD) has become the main threat Mateer has rapport with tight end Jared Kanak (14 catches, 225 yards) and wide receiver Deion Burks (17 catches, 225 yards). Auburn's defense, led by Keyron Crawford, Keldric Faulk and Xavier Atkins, has been stingy, allowing just 14 points per game and 4.9 yards per play. With Auburn in full camp mode and 30 days from its season opener at Baylor, writer Kevin Scarbinsky joined The Auburn Undercover Podcast to examine the Tigers' progress, depth, and the challenges that will define their season. Scarbinsky discussed Hugh Freeze's approach to camp, including his emphasis on building quarterback confidence by tailoring practice reps. "I don't know that I've ever heard a coach put it quite that way," he said, noting how Freeze wants his quarterback to "walk off the field feeling good about himself." The conversation also highlighted Auburn's offensive upgrades.
