Rich and the guys marvel at how long TJ stuck by his ancient iPhone 6 before finally upgrading recently. Now that the dust has settled on NFL free agency and the draft, Rich lists his Top 5 Under-the-Radar Offseason Acquisitions including Myles Jack to the Steelers, Rodgers Saffold to the Bills, Jabril Peppers to the Patriots, Russell Gage to the Buccaneers and the Dolphins adding Raheem Mostert and Cedrick Wilson. The NFL depth charts are pretty set! The rookies have landing spots! We now have a decent idea how the fantasy landscape will look come July! So it's time to put a stake in the ground and make some rankings. On today's podcast we'll tackle the scarcest position: running back. Beyond the first several names, there simply aren't a lot of sure things, and we'll talk about why. We'll also talk some about tight end ranks and why our first inclination is to once again *not* pay to get one of the highly rated ones. Fantasy draft strategy formulations begin now! 1. This spring, the Jets heavily pursued Chandler Jones in free agency and were one of the two finalists to acquire Tyreek Hill via trade. Thus, many believe the Jets will be targeting an EDGE pass rusher and a WR with their two top-10 picks. However, there is also a lot of buzz that the Jets could be eyeing Sauce Gardner, arguably the best corner in this class, at 4 overall. That said, as valuable as the cornerback position is, only four corners have been top five picks over the past 11 drafts. Why would Sauce Gardner be a great pick for the Jets at that spot? 2. After trading for Tyreek Hill, the Dolphins do not pick until 102 overall. But there is a reasonable argument to be made that they've quietly built a VERY strong roster on both sides of the ball. On defense, they have an underrated front with Emmanuel Ogbah, Jaelan Phillips and Christian Wilkins and a STACKED secondary with Xavien Howard, Byron Jones and Jevon Holland. On offense, they significantly upgraded the offensive line by signing Terron Armstead and acquiring Tyreek Hill gives them one of the scariest groups of offensive weapons in the entire league with Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Mike Gesicki, Chase Edmonds and Raheem Mostert. I just can't find a glaring hole on this Dolphins team outside of the mystery that is Tua Tagovailoa. Can you? 3. When it comes to the Patriots, it can be argued that corner and EDGE are their biggest areas of need, but there's a decent chance the cupboard in terms of value at both positions could be bare when the Patriots are on the clock at 21 overall. Should that be the case, two other directions they could go are at guard after the departures of Ted Karras and Shaq Mason or off-ball linebacker. If both Devin Lloyd and Zion Johnson are available for the Patriots, who would you take and why? 4. The Bills will be headed into 2022 as a strong Super Bowl favorite, and the acquisition of Von Miller in free agency could indeed turn out to be the final piece of the puzzle. But there are still some areas of concern on this otherwise strong roster. Buffalo could use another boundary corner to line up opposite Tre'Davious White, and they can use a legitimate lead-dog at running back. I am FAR from the biggest fan of selecting a running back in the first round, but if no corner that's available meets the value of the 25th overall pick, would Breece Hall be a good pick for the Bills there? 5. Jets 3-Round Mock -(4): Kayvon Thibodeaux -(10): Drake London -(35): Jaquan Brisker -(38): Tyler Smith -(69): Chad Muma 6. Dolphins 3-Round Mock -(102): Channing Tindall 7. This week's ViperCast is a nice little 3 part series starting with reactions to all the quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and tight end movement early in the off-season. We have seen the likes of Russell Wilson, Carson Wentz, DeShaun Watson, and Matt Ryan all be traded, while teams like the Steelers and Falcons have decided to sign free agent quarterbacks such as Mitchell Trubisky and Marcus Mariota. Not much to talk about when it comes to the running back position outside of Miami signing both Raheem Mostert and Chase Edmonds, but those tight ends, they've been finding new homes. We saw the Jets sign CJ Uzomah and Tyler Conklin while Evan Engram and OJ Howard look to live up to expectations elsewhere as well. We have Davante Adams being traded from Green Bay to Las Vegas to join the Raiders. Amari Cooper going from the Dallas Cowboys to the Cleveland Browns. Allen Robinson signs as a free agent with the Rams thus making Robert Woods expendable and on his way to join the Titans. We also have Juju Smith-Schuster and DJ Chark signing 1-year deals to join the Chiefs and Lions. Of course, it all started with that Christian Kirk signing in Jacksonville. Paul starts the show by discussing the craziness of the first week of NFL Free Agency in terms of major trades and signings. He then goes through and discusses every relevant signing and trade for each offensive skill player and shares his initial thoughts on whether or not it is a stock up or down to their overall dynasty value. He also discusses the ramifications the signing or trade has on other players directly involved from the trade or signing. Lastly, he also discusses the impact some of the signings could have on the 2022 NFL Draft. Some of the players discussed in most detail include Aaron Rodgers, Deshaun Watson, Russell Wilson, Carson Wentz, Chase Edmonds, Raheem Mostert, James Connor, Davante Adams, Allen Robinson, Christian Kirk, OJ Howard, Evan Engram and many more. On today's DolphinsTalk.com Podcast the DolphinsTalk crew has a special roundtable discussion breaking down the moves Miami has made in Free Agency thus far. Mike, Ian, Tom, Aaron, Dante, and Josh talk about the signings of Chase Edmonds and Raheem Mostert at running back, the addition of Cedrick Wilson to the wide receiver room, Teddy Bridgewater being signed as the backup quarterback to Tua, and they speculate what Miami will do at linebacker either in free agency or the draft. Also, they guys do a deep dive into the Miami Dolphins offensive line. Connor Williams has been signed and will most likely be the left guard, but what will Miami do at offensive tackle? Hey remember that time that the GB packers were good? Fast forward through a global pandemic and a stint guest hosting Jeopardy and Aaron Rodgers ends his week with 3.0 points - his QBR was worse than if he had snapped the ball and spiked the ball every snap the entire game. We break down all the action (or in the GB Packers case, inaction) from Week 1, discuss the injury to Raheem Mostert (predictable), make picks for Week 2, and Dave's entire reality around John Mulaney is shaken to its core.
Week 1 is officially in the books and boy is there plenty to discuss! On this week's episode, Andrew and Lauren go game by game through the action, giving their biggest takeaways for fantasy. Is it too early to panic about the Titans and Packers? Are Jalen Hurts and Jameis Winston for real? What's the fallout from the Raheem Mostert and Ryan Fitzpatrick injuries? Find out. Andrew and Lauren then turn their attention to the waiver wire, laying out their top adds at QB, RB, WR, TE, and DEF. How aggressive should you be in trying to acquire Elijah Mitchell? Are boring veterans like Mark Ingram and Carlos Hyde good adds, or should you prioritize younger players with more upside? Who's the WR to acquire in Denver following the Jerry Jeudy injury? Why is Jared Cook still so lightly rostered? Your faithful hosts answer all this and much more. Josh returns to the Beat Writer circuit, taking a second spin around the league while focusing on teams with a new starting quarterback for 2021 and what that means for their respective offense. First is Nick Underhill on the Saints, where the Jameis Winston versus Taysom Hill dynamic carries on, along with thoughts on Michael Thomas, a 'WR2' and Adam Trautman. Then it is Vish Kumaran on Trey Lance, Trey Sermon and Raheem Mostert. And we close with Kevin Fishbain focusing on Justin Fields, Darnell Mooney and Cole Kmet.
