So far so good in the cherry orchard, according to Carrie Lautenbach Viste, co-owner of Lautenbach's Orchard in Fish Creek. She says there's been no frost issues and none in the forecast thanks to lake winds. The heat wave in mid-May had the cherries blossoming overnight. Harvest is expected to begin around July 20 -- roughly 60 days after the blossom. In June, they have 'June drop' which is nature's way of selecting the best fruit, and the trees drop any cherries it doesn't see fit. She says the best time to come to Door County for a cherry experience is around the start of harvest. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Chase Lautenbach & Justin Keith created Street Car Takeover just a few years ago because they saw a void in the racing market for more “streetable” cars to compete in drag racing and roll racing. Their series has expanded to 10 events in 2016 and they are looking to keep growing. While the main event is the drag racing, Street Car Takeover also incorporates a shop open house, car show, and other meetup prior to the actual racing. They want to offer more experience for the fans and encourage people to participate.
