Joined by Marching Pride leaders, Aidan Trout and Maddie Shelton, we got to hear more about being in the UNA marching band as well, and all of the great reasons to join the band. This week on The 3 Retro Movie Geeks, Christmas comes early as we dive into the festive chaos of Home Alone 2: Lost in New York! With Scott mysteriously lost somewhere in the Big Apple (we suspect he followed a trail of cheese pizza), Rob and Paul hold down the fort — and welcome back the ever-brilliant Marc Parslow, along with our special guest Wayne Thrussell, for this Christmas special edition. We revisit Kevin McCallister's second accidental solo adventure, from his luxury stay at the Plaza Hotel to the sticky showdown with the Wet Bandits — now the Sticky Bandits! Expect plenty of laughs as we break down the film's most iconic moments, including the Talkboy, the toy store heist, that epic pigeon lady scene, and whether Harry and Marv could ever survive Kevin's traps in real life. We also unwrap the film's festive charm, its Christmas soundtrack, behind-the-scenes trivia, and why this sequel has become a holiday staple for families everywhere. Grab your hot chocolate, avoid any suspiciously slippery pavements, and join us as we relive one of the most beloved Christmas movies of the 90s.
My guest is an actress and talent manager who is perhaps best known for her role in the Home Alone movie franchise. We discuss her memories of appearing in Home Alone, how she transitioned to talent manager, things she's coped with in her life, and much more.

“Another sympathetic reaction is watching people above the age of 30 fall on their backs. How is he walking?!” New friend of the show Amber Flannery Field – the only good tour guide in New York City – stops by to discuss Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Strap the heck in for a discussion on the highly protected institution of the white American boy, the “clean-up” of New York City in the 90s, the racial politics of tourism, power, homelessness, violence and – look out below – Brenda Fricker. Settle in and learn why they call Amber “America's comic.” Also, what is a Lynchian couch? Gotta listen ‘til the end. This is about Home Alone 2, by the way.
Just like the original installment before it, this sequel holiday special follows the exact same formula as its predecessor. First, Caitlin and Don gift each other a randomly-selected advertiser. Then, after a 30-minute hiatus (that you don't have to wait through thanks to the magic of audio editing), we present each other with freshly-written original jingles that would make even a grinch's heart grow three sizes (minimum). After that, Don surprises Caitlin with a political jingle he found in the wild that ultimately failed to help its candidate win an election, but is too country-fried good not to discuss. Enjoy and Happy Holidays from your friends at Welcome to the Jingle!

While this is definitely a Christmas movie, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York should not have been made. It's a remake of Home Alone that came out 2 years before, but with worse pacing and less stakes. Written by John Hughes, directed by Chris Columbus, and starring Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, John Heard, Tim Curry, Brenda Fricker, and Catherine O'Hara. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thegenxfiles/support

What's up, dudes? I'm once again joined by my brother Danny to talk all about the sequel to one of the best Christmas movies ever! Yep, it's “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York”! It was a blatant cash grab from the studio. Of course, it has a phenomenal Christmas musical score, composed by the great John Williams! And who doesn't love even more over-the-top Looney Tunes-style comedy? Kevin McCallister's family is preparing to go to Florida for Christmas. When Buzz humiliates precocious little Kevin at their Christmas concert, his acting out causes his parents to banish him to the attic. One little blackout and downed phone line later, and Kevin is almost left home alone again! Luckily, he makes it to the airport. Unfortunately, he gets on the wrong plane and lands in New York City! Kevin checks into a hotel and lives it up on his dad's credit cards. The plot really kicks into gear when the Wet—no, Sticky—Bandits escape from prison and plan to rob a local toy store. With all his cunning and ingenuity–and spunk–Kevin defends his uncle's house with traps and snares, and ensures the capture of the rogues! And there's a cool pigeon lady! This one's got it all, especially quotes! My brother and I can't help ourselves! Paint cans? Check. Electrocution? Yup. Spending $967 on room service? Definitely! So grab your bricks, dip your rope in kerosene, and defend a toy store with this episode on “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York!” Dig it! Give us a buzz! Send a text, dudes!Check us out on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Totally Rad Christmas Mall & Arcade, Teepublic.com, or TotallyRadChristmas.com! Later, dudes!

Get ready for Macaulay Culkin and a small dose of Kieran Culkin. It's a beloved Christmas Classic, what can you say?Join us next week for the similarly beloved sequel, HOME ALONE 2: LOST IN NEW YORK! Rivka and Frank welcome back Evan from Left of the Projector podcast to discuss the upper-middle-class fever dream that is Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Could this movie even exist if Kevin McCallister weren't a white affluent child? Zero percent chance. The condescension, the entitlement, the PIGEON LADY. They talk about it all, plus who Mr. Duncan would have supported in the 2020 Democratic primary. Left of the Projector Party for Socialism and Liberation For next week's movie, we'll be watching the 1988 Bill Murray Christmas classic, Scrooged.
Matt's brother Elliott returns to the show to help Matt and Laci cover Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. It's 104 minutes of trying to figure out if Kevin McAllister (Macaulay Culkin) is cinema's greatest sociopath. This movie is a beloved classic to many thirtysomething adults in America, but it is a mess. Shouldn't the whole movie have taken place at the hotel? Also, adult Kevin McAllister is definitely a masculinity influencer, isn't he? Some folks think "Home Alone 2" is just the same movie again (and they're right). But to others, it's an "obscene artifact"—and a superior sequel at that. On our final episode of 2022, the gang welcomes Chelsea Jupin back to the show to chat about the beloved, Christmas cookie-cutter sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York! How successful of an arms dealer must Uncle Rob McCallister be to afford this Upper West Side townhouse? Would it have been a better movie if the hotel staff entirely replaced the Sticky Bandits? Why couldn't they mix up the story a little bit so it's not just a carbon copy of part one set in NYC? And what's with that Uncle Frank crotch comment? PLUS: Snooty UWS residents band together Spider-Man-style to fight the holiday evil that is Kevin McCallister! Home Alone 2: Lost in New York stars Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, Catherine O'Hara, John Heard, Kieran Culkin, Tim Curry, Brenda Fricker, Eddie Bracken, Dana Ivey, Sweet Robbie Schneider, and Gerry Bamman as Uncle Frank; directed by Chris Columbus.
