It's Tuesday, March 11th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Supreme Court takes case of Christian counselor vs. transgenderism The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear a Colorado case of a counselor who has been cited for counseling clients under 18 about a Biblically sound position on homosexuality and transgenderism. Alliance Defending Freedom will argue that the Colorado law violates counselor Kaley Chiles' freedom of speech. Colorado law currently allows counseling conversations that aim to steer young people towards transgenderism, but prohibits conversations that aim to help them to remain content with their God-given gender. Thus far, 26 out of 50 U.S. states have endorsed body-mutilating surgeries for children between the ages of 13 and 17. Thousand citizens and militants killed by Syrian government France 24 reports as many as a thousand citizens and militants have been killed by supporters of the new Syrian government over the last few days. Execution style murders are being conducted in the Alawite State of Northwest Syria, and some of the victims are Christians. Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa denounced the violence. Al-SHARAA (through a translator): “Anyone who commits violence against civilians will be held accountable. It is our duty to protect our compatriots.” Menacing warships from Russia, China, and Iran Eastern nations are forming closer military and political alliances as warships from Russia, China, and Iran initiated joint exercises on Monday in the Gulf of Oman. This is the fifth such drill since 2019. Dutch reject one true God, turning to false Muslim god Religious faith is declining in the Netherlands. A recent survey found only 13% of the Dutch consider themselves Protestant, and only 4% attend Protestant churches. That compares to 6% of the Dutch aligned with the Muslim religion. The study discovered that Protestants are losing adherents by a rate of 3% every decade, while the Muslims are increasing by a rate of 1% every ten years. Swiss Evangelicals drop from 34% to 3% Another survey conducted in Switzerland found only 3% of the population attend an Evangelical church. And the Evangelical population has dropped off to 19.5% of the population, down from 34% in the year 2000. Over the same period of time, the Muslim population increased from 3.6% to 6.0%. The rate of Protestants leaving the Swiss churches has topped 1.6% per year. Catholics are leaving the church at the rate of 1.2% per year. The warning from Romans 11:20 to be humble is appropriate for the Gentile nations: “Because of unbelief [the branches] were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either.” Wyoming Gov. cuts property tax 25% and bans transgender nonsense Wyoming Republican Governor Mark Gordon signed several bills mirroring the Trump agenda over the last week. He signed a bill cutting property tax by 25%, and another bill banning government programs which favor or disfavor people on the basis of religion, race, or sex. John MacArthur: “I'm on my last lap.” Pastor John MacArthur appeared on video at his Shepherd's Conference last week. The 85-year-old pastor of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California and the voice of the Grace to You radio ministry has undergone three heart surgeries and lung surgery over the last several months. He noted that he's slowly recovering strength after the ordeal. He closed his address with these words. MacARTHUR: “I realize I'm on the last lap. That takes on a new meaning when you know you're on the short end of the candle. But I am all thanks and praise to God for everything He's allowed me to be a part of and everything He's accomplished by His Word in these years of ministry. Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord, Jesus Christ.” MovieGuide affirmed best pro-family movies and actors The 2025 pro-family MovieGuide annual awards were announced last week. The most inspiring movie award went to the Catholic story of “Cabrini.” The film “Reagan” on the life of the U.S. president, received the Faith and Freedom award. The most inspiring performance of an actress went to Candace Cameron Bure, for her role in “A Christmas Less Travelled” on the Great American Family Network. And the most inspiring performance for an actor was awarded to Jesse Hutch for his role in “Christmas Under the Northern Lights.” Bitcoin down, Gold up Bitcoin has lost 22% of its value in the last month. Gold is up 4%, now hovering around $2,900 and change per ounce. The U.S. trade deficit has spiked 100% year-over-year in January, hitting a record $155 billion — which would amount to almost a $2 trillion annual deficit. Exercise helps sleep And finally, it turns out that exercise is helpful for sleeping. That's the conclusion arrived at by researchers studying a group of 2,170 people ages 60 and older. Muscle training such as lifting weights and doing pushups improved sleep scores by 5.75 points and aerobic exercise improved sleep scores by 3.76 points. 1 Timothy 4:8 reminds us that “while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Tuesday, March 11th, in the year of our Lord 2025. It's that time of year between thanksgiving and Christmas when so many of us are watching and talking about our favorite holiday movies. As with all things in life, Christians need to think differently about movies. What is it that makes a movie good? What can movies tell us about the human condition? And how can we use movies in our homes and ministries to advance the Gospel? Stick with us as we engage in a winsome, fun, and informative conversation about movies with our movie-loving friend John Perritt, on this episode of Youth Culture Matters.

We all love movies, Who doesn't love going on a cinematic adventure. One of the things i'm most excited about when it comes to becoming a dad is getting to experience all of my favorite movies with my daughter. The question is what movies will we be watching once she starts seeing more than just little color blobs on a screen. You can't just start out on Mad Max Fury Road and Human centipede, She has to be at least 10 for that, and you don't want them to only watch cartoons all day. So today we are discussing our Top 5 Non-animated Family movies. We did not share our lists beforehand and we are not experts in said category. We are just a few dudes that love talking about nonsense. The Top 5 Podcast is hosted by Zach Rancourt, Eric Schoen, and Thomas Lockhart. On this episode of The Hollywood Outsider podcast, we have three distinct topics to dive into as we revisit fun or interesting topics from the past: When To End A Franchise, What It Means To Be A Film Critic, and our 80s Family Movie Battle Royale. First, we take a look at more of these tired franchises that keep popping back up. Sure, Saw X was well-received while Expendables 4 wasn't, but did we even need to get to this point? When IS a good time to end a franchise? Also, are we – the fans – truly the problem? Next, there has much ado lately about film critics: how genuine are the reviews, should outside influences interfere with a review, how much studios interfere, etc. Well, this week, due to a recent onslaught of activity over an Amber Heard review for In the Fire, we are taking this topic head-on. Finally, we're determining which '80s family movie is the best, why we love them, and defending them with our last dying breath. Okay, maybe not that serious, but we are taking them into battle. Joined by our special Patreon guest who bought her way onto the show (yes, that is indeed a perk), Kristina Flores, the four of us each have two movies we bring to the ring and knock 'em down until we land on just one. Titles like Back to the Future, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Goonies, and E.T. – you don't want to miss out on who takes home the title AND which one landed in the listener top 10 but just wasn't good enough for us. In this episode of Family Vision, Dr. Rob Rienow is joined once again by Tim Chaffey from Answers in Genesis, the producer of the TV show, Tilt Shift, which helps families engage with media from a biblical perspective. Together, they explore how movies can be a powerful tool for sparking spiritual conversations with children of all ages. They discuss the importance of guiding media choices and how different films, like Free Guy and The Bad Guys, contain gospel themes that can lead to deeper discussions about our faith. Tim also shares examples of how even the most unexpected films, such as Kung Fu Panda and The Lord of the Rings, mirror the gospel's story arc, offering opportunities for parents to connect with their kids on a spiritual level. Topics:(PATREON EXCLUSIVE) 41-minutes discussing Madame Web: or, how movies are products to be sold, which means they are marketed, and we were not convinced the marketing had sold us on the product; an exploration on the importance of marketing; and whether someone can be critical of a film prior to having seen it. (PATREON EXCLUSIVE)Shirleon read the book, so Melvin asks a few questions about that. There's just a lot about Holes that works on a fundamental level, and it makes the film an enjoyable watch.Shirleon & Melvin both observe a comfortability in the film to showcase and explore mature, hard themes while remaining accessible to a family audience.Shirleon gives a more specific compare-and-contrast between the book and film. The legalistic metaphor of perpetual, listless hole-digging contrasted against deep-and-dynamic characters.Shirleon & Melvin agree; all the Sam and Kathryn flashbacks were stellar.Discussing and contrasting the two curses.Recommendations:Buy Lego! “I am a star. I'm a star. I'm a big, bright shining star. That's right.” (re-zips his pants) Boogie Nights was only Paul Thomas Anderson's second film, but the story of an up-and-coming star in the waning days of the porn industry on film is exceedingly confident especially for a director in his 20s. Clint, Cal and Alex talk about the stacked cast that might be the best ensemble ever assembled, the origin of the most hilarious subgenre (the “horny boy movie") and why this movie about sex is not about sex at all. Meanwhile, Dan's algorithm can do it again if you need a close up. CineFix Top 100 was created by Clint Gage and Dan Parkhurst and is produced by Tayo Oyekan, with Director of Photography, Jamie Parslow and Technical Producer, Marhyan Franzen. Welcome to another captivating episode of our podcast! In today's show, we're joined by the remarkable Howlin Davis, a genealogy enthusiast with an extraordinary story to share. After tuning into one of our newsletters, Howlin revealed his unique tale of rediscovery. His journey began with an unexpected phone call that led him to a treasure trove of lost family memories captured in old film reels.Approximately 11 months ago, Howlin received a mysterious call asking if he was related to someone involved with the New York Stock Exchange. This call was the key to unlocking a series of family films dating back to the 1940s. These films, mistakenly believed to be related to the Stock Exchange, were actually personal family movies, showcasing scenes of New York City, Boston, and upstate New York.In this episode, Howlin takes us through the emotional journey of discovering these films. He explains his meticulous process of documenting each frame, revealing not just images but stories of his ancestors – his young parents, grandparents, and even family friends. Happy New Year!! GMTD is back with a truly psychotic film, “The Proud Family Movie.” Thank GOD we have Damon Royster here to help us make sense of the madness! This ain't the TV show, let's just say THAT. But if you love peanuts, boy are you in for a the ride of your life. It would be easier to say what this movie DOESN'T have, but just to whet your appetite, there's a secret formula used in a “pork-nut”, a mad scientist who's building an army of peanut people, a rapper named 15 Cent, a dance crew of 16-year-olds trying to “crunk”, CLONES, a horny Sugar Mama (which is the best part), and a gun that turns peanuts into peanut butter. This one is just cuckoo! Also, WHERE was the Destiny's Child theme song featuring Solange??? Blasphemy! Enjoyyyyyyyy
Today we are excited to share with you some of our favorite childhood movies, as well as some of the movies we plan on showing to our children. As you know, we are screen free in our normal life. However, maybe once every two months, we do a family movie night. We do have a running list of what we are going to watch with our children. We will also share some of the movies that have impacted our life as adults that we may or may not show to our children. Something we look for in a movie are the family relationships. Something can be rated G and totally be undermining the family culture and values we want to put into our children. When we think of anything our children are consuming, we are thinking - What are the ideas that they are cultivating from this? Are they getting new ideas that are inspirational, shaping their moral character, giving them vision for the future or are these ideas corrupting, corroding or just zapping their brains with nothing worthwhile in the film? Unfortunately, there is a lot of stupidity in children's media. Here is the list of movies we talk about in today's podcast:Elisha:- The Sound of Music- The Happiest Millionaire - Swiss Family Robinson (1960 Disney version)Katie:- Seven Brides for Seven Brothers- Hayley Mills films: - The Parent Trap (1961) - Pollyanna (1960) - That Darn Cat!
