Fall In Love Alone – Stacey Ryan
Back to, if not earth, then at least the lower stratospheres with a considerable bump. We look back on a chastening evening at Hampden.
In this message Pastor Fran speaks of the primacy of love, and love alone, in our thinking about God and our life in Christ. It is a love that never shuts the gates, it always forgives, and it vanquishes the darkness.
More than love is needed to have a healthy marriage.
In the complex web of human relationships, the question often arises: *Is love alone enough?* This query, although seemingly simple, dives into the heart of our deepest longings and vulnerabilities. The notion that love is the ultimate solution in relationships may appear as a comforting ideal, yet, as we explore deeper, it becomes apparent that love, in its most genuine form, demands far more than mere sentimentality. As the questions posed in this discourse suggest, true love is multifaceted and calls for a profound understanding of self, others, and the world around us.

ABOUT THIS SERIES: The questions about life and faith are becoming increasingly complex. So, when Christians try to simplify it to “Well, the Bible says it. I believe it. That settles it”, we tend to close more doors than we open. What if we got honest about our questions? What if we would think deeply about the things of God and what if our theology was based on Jesus and not the shifting wind of the culture? Big Idea: Love alone is stronger than death. John 15:9-17 Love alone is stronger than death. 1. Love unites eternally. John 15:9-10As the Father has loved me, I have also loved you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commands you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands and remain in his love. 2. Love delights fully. John 15: 11 I have told you these things so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.3. Love sacrifices willingly. 3. Love sacrifices willingly. John 15: 12-17 This is my command: Love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this: to lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I do not call you servants anymore, because a servant doesn't know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything I have heard from my Father. You did not choose me, but I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce fruit and that your fruit should remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give you. “This is what I command you: Love one another.” Next Steps: I need Jesus's sacrifice to set me free from sin today. I will love sacrificially this week.

Sofia and Adrianna have a conversation about the virtues of a childlike heart, from their respective perspectives as developmental neuroscientist and mother of two. How does a child face reality? What can children teach us about freedom, prayer, and gladness? What helps us, personally, as we try to grow in childlikeness? Our weekly challenge is to pay attention to the children around you and observe how they engage reality with wonder, openness, and dependence. And our media recommendation is the movie Groundhog Day. With Dr. Larry Chapp Ph.D., we discuss Balthasar's expression of the Petrine and Marian dimensions of the Church and that Marian subjectivity is the superior principle that fosters a life of interior holiness. This is exemplified by the contemplatives who fuel the heartbeat of the Church. This leads to a discussion on the contribution of women in the theological heart of the Church. Adrienne von Speyr and the misrepresentation some critics place on her collaboration with Balthasar is addressed by Dr. Chapp. He highlights the importance of Sacred Scripture in all of Balthasar's teachings. With Dr. Larry Chapp Ph.D., we begin with a conversation on Hans Urs von Balthasar and his theological significance. While giving an overview of the book, the essential premise is discussed. What makes the towering figure of Christ self-authenticating, self-justifying is that it is the unsurpassable revelation of love in its essence and its core. The importance of mysticism to the contribution of theology is also addressed.
