SIL Landscape: Challenges and IssuesA significant challenge for SIL providers is the increasing difficulty in matching participants to vacancies for sustainable, long-term placements. Many providers lack the resources or contacts with other SIL providers or support coordinators to effectively find suitable participants for their vacancies.Providers face substantial financial pressure when vacancies exist, especially when they have multiple SIL houses but only one resident, making it difficult to maintain financial viability.Incorrect support ratios (e.g., a participant funded at a one-to-two or one-to-three ratio but requiring more intensive support) lead to providers operating at a loss.Directors of SIL providers are experiencing stress due to:Insufficient participant placements compared to available facilities, leading to houses with low occupancy.Mismatched funding ratios, forcing providers to operate at a loss when the actual support needs exceed the funded ratio.Rushed or hospital discharge scenarios becoming concerning trend:Providers are reluctantly transferring participants to hospitals, often as a "social admission," when funding or staffing is inadequate to safely support them in the SIL environment. This is particularly prevalent when participants are not funded for the supports needed to ensure their own safety, that of their housemates, or support workers. This practice, though undesirable, is sometimes the only way to prompt a timely review of home & living decisions by the NDIS.Importance of correct ratios in funding and service delivery is critical:SIL funding is strictly capped at the approved ratio in the participant's plan, meaning providers cannot claim for support exceeding this ratio, even if more intensive care (e.g., one-on-one 24/7 support) is required.Providers often operate at a loss when providing additional support that exceeds approved ratios, as they can only claim for the funded ratioSignificant communication gap exists between support coordinators and NDIS planners regarding market realities:Planners often lack direct insight into the day-to-day challenges faced by SIL providers and the realities of the housing market, relying on anecdotal reports rather than direct observation.Funding cuts directly impact both service quality & provider financial viability, yet planners making these decisions may not fully grasp the on-the-ground consequences for providers & participants--------------Send us a textNDIS PROPERTY AUSTRALIA:Our team conducts thorough research on Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) and provides appropriate technical advice through premium and strategy-based solutions. We have all been there... life gets hard and complicated, and we feel like giving up. We feel totally insufficient to face the day. It must have felt that way for Ruth and Naomi as they faced a famine, as well as the death of Naomi's husband and both sons, and the death of Ruth's husband. Join us as Pastor Dave looks at the sufficiency of God working in the lives of Ruth and Naomi through a kinsman redeemer named Boaz, reminding us of our all-sufficient Kinsman Redeemer Jesus Christ.

Identity is the root cause of over 70% of all security incidents, yet many organizations still rely on fundamentally flawed authentication methods. In this episode, Jasson Casey, CEO and co-founder of Beyond Identity, explains why even common forms of MFA are insufficient and why any system that relies on a "secret moving" is vulnerable to attack. The conversation dives deep into the architectural shift needed to truly secure identity: moving from probabilistic tools to deterministic proof. Jasson breaks down how to leverage the hardware-backed secure enclaves (like TPMs and the Secure Enclave) that already exist in our devices to create un-phishable, device-bound credentials that can't be stolen or copied. We also explore how this approach provides a necessary defense against the next wave of AI-enabled threats, including deepfakes and hyper-realistic social engineering attacks that will make it nearly impossible for humans to spot the difference.Guest Socials - Jasson's LinkedinPodcast Twitter - @CloudSecPod If you want to watch videos of this LIVE STREAMED episode and past episodes - Check out our other Cloud Security Social Channels:-Cloud Security Podcast- Youtube- Cloud Security Newsletter - Cloud Security BootCampIf you are interested in AI Cybersecurity, you can check out our sister podcast - AI Cybersecurity PodcastQuestions asked:(00:00) Introduction(02:10) Who is Jasson Casey?(04:00) What is the 2025 Version of IAM?(07:15) Why Hasn't The Identity Problem Been Solved?(08:00) The Fundamental Flaw: Relying on Secrets That Move(10:00) The Solution: Un-phishable, Hardware-Backed Identity(12:15) Why Your Current MFA is Insufficient and Easily Exploited(14:42) The Apple Pay Analogy: How Secure Identity Already Works in Your Pocket(18:58) The "Aha!" Since January, the United States' migrant detention and deportation system, which was already troubled, has become increasingly opaque. Access to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities is restricted, internal oversight agencies have been hollowed out, and credible information about conditions inside is scarce. Yet reports that have emerged, some from those who have recently been deported, tell a troubling story echoing the darkest moments of recent U.S. immigration history. In late July and early August, researchers from WOLA and the Women's Refugee Commission (WRC) set out to pierce this “black box” by visiting cities in Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico that are key deportation hubs. There, they interviewed deported migrants, service providers, advocates, experts, and government officials to learn what they are hearing about conditions in U.S. detention. The findings are disturbing. They point to a resurgence of family separations, cruel treatment, miserable, unhealthy conditions, and deportation processes that violate migrants' rights and dignity. With transparency mechanisms dismantled, these abuses are happening out of public view. In this episode, host Adam Isacson talks with two colleagues from WRC with whom he traveled: Zain Lakhani, WRC's director of Migrant Rights and Justice. Diana Flórez, a consultant to WRC, an attorney and expert on gender, transitional justice, development, and peacebuilding. During their travels, Isacson, Lakhani, and Flórez shared photos and initial findings in four “dispatches” published to our organizations' websites, from Honduras, Guatemala, Tapachula, and Ciudad Juárez. We heard consistent accounts of: Family separations: A larger number than expected of parents deported without U.S. citizen children, often without being given the choice of being removed with them. The crisis is approaching the scale of the “zero tolerance” family separations that shocked the nation in 2018. Inhumane conditions: Overcrowded cells, lack of medical care, and verbal and physical abuse by guards. Threats to the health of pregnant and lactating women and their children: Insufficient and poor-quality food, difficulty in obtaining medical attention, and even being forced to sleep on floors. (The podcast refers to a July 30 report on abuse in detention, especially of pregnant women and children, by the office of Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Georgia).) Targeting of vulnerable populations: Harassment of LGBTQ+ individuals, especially trans individuals who are now detained with the gender to which they were assigned at birth. As Lakhani notes, “Historically… we were able to enter detention centers and visit them and speak with migrants,” but “now we're seeing the deliberate creation of a black box.” We hope that the WOLA–WRC delegation's findings will guide future, more intensive on-the-ground research enabling advocates to refer egregious abuses requiring legal action, build a rigorous archive of known cases, and inform public opinion and policymakers.

They start by trying to wrap our heads around what a probability really means. Cole introduces us to a recent and attention-grabbing paper on a potential biosignature in the atmosphere of an exoplanet, with lots of statistics along the way. Then, Cormac brings up some counterpoints to this detection. In July of 2009 a firefighter from the Scottish Fire Service died after becoming disoriented and trapped, running out of air during a complex firefight in a local Pub with apartments above. During the fire numerous rescues were performed with portable and aerial ladders due to the smoke filled hallway and single stairway. Insufficient staffing, a well involved cellar fire and lack of pre-plans and a 360 contributed to this incident.

Short term weight loss sounds great BUT it's not all fat – it's muscle! Muscle will be much harder to regain as we age because of anabolic resistance.. Clothes might feel loose and you get weight loss compliments. But short term weight loss is just giving a “false positive” honeymoon period. This might mean you divorced muscle, the love of your life. 1. Muscle Mass Loss (Sarcopenia) Protein Deficiency Protein is essential for building and maintaining muscle tissue. Insufficient protein intake exacerbates muscle atrophy and increases the risk of falls and injuries. Excessive Cardio Prolonged cardio can lead to a breakdown of muscle tissue for energy, particularly if glycogen stores are depleted. This can worsen age-related muscle loss and counteract maintaining strength and function. 2. Bone Health (Osteoporosis) Protein Deficiency Protein is needed for bone health and bone density. Inadequate protein intake, especially after menopause, increases the risk of osteoporosis and fractures. Osteoporosis Risks After menopause, risk of osteoporosis increases due to declining estrogen levels and can weaken bones prone to fracture. Sarcopenia and Osteoporosis Link Having both increases the risk of falls and fractures. Poor nutrition leads to sarcopenic obesity and increases the risk of osteoporosis. 3. Other Negative Effects Reduced Physical Function Since inadequate protein leads to muscle loss, this reduces strength, impaired balance, and decreased ability to perform daily activities. Slow-Healing Injuries Protein repairs tissues. Deficiency can slow wound healing and recovery from injuries. Weakened Immune Function Amino acids from protein build antibodies and maintain a healthy immune system. Low protein intake can lead to frequent illnesses and infections. Potential Cardiac Issues (Excessive Cardio) Associated with potential adverse cardiac effects, such as myocardial fibrosis and an increased risk of atrial fibrillation, in some individuals. Musculoskeletal Injuries (Excessive Cardio) Increases the risk of musculoskeletal issues like osteoarthritis and stress fractures. What Can You Do Instead of A Short Term Weight Loss Recommendations: Prioritize protein intake with 30 grams each meal. Balance cardio and strength training to build and maintain muscle mass. Listen to your body and avoid pushing yourself too hard or engaging in prolonged, strenuous exercise if it causes excessive fatigue or pain. Finding God's grace in the face of suffering and adversity
Discover how to overcome your natural biology to resist movement pattern changes in rowing technique. Timestamps 01:00 A coach was frustrated his athletes forget from one workout to the next. The cause is not necessary wilful, it's not your coaching skill - it's biology. We are hard wired to keep to the muscle memory we already have. Rowing Muscle Memory and neural pathways The solution is multiple repetitions of a drill during an outing is important. Your brain prioritises familiar patterns when under stress. Automaticity means we revert back under pressure. - Insufficient repetitions is the solution. The challenge here is inconsistent reinforcement - if you can self-coach this can help. Understand what the coach is teaching - ask questions. Provide drills to the athlete to isolate or exaggerate the movement you are teaching. Increase stroke rate or the power through the water to test your skill under pressure. Cognitive overload leads to frustration The solution here is to practice both thinking and doing. Row for 10 strokes without thinking about anything. During those strokes the athlete is maintaining the new movement pattern. Check after 10 strokes if you are doing it right - if not, adjust and do 10 stroke more not thinking. 05:00 The competence model of unconscious competence is your goal. Train yourself by managing your cognitive overload. The challenge is you can think you are regressing because it feels different and awkward. Learn to overcome this to achieve the end goal. 06:00 Athlete receptiveness You must test your skill under pressure with increasing challenge so that when you're at your most pressurised in a race you are also tired and stressed yet you maintain the technique. Fear of failure as the new technique is untested. Overcoming this is hard - athletes try hard to perform well. Poor communication undermines an athlete's ability to take up what you're trying to teach. Explain what you're trying to do and why as well as how to do it. Peer Pressure - the difference between style and technique. If a leader in the group disagrees they can refuse to change and if you're following someone who is rowing differently it's hard. This requires a different intervention. Ask me if you need this. 09:30 How to coach change and prevent reversion Approach the change in micro steps. Take a small first step - do the drill in a stable boat with others sitting it level, isolate part of the stroke, row one person at a time. External cues - can you use video, physical markers, feel, or hearing to assess when you are getting it right? Train under duress - make it harder for yourself progressively by adding duress to test your skill. Accountability - crew feedback by asking others if you are doing it right. Agree together to be accountable. Gain buy-in as a coach so the athletes trust that your teaching will be beneficial. Explaining the why. Normalise the struggle - we are on a journey seeking the perfect stroke. We are in this together.
In this encore episode, we detail the cellular make-up of the gastric lining, highlighting hydrochloric acid (HCl) secretion and its role in digestion, micronutrient absorption, and microbial defense. We discuss potential pathophysiological consequences of hypochlorhydria, including impaired digestive signaling, bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine (SIBO), and more. Lastly, we detail upstream microbial control, focusing on the influence of the oral microbiome and oral dysbiosis.Topics: 1. Introduction- Highlighting the stomach and hypochlorhydria / low stomach acid, as well as microbial balance, dysbiosis, and overgrowth.- Discussion of intestinal microbiome and oral microbiome. 2. Insufficient. Unable. Incapable. These are all words that describe how we feel as followers of Christ from time to time. We all struggle with that nagging feeling that we're just not enough for the God that we serve. Today Pastor Ricky draws out a wonderful parallel in the story of The Feeding of the 5000. The truth is we are insufficient, unable, and incapable but the God that we serve is not. He can take the little that we are and multiply us to bring Himself glory.

Story at-a-glance Osteoarthritis results from cartilage deterioration due to genetic, metabolic and inflammatory factors, causing bone friction, pain, stiffness and bone spur formation that impair joint function Studies show boosting vitamin K2 intake supports joint health by regulating calcium metabolism, reducing inflammation, boosting cartilage integrity and activating proteins like GPX4 to protect cartilage cells from damage Elevated levels of vitamin K-dependent proteins like Gla-rich protein (GRP) and matrix Gla protein (MGP) in osteoarthritic joints suggest their protective role against harmful calcium deposits and their use as diagnostic markers Insufficient vitamin K impairs protein activation, allowing calcification, inflammation and cartilage damage to progress unchecked, exacerbating osteoarthritis symptoms and joint degeneration Increasing vitamin K2 intake through foods, supplements and healthy lifestyle changes offers a powerful approach to preserving joint health, reducing inflammation and slowing osteoarthritis progression
How do you respond when faced with circumstances that seem impossible? Do you immediately begin to question the goodness of God and why He even allowed a struggle in your life to begin with? Well, today Pastor Ricky shares that learning to see your circumstances through the lens of an all-powerful God is key to seeing God move. It begins with believing that you, in and of yourself, are insufficient. You need God to move on your behalf. That kind of faith will move the heart of God.
There's a really big difference between wondering whether God can do something and declaring that He can't do something. Today you learn that God has pretty broad shoulders. He can take your doubts. The important distinction is to not allow your doubts to turn into unbelief, where you simply believe that God can't do something. Pastor Ricky will share that God is so, so sufficient while we are completely insufficient. This helps us to see our great need for God and to depend only on Him.
Max gives and update on the Learjet crash in Scottsdale and the crash of a Cirrus SR22 in Santa Barbara. He also analyzes the crash of N2UZ, a Bonanza B35B, which suffered an engine failure at 7,500 feet while flying over Virginia. The well-trained pilot attempted to glide to Charlottesville Airport (KCHO) but crashed in a wooded area just beyond a 3,000-foot-long field. ADS-B data shows that the aircraft's10.2:1 glide ratio was insufficient to reach the airport from its initial altitude. He discusses factors that could have altered the outcome, including diverting to Snow Hill, a private 2,200-foot grass strip within possible gliding range, or choosing a higher cruising altitude to increase the glide distance. The episode emphasizes the importance of proactive flight planning, including staying within glide range of an airport, using avionics tools like glide range rings, and making early decisions when faced with an emergency. Suggestions for improved safety include better route planning, considering altitude selection, and advocating for EFB applications to incorporate flight planning tools that maintain energy cones. Two factors drive food aggression in horses. The first factor is the foraging behavior created by converting fructose into uric acid. The purpose of fructose is to prepare horses for the upcoming winter. However, not only is it fed throughout the year, but the high-sugar foods being fed cause horses to make more fructose. The second factor is stated in the protein leverage hypothesis, which says that humans (and all animals) will continue to look for food until they consume their daily amino acid requirements. Insufficient high-quality protein in horse diets drives horses to continue eating beyond their caloric needs. ********** TheHorsesAdvocate.com is a website for learning about horses, horse barns, and farms.
