It's World Sickle Cell Day, and the NHS Modernisation Bill, which proposes a single patient record bringing together a patient's full medical history in one place, has just reached committee stage in Parliament. In this episode, we speak with Professor Arlene Wellman MBE: a senior nurse leader and strategic adviser at the Florence Nightingale Foundation with over 27 years' experience across the NHS, and the first internationally educated nurse to serve as a Group Chief Nurse. She's also the mother of a son living with sickle cell disorder. We talk about what it's like to repeatedly explain a chronic condition mid-crisis, the gaps in NHS information-sharing that can cost real harm, and whether the single patient record will actually reach the people who need it most, the ambulance crew at 2am, the unfamiliar A&E department, the moment when missing information is the difference between fast treatment and dangerous delay.Guest: Professor Arlene Wellman MBE, Florence Nightingale FoundationWelcome to The Marvyn Harrison Podcast — a story-driven conversation exploring identity, fatherhood, masculinity, relationships, culture, politics, sport, and modern life.In each episode, Marvyn Harrison sits down with leading thinkers, creatives, athletes, policymakers, and cultural voices to unpack the defining moments that shaped them. In this episode of the International Enneagram Association podcast, we listen to conversations from three small groups that attended last year's IEA Conference in Minneapolis. We hear how each group met through the Enneagram – many of them meeting in person for the first time at the conference. Sara Moore and Tamra Evangelista discuss how they help each other navigate being Type Threes. David Schultz and Ali McGhee share their first impressions of the IEA conference and how they think the Enneagram can change people's lives. The Soul Sisters – that include Ann Wellman, Susan Hansch, Amy McCabe, Lisa Herman – have met once a month after initially attending Russ Hudson's Enneagram for Conscious Living Class in 2021. While this group represents a diversity of Enneagram types, they reveal how they've created an authentic safe space that supports each other's work.Connect with us:Web: internationalenneagram.orgIEA Enneagram Experience 2025: ieaexperience.comJoin the email list: administration@internationalenneagram.orgSara Moore:LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/saraamooreThe Art of Growth episode: Enneagram Type 3 Panel- Driven to DrawnTamra Evangelista:Web: innerdepthscoaching.comIG: @inner_depths_coachingThe Art of Growth episode: Enneagram Type 3 Panel- Driven to DrawnAnn Wellman:Web: longbeachcommunitytheater.comFB: Ann Van WellmanSusan Hansch:Web: deepcoachinginstitute.comLinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/susan-m-hansch-96b909248Amy McCabe:Web: mccabecoaching.comIG: @mccabecoachingAli McGhee:Web: alimcgheewrites.comIG: @hoodoo.alphabetSeth "Creek" Creekmore: IG: @_creekmorePod: Fathoms | An Enneagram PodcastPod: Awareness to Action Enneagram PodcastPod: Delusional Optimism with Dr. BLindsey Marks:IG: @lindseyfaithdmPod: Fathoms | An Enneagram PodcastLee Fields:Web: enneagrammatic.comIG: @enneagrammaticSeth Abram:IG: @integratedenneagramPod: Fathoms | An Enneagram PodcastFlemming Christensen:Web: flemmingchristensen.comTrainings: flemmingchristensen.com/trainingThe Enneagram Life Theme: flemmingchristensen.com/enneagram-life-theme.htmlBook: “The Enneagram and why your blind type matters”IG: @flemmingchristensencomFB: Flemming ChristensenLinkedIn: Flemming Christensen

Sprawdź suplementy od Nikalab i użyj kodu KAROL by otrzymać rabat. https://nikalab.pl/karol [współpraca reklamowa]

rWotD Episode 3238: Speculations: An Essay on the Theater Welcome to random Wiki of the Day, your journey through Wikipedia's vast and varied content, one random article at a time. The random article for Monday, 16 March 2026, is Speculations: An Essay on the Theater."Speculations: An Essay on the Theater" is a treatise by experimental playwright Mac Wellman. It was published with the collection of plays entitled The Difficulty of Crossing a Field (University of Minnesota Press, 2008). It is also available, with additional material not included in the book, on Wellman's website (see link below). The treatise is written in an eccentric style which, at times, reads like a series of aphorisms. Nevertheless, in its totality it presents a vision for contemporary theater which is both cohesive and profound, and which constitutes a radical departure from the Aristotelian paradigm that dominates mainstream theater today, where plot and character are central to the drama. As such, Speculations constitutes a critique of mainstream theater, but it also offers alternatives. It looks at the nature of time and space; the transfer of energy between people, places, and things; the unlimited potential inherent in the present moment; the subjective nature of experience; and discusses the implications of these things for the way we do theater. In the course of his discussion, Wellman alludes to scientific developments which have influenced his understanding of the creative process, such as relativity, chaos theory, and fractal theory. He also makes connections between experimental theater and religious ceremony, both of which seek to plumb the depths of human potential in search of “epiphanies” -- moments of personal revelation or insight which are, for Wellman, the highest object of the theatrical experience.Wellman has received extensive recognition for his work over the last thirty years, including grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and three Obies (Off-Broadway Theater Awards), the most recent of which was a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003.This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:14 UTC on Monday, 16 March 2026.For the full current version of the article, see Speculations: An Essay on the Theater on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm generative Kajal.

Reformed theology has become increasingly influential among younger Christians—but many still struggle to understand what it actually teaches and whether it reflects Scripture faithfully. In this episode, Rowan Miller and Pastor Don Patterson are joined by college senior Noah Miller to examine the Calvinist and Arminian perspectives on salvation. The conversation unpacks the TULIP framework, discusses preaching influences like Tim Keller and John Piper, and explores difficult questions surrounding election, atonement, assurance, and human responsibility. Along the way, the group reflects on mentorship, accountability, and how theological convictions shape real-world faith—especially during major life transitions like college and early adulthood. This episode is designed for listeners who want clarity, not slogans—and who are willing to think carefully about what they believe and why. Evangelicalism is not new in American political life. But the second Trump administration coincides with a surprising development in the role of Christian faith in the nation's politics. The once fringe notion of Christian Nationalism now sits squarely at the point of intersection of American culture, politics and the economy. Danny Hoffman, Director of the Jackson School of International Studies, interviews Jim Wellman, Professor and former Chair of the UW's Comparative Religion Program, which is housed in the Jackson School, on what Christian Nationalism means and the tensions it creates in faith communities and secular politics. Wellman's latest book is "High on God: How Megachurches Won a Nation," published by Oxford University Press in February 2020. Recorded Nov. 7, 2025
Join hosts Don Patterson and Rowan Miller on Relish as they explore what it means to trust God, accept a calling, and live out faith in everyday life. In this episode they discuss why many churches meet on Sunday mornings, the biblical roots of worship timing, and contemporary approaches churches use to reach visitors and form deeper discipleship rhythms. Don and Rowan dig into Scripture—Acts 1 and Philippians 2—to reflect on Jesus' humanity and divinity, the incarnation, and how Christ's humility models Christian service. Through personal stories, the hosts share moments when they trusted God: stepping into podcasting, accepting unexpected pastoral roles at Kelowna Mennonite, and stretching into mission work and public speaking. The conversation turns practical and pastoral: the importance of saying yes to God's nudges, finding mentors, and how giftedness and God's equipping often unfold over time. They also address the consequences of denying a call, the need to confess and move forward, and the joy and growth that come from obedience. Listeners will also hear a sober reminder about global church challenges—leadership shortages and persecution, with a spotlight on ministry work in Nigeria and the Anabaptist Peace Center—and an invitation to support leaders and ministries in need. Whether you're discerning a call, leading a congregation, or simply curious about Christian vocation, this episode offers scripture-rich reflection, real-life testimony, and encouragement to say yes to where God is leading. Relish pleasing or zestful flavor — a quantity just sufficient to flavor to be pleased or gratified by enjoy. Welcome back to another episode of Relish. Host Rowan Miller is joined by Pastor Don Patterson for a warm, conversational look at spiritual life, memory, and how faith shapes what we do. We begin with a personal chat about ways of reading the Bible: community reading plans, working through devotionals, and how approaches change over time. Rowan and Don compare starting points (why beginning at Genesis can feel strange for new readers and why starting in John or using a devotional is often helpful) and reflect on how regular Bible reading has grown in their own lives. The main focus is the Fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5:22 — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith (faithfulness), gentleness, and self-control — with a deep dive into faith itself. Don highlights the Greek nuance (the list includes distinct Greek words, and the entry translated as “faithfulness” is the word for faith) and turns to Hebrews 11 to let Scripture define faith: "being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see." The hosts walk through Hebrews 11 examples — Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Joseph, Moses — and draw out what each life demonstrates about faith in action. Key highlights include how faith moves people to act beyond reason: Noah building an ark for a coming flood he'd never seen, Abraham leaving his homeland at God's call, and believers today stepping into new ministries or life-change despite uncertainty and possible ridicule. The conversation connects these biblical examples to practical hopes — renewal in local communities, fresh works of the Spirit, lives being changed, and the way transformed people can inspire others. Rowan and Don also reflect on generational dynamics, mentorship, and the joy of sharing faith stories that spark curiosity and renewal. Listeners are invited to share the episode and become part of the ministry's aim: to help one another grow deeper in knowing God and responding to His call. Stay tuned for the next episode in the Fruits of the Spirit series. In this episode of Relish, hosts Rowan Miller and Don Patterson open with a lighthearted conversation about favorite Bible characters — with Joseph and his coat of many colors serving as a springboard to discuss forgiveness and family dynamics. From there they move into a deeper biblical and historical conversation about the differences between the Old and New Testaments, and what those differences mean for understanding God's character and the person of Jesus. The hosts explain how the Old Testament sets the stage with numerous messianic prophecies and how the New Testament culminates that story in Christ. They emphasize that God's character does not change between Testaments, but that Jesus brings the Old Testament teachings into an intimate, first-person relationship (highlighted by passages such as John 13 and John 15). The episode covers the approximately 400-year period between Malachi and the first Gospel writer, describing it as a time of prophetic silence that prepared Israel for the coming of Christ. Roan and Don discuss extra-biblical writings from that era (including references to the apocryphal Book of Enoch and recommendations for Michael Heiser's scholarship) and note how Roman infrastructure, language, and reach helped Christianity spread rapidly once it began. Practical pastoral concerns are also addressed: what it means to "speak the truth in love" (Ephesians 4), the necessity of deep relationships to make corrective truth meaningful, and the role of church leaders in guiding those conversations. The hosts use real-life anecdotes and pastoral illustrations to show how truth-telling requires both courage and care. They also tackle the harder topic of sin and discipline, using the Old Testament story of Achan to illustrate God's decisive response to disobedience and to argue for the continuing need to confront sin in the church. Personal stories about parental discipline and pastoral preaching underscore the emotional and spiritual weight of these issues. The episode wraps up with lighter holiday banter — Black Friday, shopping online, and well-wishes for listeners — and a closing invitation to share the ministry. Overall, listeners can expect a balanced mix of biblical teaching, historical context, pastoral application, and warm conversational moments from Rowan and Don. Join hosts Rowan Miller, Don Patterson and Marcus Miller for a wide-ranging, candid episode of Relish that explores how Christians can talk across political and cultural divides with respect. The conversation opens with a personal story about a university professor who appeared on a conservative "watch list," the threats that followed, and the missed opportunity for real dialogue — a springboard into larger concerns about polarization in American public life and the church. The hosts reflect on practical ways to have better conversations: distinguishing arguments from personal attacks, rekindling biblical literacy, and modeling respectful disagreement. They quote Luke 4 and the Sermon on the Mount as reminders of the church's call to care for the poor, lift the oppressed, and hold a faith that speaks to social concerns without becoming merely partisan. Generational change is a major theme. The episode contrasts older patterns of institutional church life with Gen Z's different expressions of faith — decentralized communities, new worship forms (including music and online platforms), and a surge in Bible interest — while asking how discipleship, mentoring, and tangible care for neighbors can follow. The hosts celebrate young people's passion while wrestling with how to translate energy into sustainable social action. Practical parish stories illustrate the point: challenges keeping institutional events and volunteer leadership alive, the end of long-standing fundraisers, and hopeful examples like meat canning and new evening services focused on Scripture, praise, prayer and healing. The dialogue emphasizes that the church can evolve its practices to better serve mission and community needs. Throughout, Rowan, Don and Marcus offer wisdom about navigating disagreement within congregations, renewing mission focus, and creating intergenerational relationships that foster discipleship. They invite listeners to suggest guests and topics and close with an encouragement to share the podcast and support the ministry's goal: helping people grow deeper in their understanding of God and his calling in daily life. Relish returns with a special edition conversation about faith, culture, and the often-overlooked language of dress. Hosts Don Patterson and Rowan sit down with longtime Hillcrest history teacher and coach Marcus Miller to explore how clothing, customs, and community expectations have signaled belief across generations — and what that looks like today. The episode opens with warmth and anecdote: Marcus brings his grandfather's transition coat — a garment that marks the shift between Amish and conservative Mennonite dress — and recounts family and school memories from Iowa Mennonite School (now Hillcrest). The trio traces historical changes in plain dress, school rules about ties and coverings, and surprising student reactions to questions about feeling different as Mennonites across the decades. Rooted in Scripture, the discussion centers on Romans 12:1–2 (nonconformity and transformation) and spills into Matthew 5–7 and the fruits of the Spirit. The guests wrestle with legalism versus heartfelt worship, asking whether outward dress still matters, when it rightly communicates faith, and how external signals compare to the ongoing, often fuzzy work of spiritual action and character. Through stories — from boys in IMS letter jackets to choir tie rules, to the practical question of whether ministers should wear collars in places like prisons — the episode balances history, theology, and practical counsel. Listeners will hear perspectives on modesty, generational shifts (including modern trends in clergy attire and Gen Z expectations), and concrete spiritual practices that make a witness beyond clothing: living the Sermon on the Mount, cultivating the fruits of the Spirit, and allowing transformed actions to speak as loudly as any uniform. Expect a reflective, anecdote-rich conversation that connects family memory and church policy to broader questions about identity, witness, and cultural adaptation. Whether you're curious about Mennonite history, pastoral practice, or how to live out nonconformity in a messy world, this episode offers stories, scripture, and practical prompts to help add a little spice to your spiritual life. Join hosts Don Patterson and Roan Miller for a warm, candid episode of Relish that blends humor, personal stories, and practical theology. They kick off with morning devotion habits and a lighthearted quiz game, reflect on a 50th high school reunion, and answer the simple but profound question: Who is Jesus? Expect laughter, memory lapses, and heartfelt testimony about faith lived out. The conversation moves into deeper territory on how Christians should speak into one another's lives. Don explores biblical foundations for confronting sin and calling friends to growth, referencing Ephesians and Paul's counsel in 2 Corinthians about godly sorrow that leads to repentance. They discuss the balance of speaking truth in love, the responsibilities of close fellowship, and the importance of sharpening one another as the body of Christ. Listeners will also hear a thoughtful comparison of Amish and Mennonite practice and belief — from the Schleitheim Confession and the use of the ban (excommunication) to differences in emphasis on outward customs versus inward spirituality. Don explains why some Amish are adopting English Bibles to better understand Scripture, and why both communities prize the Word of God. Throughout the episode you'll get down-to-earth pastoral insight, practical takeaways for friendship and church life, and an open invitation: the hosts offer to come speak and take questions at local churches. Expect a blend of story, Scripture, and hospitality — the kind of conversation that aims to add a little spice to your life and deepen your walk with God. Timothy Lee Wellman is a predator caught in a Polk County, Florida investigation of Takedown with Chris Hansen. Wellman had been communicating with a decoy posing as a fourteen-year-old girl. Immediately after learning of her age, Wellman asked for pictures of her. He told he decoy that as long as she was "cool" and he wasn't in danger from law enforcement, he was fine with her age. When the decoy told him that she was not a virgin, Wellman said, "Guess nobody has ever ate you up and wore you out. I can eat pussy for days." Timothy Wellman drove around the block several times before deputies apprehended him at his vehicle. He was led into the sting house in handcuffs, greeted by Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd saying, "Welcome to Polk County." During the drive to the sting house, Wellman had been on the phone with his two young children because he "wanted them to tell [him] good night." In the interview with Chris Hansen, Wellman said that he was looking for "conversation, mainly." He stated that he wanted to take the decoy out to eat, but Chris responded, "Sounds like you came over here to eat something different." Chis asked him what he meant when he said in the chat that he wanted to "eat [the decoy's] a**." Wellman clarified that he did not intend on having oral sex with the girl, only "eat all over" the decoy. Chris said that would be oral sex, to which Wellman agreed but said that wasn't his intention. He never fully explained what he meant. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
