A Very 80s Summer, “I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)” as “Venus” was her name. Looking at the “Man In The Mirror” with “Frankie” who said “Come Dancing” with the “West End Girls.” I got there and they asked, “Do Ya Wanna Funk.” I said “We're Not Gonna Take It,” as she's “Born To Be My Baby.” She's on the “Morning Train” and “Love Will Save The Day.” They apologised and said I'm a “Jealous Guy.” I replied, “Hold Me Now,” “I Think We're Alone Now.” We will be “Together Forever”. There's "Something About You." So there! So here we are at the end of 2020. A year I'm sure that everyone around the world wants to put behind them, I certainly do. The December 2020 edition of UP! takes us out of this year with a bang and a collection of awesome house and club mixes. The set kicks off with the Charlie Lane mix of "Everybody's Lost" by Ananya then slides into Ariana Grande's new track "34 + 35" which adds up to 69 - just sayin'. The Cube Guys have hit back with a stellar cover of Whitney Houston's "Love Will Save The Day". I put a throwback track from Danny Howells ft. Erire in the set because the Hoxton Whores remix of "Dusk 'Til Dawn" is so good. The set shifts to a happy main room sound with Jason Derulo's huge hit "Savage Love", Miley Cyrus' hit "Midnight Sky" and an amazing Toy Armada remix of Kylie's "Magic". Nick Stracener takes Tina Turner's "What's Love Got To Do With It" to another level and Kelly Clarkson delivers a standout vocal on her track "I Dare You". Steps are back with their pop hit "What The Future Holds" and Cyndi Lauper's new song "Hope" is beautifully mixed by Tracy young to close out the set. I'd like to take a moment to thank some people, both friends and in the music world for helping to keep me on track this year, personally and in the music production scene. Rob Ladic (aka Division 4) has been so supportive and I love our lunch get togethers in Sydney. Both Rob and Wayne G (whom I've known for years) have been extremely generous providing me with their private remixes for which I am very grateful. To Matt Consola at Swishcraft Music and the boys from Dirty Disco I say a big, heartfelt thank you & the same to Nick Stracener in Dallas. Personally, my friends Aaron, Mark, Deb, Jason, Daryl, Matt & Anthony, David & Derek, Ben, Mark & Michael, Mat, Tim & Anna and my brothers Cameron & Nick, you have all helped me through a difficult year and I thank you for it. And finally to all the music fans who have followed, supported and liked my podcasts. Your support means a lot to me. So here's to a brighter 2021. June is the kick off month for various Pride events in the summer around the world although, this year they might be virtual events considering the ongoing effects of Covid19. That doesn't mean that we can't celebrate with more classic anthems that have made their mark at Pride parties over the years. The June 2020 edition of Pride Anthems does exactly that. Kicking off the set is an amazing Division 4 remix of Mariah Carey's "Dreamlover". In fact, Division 4 has done so many awesome updated remixes of classic tracks that four of them feature in this set including "Crazy In Love", "Never Enough" and "I Will Love Again". Thelma Houston's "Don't Leave Me this Way" has been remixed so many times, it's hard to make a choice on which one to use. I decided on the more old school version by Almighty. The Pete Hammond remix of "Catch You Baby" by Lonnie Gordon is pure 90's dance heaven. Hazell Dean's classic "Searchin" also gets the Almighty treatment. Johnny Rocks does a beautiful mix of Taborah's "I Am" and Wayne G's remixes of "Catch My Breath" by Kelly Clarkson and "Unbreak My Heart" by Toni Braxton are also stellar. Throw in a punchy Barry Harris mix of Whitney's "Love Will Save The Day" and the June 2020 edition of Pride Anthems is ready to move you wherever and however you choose to celebrate. Enjoy Anthony 1/ "DREAMLOVER" (Division 4 Club Remix) - MARIAH CAREY 2/ "DON'T LEAVE ME THIS WAY" (Almighty vs. Disco Divas Club Mix) - THELMA HOUSTON 3/ "CATCH YOU BABY" (Pete Hammond Remix) - LONNIE GORDON 4/ "CRAZY IN LOVE" (Division 4 2020 Remix) - BEYONCE` 5/ "LOVE WILL SAVE THE DAY" (Barry Harris Club Mix) - WHITNEY HOUSTON 6/ "NEVER ENOUGH" (Division 4 Remix) - LOREN ALLRED 7/ "SO ALIVE" (Original Club Mix) - AVALON SUPERSTARS ft. RITA CAMPBELL 8/ "CATCH MY BREATH" (Wayne G. & Andy Allder Anthem Club Mix) - KELLY CLARKSON 9/ "SEARCHIN" (I GOTTA FIND A MAN) - (Almighty Definitive Club Mix) - HAZELL DEAN 10/ "I WILL LOVE AGAIN" (Division 4 & Matt Consola Club Mix) - LARA FABIAN 11/ "I AM" (THE RISING) (Johnny Rocks Fire Island Sunrise Club Mix) - TABORAH 12/ "UNBREAK MY HEART" (Wayne G. After much hair-tearing, sleep deprivation and overall frustration — Party Favorz is finally back with volume 2 of The Essential 80's Dance Mix. I only say this because I was trying to pick up a great variety of the biggest dance hits of the era but it's not as simple as it sounds. I had mentioned in my previous post how musical styles tend to spill over into the following decade before the actual defining sounds appear by the fourth year going forward — I had forgotten about the Hi NRG boom of the early part of the decade. This sound adapted the synthesized nature of music that had been previously dabbled with by the likes of Giorgio Moroder, Cerrone and even Peter Brown. By 1980, it hit its stride with the remix of Patrick Cowley's 1980 remix of Donna's Summer's "I Feel Love." Patrick went on to lead the genre with multiple club hits like "Menergy," "Megatron Man," and the era-defining sound of the gay movement "Do You Wanna Funk" by Sylvester (which is included in the Trash Disco Series). Tracks like Paul Parker's "Right On Target," Evelyn Thomas "High Energy" (which was the basis for Frankie Goes To Hollywood's "Relax"), Miquel Brown's "So Many Men, So Little Time" and a multitude of others. The problem I have with these tracks is not that they didn't define a movement throughout the decade but that the production values wore poor if not downright cheesy and didn't really quite fit in with the music that defined the era. Most of them were on independent labels that didn't have the budget for quality productions. Almighty Records has done a remarkable job of updating many of these tracks, which have been featured on my Hi NRG series. Regardless, I may go back and whip up a single set of the original versions of the biggest tracks from this era. They not only defined the gay community but provided the soundtrack to the era that spawned AIDS, which devastated our community. These songs represent a soundtrack to a certain place and time deserve to be honored in their own right. If anything, Patrick Cowley deserves to be honored for the movement he helped create as he was one of the earliest victims to die from AIDS in 1982 before it even had a name. Sylvester died from the disease in 1988. As for this second set of 80's dance music classics, I think I finally hit my stride while still mostly keeping to my original mission of mixing up the commercial alternative and pop-hit dance tracks. It may be odd to hear Michael Jackson right next to When In Rome but it works. Many of these tracks have been remastered by yours truly from their vinyl counterparts. As such, you may hear some clicks throughout but that only lends to its authenticity. There are a couple of things I do want to point out. Madonna's "Into The Groove" was shortened because there's an entire section that's a repeat but Hot Tracks thought it wise to overlap different sections of the song, which I found jarring. I just took it out altogether shortening the mix, which keeping everything still intact. Also, Whitney's "Love Will Save The Day" had a lot of issues but there weren't really any remixes of this track other than the housed-up Jellybean and Morales take, which does not belong. There is a minor skip in the second verse but it's hardly cringing worthy. Usually, I can fix these if it's repeated elsewhere but that was not the case here. I'm running behind on these so I may very well have to put the remaining two sets off until November as well as the Junior Vasquez Legacy set I had promised. We're already heading into the middle of October and I need to get out the next Dance Club and Circuit Tribal House set before Halloween. No worries. I'll get everything done — it's just that my timelines have changed. Until the next time...ENJOY! The original upload has been edited down by almost 4 minutes for better cohesion and flow. A significant part of the 80s was the rise of Hi NRG, epitomized by Patrick Cowley's remix of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" and his later contributions to the genre, such as "Menergy" and "Megatron Man". This volume also nods towards the gay community and the movement they helped define, which was deeply intertwined with the Hi NRG genre, as their music provided the soundtrack to a time marked by the emergence of AIDS. Featuring an eclectic lineup, it juxtaposes tracks like Michael Jackson's "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" with When In Rome's "The Promise" creating an authentic 80s vibe. You'll find Madonna's "Into The Groove", Whitney Houston's "Love Will Save The Day", and Shannon's "Let The Music Play" among the mix, illustrating the varied landscape of 80s dance music. Several tracks in this mix have been meticulously remastered from their original vinyl versions, ensuring authenticity while delivering quality audio. Notably, Madonna's "Into The Groove" has been shortened to maintain cohesion and Whitney Houston's "Love Will Save The Day" retains minor imperfections, reflecting the charm and texture of the period's music production. This collection promises a nostalgic dive into the 80s dance music scene, encapsulating the era's sounds and the emotions they stirred. So turn the volume up and enjoy the rhythmic journey back to the 80s! Until the next time...ENJOY! Album: The Essential 80's Dance Mix vol. 2Genre: 80's DanceYear: 2019Total Time: 02:01:06 1. A look at AMERICA through two turntables, and THE PRESSURES OF THE WORLD that it thrusts upon us, and the inevitable CHANGE that we all hope to accelerate. I ask, "America, DO YOU LOVE ME LIKE YOU SAY, or will I be left to drown IN THE RIVER?" A NEW ORDER gave us hope eight years back that this nation and us were TWO OF HEARTS and we begged, "DON'T STOP!" Though now we've been sucked into the frighteningly strong gravitational pull of the GALAXY, fluttering our wings like a helpless CYMANDE. At times like this, we need to remind ourselves that optimism and ultimately LOVE WILL SAVE THE DAY. Only when we find this hope can we learn to FUNK again, and to let the powers that be know that, "YOU GONNA MAKE ME LOVE SOMEBODY ELSE" if they keep on treating us like they have. "DO YOU HEAR ME CALLING?" Of course not; the powers have a HEART OF GLASS and any little bit of "freedom" they give us is just an ILLUSION. As we are led on by BLIND FAITH, we find ourselves in the only safe space we have left: DEEP IN VOGUE within our own community. Which is why it is imperative that we stop in-fighting. We must rise above hatred, and all the things that separate us, to achieve freedom and equality for one and other. FOLLOW ME.

The next artist I thought I'd tackle in the Essential's series is Whitney Houston. Her song book is huge as are her songs. There are countless remixes of her tracks to choose from. I've started with some of her earlier hits with remixes by Junior Vasquez, Hex Hector & Club 69 among others. There are 2 more editions following which will highlight her mid & later career. Enjoy Anthony 1/ "HOW WILL I KNOW" (Junior Vasquez Club Mix) 2/ "GREATEST LOVE OF ALL" (Club 69 Future Club Mix) 3/ "I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY" (Junior's Happy Handbag Club Mix) 4/ "LOVE WILL SAVE THE DAY" (Junior Vasquez 2000 Club Mix) 5/ "I'M EVERY WOMAN" (Sam Pena Club Mix) 6/ "STEP BY STEP" (Steve Bourasa Club Mix) 7/ "SO EMOTIONAL" (David Morales Club Mix) 8/ "I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU" (Hex Hector Club Mix)
I've been in the middle of a busy run of great some great gigs lately, so I felt inspired to do not one, but two, new podcasts. There's just been too much great new music out lately to limit it to just one set (or, to one sound!). Part one features a much more gay dancefloor sound. Part two (April Showers - A Little EDM'y ... forthcoming) will have a different sound with much harder beats (with my eye looking towards Coachella in two weeks!), but still with lots of vocals. If you enjoy my podcast, would you please consider making a donation to my AIDS/LifeCycle fundraising efforts for 2014. I won't be playing as many gigs in May because I'll be busy on the bike training for this 550-mile ride from SF to LA the first week of June to raise money to help those living with HIV and AIDS. It's my 7th year riding for this amazing cause, and I'd love your support with a tax-deductible donation! http://www.tofighthiv.org/site/TR/AIDSLIFECYCLE2014/AIDSLifeCycleCenter?px=1172262&pg=personal&fr_id=1630 Here's my upcoming schedule: March 30th: Private event in Ixtapa, Mexico April 5th: Xposed Day Party, Tropicana Hotel, Las Vegas (new summer residency!) www.xposedlv.com/tickets/reservat…ldate=2014-04-05 April 20th: Resurrection, Easter Tea Dance, Palomar Hotel, San Diego (an AIDS/LifeCycle fundraiser event, 1 - 7 p.m.) April 20th: Stripper Circus, Rich's, San Diego (8 p.m. - close) May 3rd: private house party, West Hollywood June 8th: Gay pride at Here lounge, West Hollywood (noon - 5 p.m.) June 22nd: Size Sundays, Here lounge, West Hollywood The Tracklist: "Mean Girls," rifle Intro "Drunk In Love" (DJ Aron mix), Beyoncé "Getcha" (Tommy Love Remix), Hector Fonseca (feat.
