This episode celebrates trailblazing diva Sylvester James and his iconic disco anthem ‘You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)'. Black, gay and gender fluid (before that was even a term), Sylvester's uncompromising attitude paved the way for generations of queer artists. Longtime collaborator and close friend Jeanie Tracy shares intimate memories of working with Sylvester and biographer Josh Gamson paints a picture of San Francisco in the 1970s and ‘80s - from glitterball heyday to the terror of AIDS. This set has been updated since the original post. 'I Believe 2009 (Ralphi Rosario Vocal Club Mix)' by The Absolute feat. Suzanne Palmer was substituted for 'Body Rock' by Oceana and 'Dancing On My Own (Guy Scheiman Club Remix)' by Robyn was added to the final version. No sooner than I finished yesterday's post — I found an issue with the website, which lead me down a rabbit hole of multiple issues. Mind you, nothing that affects the user experience but triggers my anal instincts of perfection. By the time I finished and resolved to leave some issues for another day — my day was lost and I was too tired to finish volume 4 of the Ultimate Gay Anthems & PRIDE Classics that I promised I was going to do. Rick has been out of town so that allowed me to get up early this morning and get to work on cleaning up this mix, while replacing a couple of tracks with better versions. Then I started adding stuff I had forgotten about and this 4-hour set turned into nearly 5 hours. The end result is shear perfection and frankly a delight for GenX and early Millennials. I had decided to skip on mixing up a variety of styles for the final two volumes, which makes things a bit easier so volume 4 is big room circuit but nothing that's over the top. There's a lot of gay anthems and quality classic gay pride cuts here. As I had previously stated, this series is as close as you're going to get to a best of the Diva Hall of Fame people have asked me for. What's nice about this is that all those leading ladies that I never got around to inducting or for whatever reason didn't feel it was warranted — are included here. People like Jeanie Tracy, Kimberly Davis, Anastacia, Suzanne Palmer (who really deserves an entry), Paula Cole, Shania Twain, Heather Small (of M People), Judy Cheeks, Alison Limerick, Lara Fabian, Nelly Furtado, Debby Holiday, Amber, Goldfrapp, Sarah Atereth, Deborah Cooper, Beth Sacks, Pepper MaShay, Andra Day, Latanza Waters, CeCe Peniston, Sabrina Johnston, Shawn Christoper, Soraya Vivian (Degrees of Motion), Thelma Houston and so many more have touched our little gay hearts at one point or another in our drama-filled lives that it's a travesty that I can't acknowledge all of them. Consider this series their honorary induction and acknowledgement of what they've meant to so many of us. We say, thank you from the bottom of our little queer hearts. We've got one more set to go, which will be the remaining Hi NRG and house music tracks before jumping into the annual Gay Anthems For A New Generation so we can wrap up our 2022 Gay Pride offerings before festivities start kicking off. With June comes Pride and 2020 is certainly a Pride year for the record books. We’re still living under a global pandemic with all in-person celebrations cancelled. But thankfully, America is finally demanding change against systematic racism through the #BlackLivesMatter movement in a way that we haven’t seen since the 1960s. It’s a powerful moment in history and it leaves me feeling motivated and inspired. Pride is not cancelled, just because large gatherings can’t happen. In fact, I’d say that the spirit of Pride this year is stronger than ever.My latest podcast is a mix of joyous hands-in-the-air celebration dance tracks and gay classics, with a healthy sprinkling of Lady Gaga (whose latest album, “Chromatica,” is taking the summer by storm!) It contains my latest remix with Stephen Jusko, of 2020 song of the summer “Rain On Me,” by Mother Monster with help from Ariana Grande. This DJ is still not yet back to work and has no upcoming gigs on the horizon, so if you appreciate and feel inspired by my podcast, please feel free to Venmo me a tip: @DJBlacklowFollow me online:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/djblacklowSoundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/djblacklowInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/djblacklow/The Tracklist:1) Fun Tonight (DJ Blacklow Intro) – Lady Gaga2) Pretty Hurts (Rafael Barreto Remix) - Beyoncé3) Give A Little (Roland Belmares’ Summer Time Dubby Mix) – Maggie Rogers4) Together (Leo Blanco Remix) - Sia5) Hallucinate (Eddie Martinez Remix) – Dua Lipa6) Power (Dario Xavier Remix) – Ellie Goulding7) I Got My Sambando Education (DJ Blacklow Mashup) - Rafha Madrid vs. Uncanny Alliance8) Alice vs Don't Let Go (Brett Austin Big Room Mashup) - Lady Gaga vs. Nacho Chapado & Junior Senna9) Dance Monkey (Danny Mart Super Remix) – Tones and I10) American Life (Victor Cabral Remix) - Madonna11) Movin’ Up (2020 Mauro Mozart Remix) – Inaya Day12) A Deeper Love (Pride) (Leanh & Zambianco Remix) - Hector Fonseca & Natascha Bessez13) Holding Out For A Hero (Original Mix) - Esteban Lopez & Binomio Feat. We are almost half way through the year and have to suffer yet another month of stay at home indoor disco dancing. Fortunately, you now have UP! May 2020 to rescue you. There are also some great online streaming events to lift your spirits such as DJ Dan Murphy's 'Camp' live stream. This month's edition of UP! packs a commercial house punch in the front end of the set. Kicking it off is the excellent Tempo Elektrik remix of Harry Styles "Adore You". A classic from the past "Happiness" by Wand & Jeanie Tracy, gets a modern remake from Vibey. The always reliable Division 4 weaves his magic on Dojo Cat's "Say So" and Little Mix's "Break Up Song" also gets a great remix from James Bowers. The excellent Tommer Mizrahi sends the set into Big Room anthem territory with his mix of Sam Smith's "To Die For" and Russ Rich & Andy Allder turn in an awesome mix of "You Should Be Sad" by Halsey. I never thought I'd see the day when I put a song by Lindsay Lohan in my podcast but apparently that day is here, with a great remix of "Back To Me" by Cavalier. Anne-Marie's "2002" gets the big room treatment from Joe Gauthreaux & Leanh. Sam Smith makes a second appearance with Demi Lovato on "I'm Ready" and Dua Lipa and Alex Clare close out the set. The May 2020 edition of UP! has you covered so stay safe and enjoy. One of the hottest club music remix and production teams at the moment is Dirty Disco. Longtime rivals, friends, and now business partners DJs Mark De Lange and JD Arnold are from Houston, TX where De Lange owns several bars in the area including Bayou City Bar in Montrose and the Eagle while the two use their properties as testing grounds for new music. [source: The Boys of Dirty Disco Keep the World Dancing] Between the two of them, they possess a long history in the club music scene that dates back to the late 70's and early 80's. With a musical biography that starts during the Disco era leading up to everything that's hot now, they apply their historical knowledge to create some of the most beloved and iconic tracks that provide the soundtrack to our gay lives. I've chatted with Mark several times and can honestly say that not only is he a sweetheart, but his appreciation and understanding of the depths of dance music also aligns with mine. It literally takes this kind of firsthand experience to be able to create the modern-day soundscapes that populate the clubs. Personally, I'd put these guys on par with Barry Harris and Matt Consola who have been churning out some great floor-stompers the past decade. I've had to rework this set three times before finally pulling together what I thought worked best. The music included in this legacy-defining set touches on a variety of genres from Tribal, House, Disco, and Progressive. Their catalog is so vast, that I was saddened when I had to drop a ton of tracks to keep it tight. Even then, this set clocks in just over 4 hours — as I decided not to break it in half. It literally is one giant glitter ball packed with originals, current hits and reworked classics and anthems. Dirty Disco has been working on a new track for Pride that I had been anticipating and wanted to include in this set. Due to touring schedule conflicts with the fabulous Jeanie Tracy, her rendition of "Thank You For Being a Friend" has been delayed until next week. Yes, it's "that song" written and made famous in 1978 by Andrew Gold and later made even more famous as the theme song to the gay classic sitcom "Golden Girls" that ran from 1985 to 1992 but sung by Cynthia Fee. So there, I let the cat out of the bag. If they manage to get the track out by the end of next week, I 'may' go back and update this set with its inclusion. For now, I've got to get to work on the 2019 Catch-Up series that I've been teasing for a month. I hope to have that out by the end of next week. After that, we jump head-on into summer. I figured I'd get a jump on things and drop an unexpected surprise for you folks next week in its stead. Party Favorz decided to bring the party indoors and is releasing the annual Holiday Edition a week early! The Holiday Edition 2018 is chock-full of the biggest Circuit Tribal House music blowing up at the moment. In addition to a brand-spanking new track from the one and only Barbra Streisand, inspired by the current administration and the occupation by individual 1 in OUR HOUSE, there are two more tracks from the soundtrack and its companion "The Greatest Showman," which is turning out to be the gift that keeps on giving. To boot, we've got the #1 Billboard Dance Club track and the #1Top 100 song of the moment, "Breathin'" and "Thank You, Next" by Ariana Grande, a slew of new Lady Gaga tracks off of the " A Star Is Born" soundtrack mixed by Barry Harris, a tribute mix to Queen "Under Pressure" who are defying all odds with $487.5 million in ticket sales for their biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody," which I'm dying to see, as well as several throwbacks. In that category, Barry Harris "refreshed" the Weather Girls classic "It's Raining Men" that keeps the original intact but adds a lot of oomph, making it perfect for big room events. Susu Bobien has faithfully recreated the Loleatta Holloway classic "Love Sensation," while Jeanie Tracy takes a turn on the Sylvester classic "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)," both of which are currently climbing the dance charts. While I can't discuss every track I do want to make a couple of noteworthy mentions: Dirty Disco shreds Anggun's latest "The Good Is Back" turning it into a massive floor-filler that should be picked up for every DJ's arsenal. You'll also notice that I included Kendra Erika's remake of the Laura Branigan classic "Self Control" after slamming it in my last post. The Ralphi Rosario and Erick Ibiza club mix allows Erika's vocals to shine and the production value is more palatable than the Dirty Werk version I was using. My apologies to Kendra. I want to give a BIG shoutout to Ludovic D. for his generous donation. If you haven't donated yet, please consider making a contribution towards my efforts. There is no amount too big or small that will be accepted. I hope everyone's having nicer weather than we are in the south and gearing up for the holidays. I'll be back next week. with that surprise, I mentioned earlier. Until then...ENJOY! Album: Holiday Edition 2018 Genre: Circuit, Tribal, House Year: 2018 Total Time: 02:52:19 1. Surprise! As Party Favorz winds down our 10th year, I found myself with some extra time and decided to pull together that one killer holiday dance set that I felt I had not yet achieved. X-mas Dance Mix 2K17 achieves that goal and more. Pulling together my favorite seasonal dance classics like Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas," Band Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas," Christine Aguilera's "The Christmas Song," and Kristine W's "Oh Holy Night" while adding a couple of new mixes like Dirty Disco & Jeanie Tracy's "Santa Baby," and George Michael's (a.k.a. Wham!) "Last Christmas" coupled with smooth transitions that are really hard to achieve on a mix of songs like these, you have the makings of the ULTIMATE holiday dance mix or one that I can finally say...YES! instead of "this will suffice." Since the holidays are always pretty rough for me as I put on a happy face and with all the crap being perpetrated on the world by our own demented, narcissistic and much-loathed president maybe, just maybe this can pull you out of the doldrums. If so, then I've done my small part in making the world a better place. ENJOY! It appears I've been given the green light to go ahead and post the Holiday Edition 2017 featuring the holiday's HOTTEST circuit beats. The song in question is a remake of the Eartha Kitt cum Madonna classic "Santa Baby" by Dirty Disco featuring the always fabulous Jeanie Tracy. There are two mixes of this song. One is the more circuit-friendly Private Mix and the other is the more disco-infused Mainstream Mix (which may be making an appearance elsewhere on this site relatively soon). More on that later. Folks, this set is BIG and I when I say big, I mean HUGE or better yet EPIC! In fact, this is quite possibly the best set of circuit tracks to come out simultaneously in like forever. I kick things off with the Offer Nissim remix of the Trash Mermaids' "Cryptic Love." I know absolutely nothing about this group, this track or anything about this song other than I absolutely love it! I equally adore the Dave Aude remix featured on the recent EDM/Dance set Jingle Electric pt. 1. There's just something about the obscurity and misunderstood meaning of this song coupled with catchy riffs that just does it for me. This is followed-up by quite possibly the best remix Spin Sista has laid-down, EVER. They, he, she, it delivers an early millennium circuit remix of "Revival" by Ange Lloyd featuring Adam Martin that's worthy of Hex Hector, Thunderpuss and Jonathan Peters. Not to overuse the word but it really is EPIC! Speaking of which, our favorite Latin DJ Ranny pulls another masterpiece out of his tight ass with "Queen of Peace" by Florence & the Machine. I don't know what it is about F&TM and Ranny but the two are like a glorious match made in circuit heaven. Keeping within the realm of larger than life tunes, Barry Harris pulls out all stops on Imagine Dragons "Thunder." While the catchy tune stands on its own, Barry throws in a magical Thunderpuss build-up that really gets the adrenalin building before dropping into a drummed-up slap-beat of the original and then builds it up again, finally taking us out. The fact is, Barry Harris is all over this mix. His output has been staggering with damn-near perfect consistency. He appears to have found that balance in remixing that play well to a circuit, EDM and even the t-dance crowd. At the end of the day, there isn't anyone coming close to the magic he's creating making him a much sought-after producer. With that said, don't think this set is all about Barry. Tony Moran does some of his best work in a while with "Zum Zum" by Sasanya. Our favorite boys from Houston, Dirty Disco (who are starting to give Barry a run for his money) bring it with Joe Moda's "Pout" out now on Swishcraft and "To the Dancefloor" with everybody's favorite underground Queen Celeda. Hottie, Joe Gauthreaux has been teaming up with Leanh lately and really deliver a surprisingly good remix of the Diana Ross classic "Aint No Mountain High Enough," which should get all the circuit boys joining hands in dance floor unison. Twisted Dee has also really been impressing us with her remixes of "Lose Control" by April Diamond and "Boom" by Emily Perry. There are so many great tracks out at the moment, about a third of them had to be left in the crate. Now you can understand why I had such a hard-on and was constantly plugging this upcoming release. I'm talking MOMENTOUS! Since this set is being released a few days early, I have another EPIC unannounced surprise for everybody dropping on Friday. You'll have to wait to find out what it is. Until then...ENJOY! Album: Holiday Edition 2017 Genre: Circuit, Tribal, House Music Year: 2017 Total Time: 02:13:48 The Trash Mermaids - Cryptic Love (Offer Nissim Remix) Ange Lloyd feat. While the catchy tune stands on its own, Barry throws in a magical Thunderpuss build-up that really gets the adrenalin building before dropping into a drummed-up slap-beat of the original and then builds it up again, finally taking us out. It's precisely 3:14 AM and I can't sleep. So, I thought I'd go ahead and drop this massive bomb on everyone as a little TGIF early morning gift when you wake up. The Summer Circuit Edition pt.2 picks right up where we left off with sizzling tribal beats for those hot sticky nights. Things kick-off with Offer Nissim's dark and divalicious We Can Make It and then just steam rolls through the rest of the set.  While not a huge radio hit, I Ain't Your Mama (Jennifer Lopez) has hit all the right notes with us gay folk and Danny Verde gets serious in his remix of the song. As you would expect, he uses deep and progressive beats while keeping the lively attitude of the lyrics intact. Score! Betty Who returns with an unexpected remake of I Love You Always Forever originally sung by one-hit wonder Donna Lewis. This is one of those songs I'd prefer to not remember from the 90's but it works surprisingly well. Even more so on the laid-back version coming up on the next installment of Summer Chill. Give it a few spins and you'll be singing along like a happy little love bird. It's Britney, BITCH! and she's back with a new single and new album in the works. Of course, leave it to Barry Harris to snatch that puppy up and work the shit out of it. Brazil's HenriqMoraes whips out a bootleg for Jason Derulo's Want To Want Me even after the label kinda didn't support it that much. We never got the full 7th Heaven version of this catchy pop tune but Henriq stays true his style, while maintaining the fun "pop" of the original. If his name is familiar from another recent post, it's because he also re-worked Madonna's Like a Virgin, which landed on her most recent Diva Hall of Fame set. This guy has a good ear and knows his shit and should be someone you should follow. I'm fairly certain he's got some tricks up his sleeves and will surprise us in the coming year. Not another all-girl group! Well, yes and frankly I'm really digging these chicks. Fourever1 are quadruplets picked up by Randy Jackson's label. I dropped an EDM version of All About Tonight on Summer Slammers pt. 2 and am now sending up Ranny's fantastic version. He stays in the framework of the original but gives it some super-juice by banging those beats pretty hard. Cheap Thrills by Sia should have made an appearance back in Spring but I forgot to include it. Then again on Gay Days and I forgot again. Then again on Summer Circuit Edition pt.1 and for some fucked up reason I forgot again. The good news is that the song has been one of those creeping up the pop charts making it one of the biggest summer hits for 2016. Relevance is key in this instance (even if I do pride myself on picking the hits before they actually are one). You know what, it's finally made it on to a mix; get over it (that 's me talking to my evil snarky twin). As long as he doesn't get political or even open his mouth, I've become a solid Bieber fan. Hey, I admit it. I like his music. Cold Water with Major Lazer is catchy and a great piece of work. I don't care who he fucks or the bro wars because I don't follow all that nonsense. If you write and sing catchy songs and display a semblance of maturity, then I'm on your side. He's definitely being well-served by taking advice from Usher in going from scrawny to hotty. I always new the transformation would come and welcome it since he looks great! Barry handled the song by making two versions. One hot and the other cold. I prefer the cold. I think he's unsure about the slowdown tempo change in the song before picking up again. I'll just say that he's the master at handling these songs that change tempo and it comes across effortlessly. Another score for Barry. Houston's Dirty Disco return with a HUGE winner in Fabulous by none other than Jeanie Tracy. I'd say this is the best use of her voice in some time and the sister just works it (2 snaps and a twirl). Ranny pops back in with his version of Adele's MOR adult-oriented slog Send ...

March 17th marked the date of our second broadcast and since we are not the green beer drinking type, the crew and I decided to celebrate by inviting one of the most prolific record producer, songwriter, musical arranger and musicians to the show, MR. PATRICK ADAMS! Much to our delight he accepted! AND MARCH 17TH IS HIS BIRTHDAY!!!! If you don't know who Patrick is, you will be amazed at the amount of beautiful music this man has given to the world! He has 32 gold and platinum records and has over 1300 songs under his belt he has either written or been involved with producing.  I have embedded a few songs Patrick was involved with here that we didn't have time to include in the interview. Among the artists Patrick  has worked with and projects he has been involved with are  Sister Sledge, Loleatta Holloway, Main Ingredient, Shannon, Cares, Thomas &Taylor,Ace Spectrum, Inner Life, Leroy Burgess, The Spinners, Gladys Knight, Skipworth & Turner, Candi Staton, Eddie Kendricks, Herbie Mann, Debbie Taylor, Bumblebee Unlimited, Universal Robot Band, Narada Michael Walden, Rick James, Chatelaine, C# Sharp, Center Stage, Cloud One,Inner Life, Mark IV, Musique, Patrick Adams Initiative, Phreek, Rainbow Brown, Sandy's Gang, The P.A. System, The Universal Robot Band, Wish  and Bruni Pagan. In addition, Adams has worked with rap, hip-hop/R&B and dance/club acts such as Coolio, Cathy Dennis, Keith Sweat, Teddy Riley, Black Ivory, R. Kelly, Eric B & Rakim, Salt-N-Pepa, Shades of Love and Jeanie Tracy (vocalist for Sylvester).  He has also won numerous awards, among them ASCAP songwriter of the year.  He is responsible for one of my favorite records of all time, the Paradise Garage version of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Inner Life and engineered the epic album "Paid in Full" from Eric B. and Rakim. I was so nervous but the interview went off without a hitch, despite both OP! and I having bronchitis, we only managed to cough up a lung off mic. We all learned a lot although I wished we had double the time to chat - what a fountain of information he was! I really hope that the young cats coming up can access some of the wealth of knowledge this man has.  Patricks more recent tribute to Thom Bell above. Beautiful tune!  Patrick Adams was an amazing guest and is a fascinating person and true artist. We hope you enjoy the interview. He is truly a treasure and we wish him many more of the happiest birthdays to come!    The Sweet Spot crew had an incredible evening with the great Patrick Adams! Sirena Soul, OP! Baby K, Patrick Adams and Kyle McNeill.

I've been in the middle of a busy run of great some great gigs lately, so I felt inspired to do not one, but two, new podcasts. There's just been too much great new music out lately to limit it to just one set (or, to one sound!). Part one features a much more gay dancefloor sound. Part two (April Showers - A Little EDM'y ... forthcoming) will have a different sound with much harder beats (with my eye looking towards Coachella in two weeks!), but still with lots of vocals. If you enjoy my podcast, would you please consider making a donation to my AIDS/LifeCycle fundraising efforts for 2014. I won't be playing as many gigs in May because I'll be busy on the bike training for this 550-mile ride from SF to LA the first week of June to raise money to help those living with HIV and AIDS. I wrote so many songs that year to help me get through so many things that were coming to me at the same time. Not all bad, not all good. Many great things and many big choices I had to make that would make a great impact on my heart. That heart is strong and I am human. I poured myself into my music and my lyrics and melodies and of course my dance music brothers and sisters and the result is one of my proudest mix journeys. Many # 1 dance songs came from channeling those energies and all of them are available on ITunes, Beatport and Amazon, etc. https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/event-unmixed-total-collection/id517447709 https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/the-event-2012-pt.-1/id520054031 https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/the-event-2012-pt.-2/id520053919 Take the time to download some of these songs to bring you back to the moment that you had during anyone of these songs. Support the industry that has been so there for you. In the meantime, enjoy this podcast and I send you all my love. Tony To the incredible talent that has given me the gifts of voice, heart and love of the music. I write with my pals listed. The message is just a message without the messenger to deliver them. You have all channeled my feelings into performances that inspire positivity, energy with connectivity to those who interpret it to make their night or day better. Deborah Cox, Kristine W, Nicki Richards, Everett Bradley, Sharon Bryant, Martha Wash, Lisa Lisa, Jeanie Tracy and Vicki Shepard, and of course the producers/remixers that make "THE EVENT" bigger than me: Ralphi Rosario, Jody den Broeder, Warren Rigg, Guisseppe D, Martin Fry, Dan De Leon, DJ Paulo, Tracy Young, Lascelles Stephens, Frank Lamboy, Hosh Gureli and the list goes on and on as you read the booklet. HAY! I have been quiet for far too long. And what better way to break the silence than with a mix that features some dance floor divas! This is a fun mix with some old school faves. We have everything from miss Inaya Day to Kathy Brown to Jeanie Tracy. It gets started and just won't stop. I already tested this on the gym floor and it had me lifting and dancing. So watch out! Hope you like!

Shouts to Tony Moran and Abel here, with the latter including a mashup of two of my favorite oldies but goodies (in addition to wishing Alegria a Happy 10th Birthday). It has been pretty hectic around here, so I did this one in a hurry. I'll save all my tedious edits, overlays, and sound effects for Spooky. :-) Hope everyone has a fun and safe Dallas Pride weekend! Well, I woke up this morning to some people banging on our neighbor's door screaming for the "bitch" to let her in.  "That's my shit!" she was yelling.  With all the break-ins, car vandalism and our upstairs neighbors stomping on the floor or moving around furniture morning, noon and night, we've pretty much had enough.  Unfortunately, I've got more shit on my plate at the moment, which will continue all summer long; moving just isn't an option at the moment.  I'm going to go ahead and renew for six months and then we're out of here by the end of February.  What once was a really nice upscale community has now turned into the ghetto.  Rick had already noticed that the quality of people moving in around here was questionable at best. Now, we are by no means snobs, but we've already been broken into once before and were pretty much wiped out.  My insurance was canceled as a result, though I understand I can get it through the state (something I definitely need to look into).  I went ahead and ran a little check on the Internet only to find out that our place is now a "Fair Housing Host".  'Host' is the operative word meaning HUD or public housing for those that are not familiar.  By law, where you live can switch to public housing anytime without having to inform the existing residents.  I guess you're supposed to figure it out yourself; maybe after you've been robbed, vandalized, mugged or worse murdered. Anywho, better for everyone else.  I managed to put together today's post and will have it up after I get back from my doctor's appointment.  I'm taking tomorrow off, though I expect a review of Kristine W's "Power of Music" to go up.  I will resume the Pride podcasts on Thursday.  Until then . . . enjoy! It looks like there wasn't enough for a 4th mix, so this will be the final installment of the Holiday Edition.  There's some tough love going on in this mix, perfect for your peak hour enjoyment.  Watch out for the Nicki Richards tune; quite possibly the first anthem for 2009.  Another one I'm really getting into is  Sweet Feet Music feat. Soul Sista Shakti with Jeanie Tracy & Pepper Mashay "Maybe God Is Tryin' To Tell You Somethin'".  Packed with exceptional mixes from start to finish, there's not a bad mix in the bunch.  I don't know what it is but there's something about Gays, God, and Gospel that melds together really well.  Expect a Klubjumpers remix as part of a 2nd round of mixes in early January. Speaking of Klubjumpers, check out the ultra HOT remix they turned in for the classic "I Can't Get No Sleep 2008" by India.  Careful, you may burn yourself in the process.  Altogether, this is one solid set from start to finish.  You'll notice a little bonus at the end of the mix by Kristine W.  Just a little Christmas somethin' for those of you traveling this year to your holiday destination. I'll be wrapping up a Christmas present for the House heads which I'll deliver on Christmas Eve and day.  Until then, I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday, however you may celebrate it.  Take care and I'll be back at the end of next week for a series of year-end mixes to round out the year.  From my house to yours...Merry Christmas and HAPPY HOLIDAYS! 2001 was the year I personally bottomed-out in all aspects of my life.  Even so, it's chock-full of memories good and bad with some outrageous stories that are better left to a book.  I will say that with all the chaos surrounding my life at the time, there were some shining moments.  In particular, it was the year I met Rick who was dating a friend.  George (the friend) decided he didn't really like Rick.  Personally, I never thought anything about him until after they broke up.  Rick started calling me to go out and one thing just lead to another.  As the saying goes, one man's trash is another's treasure; well Rick was my treasure and still is today. Most importantly, 2001 was an amazing year for club music.  In fact, some of the big names that were competing for club floor attention were getting some hefty competition from the likes of John Creamer and Stephane K.  Their remix of Iio's "Rapture" a year earlier set the stage for a multitude of number ones that would carry them through the year and beyond.  Their style was very progressive which as of today has been pushed to the underground.  In fact, there are several prog club hits this particular year, which is strange because you don't get that much hitting the charts these days.  Speaking of the underground, Celeda had her first number one after Peter Rauhofer took her and the song by the same title all the way to the top.  Additionally, Illicit (who I still am clueless about) made a strong showing the previous year with their re-work of the massive "Pasilda" and went on to have two additional number ones with Madison Avenue's "Who the Hell Are You" and Stevie Nicks' "Planets of the Universe".  Granted, Tracy Young turned in quite an excellent mix for the latter, but let's face it; Stevie's voice doesn't really lend itself to the dancefloor but Illicit's magic proved the song had some legs by turning it into a floor stomper.  Other notables included Kosheen's Hide U. I'm talking about bodies movin, not stop groovin, asses shakin, floors are breakin, queens are freakin, hoe's are creepin, divas flowin, everybody knows to Stand up throw your hands to the sky Stand up, wo wo, you got to stand up! Now folks, before everyone starts ragging on me, I just want to let you know that Suzanne's version also makes an appearance in a later mix; so don't start shooting off about who had the better version.  While I am partial to Suzanne Palmer's take, I think both are equally outstanding.  We also got a preview of Ms. Jeanie Tracy's "cha-cha heels" in the Rosabel anthem "The Power".  It wouldn't be until three years later that Rosabel and Jeanie teamed up again to bring a full song dedicated to the cha-cha.  Of course, what would 2001 be without Thunderpuss?  Barry Harris and Chris Cox put out their one and only dance album featuring the number one "Papa's Got a Brand New Pigbag" and outstanding anthem "Stand Up" featuring Latanza Waters.  Funny thing is that I didn't even realize that Mobin Master remade that song last year.  It was featured on my Electro-funk 2008 v6 and I gave it a five-star rating then.  I guess it just shows you a good song is still a good song, no matter who does it. Finally, Thunderpuss also delivered the massive Janet Jackson cut "All For You".  With all the prog stuff hitting the charts, it was always nice to lighten things up with some more commercial takes of a pop hit, and boy was this a  BIG one!  The other big one was Pink's "Get the Party Started".  The strange thing about that song is that it never charted because LaFace Records never authorized any mixes.  Frankly, I think that was a huge miscalculation on their part.  I guess they were just acting pissy because she moved away from the R&B nature of her first album and into a more rock-oriented approach for her follow-up "Misunderstood".  I'm certain their minds changed after it went on to become a massive hit and sell a ton of copies worldwide.  Regardless,
