On today's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett is joined by Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftblog.com, John Canzano, JohnCanzano.com and Bill Krueger, ROOT Sports. Rob Staton, SeahawksDraftBlog.comjoins the show from the start to chat about the Seahawks win over Miami and the play of the defense. Is the defense good or is it a result of the opponents they have faced? Also, you are seeing a trend in the NFL with teams running the football more and it's a trend that will likely continue as the season moves forward. So, as Puck and Rob discuss, old school football is back! With all the compliments being thrown the way of the Seahawks, they still have issues on the offensive line, in particular Anthony Bradford. Puck and Rob can't figure out why they continue to play him and not give Christian Haynes a shot, but Rob does have a theory that he ran by Puck on why Bradford may be staying in there for now. Rob continues to gush over the play of Geno Smith and the offense despite them struggling in the middle of the game. D.K. Metcalf continues to be a force in the passing game and the running game looked much better with Zach Charbonnet this past weekend. Both Rob and Puck agreed that Charbonnet is a much better back than people give him credit for. They wrap up their conversation with thoughts on the rest of the NFC West and NFC and ask who is really better than Seattle right now? Seattle is playing some really good football despite the opponents. John Canzano, JohnCanzano.com, is next up and they touch in on the PAC-12's legal maneuvers, Gonzaga's potential addition to the conference, and how legitimate is John Mateer as a Heisman Trophy candidate? They touch on Wazzu's chances of running the table and creating chaos in the college football playoffs, the impact of media on what teams get the chance to play in the playoffs, and what happens if the Pac-12 can't land UNLV and Air Force. Where do they turn next?Lastly, Bill Krueger, ROOT Sports, joins Puck to talk Mariners baseball. They immediately jump into the performance of Bryce Miller and Bill suggests he's the best pitcher on the Mariners staff. Julio Rodriguez is finishing the season strong and Puck asks Bill what he could do to get off to a better start at the beginning of the season. Bill reminds Puck that the Mariners still have a shot at the playoffs and tells him not to give up hope. They wrap up their chat with Bill reflecting on his time playing for the Oakland A's and how much that city and organization meant to him and how sad he is that they are leaving Oakland and that Major League baseball should be ashamed of themselves. It feels like only yesterday we were getting stuck into some Porridge and now Series 2 of BritCom Goes to the Movies, draws to a close with 2004's Churchill: The Hollywood Years. A movie that was met with a lukewarm critical reception and a limited release, leaving it with a somewhat tarnished at worst, and forgettable at best legacy. ...but is any of that fair? Both Rob and Guy remembered loving it. The film had the cream of TV comedy talent of the time and all masterminded by Mr. Comic Strip Presents Peter Richardson, with a blueprint similar to one of his best episodes, The Strike. Is it really as bad as all that? There's a deep dive into The Comic Strip from its early days as a cabaret show, to a mockumentary directed by Julian Temple, to the opening night of Channel 4. This show gave the world Rik Mayall, Adrian Edmondson, French and Saunders, Robbie Coltraine, Keith Allen, Alexi Sayle, Phil Cornwell...the list goes on! There's the small matter of crowning the series quiz champion, with Rob needing an absolute miracle to defend his title. What a series it's been, with two new number ones, could we have a third? Every year CES, organized by the Consumer Technology Association, takes place annually in Las Vegas each January, and is immediately followed by NRF: Retail's Big Show in New York City the following week. While CES primarily focuses on consumers and personal technology, NRF is a business-to-business (B2B) retail-oriented event. Joining Rob to discuss and compare their experiences at CES 2024 and NRF 2024 is Armand Rabinowitz, Vice President Digital and Technology at Levy Restaurants. Both Rob and Armand have been attending both events for well over a decade. Describing why it's important to attend, Armand notes “as there's more and more technology required to operate any business, especially the foodservice business, it's important to see what's out there and cross compare what all these vendors are doing and how they can help your business.”At CES, transparent LED display technologies were a technology that Armand took note of. These transparent displays are not necessarily new to CES, but sometimes technology exists before its time. Wearables (eyewear, watches), smart ovens and nutritional measurement AI were also notable technologies at CES this year.Continuing on, the pair talk about their experience at NRF 2024. Despite its title, NRF is indeed a technology-focused show that includes far more than traditional retail. This year, autonomous stores were a big feature in many of the halls, and there was the debut of the Foodservice Innovation Zone where the IFBTA as the NRF's Concept. To stay informed about the latest technologies made an impact at CES or NRF, or that may soon impact the foodservice and hospitality industries, tune in to this episode of Accelerate.Visit Savor.fm for more podcasts Learn More about the Restaurant Power Index Report
Ending the year with our favorite episode – it was a unanimous decision. Both Rob and James get together and invent their own new television show.. where the prizes are weird and the reasons are stupid. It is hands down our favorite from the year, so we’ll see you next week with something new – but until then, enjoy and Happy New Year! Original Post: The Wheel is back, and it’s got a job to do… Ok, it doesn’t, that would be weird, it’s a Wheel. It has a job, and it does it well. We spin it, and it gives us the week’s topic. The topic though, well that’s a different job entirely. You see, if you have watched any television in the last twenty years, you have seen, at some point, a show about bakers or flower arrangers or glass blowers or taxis. Doing your boring-ass day job probably has its own channel on Pluto, so what happens when the Somethings get to make their own? It’s a brand new episode of The Wheel – Elevator Pitch Ok, here we g…..are you ready to face 5 other chat format podcasts on… PodWars! Full Episode
We're heading back to the Seychelles this week to chat with research and programme directors for the Save Our Seas Foundation D'Arros Research Centre (SOSF-DRC), Dr Rob Bullock and Henriette Grimmel! And, where they live and work – D'Arros, located in the outer islands of the Seychelles – is the perfect example of how science can be applied to protect and restore marine ecosystems. Sam is a real estate entrepreneur and content creator who captures millions of views across platforms. Rob and Sam discuss insights and wisdom on all things entrepreneurship, real estate and how you can build a successful empire. KEY TAKEAWAYS Wealth in real estate is accumulated over time, it's better to build a portfolio over a long period rather than ‘flipping' properties. The margins and profits for both Rob and Sam's education businesses are lucrative and can help plug cash flow gaps during more turbulent times. Operationally, buying, selling and renting houses can be a headache, this is why Rob prefers the training side to his business. Both Rob and Sam agree that it's better to own your own house than rent. Only the interest element of owning a house with a mortgage is ‘dead money', you are paying your debt down whilst the house is increasing in value. If you don't have the money or cash that's ok, someone else can see the value and provide it for you as long as you are buying an asset that will increase in value. BEST MOMENTS “I find real estate quite boring” “You can pivot a lot easier in the education space especially if you have eyeballs that trust you” “Your end goal should be to own a house” “You can literally create your own wealth path by borrowing money” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter https://robmoore.com/podbooks rob.team ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. Our podcast has arrived this week! We show the breadth of our range, we go heavy, we go light. To start, Rob Kutner comes by to discuss the WGA Strike with host Neal Pollack. Both Rob and Neal are "inactive" WGA members, but Rob is out on the pickets with a Guild almost entirely united in solidarity. The producers and the big corporations are really putting the screws to writers these days. Neal and Rob talk about the inadequacy of the compensation, the inequity within the Guild itself, and the looming specter of AI that hangs over the entire industry. And they close with a rousing chorus of 'Solidarity Forever.'Next up, James Porter, a contributor to our sibling publication, Rock and Roll Globe, appears to discuss his review of the terrific new Little Richard documentary, 'I Am Everything.' A passionate Little Richard fan, James is happy to see one of his musical heroes getting his due. He and Neal both really enjoyed the interviews with old bandmates and family members, Neal liked the information about fringe drag performers in the 1950s, and James enjoyed the clips from Little Richard's old blues numbers before he became a megastar in the mid-1950s. Neal could take or leave the academic talking heads, who get too much screen time, but James is correct when he states that they don't actually say anything wrong. Really fun movie, worth checking out.And while 'Guardians of the Galaxy 3' needs no extra boost, Neal and guest Scott Gold both had a good time at James Gunn's swan song to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Scott says that the movie maybe relies a little too much on slow-motion walking scenes. Neal isn't in love with the more modern music choices. And they both feel like the two-and-a-half hours leads to some repetitive scenes, if not some narrative bloat. But there can be no doubt that Guardians 3 is still fun and weird, and, especially as regards the origin story of Rocket Raccoon, genuinely scary and gruesome. A finger-wagging "no so fast" to anyone who says that the MCU is dead.My god, isn't that enough? Enjoy the podcast!
Looking at ways to enhance, restore or rewild our biodiversity, although crucially important for many ecosystem services that we depend upon for survival, they should not be seen as separate issues to actions to adapt or mitigate against any impacts of climate change. In this engaging discussion from two very experienced, passionate and eloquent voices, we hear from Ray O'Foghlu, a Nuffield scholar, Wild Atlantic Rainforest Project Lead & Farm Programmes Coordinator at Hometree. We are also joined by Rob Gandola, a Legacy4Life Pond Development Officer, Senior Science Officer of The Herpetological Society of Ireland, Wildlife Consultant and occasional TV presenter. In this open and honest discussion, Ray spoke about the need of getting communities on board with any work on land to enhance, restore or rewild it and listen to their genuine concerns. Also, the need for getting the basics rights, enacting and enforcing what we should be doing now, is a crucial first step in improving our biodiversity in Ireland. Rob also spoke about the importance of getting buy-in from all stakeholders, through awareness raising, while listening to the concerns of the local people impacted on any biodiversity enhancements or rewilding, thereby building trust and enabling a much better outcome for all concerned. Both Rob and Ray would love to see a National Wetland Restoration Scheme set up, which could go a long way to restoring lost wetlands, while providing many ecosystem services, such as improving habitats and enhancing our carbon sink capabilities. On today's podcast we're talking about PragerU, the infamous and growing conservative nonprofit that's probably best known for its YouTube channel with recent uploads like “Why I Sued My Daughter's Woke School”, “What Kinds of Shows is PBS Making Now?”, and “Teachers are Training Marxist Revolutionaries.” Which on its face is quite a silly thing to talk about, but this channel receives billions of views each year and is a stronghold of conservative leaders and talking points. To help us make sense of PragerU, as well as understand what its goals and objectives are, we're joined by Rob Dickinson and Tom Cowin from the University of Sussex. Rob and Tom both have backgrounds in international relations and global policy, and together founded FRAMES project in 2020 to analyze contemporary far-right propaganda in the US, with a specific focus on PragerU. This project is virtually the first of its kind, with essentially no coverage of PragerU in academic circles. This podcast dives into the methodology and role of PragerU in the education sphere, offering educators reasons why they should care, why they need to be informed, and what actions they can take to stop PragerU from propagandizing students/other educators.GUESTSRob Dickinson, leads the African Cabinet and Political Elite Data project, working with the Scaling-up Packages of Interventions for Cardiovascular disease prevention in selected sites in Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa (SPICES) project, and researches how the Trump Administration may fit into historical patterns of neoliberalism as a candidate for a PhD in International Relations at the University of Sussex.Tom Cowin, delivers undergraduate teaching in International Relations, International Political Economy, and Globalisation and Global Governance at the University of Sussex. He previously held the position Doctoral Tutor Representative for IR, sits on the Management Committee for the weekly PGR-led Chapter Chats sessions and is a Postgraduate Researcher Representative for Sussex UCU.Both Rob and Tom are co-founders of the FRAMES project to study far-right propaganda in the United States, with a specific focus on PragerU.RESOURCESThe Alt-Education Pipeline: PragerU (Writing)Alt-Right Pipeline 2: Electric PragerU (YouTube, Zoe Bee) Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022. Today, Rob Fazio enjoys yet another warm welcome to the As Told By Nomads podcast. Specializing in global leadership and success as a Partner at Onpoint Advising, Rob talks to Tayo today about his upcoming book Bully Proof, a how to guide on influencing alphas and wielding strength in professional settings. The two open up the conversation by discussing Cancel Culture and its toxicity, and how, in a world in which views and opinions become more and more polarized each day, it's beneficial to start honing these skills of influence and power. In response to the rise of polarization and bullying, Rob has created a variety of acronyms in his book that include tips about empathy and alignment, strength and plans, and obstacles and outcomes. Both Rob and Tayo concede that it isn't an easy task to adopt a new behavior, especially one that feels unnatural, and that it can be hard to find strength in a situation you previously surrendered to. There is, however, great growth in discomfort, and to harness this growth, we need to do away with toxic positivity, values of convenience, objects of instant gratification, and reactionary thinking. We also need to embrace change and fight with our power from within. These two good friends close out today's episode by referencing the value in critical thinking, and how we need to start interpreting the world around us through our own lenses, rather than adhering to the narrative that society tells us to believe. Once we make this happen, we will not only find more strength in ourselves, but we will open our heads and hearts to those of others, and maybe, just maybe, learn a thing or two. Directed by Dan Aykroyd. With Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroyd, John Candy, Demi Moore. We also learn what a "pudcollar" is from David?! "A financier agrees to take a lawyer to her business meeting. On the way, they run a stop sign in a small town in the middle of nowhere and are arrested. But the courthouse and the "prison" are a maze of zany booby-traps and deadly contraptions. The antics of the captured couple as they try to escape from the mad judge and his bizarre family make up the rest of this unusual film." The US economy is being driven by opposing forces, making it difficult to predict in the long term. Employment numbers are strong, and the capital markets reacted positively to the news that more Americans are returning to work. However, the Delta variant is spreading like wildfire across the US. “Everyone is clearing watching payrolls. That's what's driving the Fed, and that's what's driving the market. People are going back to work,” says Thirty Capital Analyst Jay Saunders. “We saw a big rally on Friday based on jobs. The market came down a bit today. Commodity prices, oil prices are all coming down and it's all being driven by this virus. “People will look at this and say ‘We've got to get a grip on COVID before the economy is going to open up again'.” Jay adds that the market likely won't respond much to the Consumer Price Index numbers this week, as all eyes remain on virus news. Low Rates, Refinancing Loans, Commercial Defeasance Thirty Capital CEO Rob Finlay reiterated what he's said in past episodes of CRE Capital Markets Report: “This is a very opportune time to refinance long-term debt.” Rob then posed the question of pros and cons of refinancing commercial property loans, and the issue of commercial defeasance. Analyst Jeff Lee responded: “There's a lot of history behind that sentiment. Volatility drives a lot of calls and questions.” Look At Remaining Term-To-Maturity On Loan, Not The Ten-Year “Whether the Ten-year moves from 1.10, 1.12 or up to 1.30 within a week, if people are going to ask what is that going to do to my defeasance costs or my yield maintenance or whatever fixed-term, early-exit scenario they're looking at . . . The big thing to always remember is everything is pegged off of your remaining term-to-maturity on your specific loan,” explains Jeff. “Going back to basics, you're not looking at the Ten-year as a driver of your extra costs. That is generally mismatched to the longer end where the Ten-year resides.” He explains: “So many people are reactionary to longer moves on the Ten-year, thinking it's going to impact their costs. But in reality, it really doesn't. “We're looking all across the maturity curve to do some justifications, but it comes in all different forms. Right. Everyone's deal is different and structured differently.” In this scenario, Thirty Capital is buying bonds at around two to three-year to maturity, several years off the Ten-year. What's Your Exit Cost? Both Rob and Jeff explore the process the team uses when clients want to refinance their loans. Jeff emphasizes that it's important to run the numbers and explore all possible scenarios, penalties, tax savings, and cost-saving opportunities with clients. Economy In Uncharted Waters With unemployment benefits falling in some parts of the country and evictions on hold, Thirty Capital Analyst Jason Kelley believes that the US economy is in uncharted waters. “There's a lot of excess cash in the economy right now,” he explains. “If the moratorium ends on evictions, there's so much liquidity out there I don't think we're going to see a lot of movement in asset prices.” Adds Rob: “There's a huge division between people who have money and those who don't, and it will be interesting to see how the economy operates when it's the top wage earners who are creating all the supply or demand.”

This week Rob gives an update on his last day in Bangladesh. He talks about what his and our world is like at that point in time, humanity and coming home. KEY TAKEAWAYS Making the decision to go to Bangladesh was difficult for Rob but he accepted the challenge and it was completely worth it. Life is a battle and once you accept there are always changes it becomes easier to deal with it. You have to overcome and deal with things. Both Rob and his friend got a ‘sixth sense’ that they needed to return home. So they decided to trust this feeling, even though it means there are some things that will be left 'undone'. Values vary considerably around the world. We can’t expect everyone to behave the same way, it’s far more complicated than that. Rob goes home tomorrow, without a care in the world. The experience of being in Bangladesh has changed him. BEST MOMENTS “Sometimes you have many decisions to make” “We are fragile in our greatness…having that perspective, that realisation that we’re here as blessed beings that get an opportunity to live on this planet and engage in free will” “This whole experience has changed me” VALUABLE RESOURCES Leader Manager Coach Podcast ABOUT THE HOST Rob Ryles is a UEFA A licensed coach with a League Managers Association qualification and a science and medicine background. So here we are at the end of 2020. A year I'm sure that everyone around the world wants to put behind them, I certainly do. The December 2020 edition of UP! takes us out of this year with a bang and a collection of awesome house and club mixes. The set kicks off with the Charlie Lane mix of "Everybody's Lost" by Ananya then slides into Ariana Grande's new track "34 + 35" which adds up to 69 - just sayin'. The Cube Guys have hit back with a stellar cover of Whitney Houston's "Love Will Save The Day". I put a throwback track from Danny Howells ft. Erire in the set because the Hoxton Whores remix of "Dusk 'Til Dawn" is so good. The set shifts to a happy main room sound with Jason Derulo's huge hit "Savage Love", Miley Cyrus' hit "Midnight Sky" and an amazing Toy Armada remix of Kylie's "Magic". Nick Stracener takes Tina Turner's "What's Love Got To Do With It" to another level and Kelly Clarkson delivers a standout vocal on her track "I Dare You". Steps are back with their pop hit "What The Future Holds" and Cyndi Lauper's new song "Hope" is beautifully mixed by Tracy young to close out the set. I'd like to take a moment to thank some people, both friends and in the music world for helping to keep me on track this year, personally and in the music production scene. Rob Ladic (aka Division 4) has been so supportive and I love our lunch get togethers in Sydney. Both Rob and Wayne G (whom I've known for years) have been extremely generous providing me with their private remixes for which I am very grateful. To Matt Consola at Swishcraft Music and the boys from Dirty Disco I say a big, heartfelt thank you & the same to Nick Stracener in Dallas. Personally, my friends Aaron, Mark, Deb, Jason, Daryl, Matt & Anthony, David & Derek, Ben, Mark & Michael, Mat, Tim & Anna and my brothers Cameron & Nick, you have all helped me through a difficult year and I thank you for it. And finally to all the music fans who have followed, supported and liked my podcasts. Your support means a lot to me. So here's to a brighter 2021. The Drink of the Week Today on the fourth episode of Season 3 on the Bois & Bar Talk podcast, the Drink of the Week is Passion Fruit Gose by Two Roads Brewing Co. According to Two Road's official website description, Passion Fruit Gose has, "A nose of BIG tropical fruit, the taste is of light wheat and a perfect harmony of tartness and sweet fruit". This unique ale is also brewed in their tanker truck trailer. How We Rated Passion Fruit Gose Both of us admitted we aren't experienced in the sour game of drinks although we want to break into them more. We agree that sours are an acquired taste but with a 5.2% ABV, it wasn't an overpowering ale. It was a drink different from what we were used to but wasn't too bitter on the back end. We both decided that we would drink it again. Rob's Rating: 6.5/10 Kev's Rating: 6.7/10 Episode 4 Show Notes We expanded on personalities from episode 3 after rating our drink. Both Rob and Kev took a personality test and actually had the same personality out of 16 types (ENFP). It's a personality type with vibrant energy and loves to find deeper meaning in just about anything. We both live a life without structure and do actions based on how we are feeling in the moment. We'll link the website where you can take the free test. You find out a lot about yourself. We also touched on the process of manifestation and whether we think it's real or not. It's common for people to visualize what they want in life and claim it works. Overall we think simply writing down your goals is a powerful method of manifestation. Kev shared his take since he always writes and records music. Not only writing is powerful, but listening to his voice back through a song gives him a strong visualization of the things he wants in life. Looking for More? Too many copywriters have a limiting belief around how much they can charge for their services, so our guest for the 204th episode of The Copywriter Club Podcast is Jereshia Hawk, a high-ticket sales coach who shared how we can overcome that mindset issue. But that’s not all we talked about. We also covered… • how she became known for helping clients increase high-ticket sales • how her “engineering” approach shifts her thinking about products, problems and failure • overcoming objections—after the sale • why she carves out an hour on Monday’s for “superthinking” • her thoughts on building a team (and our role as an “employee” of your company) • what a personal performance review should look like (questions you can ask) • the zero sum budget approach to goal setting • how copywriters can overcome the idea that they can’t make a lot of money • the first steps toward building a high-ticket offer (like as much as $40K or more) • the simplicity rule that can instantly help you sell more • the POP method that helps you synthesize your offer and audience • her “champagne closer method” that completely changes a sales call • rethinking the free content you provide and what it has to do • the one metric everyone with a business needs to know
The Borough We Became: Queens Residents On Life During COVID-19
The Queens Memory Project brings you the fifth episode of season two of the Queens Memory Podcast. This season we have collected the documented experiences of Queens residents during the COVID-19 Pandemic. In this episode, we hear from first responders of color who have been on the front lines of the pandemic from the very beginning. Diana Wilson has been an EMT with the New York Fire Department for 17 years in Springfield Gardens. Rob Semple has been a firefighter with the FDNY in Corona for less than a year. Both Rob and Diana are first responders during the COVID-19 pandemic. Rob, who is new to the force, remembers their 20-week training being cut short by two weeks in order to get more firefighters in the field as soon as possible to help with the pandemic. Indeed, medical 911 calls to the FDNY rose from 4,000 to 6,500 per day, including a notable spike in calls involving cardiac arrest, and a 400% increase in cardiac arrest home deaths. Diana notes a new rule for paramedics, implemented because of the pandemic: Limit your use of CPR. This rule was put in place by the Regional Emergency Medical Services Council of New York City, in an attempt to keep COVID-19 positive people from entering hospitals and infecting others. However, following widespread objections, the New York Health Department rescinded the order. Previously, according to New York City EMS protocol, CPR should be initiated to all patients in a state of cardiac arrest, unless signs of obvious death are present or the patient has Do Not Resuscitate orders in place. Diana and Rob discuss the emotional toll they have felt during these trying times. Diana lost her husband to an illness in April 2019, and after COVID-19 took hold in New York City, she sent her children to live somewhere outside of the epicenter. She reports feeling isolated without her family around her, especially after two of her colleagues died by suicide in the midst of the pandemic. Similarly, Rob notes that many of their fellow firefighters find comfort in spouses and significant others, which Rob does not have. While the FDNY offers mental health support, neither Diana nor Rob have utilized it, though both encourage people to find support within their communities. Rob also reflects on the unifying effect 9/11 had on the FDNY as a result of so much shared loss, and they lament that the pandemic hasn’t brought about the same response. Fellow EMS worker Christell Cadet tested positive for COVID-19 in March and was told to come into work anyway. (In the early days of the pandemic this was not unheard of because hospitals were so overwhelmed.) Cadet has asthma, a respiratory condition which she is 20% more likely to have as a Black American woman than a non-Hispanic white American woman. Eventually, Cadet went to the hospital, where her condition worsened and she was put in a medically induced coma and placed on a ventilator. (COVID-19 patients that require ventilators are always put into comas.) Cadet awoke from her coma a month later. All medical personnel responding to the COVID-19 pandemic work long hours, are under immense stress, and literally put their lives at risk while working. It is an incredibly dangerous job, and workers like Cadet and 100,000 others have paid a high price. For this reason, there has been a widespread call for hazard pay to be distributed to essential workers, like medical staff, who put their lives on the line for us all. Hazard Pay has been a point of contention between first responders and the government since the onset of the pandemic. “Hazard Pay” is additional pay for workers performing hazardous duties. Diana, as an EMS worker, has not received hazard pay for working on the front lines of the deadly pandemic. She reports hearing that doctors and nurses received hazard pay -- which could be because certain private hospitals and private companies have offered bonuses or increased pay for employees working in hazardous conditions. Yet no city or state funding for hazard pay has been passed in New York -- meaning no front line medical workers in city hospitals have seen any additional payment for battling COVID first-hand. Governor Cuomo has expressed support for hazard pay. Early on he called for 50% hazard pay to come from the federal government. He has supported the passage of the Heroes Act, which would allocate $200 billion for hazard pay. While the act was passed by the House of Representatives in May, it - or any other stimulus package - has yet to be passed by the Senate. The pay gap between FDNY employees has long been a point of contention, even before COVID-19. As noted in the episode: Starting pay for FDNY EMT is $35,000 and rises to $50,000 over five years. Starting pay for FDNY paramedics is $48,000 and rises to $65,000 over five years. Starting pay for FDNY firefighters is $45,000 and rises to $110,000 over five years. Starting pay for NYPD officers is $42,000 and rises to $85,000, with an upwards estimate of $100,000 with overtime and other benefits. As discussed in last week's episode of Queens Memory, the Black Lives Matter movement has swept the nation. Breonna Taylor was a 26-year-old black woman who worked as an EMT in Louisville, KY. On March 13, she was shot and killed by Louisville police while asleep in her bed. Diana discusses her fears about raising children in a time and place where they will be judged by the color of their skin. Rob shares their dismay that the pandemic hasn’t slowed the murder of black, brown, and trans people. Indeed, the number of police shootings in 2020 shows no significant change from the same timeframe in 2019 and 2018. Instead, murders of transgender people in 2020 has surpassed last year’s total. Rob and Diana have noticed a lack of cultural and racial awareness among their colleagues. In Queens, where half the residents identify as POC or BIPOC, emergency response workers like EMS or firefighters must work quickly and comfortably in homes of families whose cultures may be unfamiliar to them. FDNY EMS workers are made up of 54% racial minorities, while firefighters are only 22% racial minorities. Cultural Competency in Disaster Response is the awareness of culture, race, gender, class, age, and faith in an emergency and being able to work professionally while respecting the different factors that may play into the encounter. Training materials can be found online, but it is unclear if Cultural Competency training is provided to or required of FDNY workers. This episode of Queens Memory was produced by Jordan Gass-Poore’ in conjunction with Sam Riddell, Anna Williams, Jo-Ann Wong, and Natalie Milbrodt. Editing by Anna Williams with mixing by Briana Stodden and music from Elias Ravin and the Blue Dot Sessions. Special thanks for funding support from the New York Community Trust. Queens Memory is an ongoing community archiving program by the Queens Public Library and Queens College, CUNY.
In this episode, our 16th, the boys sit down to talk about the extreme amount of news to come out in recent weeks as the film industry attempts to climb its way out of the coronavirus set delays and issues and make a plan for the coming months and years ahead. Before we get to that though, we follow up a conversation from the last episode and both pick what we think are 5 perfect films each, before looking at all the delays for Disney and its plans for more (possibly pointless) live-action remakes. Both Rob and Ryan talk excitedly about seeing Rick Moranis in the Disney Plus series Prop Culture, before moving on to discuss John Wick, Matrix and Saw sequels. Josh Gad gets a lot of chat this week for numerous reasons, non-more so than his reunion specials. Lego PSA's and Lego Movie ownership is talked about also, as well as more Mission Impossible updates.Spider-man movie changes make us question if peak superhero will be early to mid-2021, with 4 Marvel films in about 5 months due to rescheduling after coronavirus delays. We also discuss some upcoming Netflix films, Stallone willing Demolition Man 2 into life, Deadpool dramas, Avatar sequels and how to film motion capture underwater, and the link between James Cameron and Paul W.S. Anderson and the link between James Cameron and Tom Cruise shooting a film in space. As well as that idea too. We talk about how to get yourself into Bill and Ted and Jurassic World sequels, or rather how you could have, Tiger King casting ideas, a return for the Scream franchise, more Mad Max and more Transformers - in both live-action and animated forms. Ryan talks about Val Kilmer's Batman and why he only did one film. Rob gets giddy about how much of a pickle Seth Rogen's next film is, Ryan follows that up with how excited he is about the upcoming Space Force on Netflix. And the two discuss the situation of Universal vs Cinema Companies and the impact it has on both filmmakers and filmgoers. And to top it all off we cover numerous celeb news and finally explain who would like to throw a bag of dog poo at Donald Trump. It's not who or what you'd expect. Please like, subscribe, share, and enjoy! And as always many thanks to Martin (Rammy) for his wonderful work on our graphics, www.rammy.at
James and Rob from indie quartet Marsicans send in an update from from Leeds today. Fulled by multiple cups of tea, they got on the phone to each other and let us listen in. Lockdown chat veers from the serious - lack of work for crew, cancelled SXSW debuts - to the downright surreal - isolating with The Rock, and reclining toilet roll sofas. Both Rob and James have been putting this time to good use, writing new music on old laptops, and experimenting with remote recording techniques. The fifth episode of The Food Coma Podcast welcomes the Founding Brewer of Allagash Brewing in Portland, ME, Rob Tod. He has been consistently one of the most prolific brewers in the country since he founded his business in 1995, and he received the 2019 James Beard Award for Outstanding Wine, Beer, and Spirits Producer. Both Rob and I have fond memories of the '90s, especially in regard to Portland, but quite varied experiences. This is the jumping-off point, and topics range from beer (obviously) to FroYo to my life as a teenager who looked like he was 35. Sometimes I get so damn excited to discuss the 90's that I can barely complete a sentence. Sometimes we drink Allagash White. Sometimes it's hard to believe how much Rob has accomplished thus far in his impressive career. MANY thanks go to our sponsors: Tourmaline Spring Water Amethyst Elixir Company Living Nutz. In this episode I'm joined by first time guest, Rob Lauer, and repeat guest TJ VanToll, to talk about securing mobile applications from multiple perspectives. Both Rob and TJ work for Progress, the core contributors of the mobile development framework, NativeScript, but NativeScript is by no means the focus of the episode. The focus is around security, and that can mean numerous things ranging from code security, the security of any data on the device at rest, and the security of data being sent to remote web services. In this episode we break down each of these categories and give potential ideas to get beyond them. A brief writetup to this episode can be found via https://www.thepolyglotdeveloper.com/2019/02/tpdp-e24-mobile-application-security/

Adventures in Businessing: Entrepreneurship, Small Business, and a Healthy Dose of Humor
Introduction Well folks, it’s been a good run. 18 Episodes isn’t too shabby. Someone done decided to let Kevin drive this thing, and to be honest, it’s a bit of a train wreck. No offence to Kevin; I’m sure he did the best he could. Sorry, not sorry. For someone who floated naming the show after himself, Jeremy has been conspicuously absent for several episodes. Can anyone confirm that he’s actually alive? And when do the hosts start looking for a replacement? I mean, I know a snarky, humorous show notes writer that could be convinced to be on the show for the right amount of money. Get with my agent. The Show In this episode, the hosts discuss hiring your first employee. When do you know it’s the right time to hire? How do you find qualified people? The hosts suggest that the time to hire is when you find that you don’t have time to do things that energise you. James calls these areas in which you have the most impact your “super powers.” Once you are doing more admin work or other stuff that’s outside your super power, you should think about hiring someone. From the outside, Rob says that it seems like he always has what he needs. When it was time to hire his first employee, he knew someone who had just come available. When it was time for the next, he already had someone lined up. While this may seem easy, he says, it’s actually the result of cultivating relationships with awesome people. James refers to this technic with a generic sports metaphor: “keep your bench warm.” By that he means to keep your eyes open in your circle of influence to see where your next hire may come from. Keep in mind that the person you hire may not currently be performing the same job that you would need them to. That’s ok. Both Rob and James suggest that it’s more important to hire the right person and then find a position for them. Our Recommendations Rob recommends a script writing program called Slug Line, and he teaches the rest of the podcast what a Slug Line is. Of course, yours truly already knew what a Slug Line was. In fact, I have a great spec script about a secret service agent who’s also a baker that falls in love with a nerdy librarian. I wrote it for Spielberg, but he wound up passing on it because of creative differences. If you’re a big time Hollywood producer or director, let me know. Then I can finally stop writing show notes for quick cash. If you’ve got a lot of extra cash lying around, James has a great recommendation for you! Just go out and buy an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil, then download a program called Good Notes. That’ll let you replicate the usefulness of a notepad and pencil without the need to actually carry around the notebook and pencil. If you don’t have the money to invest in that setup, I’ll sell you an eyePad Pro, which is a legal pad with the eyePad logo at the top with a mechanical pencil attached via a string. You’ll get all the best parts of the Apple iPad: portability, ease of use, point and click interface, etc. without spending all that money. Just $79.99 each. Kevin decides to get super nerdy and recommend that you play a tabletop RPG like Dungeons & Dragons. He claims that it’s a great way to be creative and cooperatively tell a great story. We all know that D&D, as the kids call it, is really just Fantasy Football for nerds. Apparently nerds like Kevin think that D&D, and tabletop games like it, are mainstream enough to recommend them on a podcast about business. I remember when nerds were polite and kept that stuff to their mom’s basements. Rob volunteers Kevin to run a D&D game for you if you are in the southeastern Tennessee area.
Adventures in Businessing: Entrepreneurship, Small Business, and a Healthy Dose of Humor
Welcome to the show notes! I usually like to open with a snarky comment, but let’s face it, not even I can be on all the time. Let’s keep this one serious. Jeremy is somewhere in the Mediterranean, soaking up the sun and speaking Greek while James, Rob, and Kevin work away in the podcast mine. Fittingly, rather than being a meandering discussion about a single topic, this episode is made up of lots of advice nuggets for entrepreneurs and those that want to start their own business. Kevin and James have been up to their old tricks again: working together closely on a new business project. They both seem to enjoy it. Of course, it’s super top secret, though, and they still won't just tell us what it is. Well, that didn’t last very long. Rob has been writing a script for a university’s capital campaign. It’s hard to make a joke about capital campaigns. Rob has also decided that he’s too good for show prep. James kicks things off by suggesting that you should “do something you love, or don’t do it at all.” Great. I guess I don’t have to pay my mortgage anymore! He continues, “becoming an entrepreneur just because you want to work for yourself is a bad idea.” He claims he’s not suggesting that you should love everything about your business, but you should love most of it. Kevin’s first piece of advice is to find a partner; not everyone is designed to be a solopreneur. If you don’t think you’re cut out to start up things on your own, maybe you should find someone to take the journey with you. Rob suggests that this is a good fit for Kevin’s AIB nickname, The Fixer, which makes him sound like a direct to dvd movie starring Steven Seagal. Trust me, Kevin is no Steven Seagal. I doubt that Mr. Seagal has Kevin’s crippling social anxiety. However, if you are like Kevin, getting a partner can also help you avoid being the face of the company, so there’s that. Rob’s turn with the proverbial advice pick uncovers a vein about being the expert when approaching clients. If someone is hiring you to produce a product, or even to give them advice, it’s ok for them do disagree with your vision. If they do, however, it may be a good idea to suggest that they examine why they’ve paid for your expertise. You probably won’t find fulfillment being someone else’s yes man, even if they are paying you for it. Rob tells a story. I think I’m just going to omit the phrase: Rob tells a story in the future. If I ever write anything about Rob, assume he’s telling a story about it. This particular story is about his kids deciding to sell slime to their elderly neighbors and tricking the neighboring kids into thinking that they should sell their crayon scribbles as art. The hosts also opine about the need to create routine, especially in regards to exercise. At least they aren’t wrong about that. Both Rob and Kevin suggest that you should find a hobby outside of business. Kevin talks about his woodworking hobby. He seems to do that a lot. He also likes to mention his “workshop.” It’s a garage man. It’s a garage. Just stop it! Apparently, the “workshop” is a great place to transition from work to being at home and “present with his family.” Rob’s hobbies are fly fishing and Magic: The Gathering. He says that he enjoys both for different reasons: fishing is an escape to free his brain from thinking, which I’m not sure is as big a deal as he thinks it is, and MTG is a way for him to strategize outside of business. He must be doing pretty well over at the Alderman Group, because those are both really expensive hobbies. $320 for a playset of Force of Will? No thank you! The hosts discuss the spiritual nature of getting in touch with the classic elements. It all sounds a little too new-agey for me. I mean, I like classical Greek philosophy as much as the next person, but you’re tricking fish into biting a hook so that you can pull them into a world made of suffocation or you’re cutting down and a living thing to build a skeleton to hold books made of other trees that were cut down, chopped up, and smashed together. James has a much more concrete suggestion of a social media podcast. They do science with social media concepts, testing which ideas work and which ideas don’t. Apparently they have degrees in social media science, which sounds exactly like the major I’d expect of a professional football player. Our Recommendations Kevin: TIP - Have a non-business hobby Rob: TIP - Have a non-business hobby James: PODCAST - Social Media Lab

Both Rob and Danielle are playing a LOT of games: so many that there aren't even any letters in this episode. This week features a freewheeling discussion of Ghost Recon: Wildlands, genre-jumping in long-running franchises like Resident Evil and Zelda, and open-world design. We only barely mention The Witcher 3 in this one! Discussed: Ghost Recon: Wildlands, Resident Evil, Dead Space, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Kona, The Campaigns of Napoleon by David G. Chandler, They Can't Kill Us All by Wesley Lowry
Today I spent some time talking with Rob Pincus of I.C.E. Training about a wide variety of topics. We started out talking about our current political situation and the Second Amendment challenges that we face and what we can do about them. Somehow we spent a chunk of time talking about ammunition evolution and performance, and the hope that with engineering advances .380 might become the standard. Both Rob and I have been testing the Safer Faster Defense Responder which is an ankle rig designed by Alessandro Padovani that is a great way to carry your medical essentials. The conversation about medical gear lead into the civilian response to violence and spree killings and how we can make sure that we respond in a manner that is beneficial to those involved and also keeps us safe from others that may be responding to the situation. Distance Education is an endeavor that PDN has been involved in since 2012 and Rob filled us in on the new interaction with Law Enforcement course that recently launched on the website. FInally we chatted about the Avidity Arms PD10 and some of the other highlights of SHOT Show 2017. Subscribe to the Safety Solutions Academy Podcast and leave a rating and review. In our Exclusive Patron only content we chatted about how to make sure that you aren't buying into your own BS. Become a Patron of the Safety Solutions Academy Podcast.
This week's episode was a very special episode of the Spotlight Podcast, as the show was filmed for the first time in front of a live audience at CENTURY 21 Canada Conference 2016 in Vancouver. While Eryn couldn't fill his usual spot as co-host this week, filling in for him was Brian Rushton, Executive Vice President of CENTURY 21 Canada. We talked to Brian along with our other guests (Rob Vivian, owner of Rob Vivian Coaching and Chris Leader, Master Trainer and Owner of Leader's Edge Training) about their 'origin stories'... Where they started out, and how they ended up in their current positions they've found themselves in today. Find out more information about our guests on their respective websites below. Both Rob and Chris have deep roots in the CENTURY 21 system, and are well respected trainers in the industry. The band's back together…After last week's interlude, franchise season continues with the Wachowskis' 1999 movie THE MATRIX. Both Rob and Sam have a different take on this film than their teenaged selves; we talk technical experiences, cinematic turning-points, and dystopian worlds. This Week's Viewing ROLLERBALL (1975): Norman Jewison, James Caan, John Houseman MEMENTO (2000): Christopher Nolan, Guy Pearce, Carrie-Anne Moss MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013–): Joss Whedon, Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE (2001): Chris Columbus, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint RECOMMENDATIONS AVATAR (2009): James Cameron, Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana BOUND (1996): the Wachowskis, Jennifer Tilly, Gina Gershon GHOST IN THE SHELL (1995): Mamoru Oshii, Atsuko Tanaka, Akio Ōtsuka FIGHT CLUB (1999): David Fincher, Brad Pitt, Edward Norton FOOTNOTES First of all, Sam would like to make it clear that any mention of the Wachowskis as 'brothers' on his part was a reference to the pre-transition state in which they lived while the first film was being shot. For more on their status as Hollywood's first openly transgender directors, see here (number 2) and here. Sam starts the episode by mentioning a stunning comic about film history and technology (it's a whole lot better than that makes it sound), Edward Ross's Filmish (2015). The Wachowski Sisters have stated their indebtedness to Jean Baudrillard's Simulacres et simulation (1981) — this isn't just Sam drawing unfounded academic conclusions; Neo actually uses a copy of the book as a hiding-place at the beginning of the film, and you can read about the directors insistence that all the actors familiarised themselves with the work, here. If it really tickles your fancy, here's the original. This article has an explanation of the ‘bullet time' effect we discuss. And finally, this is a thorough analysis, including references to many interesting aspects of the film.
Join your hosts Rob Galluzzo, Elric Kane, Rebekah McKendry and Ryan Turek as they gather 'round the table to talk all the latest horrors! In celebration of Dario Argento's birthday, the group throw out their favorite Argento films. Both Rob & Elric saw & discuss Rob Zombie's latest '31.' Bekah checked out the Scorpion Releasing Blu of HARLEQUIN. Elric reports back on I AM NOT A SERIAL KILLER and the bonkers 1982 cult film THE INCUBUS. Ryan revisited the original MUMMY, which sparked a discussion on the Universal Monster Movies. And Rob advocates the work of director Jim Mickle after seeing his two latest films COLD IN JULY and WE ARE WHAT WE ARE. Then the gang welcome very special guest Jordan Peele to the show! Despite being most well known for his comedy work on the show KEY & PEELE, as well as this year's feature KEANU, Peele recently wrapped up production on a straight horror film with Blumhouse Productions titled GET OUT. And through that experience, we discovered his love of the genre. So we delve into how he got into horror through FANGORIA magazine as a kid, his favorite theatrical experiences, how horror has influenced his comedic work & the correlations between the two, what his top 5 genre movies are and much, much more in this fun, laid back candid chat. Sit back, relax and join the conversation!
In this week's episode, Rob & Rob talk about getting a mortgage when you're not yet a property owner. Rob B says that there are a lot of mortgage lenders out there, but as a non home owner, and not yet a property investor, the pool of products available are actually quite small. Rob B goes on to say that in 6 months time there will be more options. Both Rob and Rob discuss the options available to you and say how important it is to have a good mortgage advisor. Today's episode is brought to you by pickle-powered pies. We talk about news that revolves around artificial intelligence, 360° videos and Bagpuss. But possibly not all at the same time. Our intrepid duo then talk about design convergence, and whether that's a good thing. Answer: It probably isn't. Both Rob(democratically)and Jon(autocratically) ended up with pickle-infused pies. And we can honestly say that this is not a good thing either.

This week was host to one of the biggest betas of the year, The Division. Both Rob and Don have played it and have some pretty strong thoughts about it, but do they like it or loath it? Stay tuned until our final section to find out. But before all that, we've got some news for you. Black Ops 3 is getting a multiplayer-only release on the PC; a shit load of people played Fallout Shelter as it turns out; Pokemon turns 20 years old this week; the HTC Vive VR headset finally has a price; news on when console players can expect Fallout 4 mods; and much more! Plus, don't forget that we've got a nutritious helping of Hot Goss Ip for you that you can't afford to miss (except that you totally can.) All of that plus some tasty bonuses for you, like our "Sad C**t of the Week;" your weekly Video Game Music Segment; the latest update on Gareth's impending Disneyland adventure; how Rob embarrassed himself this week; and what Don got for his (I assume) 50th birthday. It's a wonder we're able to cram it all into just 90 short minutes! (Right-click the file and select "Save as" to download it, or left-click to listen in your browser)
