Hello and thank you for downloading another episode of The Flixters Podcast!  On this week's episode we're talking about revenge seeking unicorns and deep sea diving. Let's get one thing straight, the trailer for Death of a Unicorn, is absolutely bonkers. Father and daughter duo, played by Paul Rudd and Jenny Ortega, accidentally knock over a unicorn (yes, a unicorn!) said unicorn's special healing powers are extracted, and used by a rich family (as you do), and to make matters worse, said unicorn's mum and dad aren't best pleased with their little bundle of joy being carved up for rich white people's pleasure.   What ensues is total carnage. Unicorn style of course. We also discuss Last Breath, an edge of your seat thriller (based on a true story) about a deep sea diving mission in the North Sea that goes horribly wrong. Check out the show for what we thought, and if you've seen the film hit us up on our YouTube channel and let us know your thoughts. On Anniversary Corner we look back at Into The Blue (2005)And if that's not enough entertainment for you, we've even thrown in new trailers to watch and what you can catch on streaming. Thank you for supporting us and we hope you enjoy the show! 00:00 Intro 02:56 Shoutouts05:06 Movie News16:19 New on Streaming20:56 New Trailers27:30 Anniversary Corner29:25 Last Breath Review41:30 Death of a Unicorn Review48:34 OutroThis episode is proudly sponsored by Zencastr. Create your podcast today! #madeonzencastr

The deplaning playlist, the matter of subtraction, and forgoing the visual aspect of the television show “Succession.” Aaron Frazer (Durand Jones & The Indications, Aaron Frazer, Okonski) Aaron Frazer - Full Performance (LIVE on 88.5FM The SoCal Sound)- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uj6xrZpMsaA&t=1201s "“Into The Blue is the clearest portrait of who I am as an artist. It's me through and through,” says multi-instrumentalist Aaron Frazer. Following his acclaimed 2021 debut, Into the Blue is expansive- a daring blend of soul, psychedelia, spaghetti western, disco, gospel and hip-hop, representing the impressive range of Frazer's sonic talents. Frazer maintains the unmistakable falsetto and classic songwriting he's known for, but plants Into the Blue firmly in the now with a hip-hop mentality at its core, weaving together genres and production techniques to form something new. The opener, “Thinking of You,” is harmony-laden soul drawing inspiration from legendary Harlem trio Black Ivory over a bed of strings. “Lonely nights like this, still I feel your kiss,” Frazer coos nostalgically in his high register. Later, on “Time Will Tell,” he plaintively considers the end of a relationship, “trying to figure out // how love went from sweet to sour.” Into The Blue was conceived, like so many classic records, out of heartbreak. Following the end of a long relationship, Frazer moved cross-country from Brooklyn to Los Angeles and embarked on a journey that's reflected in the album's themes of grief, loneliness, and searching for healing. “Into The Blue really means heading into the unknown. That has been the last year of my life and I'm still in the blue,” Frazer explains. “But there are also songs here that celebrate love and the giddiness of a new relationship and all that. That's part of a breakup to me, processing the whole thing, remembering the things that were right as much as the things that were wrong.” The title track, “Into The Blue”, is a haunting, resolute anthem, combining cinematic strings and tough-as-nails breakbeats as Frazer heads west. “Here I go, to a place where the broken heart knows,” he sings. “It's all I can do. Back into the blue.” Frazer wrote on every track and played several live instruments on the album. “Payback” is an explosive dancefloor heater, featuring shimmering tambourines and driving" Excerpt from https://aaronfrazermusic.com Aaron Frazer: Bandcamp: https://aaronfrazermusic.bandcamp.com/album/introducing Instagram: @aaron_frazer Website: https://aaronfrazermusic.com Records: https://www.coleminerecords.com/collections/aaron-frazer Merch: https://shop.aaronfrazermusic.com Durand Jones & The Indications Bandcamp: https://durandjonesandtheindications.bandcamp.com/merch Instagram: @durandjonesandtheindications Website: https://durandjonesandtheindications.com Records: https://www.secretlystore.com/private-space-durand-jones-and-the-indications Merch: https://store.durandjonesandtheindications.com The Vineyard: Instagram: @thevineyardpodcast Website: https://www.thevineyardpodcast.com Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSn17dSz8kST_j_EH00O4MQ/videos

The Joy Formidable - "Into the Blue" from the 2021 album Into The Blue on Enci Records. Welsh band The Joy Formidable return with their first new music in three years. Today's Song of the Day is the title track from their forthcoming fifth album, Into The Blue, out August 20th. While the song was written in their hometown of Wales, it was completed in their new adopted home of Utah, which is also where the accompanying music video was filmed.  “I am always daydreaming in the bathtub between recordings," frontwoman Rhiannon “Ritzy” Bryan says of the watery clip. “That diffuse thinking where your mind wanders freely — I always finish songs when I'm in that state. The idea that your imagination, that escape into another, deeper world can sometimes create a stronger connection with yourself.” She describes today's Song of the Day as being "about surrendering to love and magic," adding, “Having the courage to enjoy a new journey and the mystery and excitement of something unexpected. It's about opening your eyes to beauty and love again. Making it to the other side. Whilst not conceived as a metaphor for the times we all live in now, it certainly turned out that way.” Read the full post on KEXP.org Support the show: https://www.kexp.org/donate See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Ashley Scott. You know Ashley from her work from Into The Blue, Dark Angel, and Birds Of Prey and of course my favorite because we were costars...Jericho! What you may not know is how amazing her work at being her true self is. In this episode, Ashley very honestly speaks about finding her way back to herself after two failed relationships, struggles with her career and self-esteem, and how mothering her two glorious daughters taught her to be gentle with herself. Ashley thanks the amazing people at The Jewish Family Services for helping her and her family. Toma Uno - Canciones para un año raro - 05/07/20

Toma uno

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 5, 2020 59:00

Great podcast here! I got to sit down with the hosts of Into The Blue television, Scott Walker and Steve Rodgers. It was hard for me to get around to do this podcast but we found some time and got it done. We also got to have Jake Perry, who does our underwater filming, sit down with us and tell us about a swordfish that attacked him. If you know anything about swordfish, you know that they are no joke and Jake was very fortunate to come out of that situation unscathed.  Learn more about your ad choices. Music is my life.I love to sing, write, play and tell stories about a life I had perfectly planned. Those plans went more curly than straight, teaching me that too many plans are laughable while those curves inform my Muse.My 9th studio album feels like my first. “Into The Blue”, produced and largely co-written by Ken Whiteley is the sum of a 43 year artistic journey. It comes straight from the heart and the songs reflect a deep desire to move forward in my musical life authentically, with an eye on looking back at where it all began.“Into The Blue” dropped April 8, 2017, charting on Stingray Music, The Blues Radio Network, CBC, Toronto Blues Society Charts, Blues and Routes Radio, and Folk Routes to name a few. The music is heavily influenced by Blues, Roots, Gospel, Folk and the varied tapestry woven at family Kitchen Parties courtesy of my native Nova Scotian childhood.I am humbled to have been mentored by Ken Whiteley, my music could not have been placed in better hands. The songs are reflective and meant to create hope and optimism through strength, perseverance, trust and spirit. We cannot get enough of that in the world.Gratefully, I will be out and about playing some tunes and spinning some yarns for those of you who might like to come to the shows. I anticipate putting a few miles on the RV in 2018, guitar in hand, so keep your eye on my site for dates near you and drop in and say hello.I look forward to making your acquaintance and may all your blues be the musical kind.~ Kim Doolittle

Nothing unusual about decades-long film franchises and their characters - from SHERLOCK HOLMES and ZORRO, to SUPERMAN, JAMES BOND and more. What is rare however is to have one actor portray a single character over those decades. And as both performer and character matures and changes physically, emotionally and otherwise, we as the audience also mature and change with them. To be introduced as a child to a Han Solo, Rocky Balboa or Mr. Spock by one's parent, then as a parent to take your children to a new film featuring that performer and character - often on screen with their children!, is an emotionally unique cinematic experience - the kind of which, hey, admit it, in recent films such as THE FORCE AWAKENS and CREED has been responsible for more than a few eye-watering responses. Craig and Jim get personal in this one, diving into and dissecting five beloved cinematic icons (well, four individuals and one couple) - each portrayed by the same actor or actress over 25 - 50 years, relating their initial reactions as children through to their (at times surprising) interpretation / opinions of them today. And it's not necessarily what you might expect. Our special “CAN YA' DIG IT?” interview guests include:* STACI LAYNE WILSON: As a freelance entertainment reporter Staci's worked for AOL/Time-Warner, HGTV, SyFy Channel, Yahoo! I've been in the middle of a busy run of great some great gigs lately, so I felt inspired to do not one, but two, new podcasts. There's just been too much great new music out lately to limit it to just one set (or, to one sound!). Part one features a much more gay dancefloor sound. Part two (April Showers - A Little EDM'y ... forthcoming) will have a different sound with much harder beats (with my eye looking towards Coachella in two weeks!), but still with lots of vocals. If you enjoy my podcast, would you please consider making a donation to my AIDS/LifeCycle fundraising efforts for 2014. I won't be playing as many gigs in May because I'll be busy on the bike training for this 550-mile ride from SF to LA the first week of June to raise money to help those living with HIV and AIDS.
