Birthing my first medicine drum offered me up many reflections on living from your Sovereign Womb. Crafting my own Shamanic Drum was a profound experience that I can feel will continue to seed and bloom new wisdom. Birthing a drum is often seen as a gateway into your inner workings to review and reflect on your own birthing experiences, creative processes and ways in which you “birth”… This was certainly true for me in my experience but instead of facing shadows and spaces within yet healed I was able to meet with my “birthing process” from a healed and sovereign space. In this live I reflect upon what it means to live and move through life from your Sovereign, Wise and Surrendered Sacred Womb. Free of the control, perfectionism, expectations and self judgments that we often live with. Instead able to move in a symbiotic relationship with surrender, ease and flow AND with focus, presence, mindfulness and forward momentum. Tune in and share your thoughts. I feel shy this week. A little like a new mama about to introduce her baby to her Tribe for the first time. Except in so many ways I am the baby and my medicine drum is the mama. For the past 6 months I have been on an epic journey, to birth and initiate a medicine drum. As with all epic journeys this one started out with a simple intention and then took on a life of its own - as I held the tail of the comet and allowed the unfurling to move through me. On the surface there were motions, actions, words, and deeds. Underneath all of that were the alchemical, shamanistic weavings of opening a portal for an entirely new octave of healing and possibilities for my life and my work. It’s a tricky story to tell. It is both simple and complex. Dark and Light. Throughout this journey I have been humbled by how outmaneuvered I have been by all the forces that conspired to entrust the spirit of this potent portal to my care. I know nothing and I am everything. In her first public appearance in the form of the Medicine Drum, Nuru, I was honored to introduce my teacher on Wednesday. We are just beginning to learn one another. To explore our work together and forge a relationship that serves and heals. Our road feels like a long one to come and also like a remembering of many many roads that came before. This birthing was not done by me alone (or by me at all…) but instead was mid-wifed by a Wise Old Soul of a sister. She arrived not long after I finally opened myself to a mentor. She showed up without fanfare and full of service and was leading and guiding me on the deepest levels before I had time to get in the way. She slid under my cracks in the most skillful and unassuming ways and held exquisitely masterful space for the manifestation of a miracle. She is known in this lifetime as Andrea Lougheed. I invited Andrea to join me on the show this week to weave this story for you. As has been my experience with Nuru all along… the details of the story are unclear to me from within it. But, my sense is that there is powerful medicine in the mystery of it. Medicine still for me and also for you, my sister.
