Mark Whittle and his cool, relaxed energy are contagious; no wonder why many athletes reach out to him for coaching. His positive impact contributed to many football (soccer) teams improving their performance and winning trophies. He has the ability to speak the right words to accommodate your communicative needs at any given moment. Want to get a taste of that? Check out this episode of the Super Entrepreneurs Podcast where Mark talks about some of his inner-working techniques. Who Is Mark Whittle? First of all, unlike most people, Mark Whittle is a Monday person; he likes to start his week with a positive vibe. That's why he spends his Sunday writing about his goals for the week… Anyway, that's just a snippet of what his attitude is like. Mark Whittle is Performance & Life Coach, Motivational Speaker, Podcast Host, and Mental Health Advocate. He inherited his talent for igniting the spark of inspiration and motivation from his father, an old-school coach, something Mark improved upon by focusing more on the internal world. How is Mark Whittle Super? Mark Whittle's super power is his sense of humor and resilience. Nothing can truly impact him negatively with such a mindset because even set-backs and negativity are seen through a humorous, positive lens. Remember, TRAGEDY+TIME=COMEDY… Shahid Durrani's Key Insight: Shahid Durrani is always happy to have guests like Mark Whittle, not that the other guests make him any less happier. It's just a different form of happiness, and for a very good reason: Mark Whittle understands the true power of internal work and the power of building a strong foundation and a mindset. Mark speaks from a place of wisdom and value; that's why his work is a great service to society. It creates the lens that we use to see the world with; it creates our perception, and creates all our experiences. (...) So, before we understand that, why would you look within?... Because we live on the external…” “It's like opening Pandora's box (looking within). Once you open it, that's it…” “You gotta get out of your own way.” “The ownership becomes the most freeing thing…” “When you point one finger at somebody, there are three fingers pointing at you (ambiguous? In trying to conjure an image of the Buddha after hearing this story, one might picture a simple, contemplative man with a serene smile and, especially after his time as a starving ascetic, possibly slightly malnourished. Indeed, in India, Nepal and throughout Southeast Asia, Buddha is commonly depicted as tall, slender and serene. However, we are also familiar with the image of the “Fat Buddha”, “Laughing Buddha” or “The Happy Chinaman” – a short, well-fed, jolly man whose belly one can rub for good luck. This figure is popular in China and those areas to which Chinese cultural influence spread. Artwork of him from past to present shows him laughing gleefully – a stark contrast with the legendary Buddha. The Laughing Buddha is often conflated with the historical Buddha in spite of the distinct visual differences in their depictions, but they were different people. Why is proper composting so important to a farm’s success, and how can you make sure you have the right compost for the best outcomes? Today we’re happy to host Grant and Kate Estrade of Laughing Buddha Nursery in Metairie, Louisiana. In 2003, Grant started Laughing Buddha Nursery out of a simple desire to be his own boss and run a retail shop that met a community need - the then fledgling but growing demand for organic gardening supplies. After Katrina struck the area in 2005, people were concerned about the quality and potential contaminants in their backyard soil. In response, Grant began composting and mixing organic soil blends to supply healthy, lead-free, and nutrient-rich soil products for customers’ gardens. In 2010, Kate joined when she met Grant at Laughing Buddha. Her parents always grew a large vegetable garden and composted and as a teenager she spent summers working at a local garden center. She never imagined going into gardening or agriculture professionally, but we know how these things can work out! Tune in to hear all of their integral and transformative composting tips! You’ll hear: How Kate and Grant got started with Laughing Buddha Nursery 1:50 How their store operates 6:09 Grant and Kate’s composting process 13:59 How they efficiently manage both their farm and their store 24:29 The hardest thing Grant and Kate have done in farming 38:25 What Kate and Grant would do differently given the opportunity to start their farming journey over 54:56 How Grant and Kate build their team 1.02:38 The biggest mistake Grant and Kate see newer farmers making 1.12:28 How they approach the mental game of running their business 1.19:51 Their favorite farming tools 1.26:01 Where you can find out more about Grant, Kate, and Laughing Buddha Nursery 1.30:18 About the Guest:Grant has operated Laughing Buddha Nursery, a retail garden shop that helps people grow vegetables organically, since 2003. After Hurricane Katrina, Laughing Buddha began composting to supply healthy, lead-free, and microbe-rich soil products for customers’ gardens. From 2010-2015, Grant launched and operated a commercial composting division of a sand and aggregate company. He sold his shares of this company in 2015. In 2010, Kate met Grant as a customer of Laughing Buddha (buying worms for her apartment compost bin!) and they got married in 2016. Kate grew up in Wisconsin, graduated from the University of Missouri, served in AmeriCorps, and worked in newspapers and nonprofits prior to farming. On land that was a failed subdivision that they purchased in 2014, together Kate and Grant started Local Cooling Farms, their pasture-based regenerative livestock operation. Their farm model focuses on maximizing nutrient cycling (nature’s loop of production, consumption and decomposition) and raising livestock with respect and dignity to produce healthy protein, restore soil health, and sequester carbon (hence the name!). They also now have their composting operation on the farm. Kate has developed the farm's neighborhood delivery hub model where they sell the vast majority of their farm products (save for a few restaurants and bakeries that purchase eggs), as well as seasonal produce, chicken, lamb, dairy, fermented and preserved goods, bread and pasta, honey, and more from 20 other regional farms and producers. Osho says that laughter is "the very essence of Zen." And though the theme of this series is meditation - watching, remaining alert and aware - as the only way to truth, Osho encourages us to, "be happy and meditation will follow." There is a wonderful chapter on laughter, Hotei the Laughing Buddha, and enlightenment. As Osho says, "This is the whole effort of all the masters: to create a sudden clash of thunder so those who are fast asleep can be awakened."

A budtender can tell you the difference between Laughing Buddha and Acapulco Gold, or which vape pen may last the longest. But some of these experts at your friendly neighborhood dispensary are sometimes asked, and offer, advice beyond such innocuous subjects, creating a potential for issues down the road. We have yet to see a proliferation of budtender liability lawsuits, but they’re probably coming, according to experts we spoke with. Find the Good News Journal - Entry 1 - The Laughing Buddha w/Oran Parker In this Find the Good News Journal Entry I take you on my morning prayer and meditation walk to the Maplewood Commons in Sulphur, Louisiana. I talk about the past year of Good News, where goodness comes from, attending Julia O'Carroll's Tea at Walden journaling workshop, forgiveness, resentment, what the best version of me looks like, and what the road to my best self is paved with. I touch on Christianity, Buddhism, and where my spiritual life falls on that spectrum. This is what Find the Good News looks like when I'm talking to you instead of my guests. I hope that this journal entry will be of value to someone on their way. ==========SUPPORT FIND THE GOOD NEWS ON PATREON >> www.Patreon.com/FindTheGoodNews ==========FIND THE GOOD NEWS IS PRODUCED BY PARKER BRAND CREATIVE SERVICES >> www.ParkerBrandUp.com==========

Artistic expression is a fundamental part of the human condition, but body art remains one of the most stigmatized versions of expression on a global level. In the US, 40% of Americans under the age of 30 have a tattoo, so clearly something is shifting. Why has tattoo art, and the designers and artists that work in the medium had such a hard time being accepted into the artistic community, and why do so many unfair stigmas remain?

Kelly starts off the show talking about her recent struggles and gives an update on how she's doing now. She talks about how her soul grew through her experience and she points out the difference between Spirit, Soul and the Human-self. She shares the important principle of the universe that states you don't get what you want until you don't need it anymore. Kelly also goes in-depth on how she needed to be at peace with her “stuff”, the concept of the “Laughing Buddha”, setting boundaries and how she has now become “the oil over the water.”

This week's podcast explores the seeming dichotomy between pursuing a spiritual path through life and enjoying the things of the world. This is something I wrestle with from time to time, and is at the heart of the paradoxical need for "Caffeine for the Soul".
Guest, Jane Marla Robbins, is a modern day renaissance woman: actress, playwright, author, poet, coach and speaker. After a stunning career as an actress on Broadway, off-Broadway, in film and on TV, she decided to stop being other people (the roles she played) and start being herself. Since then she has delighted in helping people 'act' in their everyday life in order to look and feel self-confident in difficult real-life situations. This is when her book, Acting Techniques for Everyday Life, was born. Want to overcome your self-consciousness? She's got an acting technique for that. Want to look younger? She's got an acting technique for that. Want to get over your fear of public speaking? She's got an acting technique for that. And more. Jane's learned how important humor is in life and she shares some of her poetry which reflects her playful sense of humor. Her 3 books of poems are: Poems of The Laughing Buddha, Dogs in Topanga and Cafe Mimosa in Topanga.

The intro says it all. Shooting from the hip this week we frantically run the course from tripped out dubbiness to goa. Noiseshaper's awesome remix of Vice Vanity kicks it all off before a Dilinja and Damian Marley mashup with some dope cuts. Pendulum and Reso make their appearance as we get bassy and grungy before Pretty Lights brings us to the midway point. After that we come out swinging with old school techno of the goa flavour with Eat Static and Laughing Buddha - until we decided enough is enough and return to the land of normal bpms. L.S.G. brings us a rather memorable anthem for all us '90s era ravers and then Die Antwoord remind us that what's old is new. Tracklist: Vice Vanity - Noiseshaper Twist Jamrock Out - Damian Marley vs Dilinja and Skibadee Tarantula - Pendulum Check 1, 2- Reso Make It Bun Dem - Damian Marley and Skrillex I Know The Truth - Pretty LIghts Rum Rum Yum Yum - Nanoo Bony Incus Prog3 - Eat Static Dragon Wings - Laughing Buddha and Pogo Implant - Eat Static Netherworld - LSG Baby's On FIre - DIe Antwoord

MAITREYA is said to be the future Buddha, the successor to the historic Śākyamuni Buddha. It's said that his 'coming' which will happen in a few thousand (or perhaps millions) of years. In the meantime, he awaits his return, residing in Tuṣita Heaven. Yes, there are some elements to Maitreya rather like the 'Second Coming' of Jesus. Maitreya is taken by some as something like a Buddhist Messiah. He is often seen seated in a pose somewhat reminiscent of Rodan's "THE THINKER", but with softer shape and expression, sometimes tranquil and sometimes crying, contemplating the suffering of sentient beings. In fact, Maitreya's name may be derived from the Sanskrit word Maitri (Metta in Pali), 'loving-kindness'. Sometimes he is seen in this form ... ... perhaps from after he let himself go. However, the origins of this popular "Laughing Buddha" are actually found a figure called Hotei from China, a jolly fat monk who happened to be a devotee of Maitreya, and whose image became mixed into the Maitreya legend over time. In any event, even if not really "Maitreya", the image is very popular in Chinese Buddhist temples ... and Chinese restaurants. One popular belief is that if one rubs his fat belly on the 1st day of the Lunar Year, it will bring forth wealth, good luck and prosperity. (In my case, I typically think of the Laughing Buddha when I break my diet ... often at a Chinese restaurant.) Maitreya was frequently taken as a cult symbol driving peasant rebellions and other mass movements for social change or revolution in China in centuries past. In so many ways, Maitreya is simply a symbol of future hope and change. Today’s Sit-A-Long video follows at this link.
