This week on Wrestling Omakase we review the greatest pay-per-view in AEW history, discuss two good shows from NJPW, and talk about a LOT of very stupid takes! The Wrestling Omakase Patreon is your best source for coverage of Japanese wrestling, from yesterday and today. Our series covering every Tokyo Dome main event in order is about to finish the 1990s, and you can listen to all of the past episodes right now covering it all! We discuss the main events of each show in detail but also talk about everything else going on in Japanese wrestling around that time, so you can relive the nWo Japan split, Inoki's ill-fated UFO promotion, the shocking death of Giant Baba and all the related fallout, and a lot more as you follow along with us. Plus, coming up this month will be daily audio coverage of the G1 Climax and NOAH N-1 Victory tournaments, which you'll only find on the Patreon. And finally, don't forget that you get more full episodes on there too- every week there isn't a new show on the free feed, there's a full length episode exclusive to the Patreon! You can get all of this right now for only $5 at http://patreon.com/wrestlingomakaseJohn is joined by returning guest Chris Samsa (@TheChrisSamsa) from VOW & Sport of Pro Wrestling. They start off with some quick thoughts on both their live adventures- John being in attendance for the Toronto Blue Jays CRUSHING the New York Yankees and Chris being in attendance for one of the greatest North American PPVs of all time. One is a little more relevant than the other for sure. They then get into a very long (nearly 2 hours!) and very detailed review of AEW All Out, as they discuss all the matches and big debuts, what stood out for them and what didn't work quite as well, and much more. Chris also gives us the live perspective throughout the show of course, which is very nice to have.Once that's out of the way they turn their attention to good 'ol New Japan Pro Wrestling. John has read some very, very stupid and repetitive takes on Twitter lately and sounds off a little about them before the two of them get into full reviews of two Wrestle Grand Slam in Metlife Dome events, two shows that were 2021 NJPW in a nutshell: no atmosphere whatsoever but a lot of great wrestling. There was some bad stuff too though for sure, and they discuss that as well. They also quickly go through the G1 blocks and what stands out to them, if anything. Finally, they wrap things up with your mailbag questions on the end of DAMNATION in DDT, who we'd want to redeem our nutz, what we think the Power Struggle main event will be and more.Follow Wrestling Omakase on Twitter to submit questions for future episodes and get alerts every time new episodes go up (both free feed & Patreon)- @wrestleomakase!Wrestling Omakase has dedicated channels on TWO Discords! 新日本プロレス WRESTLE GRAND SLAM in MetLife DOME 1日目のレビューです!
I'm Matt Carlins and this is JUST Pro Wrestling News for Saturday, September 4, 2021. A special welcome to those of you listening on WrestleMap.com. If you want to bring our updates to your website...email us: desk@justprowrestlingnews.com. (STINGER: WWE) Roman Reigns is STILL the Universal Champion. He used a guillotine choke to beat Finn Balor in the main event on last night's SmackDown. But these two may not be done with one another. After the match, red lighting and the sound of a heartbeat indicated we may soon see the return of Balor's Demon persona. WWE is setting the stage for a big SmackDown next Friday at New York's Madison Square Garden. Brock Lesnar is set to appear on that show. Edge is set for a rematch with Seth Rollins next week. Cesaro beat Rollins via disqualification when Rollins introduced a steel chair into the match. Rollins used the chair to beat up on Cesaro after the match...before Edge ran out for the save.. Also set for next Friday, a contract signing between SmackDown Women's Champ Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair...for a title match at Extreme Rules. Getting back to last night's show...The Street Profits beat the SmackDown Tag Champs The Usos via disqualification in a non-title match. Sami Zayn pinned Dominik Mysterio with a Helluva Kick. Rick Boogs pinned Dolph Ziggler with a pumphandle slam. And Logan Paul showed up...and helped Happy Corbin lay out Kevin Owens. Charlotte Flair is now set to defend her Raw Women's Championship against Nia Jax on Monday's Raw. Yahoo News reports WWE has dissolved its subsidiary in Japan, after letting go of more than 100 wrestlers and staff over the past several months. (STINGER: AEW) AEW set the stage for All Out and beyond on last night's Rampage. Darby Allin used the Last Supper to pin Daniel Garcia in the main event. 2.0 jumped Allin after the match before CM Punk ran down to ringside and gave Darby an opening to fight them off. Punk and Allin had a staredown as the show ended. Kris Statlander overcame the odds to win a 2-on-1 match against Jamie Hayter & Rebel. Red Velvet was out after the match to help run off Dr. Britt Baker and her pals. Malakai Black beat Lee Johnson, and after the match Dustin Rhodes challenged Black to a match on next Wednesday's Dynamite. An in-ring promo by the TNT Champion Miro was interrupted by his challenger at All Out, Eddie Kingston...and Kingston managed to lay out Miro with a DDT. Pac vs. Andrade El Idolo, which was dropped from the All Out card due to travel issues is now set for next Friday's Rampage. (STINGER: New Japan) New Japan is at the MetLife Dome in Saitama Saturday and Sunday for two big Wrestle Grand Slam stadium shows. Sunday's show will see Shingo Takagi's return from a bout with COVID-19. He'll defend the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against EVIL in the main event. Taichi & Zack Sabre Jr. defend the IWGP Tag Titles in a 3-Way...against Tetsuya Naito & SANADA...and Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI. Hiromu Takahashi challenges Robbie Eagles for the IWGP Jr. Title. The Jr. TAG Titles are on the line as El Phantasmo & Taiji Ishimori defend against Yoshinobu Kanemaru & El Desperado. Plus, Kazuchika Okada & Tomohiro Ishii vs. Jeff Cobb & Great-O-Khan… And a special Stardom tag match: Momo Watanabe & Saya Kamitani vs. Giulia & Syuri. Start time on Sunday is 1:30AM Eastern. On Friday's New Japan Strong, Josh Alexander beat Daniel Garcia…TJP beat Rey Horus...and Hikuleo beat Matt Morris in the main event. He tried to continue the beating after the match, but Juice Robinson ran out for the save. This is the match fans of Major League Wrestling have been waiting for. The date is now set for a Title vs. Title clash between MLW Champion Jacob Fatu and the National Openweight Champion Alex Hammerstone. It'll go down at MLW's Fightland show in Philadelphia on October 2nd. That's JUST Pro Wrestling News for Saturday, September 4. We are in Hoffman Estates, Illinois for All Out. Shannon Spruill - better known to pro wrestling fans as Daffney - has died. Daffney made her debut with WCW in 1999, and won the company's Cruiserweight Championship the following year. She later wrestled for TNA and various independent promotions. Injuries shortened Daffney's in-ring career. Her last match was over a decade ago, though she continued to make appearances for different companies over the years that followed. Her death was announced on Thursday. Daffney - Shannon Spruill - was 46. ... If you are in crisis, or just need someone to talk to...help is available. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is 1-800-273-TALK. That's 1-800-273-8255 ... (STINGER: WWE) WWE is promoting a HUGE match for tonight's SmackDown. Roman Reigns defending the Universal Championship against Finn Balor. On Thursday's NXT UK… Teoman beat Nathan Frazer in a first round match in the Heritage Cup #1 Contender Tournament. A timely distraction by Rohan Raja helped Teoman get the deciding pinfall in the fifth round. Also on the show, Emilia McKenzie pinned Amale with a rollup. The advertised match between Blair Davenport and Nina Samuels never happened. Davenport attacked Samuels during her entrance. That drew out Sid Scala...and Davenport laid him out too. Scala was later seen sporting a neck brace. It was announced during the show that Aoife Valkyrie suffered a knee injury during her match last week...and will be out indefinitely. (STINGER: AEW) Tonight's AEW Rampage is the last stop before Sunday's All Out pay per view. Darby Allin faces Daniel Garcia in the main event. CM Punk will be on commentary during that match. Plus, Malakai Black vs. Lee Johnson… Kris Statlander in a 2-on-1 Match against Jamie Hayter & Rebel… And we'll hear from the TNT Champion Miro. Riho has been added to the Women's Casino Battle Royale at All Out. That leaves us with only ONE unannounced entrant for the match. During a media call on Thursday, Tony Khan confirmed that most tapings of AEW Dark will be moving to Universal Studios in Orlando. Khan also said he's planning to do international touring next year...specifically in the United Kingdom...and also looking to do shows in the western half of the United States, including bringing the Double Or Nothing pay per view back to Las Vegas. (STINGER: ROH) The semifinals in Ring Of Honor's women's title tournament are on this weekend's ROH TV. It's Angelina Love vs. Rok-C...and Miranda Alize vs. Trish Adora. The winners will face off for the gold at the Death Before Dishonor pay per view. Also on this weekend's show, Shane Taylor Promotions vs. La Faccion Ingobernable in an 8-Man Tag Team main event. (STINGER: New Japan) Tonight's New Japan Strong has - and I can't stress this enough - Josh Alexander vs. Daniel Garcia in the main event. Plus, TJP vs. Rey Horus...and Hikuleo vs. Matt Morris, who's better known these days as Matthew Rehwoldt. Back in Japan, New Japan is running back-to-back days at the MetLife Dome in Saitama this weekend. Saturday's show has Hiroshi Tanahashi defending the IWGP United States Championship against Kota Ibushi in the main event. Kazuchika Okada goes up against Jeff Cobb. Chase Owens defends the 2021 KOPW Trophy against Toru Yano in an “I Quit” Match. Roppongi 3K explodes...as SHO and YOH clash one-on-one. Plus, IWGP Jr. Champ Robbie Eagles & Tiger Mask vs. Hiromu Takahashi & BUSHI… AND a special Stardom tag match: Momo Watanabe & Saya Kamitani vs. Maika & Lady C. Start time is 3:30AM Eastern on Saturday. (STINGER: Impact) Impact Wrestling's X-Division Champion Josh Alexander will defend his title at Victory Road...against Chris Sabin. Sabin challenged Alexander on last night's Impact...right after Alexander had beaten Dave Crist to retain his X-Division Title. Crist had answered an open challenge for a title match. Last night's main event saw Ace Austin beat Tommy Dreamer. A distraction by Madman Fulton allowed Austin to hit The Fold and get the pin...and that keeps Austin's title shot at Victory Road against Impact World Champ Christian Cage a one-on-one match.
