Dan followed his brother John, six years older, into Warren Miller movies. They skied the steepest and gnarliest, but also went where the news was happening. Dan said, if it's happening on CNN, that's where I want to be, which meant skiing the Berlin Wall, sneaking into Lebanon, and almost dying in a storm on Europe's tallest mountain, Russia's Mt Elbrus. He hitchhiked with his skis strapped to his back, slept on couches, and made good on the relationships that he forged as a young teenager turning screws for the Ski Market. This boy from Boston has seen it all, skied it all and now his written it down in Thirty Years in a White Haze: Dan Egan's Story of Worldwide Adventure and the Evolution of Extreme Skiing.

Software engineer by profession, mountaineer by passion Never scolded for falling down or getting a cut. A rugged childhood. Asthma diagnosis at an early age of 17 made a drastic change in life, things being done to reduce dependency. If someone had told me at this point of time that I am going to Mount Everest, it would have been a cruel joke, but it's funny how life comes around! Inflection point when a friend showed a picture of a trek in Tamil Nadu, Parvathmalai in 2005, it was the first time that the call of the mountains and adventure was felt it was like a palpitation! My friend told me that as we grow older and wiser, our ability to rationalize any thing that we do increases! Bangalore Mountaineering Club(BMC) and perspective of Bangalore that was limited to Malls, Pubs and Clubs. It was a lot like a small town. When I discovered trekking through BMC, it was as though I had found another layer through which to experience the city. When I became a trek guide with BMC, I felt like I was living the dream because I followed my passion and got paid for it. 2010 December - First High Altitude Trek - Everest Base Camp - First view of Everest. Promised to Mt. Everest that I would come back. Getting ready for a big leap. Having everything needed in place so that I could take the decision once the resources were ready by taking the Basic Mountaineering Course at HMI. (Himalayan Mountaineering Institute) The next expedition I undertook was to Mount Kilimanjaro due to the adventures I had read in Chander Pahar, a Bengali novel that most of us would have read, growing up. It was here that I learnt of the 7 summits. I closed my eyes and visualized a way to make it happen dreaming about traveling the world and have a brilliant excuse to do it! Laughed at myself and thought that here I am struggling to scale Everest, then I took a leap and created a map of what sequence I would be undertaking these executions and once again visualized having completed all these summits. It's interesting to note the way Satya describes his thought process before embarking on his journey, reflecting on how we seldom allow ourselves to dream first thinking of the constraints instead of the potential opportunity before us and figuring out a way to achieve it. James Didier began mountaineering in 2011 in Colorado. Since then he has climbed several significant Alpine peaks in North America and Europe. His most recent adventure was a summit of Europe's highest peak - Mount Elbrus in Russia at 18,510 feet. James climbed without a guide and on a total budget of less than 1,500 dollars including travel expenses making Mt. Elbrus possibly the most affordable of the seven summits and one of the easiest to get to. James Didier, welcome to The Pursuit Zone. Mountain Project Pilgrim Tours
Patrick Sweeney is the son of a first generation Irish immigrant who paid his way through state college where he took up rowing. With just two years of experience he decided to take on the world and try out for the USA Olympic team. Five years later, he finished second in the Olympic trials and won national and international championships in the process. After the Olympics, Patrick attended a Top 5 business school where he would earn his MBA and go on to start three technology companies worth millions of dollars, raising over $30 million in the process and successfully selling two of the companies. During the height of his business success he contracted a very rare form of Leukemia. The brush with death launched him on a path to find his genius what he calls the combination of passion and vocation and make friends with fear to discover his adventure within. Recognized by presidents and rock stars for his contributions to charity and business, Patrick left it all behind to pursue his passion for adventure and find the adventurer within. He is the first person to ever attempt cycling the Seven Summits (the highest peak on each continent) he holds the world record for being the first to cycle to Everest Base Camp, and the Summit of Mt Elbrus. He is also a network TV host with two shows under development. His mission is to inspire millions of people and he has been rated one of the top speakers globally for Young President's Organization (YPO). Gavin Marshall, VK2BAX Born in Nelson New Zealand I re-ignited my interest in the outdoors approx. 15 years ago trekking in the Tararua Ranges north of Wellington, New Zealand. And from that simple beginning I've been pursuing outdoor adventure opportunities when and wherever I can.Several years as a volunteer in the Wellington Search and Rescue organisation, a period as the National SAR Treasurer and also time training a wilderness search dog ensured I maximised my time in the outdoors. In January 2009 I moved to Sydney with my wife and son where I renewed my involvement with the local Search and Rescue organisation. I'm currently a member of the NSW Bush Walkers Rescue Squad and Vertical Rescue team. In 2011 two close friends and I attempted an independent climb of Mt McKinley in Alaska. After a week of holding out in camp 3 for weather on the summit to clear we were forced to descend. I'm not someone to take defeat easily and that descent became the trigger for me to set a personal goal of climbing the 7 summits. To date I've reached the summit of - * Mt Kosciusko, Australia (2,228m) * Mt Kilimanjaro, Africa (6,895m) * Mt Aconcagua, South America (6,982m) * Mt Elbrus, Europe (5,642m) In May 2014 I made a return to Mt McKinley. Once again I was knocked back by the weather. I reached high camp at 17,200 feet before once again being forced to descend. 2014 has been a busy year for me, 10 months off work to travel and continue chasing my 7 summits goal along with a period of volunteer work in Kampala, Uganda. I'm now back in Sydney, using my skills as an Accountant and Project Manager to install ERP business solutions. As fate would have it I have secured a role on a project based in Port Moresby - Papua New Guinea. I'm sure there's an adventure to be had somewhere in the mountains of PNG! I hold amateur radio licence VK2BAX. Source: https://vk0ek.org/the-team/
