(Due to a technical error, this episode was supposed to post last week but it's coming out a week late.) Mycah Pittman will be sidelined for the Seminoles for at least the next 4 to 6 months after having hip surgery. The Florida State football team has already seen someone take the lead as a possible replacement in the slot and at punt returner. Winston Wright Jr. has been taking a lot of reps in the slot according to our sources at Spring Camp and we are encouraged that FSU's depth may allow them to not miss a beat. Mike Norvell and Jordan Travis' offense shouldn't really see any drop off through the Spring and Fall. Hopefully Pittman can return through the season and contribute to a special year that the Noles should have in 2023. We are hearing very positive things about Darrel Jackson and Joshua Farmer. They've been described as UNBLOCKABLE for the Noles. Tatum Bethune and Hykeem Williams have also made some great plays and we've got some insight on how a backup QB has looked during Spring as well. A FIVE Star Recruit has everyone surprised after he revealed something SURPRISING at Florida State University this weekend. After meeting with National Championship winning QB, Jameis Winston, he told the media something nobody expected. We also shared some insight on when we might expect a commitment from 5 Star Defensive Back Charles Lester III. 5 Star Running back Target Kam Davis sounds like he could be shutting down his recruitment soon as well. The Seminole commit is currently the highest rated player in FSU's recruiting class. Mike Norvell and FSU are building something special in this class and we're going to continue to cover all FSU Football news related to recruiting, spring practice and more. In this Episode of the Garnet & Old Show, hosts Ryan and Vince discuss a wide range of topics surrounding FSU football and Seminole sports. They dive into the Legacy Weekend, analyze new recruits like Charles Lester, Jason Zandamela, and Kam Davis, and celebrate Buster Posey's jersey retirement. The episode also covers updates on Jameis Winston, Jalen Ramsey, Mycah Pittman, Greedy Vance, and Darrel Jackson. They touch on JT's NIL ranking, the Congress hearing on NIL, the state of the men's and women's basketball programs, and the baseball team's performance. Finally, they discuss the FSU Great Give fundraiser and preview the upcoming Spring Game.
Florida State hosted dozens of high-end recruits this weekend while also conducting its first padded practice of the spring. Noles247 was there for all of the action and recaps it all in this episode of On The Bench. From the Crystal Ball for Charles Lester III, to the fan overreaction to Derwin James and Jalen Ramsey, and in-depth analysis on the football team...we have you covered in this wide-ranging episode. **Legacy Weekend (2:00): Recapping the visits Charles Lester, Payton Pierce, Kamarion Franklin and others **Buy or Sonnone...by....The Turner Group (38:00): Charles Laster CB, is BJ Gibson a take, an unhealthy love for Jeremiah Byers, Dublin down on St. Patty's Day **What stands out about FSU's offense, through 3 practices, the Mycah Pittman injury (56:00) **Thoughts on FSU's top defenders (1:12:00) Sponsored by Chattanooga Whiskey! Patrick Burnham, Mark Salva and Jerry Kutz analyze a much-improved Florida State wide receiver group. Johnny Wilson is back. So is Mycah Pittman, who brought leadership and a work ethic. Now it's also about evaluating a large group of redshirt juniors, including Kentron Poitier, Darion Williamson and Ja'Khi Douglas.
In a new episode of NIL Now, Kevin and Lauren discuss a memo sent to ACC member schools after Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said Pitt, Wake Forest and Miami bought their teams through NIL deals. The hosts then highlight one of their favorite Super Bowl commercials, an Oikos advertisement that featured Deion Sanders' sons Shedeur and Shilo, made possible through a NIL deal. Reddit CFB's Bobak Ha'Eri analyzes Florida's proposed NIL bill and brings his favorite Reddit comments about Florida State wide receiver Mycah Pittman, who says he made six figures in NIL earnings with the Seminoles. Chris Carlson, a reporter for syracuse.com and The Post Standard, joins the show to talk about how Central New Yorkers perceive Jim Boeheim's comments, and how a Syracuse booster is creating NIL opportunities for the Orange. Welcome back to another episode of Locked On Seminoles! Dave brings in an old face you know and love (yes, it's Max) to discuss what the offense and defense need to do in order for FSU to be a real championship contender in 2023, and offer their wild cards for which players stepping up could make the biggest difference. First, Dave and Max explain why the offense—already one of the best in the country in 2022, for both passing and rushing—needs to improve on the margins, namely by improving situational football and consistency, which will likely see the greatest gains at wide receiver (with another year in the system for key contributors such as Johnny Wilson, Mycah Pittman, and Winston Wright) and tight end (with a revamped room that includes highly-touted transfer additions Kyle Morlock and Jaheim Bell). Then, they address the improvements needed on defense, namely maximizing the talent and potential at the defense back position (which should be accomplished through the addition of new defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain), and more well-rounded defensive line play that sets the edge and finishes the numerous almost-sacks/pressures Florida State saw each week in 2022. Finally, they offer their individual wild cards for the 2023 season that could push the Seminoles over the hump into championship contender territory, including new tight ends Morlock and Bell, veteran returning defensive back Akeem Dent, and Kalen Deloach. As always, thank you for making Locked On Seminoles your first listen each and every day. We thank y'all for all the love and support and hope you enjoy the show. Welcome back to another episode of Locked on Seminoles! Drake and Dave continue the way-too-early talk with the start of position previews - beginning with the wide receivers! It's tough to pick a position group on the team for “most improved” and not immediately think of the wide receivers. With a handful of transfers coming in at the position entering 2022, hopes were high for a long-awaited turnaround at the position; and that's exactly what we got. With a breakout season from Johnny Wilson making tough catch after tough catch, to Mycah Pittman proving himself equal parts reliable and hard-nosed, the position finally saw competency and production, allowing Jordan Travis and the offense as a whole to flourish. Entering 2023, the ‘Noles bring back the vast majority of key contributors at the WR position, with Johnny Wilson and Mycah Pittman sure to start; Kentron Portier and Darrion Williamson showing flashes that warrant meaningful playing time; 2022 transfer Winston Wright returning from injury to try to reclaim the all-conference production he generated at West Virginia; uber-talented freshman Hykeem Williams and Vandrevius Jacobs entering the shuffle; and players like Ja'Khi Douglas and Josh Burrell still waiting for a chance to prove themselves. Indeed, the Seminoles return so much talent and production that a productive contributor like Malik McClain departed via the transfer portal. Drake and Dave are here to explain why production at wide receiver should only take another step forward in 2023, offering you their top-5 at the position and a surprise/sleeper candidate to keep an eye on. With a breakout season from Johnny Wilson making tough catch after tough catch, to Mycah Pittman proving himself equal parts reliable and hard-nosed, the position finally saw competency and production, allowing Jordan Travis and the offense as a whole to flourish.Entering 2023, the ‘Noles bring back the vast majority of key contributors at the WR position, with Johnny Wilson and Mycah Pittman sure to start; Kentron Portier and Darrion Williamson showing flashes that warrant meaningful playing time; 2022 transfer Winston Wright returning from injury to try to reclaim the all-conference production he generated at West Virginia; uber-talented freshman Hykeem Williams and Vandrevius Jacobs entering the shuffle; and players like Ja'Khi Douglas and Josh Burrell still waiting for a chance to prove themselves.Indeed, the Seminoles return so much talent and production that a productive contributor like Malik McClain departed via the transfer portal.Drake and Dave are here to explain why production at wide receiver should only take another step forward in 2023, offering you their top-5 at the position and a surprise/sleeper candidate to keep an eye on.As always, thanks for making Locked on Seminoles your first listen each and every day. Welcome back to another episode of Locked on Seminoles! Drake and Dave discuss the news of WR Malik McClain departing via the transfer portal, and Clemson's hiring of Garrett Riley from TCU as its offensive coordinator and re-hiring of Jeff Scott as an analyst, and take their turn laughing at the debacle down in Gainesville with Jaden Rashada. First, Drake and Dave discuss the news that wide receiver Malik McClain will be playing football elsewhere next year after entering his name into the transfer portal, and explain why his loss shouldn't hurt the Seminoles in 2023 given the logjam and embarrassment of riches currently at the WR position with Johnny Wilson, Mycah Pittman, Winston Wright, and others. Then, the guys discuss the news that Clemson has fired its offensive coordinator Brandon Streeter, and appears to be hiring Broyles award winning OC Garrett Riley from TCU for the same position, as well as bringing back former OC Jeff Scott as an analyst, and offer their view of what this could mean for Clemson and Florida State's forthcoming clashes with the Tigers. Finally, they join in the fun of laughing at the mess that currently is Florida Gators football, as 5* QB commit Jaden Rashada has evidently asked to be released from his letter of intent after not receiving the millions of dollars of NIL money he was promised.
