Send us a Text Message. Can Florida State's football team finally dominate the season opener against Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland? Our latest episode of the North Florida Sports Network is here to answer all your burning questions as we break down the Seminoles' roster ahead of the big game. We start by focusing on the quarterback position, where DJ is set to lead the team, backed up by the promising Brock Glenn and true freshman Luke Kromenhoek. You'll hear our thoughts on the importance of a strong running game to support these quarterbacks and our optimism about the team's depth and talent despite some concerns over the readiness of the backups.Next, we dissect the offensive lineup, spotlighting the potential breakout stars for the Seminoles this season. We discuss the young guns in the slot receiver position, especially Jalen Brown, whose skills remind us of Rashad Greene. We also touch on the need for new wide receivers and running backs to rise to the challenge. The tight end group, despite the loss of Jaheim Bell, shows promise with players like Morlock, Brian Courtney, and newcomers Amari Williams and Landon Thomas. Our analysis wouldn't be complete without mentioning the offensive line, where Darius Washington's versatility stands out and signals a strong future bolstered by talent such as Lucas Simmons and Andre Otto. Our final segment shifts to the defense, where we highlight the key players and units poised to make an impact. With standouts like Patrick Payton and Marvin Jones Jr. on the defensive line, and new talents like Cam Riley at linebacker, the Seminoles' defense is ready for action. The secondary, featuring players like Kevin Knowles and Shaheen Brown, adds depth and experience. Plus, we preview the much-anticipated matchup against Georgia Tech, providing insights on both teams' strengths and what to watch for. Tune in for our game predictions, player of the game picks, and why we believe a strong running game will set the tone for a successful season.@TheNFLSN https://twitter.com/TheNFLSN
It's a new era in New England. Bill Belichick is out, and Jerod Mayo takes over the job. The Patriots had the No. 3 pick in the NFL Draft and selected Drake Maye, the quarterback from North Carolina. Maye has high upside but may take some time to develop. Jacoby Brissett could be (and is currently the favorite to be) the Patriots Week 1 starter. With big changes to their core, the 2024 New England Patriots are difficult to preview in advance of the NFL Season. The Patriots focused on the offensive side of the ball in the draft to support the young quarterback. Ja'Lynn Polk and Javon Baker should battle for playing time immediately. The Patriots also threw a late pick on tight end Jaheim Bell to join Hunter Henry in the tight end room after Pharaoh Brown and Mike Gesicki both left town. The Patriots spent their third-round pick on offensive tackle Caedan Wallace out of Penn State. Their three biggest needs going into the draft were quarterback, wide receiver, and offensive line, and they addressed them in that order in the draft. Wallace mostly played right tackle in college, but the Patriots believe he's their left tackle of the future.Podcast Timecodes0:00 Intro7:50 2023 New England Patriots Recap14:30 Offseason Roster Moves19:10 Boston Capper Joins the Show32:00 Patriots Schedule Breakdown48:51 Best Bets JOIN the SGPN community #DegensOnlyExclusive Merch, Contests and Bonus Episodes ONLY on Patreon - https://sg.pn/patreonDiscuss with fellow degens on Discord - https://sg.pn/discordDownload The Free SGPN App - https://sgpn.appCheck out the Sports Gambling Podcast on YouTube - https://sg.pn/YouTubeCheck out our website - http://sportsgamblingpodcast.comSUPPORT us by supporting our partnersUnderdog Fantasy code SGPN - Up to $250 in BONUS CASH - https://play.underdogfantasy.com/p-sgpnCirca Sports - 16 MILLION in guaranteed prizes w/ Circa Survivor & Circa Millions - https://www.circasports.com/circa-sports-millionFootball Contest Proxy - Use promo code SGP to save $50 at - https://www.footballcontestproxy.com/Rithmm - Player Props and Picks - Free 7 day trial! http://sportsgamblingpodcast.com/rithmmGametime code SGPN - Download the Gametime app, create an account, and use code SGPN for $20 off your first purchase - https://gametime.co/OddsJam - 7-day free trial and 35% off your first month subscription promo code SGPN - https://fas.st/t/yaJkJgH1 ADVERTISE with SGPNInterested in advertising? In the latest episode titled "Top 10 Tight Ends: 2024 NFL Draft Prospects," the focus is on the cream of the crop among tight end prospects gearing up for the NFL Draft. Leading the pack is Brock Bowers from Georgia, hailed for his athleticism, precise route running, and prowess as both a receiver and blocker. With an impressive college career under his belt, Bowers is poised to be a top-10 pick, offering teams a versatile weapon in their offensive arsenal.Next in line is JaTavion Sanders out of Texas, who boasts exceptional athleticism and catching ability, making him a formidable threat in the passing game. Despite concerns about his blocking skills and overall polish, Sanders is projected to be a late second-round to early third-round pick, offering tantalizing potential for teams willing to invest in his development.Cade Stover from Ohio State emerges as another intriguing prospect, showcasing explosive athleticism and a knack for making plays both as a receiver and blocker. Despite a back injury that sidelined him during the combine, Stover's raw talent and versatility make him a solid third-round pick with room for growth.Ben Sinnott out of Kansas State brings a unique journey to the draft, starting as a walk-on fullback before transitioning to tight end. With reliable hands and the ability to create separation, Sinnott offers teams an intriguing option in the passing game, though his blocking skills and athleticism are areas for improvement.Jaheim Bell from Florida State rounds out the top-tier prospects, known for his explosive playmaking ability and versatility lining up as both a tight end and fullback. While Bell faces challenges with press coverage and durability concerns stemming from a past ACL injury, his dynamic skill set makes him a solid fourth-round pick with potential upside. As the NFL Draft approaches, the excitement continues to build around these top tight end prospects, each offering unique strengths and areas for growth as they transition to the professional level.1 Brock Bowers2 JaTavion Sanders3 Cade Stover4 Ben Sinnott5 Jaheim Bell6 Theo Johnson7 Dallin Holker8 AJ Barner9 Jared Wiley10 Tip Reiman#nygiants #nfl #nfldraft Support the showAll Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Georgia TE Brock Bowers is at the top of the mountain by himself. Who are the next crop of big pass catchers? At the Senior Bowl, Jaheim Bell has a chance to turn heads with his NFL frame, versatility, and athleticism. Penn State TE Theo Johnson is going to pass the immediate eye test. He needs to showcase his size/frame and speed during practice. He has the tools to be a very effective NFL tight end. Kansas State's Ben Sinnott is a Swiss Army knife and utility weapon for an offense. He has a chance to prove his worth and value to all 32 NFL teams at the senior bowl. Florida State at Florida, it's prediction time! The Seminoles football team is 11-0 and ranked #5 in the College Football Playoff Poll. It's all on the line as the Noles travel to Gainesville to play the Gators. How will Florida handle FSU's receivers like Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson? Then there's the x-factor in Jaheim Bell at tight end for the Seminoles. FSU and UF have backup quarterbacks, but there are other issues to be concerned with as well for both teams. The squad that runs the football better – to help either FSU signal caller Tate Rodemaker or UF quarterback Max Brown – holds an advantage. There's still a need to hit big passing plays as well. Can UF's offensive front hold up against Jared Verse and a talented FSU Front 7? Will FSU be surprised that Brown can take and connect on down-the-field passing plays? Even if Johnny Wilson and/or Destyn Hill do not play against Wake Forest, Florida State should hit plenty of big plays and win going away. Keon Coleman at wide receiver, a 3-headed monster at running back, Jordan Travis's running ability, and Jaheim Bell being tough to guard, all spell trouble for the Demon Deacons. Additionally, watch out for FSU hitting some really big passing plays off of play-action. Wake Forest is not going to be able to slow down the Seminoles' running game. Therefore, look for the Noles to capitalize when the Deacons crowd the line of scrimmage. In its 41-3 win over Syracuse on Saturday, the Florida State Seminoles arguably played their most dominant game of the season on both sides of the ball. The offense ran through Keon Coleman with his 9 catches, 140 yards, 1 touchdown, and incredible one-handed catch. Jaheim Bell was the ‘Noles next leading receiver with 87 yards after only playing 7 snaps the week prior. Their defense allowed only 3 points against Syracuse matching their best performances of the last 2 seasons (Syracuse and Miami last season). The Seminoles Wrap crew (without Brian Pellerin) — Ben Meyerson and Jon Marchant dive into why the defense is playing so well and if the Seminoles rushing offense has turned the corner. Mike Norvell had some questionable moments in play calling and the offense still has more room for growth. They examine how the offense has shown more in the last two games and if they can continue that. Jordan Travis also looked visibly frustrated in this game in a way that we have not seen from him, for a player who is so often collected and calm it was surprising to see. There is still a lot of season left for growth with the offense, but the defense seems to be finding form at the right time. They also discuss why Duke could be the worst matchup this season for FSU (depending on Riley Leonard's health) and how that game will shake out in Tallahassee. According to DraftKings, FSU is currently favored by 14 over Duke with the over/under set at 49. We also look ahead to the rest of the Seminoles' schedule with Miami and how the ACC will play out this season behind Florida State. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

With some halftime adjustments, Mike Norvell and his Florida State Seminoles announced themselves as a juggernaut to the college football world en route to a 45-24 blowout of the LSU Tigers. The dominant win sparks a lot to talk about for the Seminole Wrap crew — Brian Pellerin, Jon Marchant and Ben Meyerson — both in the short-term and long-term picture of Florida State's season. However, you won't hear much from Brian as he serves a 10-minute suspension thanks to last week's bet on the game, where he took his alma mater LSU to win. This week, the crew looks at what made Florida State so successful against the Tigers, what adjustments really made the difference in the second half and what it all means for the long-term picture of the Noles' ACC championship and College Football Playoff dreams. Mike Norvell vs. Brian Kelly 2023 was the third consecutive year Mike Norvell and FSU opened the season against Brian Kelly and each time things only got worse for the former Notre Dame head man. In the 2021 matchup, a lesser-talented Noles team took Kelly's Irish to the wire and nearly pulled off the upset in an OT loss. Last season, the Noles went into the Superdome for Brian Kelly's first game with the purple and gold and should've run the Tigers out of their home state short of a couple poorly executed plays down the stretch. And this year, Norvell checkmated Kelly at every turn, leaving the man who promised to “Beat the heck out of Florida State” nearly speechless postgame in explaining why he couldn't slow down the Noles attack. For three years, Brian says Norvell has coached circles around a man considered one of the best in the sport. The Seminole Wrap team explains this week why Norvell was simply playing chess to Kelly's checkers. Keon Coleman arrives If you had any doubts about the type of wide receiver FSU got in transfer Keon Coleman, allow us to point you back to last night's highlights. He can play big. He can play small. He can make guys miss in space. Coleman is a No. 1 wide receiver and Ben is ready to name him the second-best WR prospect in the NFL Draft next to Ohio State's Marvin Harrison Jr. The crew dives into what allowed him to succeed this game and what it opens up for the rest of the FSU offense to have Coleman and Jaheim Bell's skillset now in the mix. FSU Dominates Offensive & Defensive Fronts The other top headline from the game was Florida State's ability to control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. The Noles were able to push LSU around upfront, but really controlled the game most with the defensive line. Outside of two long runs late in the 2nd quarter, LSU was unable to find any success in the ground game — 25 carries for 38 yards. Jon shares his perspective on what gave Florida State the edge against the LSU rushing attack and the key personnel adjustment that opened up the Florida State running game in the second half. The No. 8 Florida State Seminoles opened their 2023 season with a win over the No. 5 LSU Tigers, 45-24, in the Camping World Kickoff in Orlando, Florida. It's the second year in a row the Noles begin their campaign with a win against the Tigers. This time they did it by dominating the second half, scoring 31 unanswered before LSU's 75-yard TD in the final 1:15. The star of the game was FSU WR Keon Coleman, who showed why he was one of the most sought after transfers in the nation early and often in this one. The Louisiana native scored on a 40-yard catch and run to open the scoring on Florida State's first drive. He then followed it up late in the 2nd quarter by winning a jump ball in the endzone to even the score at 14. And why not add a third to put the game on ice? He finished the game with 9 receptions, 122 yards and 3 TDs. FSU's other new face Jaheim Bell found the endzone in the fourth as well on a 44-yard TD reception to extend the Noles lead in the 4th. He added a 4-yard rushing touchdown with 1:26 left in the 4th to close the scoring. Veteran WR Johnny Wilson was Johnny on the spot several times for the Noles on big 3rd downs to move the chains. He finished the game with 7 receptions and 104 yards. A strong start for FSU's top three receiving weapons. Jordan Travis had a few ill-advised throws in the first half, but really found his groove in the second half, adding a rushing score to go with his 4 TDs and 342 yards through the air. The countdown to the season opener for the Florida State Seminoles against the LSU Tigers is just days away. It's a highly anticipated game to kickoff a highly anticipated season. The Seminole Wrap crew — Brian Pellerin, Jon Marchant and Ben Meyerson — released their 2023 season and LSU preview episode earlier this week. But with so much excitement for the year, one episode wasn't quite enough. So we brought in the DraftKings Network's Mike Golic Jr. to talk Florida State's climb back to the national title conversation, Mike Norvell's ascension through the coaching ranks and the Noles' competition for the ACC crown. Mike Norvell's Rise in College Football Four games into Mike Norvell's second season at the helm, Florida State was at what felt like rock bottom. The Noles had just lost to the Louisville Cardinals to open the year with an 0-4 record including the shocking Week 2 loss to Jacksonville State. Golic remembers calling that game against the Cardinals for ESPN and getting to attend practice the Friday before. Despite the 0-3 start to that point and the pressure ratcheting up around his job security in the fan base, the former Notre Dame offensive lineman recalls the mood around practicing being unexpectedly spirited, cheerful and confident It's not something you'd think to have around a struggling team. But Norvell's team had it. From that point, FSU has gone 15-6 and finds itself staring down enormous expectations in the chase for the ACC and the College Football Playoff. Golic believes all that stems from the attitude Norvell instilled even in the face of losing. Jordan Travis, Heisman contender Norvell not alone in climbing out of the hole. That week against Louisville, McKenzie Milton took every snap at quarterback. The now star quarterback Jordan Travis was on the bench with a shoulder injury, three weeks removed from being benched against Notre Dame and losing the job in that Jacksonville State game. Now, Travis has the third best odds to win the Heisman Trophy. How did Travis make this transition and what is the real ceiling for him this season? Golic believes he is one of the best athletes in all of college football. Yes, one of the best runners, but he's also shown incredible growth with his arm from that 2021 season. Are the expectations legit? Florida State enters the 2023 season as near co-favorites in the ACC with the Clemson Tigers and in the top eight in odds to win the national title — a stark contrast from where they were a year ago. It's breakneck speed from the bottom to potentially the top of the ladder, but Golic says the transfer portal allows programs to microwave the roster. Florida State has excelled at it with a roster full of transfer names leading the way. He's a big fan of Trey Benson's running style and how he sets up his blockers for success. He's excited to see how Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman work as a one-two punch at receiver. But most of all, he's excited to see how Norvell uses Jaheim Bell, one of his favorite players to watch while calling South Carolina games over the last few seasons. Competition within the ACC Talking heads have been predicting the demise of Clemson for a couple years now, but it hasn't happened yet. And until someone takes it from them, Golic says they have to remain the favorites to win the conference again. But that doesn't mean FSU isn't ready and capable to dethrone them. He sees the ACC as a two-team conference at this point unless somebody makes a large jump and surprises. Pitt, Miami, North Carolina and NC State are all teams certainly capable of contending for the crown, but they remain a tier below the top-two in the conference in Florida State and Clemson For more detail and insight on Golic's thoughts on Florida State, the ACC and the CFP, listen to this bonus episode of the Seminole Wrap podcast available now. The Florida State Seminoles released their first depth chart of the 2023 season on Monday, six days before the season opener against the LSU Tigers. The highly touted, top-ten matchup between the No. 8 Seminoles and No. 6 Tigers will be a primetime showdown at 7:30 PM this Sunday on ABC. Last year, the two squads faced off an instant classic that saw the Seminoles come out on top in a last-second thriller by way of a blocked extra point. According to DraftKings, the Seminoles remain a 2.5-point underdog against the Tigers, with the over/under set at 58.5. On the depth chart are a few names that were expected — Heisman Trophy-contending quarterback Jordan Travis and potential top 10 NFL Draft pick defensive end Jared Verse, for example — but a few Florida State newcomers have earned starting status according to the week's projected depth chart. Some of the more notable? At the wide receiver position, Destyn Hill and Winston Wright Jr. have emerged as starters, as well as tight ends Kyle Morlock and Jaheim Bell.
