Host Chris Beesley returns from Selhurst Park with Joe Thomas to discuss Everton's FA Cup third round controversy alongside regular guest Gavin Buckland. Everton have launched an appeal against the red card handed to Dominic Calvert-Lewin against Crystal Palace. The forward was sent off amid controversy in the FA Cup third round at Selhurst Park after referee Chris Kavanagh was ordered to review his challenge on Nathaniel Clyne. Kavanagh had seen no issue with the incident in real-time but, predictably, reversed his call once he was sent to the pitch side monitor. It was a contentious decision that has sparked outrage inside and outside the Everton camp. And while the Blues were still able to fight through the adversity and take the game to a replay it will have serious consequences for the club. Host Chris Beesley returns from Selhurst Park with Joe Thomas to discuss Everton's FA Cup third round controversy alongside regular guest Gavin Buckland. With pre-season coming to an end, the panel discuss the need for Jurgen Klopp to dip into the transfer market with questions posed over the depth in the squad given Nathaniel Clyne’s knee injury. With the new campaign on the horizon they also share their views on the winners in pre-season, most notably Rhian Brewster, while Ryan Kent and Harry Wilson may have missed a chance to lay claim to a position in Klopp’s first team. With the Club World Cup dates confirmed for the middle of December there’s a discussion into the impact it could have on the Reds’ season - and there’s even a footnote on Everton’s designs for their new stadium planned for Bramley-Moore Dock. Our latest tour diary from America comes direct from our reporting team's hotel - which, given the swelteringly hot temperatures outside, is probably the wisest decision. But is it the wisest decision for Sunday night's clash between Liverpool and Sevilla at Fenway Park to go-ahead? Ian Doyle and Kristian Walsh discuss that before turning their attentions to the Reds' owners FSG, for whom the second friendly of the club's stay in the States will be a particularly proud moment given where it is taking place. Fitness updates on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Nathaniel Clyne and Bobby Duncan follow before talk turns to the fan event at the House of Blues on Saturday night that underlined why Liverpool is a unique club - and why social media plays a big part in that. And then there is the little matter of the interviews Ian and Kristian have conducted with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, which will be going live on the Liverpool ECHO and liverpool.com sites in the coming days. With Joe Rimmer on a day off and our Liverpool FC correspondent James Pearce on a scouting mission in Germany, the pack has been reshuffled for the latest Blood Red podcast with Connor Dunn and Theo Squires joining host Ian Doyle and Paul Gorst. The Reds are without a match this weekend, so the focus is firmly on Tuesday's Champions League clash with Bayern Munich at Anfield.Jurgen Klopp is set to be down to one fit and available centre-back for the last-16 first-leg showdown and Gorsty wonders whether the Liverpool manager was wrong to let a certain defender - who's not Nathaniel Clyne - leave. The panel are fairly sure who will start in the middle of the backline versus Munich but are split over the ability of one of the players in question. Taking that into account, then, which of Klopp's squad has to step up the most?Talk then turns to the Reds' Marbella training camp, the return of two attackers from long-term injury, and why the time in Spain could be crucial in getting a good result on Tuesday. The massive Premier League trip to Old Trafford follows the Bayern encounter. On paper, it looks one of Liverpool's toughest assignments left. But has Manchester United's chastening Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain altered perceptions? And while United used to be the club that most rival fans did not want to see win the league, has that changed to Liverpool? And if so, why?Our second Blood Red Live event and two red-hot young strikers are then debated before the podcast finishes with the panel failing to hide their disinterest in the FA Cup. Here's the good news.Bournemouth have never won at Anfield and they will arrive on Merseyside on the back of eight straight away defeats..But they do have current and former Liverpool players in their squad, who will no doubt be fired up, and like West Ham and Leicester before them, they do have a track record of shocking top-six sides. The Cherries proved that again recently when they beat Chelsea 4-0 at the Vitality Stadium. But it’s another thing altogether coming and getting the better of a Liverpool side, who let’s remember, will go back to the top of the with victory this afternoon, and who have not lost at home in the Premier League since April 2017.So to get the lowdown on Bournemouth, how Dominic Solanke and Nathaniel Clyne are getting on, just how good David Brooks is, and the job Eddie Howe is doing, Paul Wheelock speaks to Jason Lewis of the Bournemouth Echo. And you will then get the latest from our Liverpool FC correspondent James Pearce following Jurgen Klopp’s press conference. Jurgen Klopp may be down to the bare bones but Neil Fitzmaurice can name one of his strongest squads yet for the latest edition of his superb Poetry in Motion podcast. Our Liverpool FC correspondent James Pearce - this one, not this one - is on board along with debutante Caoimhe O'Neill and with Dan Kay, who makes a welcome return to the panel. And they swiftly get stuck into the idea that, after the draws with Leicester and West Ham allowed Manchester City to go back to the top of the table on goal difference, the wheels are coming off at Anfield. There is no doubt that Klopp's side have not been at their brilliant best since the turn of the year. However, there are mitigating circumstances for that, particularly the injury problems in defence. But James insists the question shouldn't be why Liverpool allowed Nathaniel Clyne allowed to leave. The quartet also pay tribute to the one constant in the heart of the Reds' backline, debate Roberto Firmino's form, give their backing to Naby Keita, and discuss just how big a boost having Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain back fit will be - off the field, as well as on it.Talk then turns to a huge month for the club - starting with this Saturday's visit of Bournemouth to Anfield - and our second Blood Red Live event in Liverpool City Centre next Wednesday (February 13).Just five tickets remain. Our Liverpool FC correspondent James Pearce is fresh back from the London Stadium and he joins host Joe Rimmer, Paul Gorst and Caoimhe O'Neill for the first Blood Red podcast of the week.James looks back on what he believes was the worst performance of table-topping Liverpool's season so far and, given the 1-1 draw at West Ham followed another at home to Leicester, he wonders whether it is time to be concerned.Gorsty was concerned by Roberto Firmino's display against the Hammers and believes it highlighted the paucity of attacking options at Jurgen Klopp's disposal. The Liverpool manager is certainly short of bodies at the back and Joe attempts to get to the bottom of the 'problem' in defence. Is it because certain players aren't good enough? Who in particular has been badly missed? And why was Nathaniel Clyne allowed to leave?James answers that latter question and whether he is still worried by Naby Keita. But, with the Reds still three points clear at the top, is everyone being too negative? Caoimhe thinks so.Spirits will certainly be lifted if Everton do their neighbours a favour and beat Manchester City at Goodison on Wednesday. But do the panel think the Blues can do that? The silence is deafening... In a week where Manchester United managed to extend their unbeaten run to rise to exactly the same position in the league, we’re here to overspend the budget that is the world of football. As one of the most underappreciated podcasts of all time, it’s fitting that we’re talking about players who are underrated. Presumably, however, for these players, being underappreciated doesn’t mean scouring audioboom analytics trying to persuade themselves that there are signs of sentient life out there. We’re focussing on the Premier League – yes… that’s right… the league where almost everyone is overrated. That’s just how we roll. Chris Wagner has been described by some of the Paddys on this podcast as being ‘very reasonable’… however, the majority of us still think he looks like Chris Brunt. He’s back this week to wow us with interesting nuggets of information about transport law. Ceylon’s also back this week. Any chance to talk about how Nathaniel Clyne is going to be the best wing back in the world and she’s there. Patrick is here: Ireland’s answer to the question ‘who has looked into the abyss and seen it staring back at him?’. He’s here to talk about Lukaku without offering the reasoning behind his unhealthy obsession with him. Useful. Jon’s Organised Fun this week. Kind of. If you kind of squint a bit. And try not to focus on it too much. All this and more beside in this week’s episode of A Team of John O’Sheas….
